General Information
Name:
Aether Calrose
Alias:
Detective Calrose, A
Age:
26
Origin Game:
N/A
Homeland:
The City
Faction:
C-Sec
Gender:
Male
History:
While his parents are immigrants from a fantasy realm, Aether is a native-born City citizen. His parents worked hard from their modest beginnings to provide Aether with the best opportunities they could, giving him the benefit of a City-funded education from K-12. After school, and inspired by various factional advertisements, Aether applied to join the ranks of Overwatch, enlisting as a combat medic and being deployed to a forward operating base in the Warzone. This was where his idealistic views of reality and warfare would be tested. At first, it was the horrors some of their enemies would commit, sometimes to civilians, that kept him awake at night. Other nights, it was being unable to save a squadmate from a lethal wound. The worst incident was in Raccoon City, where a bio organic weapon slaughtered most of his squad, leaving him barely alive after being forced to retreat by reinforcements. Afterwards, Aether began suffering from PTSD, which occasionally affects him during his work.
After 4 years within Overwatch, Aether returned home to the City, though jaded from his experiences in the Warzone. Wanting to feel he had an impact on a smaller scale, Aether then applied to join C-Sec's academy, despite the faction's shifting reputation. He excelled in his courses and exams, soon applying to be a detective after only two years. Despite his lack of experience in the police force, in light of interviews, further testing, and an excellent resume, Aether was given the position, choosing a Pokémon as a promotional bonus. While he is happy with the job, Aether has found his caseload easy for the first three years as a detective, solving easy-enough investigations, once again showing promise in his field. Perhaps his superiors haven't found a reason to hand him something more challenging yet, preferring their veterans to try handling them first.

Personality
"Icy" is the word coworkers, friends, former classmates, former superiors, and family used most in interviews given to C-Sec investigators and board. And it's true. Aether is a aloof, strand-offish, reserved, and distant. To those he does not like, who are not many, he is very cold, preferring to speak as little to them as possible. Aether may not know how to have fun outside of work, since most of his talents are derived from or applied at work. He is not the life of the party, and isn't one to take the stage or draw attention. It can be hard to get him out of his shell when not speaking with him over professional matters. However, he has had two lovers in the past that he has allowed himself to be vulnerable around, and are still confidantes. He discloses his PTSD easily, but struggles to admit when it affects him during his work, such as a grisly scene triggering him.

Protect
AER9 Laser Rifle (Fallout) - The AER9 features a titanium housed crystal array which proved to withstand long years of exposure to the elements much better than the gold alloy housing of the later models. As a result, the crystal arrays stayed focused within operating parameters, rather than falling completely out of focus like the newer models. Power is drawn from microfusion cells and processed through a wave/particle diverter manufactured by General Atomics International.
M-6 Carnifex (Mass Effect 3) - A highly accurate and lethal pistol. The Carnifex is a favored sidearm of mercenary leaders and Eclipse mercenary tech specialists. An expensive but powerful weapon, its marketing materials feature a charging krogan with the slogan "Don't you wish Carnifex was at your side?"
Medi-gel (Mass Effect) - an all-purpose medicinal salve combining an anaesthetic and clotting agent used by paramedics, EMTs, and military personnel, produced by the Sirta Foundation. It heals various wounds and ailments, instantly sealing injuries against infection and allowing for rapid healing by having the gel grip tight to flesh until subjected to a frequency of ultrasound. It is sealable against liquids - most notably blood - as well as contaminants and gases.
Ghost Blade (Dark Souls) - The ghosts of New Londo clutch this wickedly sharp dagger with their bony hands and make mincemeat of the living. "One of the cursed weapons which can inflict damage upon ghosts."
PipBoy (Fallout) - a wearable computers manufactured by RobCo Industries. "Pip" is an acronym (Personal Information Processor). Using "ultra-modern", super-deluxe resolution graphics in conjunction with its capability to store and transfer large amounts of information makes it the obvious choice for the wandering explorer, whether it be the out-on-his-own newbie or the all-around survivalist expert. Versions released outside of Vault circulation were an incredibly handy tool, so useful they even earned a reputation among specific circles as a crutch to lean on that no true expert in travel or survival would ever use. The Pip-Boy is powered by an internal Fission battery, and is also hardy enough to withstand any situation. Pip-Boys also run on a proprietary OS created solely for their function called Pip-OS.
