Gwen wonders about the validity of Black Cat's answer. Strangely enough for a thief caught red-handed breaking and entering with all intent to steal millions of dollars worth of treasure, she seemed like an actually honest person. There wasn't a trace of maliciousness radiating from her being. Gwen leant on the opposite wall, amd found herself continuing to find her a charming person.
Still a criminal, Gwen. Let's not forget.
But perhaps there was good reason that Spider-man had let her go so many times?
"I'd probably be a musician. Or working in the science field. Or some kind of Frankenstein blend of the two. But... uh. I mean, I hate to say this of someone I'm apprehending, but... I agree. The thrill isn't exactly something you can avoid right? I definitely wouldn't say there's certainty in the job, though. Every day is something new and bizarre."
Gwen smiled beneath her mask, but only for a second. She let our a little sigh of sadness.
"I could have done anything with my Spider powers, including being a pretty sweet criminal. But I chose a different path, to help people, to stop the bad guys from doing bad things. I don't want to think of what could have been, 'cause then I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing. People need help, right? I can't ignore the voice in the back of my head."
She was silent for a moment. The last words of her dad before he had died in her arms.
"With great power comes great responsibility. I think that's true for anyone. It doesn't just mean fighting, or saving the world. Everyone has their own skills. It's not what you can do that makes the difference. It's what you use them for."

How many times had she mocked Peter for that same quote?
Felicia tips her head to the side, watching Gwen. There was something about the spider that held Cat's tongue and kept her quiet. She didn't want to mock her or tease her. Hell, if she isn't careful, she just might consider the idea of helping people.
"It's not like-" She bites her tongue, frowning at the glossy floor of the elevator between them. She doesn't know why she feels the need to explain herself further. This stopped being a way to get out of trouble somewhere between the webline and the elevator.
"I help," she says, stressing the word. Felicia holds her hands in front of her, one rubbing the palm of the other. "If its- When I know none of you are around, if I know I can handle it. I've helped before."
The way she says it sounds like she's admitting to a great crime that she ought to be locked away for committing. It is then that the elevator doors slide open and flood their box with the sounds of New York City. The sky has never looked so welcoming. Felicia doesn't hesitate to step out into the night.

Even as Felicia was speaking, a smug little smile was forming on Gwen's face. She leant against the elevator, eyebrows raised in some shocked surprise.
"Oh reeeeeally? Miss Cat Burgular might have a heart of gold after all?"
She snickered as the door swung open, hitting them with everything New York had to offer. The Spider stepped out, arms behind her back, taking a deep breath of the city's air.
"I love this city. Every version of it. It's so full of life, of love and music. I'd do anything to help the people here, and to stop anyone tainting it... more than it already is."
Gwen sighed to herself, smiling faintly beneath her mask. She didn't turn to Black Cat, positioning herself on tip-toes as she gazed out across the bright lights of New York.
"I would be, like, the worst Spider if I thought I was clearing up the streets of criminals but actually was doing the opposite. Don't worry, though, Cat. You're secret's safe with me."
Ghost-Spider turned, arms still clasped behind her back. She was smiling in a knowing way, cocking her head as she looked at Felicia.
"It's not like anyone even knew either of us was here, right? I can keep a secret."

Felicia rolls her eyes at the comment about her heart, content in not looking at the smug little spider. It is only worse because she knows that she isn't wrong. There is a small part of her that struggles to look away when something is happening. Cat survives by avoiding places where crime is likely to happen.
Listening to Ghost-Spider talk about the city, she finds herself acknowledging that she adores New York as well. So much of her life has been spent roaming the streets and rooftops alike. Why did it feel like giving up to just stop being a thief? Why does she find it so hard to just be like Peter and Ghost?
"No one would believe you," Felicia says and she knows it is true. She knows the reputation she has and she's made sure that the people she's helped would never say otherwise. "But I appreciate you keeping it all the same, Ghost."
Those grey eyes find the spider as she turns and cocks her head. Felicia mimics the head tilt, curiosity filling her chest again, however, it is tamed by familiar bone-deep fatigue. It is the opposite end of an adrenaline rush.
"I make no promises, but-" She hesitates as she starts walking to the edge of the MET. "I can try. Thanks for not arresting me, Officer Spider."

"I won't be so nice next time!"Gwen grinned beneath her mask, watching Black Cat walking away. She could see why Spider-man had a soft spot for her. If only all villains were as nice as her... she took a step back, balancing on the edge of the building. Gave the woman a salute. "Any time, secret nice person Black Cat! Don't do anything a Spider wouldn't do!" With that, Gwen fell backwards off the roof, shot out a web, and began to swing through the street from building to building. That was definitely going to bite her in the butt... but maybe it wouldn't. Perhaps it would come around in a good way. Gwen was optimistic. As she swung into the early morning light of New York, she felt hope. [ End]
