Tony dips his fingers in his glass and flicks the water at Barbara as she mentions his size, something like mock offense plastered on his face. No one can blame him now for being crass if she led the way, right? The amusement he carries drains away as she continues, replaced with surprise and then anger. Not at her, of course. Never at her.
No, its aimed more at himself for not having noticed something as important as this happening to Barbara. Given, he's dying and he has all but disappeared from the world as a whole. Tony makes a note to have Jarvis keep him updated on information involving Gordon, Allard, and a handful of other people.
He shoves those thoughts to the side as her eyes close and he finds himself mimicking her position on the counter. Unlike her, he rests the side of his face on his arms so he can look at her. Tony has a great many skills and comforting people is pretty close to the bottom of those. It is just above humility.
Tony gathers that the Joker was involved with her being paralyzed and that her ex is a low tier mage named Spellbinder. He hears that she was Batgirl and he doesn't take the time to analyze that little spark of pride. Of course this woman from Gotham had been a vigilante.
"Warm and bright people can be like that. They draw you in because they're like the sun and you don't remember the last time you were outside." Tony starts slowly as an old door in his heart creaks open. "It feels good on your skin to just be near them and, just for a moment, you feel like you can be happy too. Happy in the way they are happy. They're infectious."
Those brown eyes are still watching her as he continues. "There's nothing wrong with wanting to bask in the sun's warmth. People like us, we aren't anchors. We're more like the moon. We find other places to bring light. Some of us-" and he pauses to tap her elbow with an extended hand, "-are warmer than the rest, but we can all use a little sun."
Tony pushes up slowly, palms flat on the countertop and a snooty little smirk on his lips. "I bet Batman didn't teach you that one. That is a Tony Stark Special. Don't get used to them."
"Oh, and I'm glad to know I was right. You wouldn't need me. You aren't some damsel in distress and you properly kicked ass when needed." Tony says with something too close to pride in his tone. "However, let me know next time so I can help. I may be dying, but I'm not dead yet."
