Miyuki was ready for him... no, that wasn't right. He thought he was ready for him. Things happened so fast, yet also so sluggishly to the boy's senses, that he almost didn't realize what was happening until it was too late for him to do anything. He had even braced himself for getting a foot in his face, but that sensation never came. Instead, there was Umi, who had taken it for him, to no effect whatsoever.
The boy blinked, almost disbelieving what he was seeing. Then, he was brought back to reality. They were scared now. Good. But not good enough. Miyuki knew guys like him. They wouldn't learn the lesson unless they had something to remember them by.
"Ya want trouble?"
Without a moment's hesitation, he lunged at the offending man's ankle, and bit down. Hard. Miyuki clamped his jaw tight, like a piranha latching onto its prey. Though the scene may look comical at distance, there was no mistaking that righteous anger about the boy. It was time for the bullyee to bite back.

The man yelled with pain as Miyuki's teeth bit down hard . It cut through wherever Umi's mind had been, bringing her back to the now. It seemed to rouse his friend, too, who cried out and tried to pull him away from the two hero students. There was a brief moment of confusion, a flurry of limbs and the smell of blood. Umi got an arm around her new friend, pulling him away with her considerable strength.
"I-I'm sorry," was all she could stammer out, but the live hatred was now a burning furnace in the aggressors eyes. As he limped away, he called out over his shoulder.
"You and your terrier better watch yourselves! Beasts that can't control themselves need to be put down!"
Umi carefully released Miyuki, not looking down at the boy. He wouldn't be able to see her face from his vantage point, but her fists were clenched, trembling.
"I... I was always told my size was to protect people. How... how can I be expected to protect someone like that? But I want to be a hero... I have to look after everyone..."
Umi wiped her face with the back of her sleeve, sniffling slightly.
"It's so hard... I never asked to be so big... why can't they just accept us for who we are?"
Umi looked down at Miyuki, her face flushed, eyes wet. She gave him a choked laugh.
"Sorry, Miyuki. He attacked us, but I couldn't fight back. I can't stand the idea of violence! I saw you biting him, but it wasn't your fault. I even apologised to him!"
She dabbed at her eyes again with her sleeve, turning her eyes upwards to a blue sky and something beyond her sight.
"Sorry, dad... I can't be a hero like you, after all..."

For the next minute, Miyuki saw nothing but red. There was no getting around it. Anger had taken hold of his senses, and he wasn't going to stop until these animals got what they deserved. That stopped, if only in part, when Umi pulled Miyuki off of the man's leg. Miyuki had held on tight, and it looked like the damage might have gotten worse if Umi didn't have such profuse strength. He did come loose, though, and try as he might, Miyuki of all people was never going to escape a whale girl's grip. He gnashed his teeth at them as they fled, too angry to yell anything coherent at them as they limped away. For a while, Miyuki was quiet, simply standing still where Umi had let him down. Though he felt like he could have caught up with those punks, he stayed right where he was. He seemed unresponsive to Umi's grief, but he was lost within his own. The boy's thoughts weren't even his own for a time, frozen in the moment. Eventually, Miyuki looked up, and saw his friend crying. "Hey! Listen here, Umi! This ain't your fault, and it sure as hell ain't mine!" He pointed in the general direction that the men had run off to. "It's theirs! If they can't put up with two upstanding Heroes like us, then the world is better off without 'em!" Miyuki started hopping in place, swinging his balled fists in the air like... well, he was a child, but that wasn't the point. "I don't wanna hear you sayin' yer not a Hero, Umi! 'Cuz... you are, okay?! You're, you're better than me, that's for sure!" Miyuki stops his hopping. He tugs at one of his arms. He was looking down at his feet now. "You... You tried to do the right thing. I just... beat them up. Like an animal." He ran a hand across his snout. It caught tears and snot, which he did his best to rub away. He reached up to Umi with his clean arm. He has trouble meeting her eyes, and not just because of the height difference. "Come on. Forget the dumb clothes. Let's just get out of here."

Umi wiped her eyes as Miyuki spoke. He felt more anger than her, and perhaps he was right. She shook her head as if to shake those bad thoughts from her mind, then crouched down so she was more or less eye level with her classmate. She placed her hands on either one of his cheeks, squeezing them gently.
"Thank you, Miyuki... you're not an animal either. You're right... they did goad us. Biting a civilian isn't good, but you did it out of kindness! I'm sure it'll be fine."
Umi drew out a handkerchief from her sleeve. Having several younger siblings meant she was never without one. She resisted the urge to do it herself, instead giving it to Miyuki to wipe his nose and eyes. Umi felt better, knowing she had made a new friend. Knowing she had someone who was as fond as her as she was of him!
"You're right, it'd be nicer to go somewhere a bit less hectic. How about we just go back to dorms? I can always make up some seaweed rice balls for us to eat!"

"Mmmm, see that?" Prism giggled. The two stood at the end of the corner. The invisible one of the two wiggled with excitement. "I've seen plenty. Better question is did you get it on film?" A white-haired teen sprinted off to catch up with the victims. Prism would follow behind, though the only noticeable marker was her boots stomping. "I always do! And don't leave me behind, I'll kill you!" The two made quirk work in little time. A gunshot could be heard in the distance. The crowd cleared, making the place scarce quick. A scream could be heard from one of the men, the other presumably dead. The two young heroes would be introduced to the smell of burning flesh as November walked up, something dragging alongside him. "Oi oi oi. I think you let him off too easy chibi-chan, and big-chan. People like this should really be taught a lesson, right?" He stood tall, holding the man by the neck. With such a difference in size, the man should have broken free but the heat applied to his neck had him in a weak panic. "Heroes can't let villains like this off so easy right? Right?!?" He shook the struggling man like a sack of potatoes. November's frame was skinny but his strength was apparent, being able to handle a person with a single hand. He was obviously baiting them both, but he was serious about his inquiry to Miyuki. He caught a snippet of their conversation. They were hero students. Like Nocturne, this purple boy seemed to be prime bait and good television. He already had the video saved, all that was left was to boot it to Kirishma for processing. Nov made sure not to kill the man... yet at least. He'd pass off a smile as if all these actions were logical. "Lots of villains start off as young bullies don't you think? Better to punish them now rather than to have them develope into REAL bad guys, right?" He wasn't that much older than those two. High school aged, but he was obviously a threat.

He sure felt like an animal. Animals didn't regret their actions.
Miyuki snatched the handkerchief out of Umi's hands. He tried not to show it, but seeing Umi come down to his level like that, it... well, never mind that. He blew his nose, loudly. The article of clothing was all but spent now. Miyuki felt bad, but Umi-san had given it to him in the first place. It was... nice.
The boy tucked the handkerchief into a back pocket in his shorts. He looked to her, smiling through his fangs. "Yeah. I'd like that." He had half a mind to, uhh... the thought was quickly dashed from his mind. Don't be stupid. You're just hungry and tired.
THe gunshot split the air. Miyuki's ears perked vertically, and he skittered across the floor over to Umi's feet. He spun back around, feverishly looking around for the cause of it. His worst fears were realized when he saw this person - ...kid? - run up to them with a man Miyuki wished he didn't recognize. Miyuki was trembling, barely able to comprehend what had just happened, and so quickly. How did they- "You... You can't just..." The dragon boy's voice cracked, bereft of that fire from before. He looked up... and up at the boy. He didn't look like much, but he was huge, and he was handling that grown man like it was nothing. He looked like he could go to U.A., and he had just...
Miyuki tried to say more, but the words died in his throat. They needed to get out of here, Miyuki knew that, but his feet were rooted to the spot, his tail all but tucked between his legs. He held onto Umi's ankle for dear life.
The worst part? Deep down, he didn't even disagree with what this guy was saying. Animals didn't regret their actions.

"You can't just hurt others because you don't like them!"
Umi finished Miyuki's words, rising to her full, imposing size. She looked down at the boy, fear flooding through her veins. Yet there was also bravery, and she stood against the villain with a strong determination not to back down. Her eyes were on November, fists clenched and eyes brimming with a specifically Umi style of anger.
"Just because you think he's a bully, doesn't mean you can cause him pain. Killing... killing is cowardly!"
She took a deep breath, a steady hand resting on Miyuki's head. The two of them were in danger, but Umi couldn't back down, not when there was a civilian in danger! What was this villain's quirk? Something to do with burning...
Umi took a step forward, a small one but one none-the-less.
"Miyuki... I know what you're thinking, but you're nothing like this person. This is a villain, someone who doesn't value anyone's life except their own. Let the civilians go, or... or... or we'll have to take action!"
Umi released her hand from Miyuki's head, fists clenched. She was ready for... something bad. Eyes fixed on November, steady as the morning seas. Whatever this boy had to throw against them... she would do her best to stop it!

"You... You can't just..."
"I can't?" As if shocked by Miyuki's response. "But you just did..." Indeed he did. Which was right and which was wrong? It was the very reason the villain thought to introduce himself. He thought they were on the same page. They were, but there was Umi trying to wiggle her way through with that heroic nobility nonsense. "Miyuki... I know what you're thinking, but you're nothing like this person. This is a villain, someone who doesn't value anyone's life except their own. Let the civilians go, or... or... or we'll have to take action!" She'd say. He chuckled.
"Now why do people make things up like that? I have things and people that I care about too. Plus... killing is anything but cowardly. Do you know how hard it is to take a life?" He paused, grip tightening around the man's neck. The noise of struggle permeated behind his next words, the man in his clutches pawing for any kind of help... "We're... the... same. You still haven't tried to help this guy... it's because we all know he was in the wrong. Let's raise the stakes. " They were heroes, right? Perhaps watching a man die in front of them was a part of the curriculum. November loosened his grip just enough for the poor guy to raspily exhale some sincerity... -if one could call it that. For November it just seemed like obvious desperation. He looked at Miyuki and Umi, "I-I'm sorry, o-okay?!!?"
"Ooooooh. He's REALLY SORRY. He just said you needed to be put down a few moments ago. Do you see how deep his hatred for mutants is? Only since it's come THIS FAR, that he's decided to be sorry." He'd reach for his pistol. He'd waive it in the air as if presenting it. "So do we forgive him? Was that a good enough apology? Let's raise the stakes once more."
Disturbingly he'd lay the barrel on the man's temple. "Is he friend or foe?" Then put the barrel to his own head. "Friend or foe?" Pointing the gun at Umi, for Miyuki she was a "Friend." Then pointing to Miyuki, a silence... Then finally back to the man in question. "BANG!" The gun would click as he pulled the trigger. He hadn't loaded this pistol. Just a scare tactic.

Umi's words caused Miyuki to stop seizing. Despite how deafening the situation was to his senses, her words reached him more clearly than any other sound in the moment. He looked up, not at this villain, but at Umi, standing up to him. His fists clenched tight, but no longer out of fear. She was a real Hero... and so was he! Miyuki got to his feet, snarling at their enemy. This wasn't to say that Miyuki wasn't scared anymore. He was terrified. Every bone in his body was screaming at him to run away. This guy had a gun, after all, and he clearly wasn't afraid to use it. But there weren't any Pro Heroes in sight; he and Umi were the only ones who could do something about this. The boy narrowed his eyes, growling as he often did when he was starting to lose his patience. "Raising stakes"... he kept saying that, but Miyuki wasn't so sure. He started to breathe heavy, enough that his skin was starting to glow warmly. Purple embers were escaping his mouth and nostrils, but faintly. "You're, you're just a... big bully, with a gun. You're no better than he is."Click! For a moment, Miyuki's life flashes before his eyes. He isn't even the one who was about to get shot. Images run through his mind, most of which he doesn't even recognize. Purple, orange, green, all of them familiar, painfully familiar blurs. There had been a gunshot back then, too... apparently. If they got out of this, maybe he could talk with Miss Flashfire about it. There was so little of it that he could remember. Just as quickly, Miyuki came back to the present moment. He needed to make Miss Flashfire proud! "You won't kill him. You want me to do it."Miyuki took another step forward. This time, it was with purpose, aimed squarely at this thug who thinks he's just like him. A primal fire burned in the boy's chest. "I won't. And I bet you won't, either." Miyuki puffed his chest out. He folded his arms proudly in front of him, striking a pose that he had seen in one of Retribution-sensei's old DVDs. The purple flames were much more present about Miyuki's mouth now. The embers were becoming more visible, hotter. This guy was toast. "But we will stop YOU. Because we're Heroes! So why don't you put that guy down and we settle this like men!..." Immediately, Miyuki regretted his words. His shoulders slumped, and he craned his neck up at Umi. His confident smile was replaced with a sheepish, jagged grimace. "I-I mean like Heroes! Settle this like Heroes!"

As the boy shouted bang, Umi instinctively moved herself in front of Miyuki, between him and the barrel. Yet there was no actual shot, the gun empty. She exhaled deeply. For a moment, Umi had thought the worst. Now, she realised Miyuki was right. This villain was goading them on to do something bad!
"He's entitled to think what he wants... heroes don't take personal revenge just because they don't like what they hear!"
Umi took a step forward, eyes flashing with a fierce determination. With Miyuki next to her, she felt strong, and this young villain was just one person! Granted, with a hostage, but...
"Let him go. He's done nothing to you! If you want to hurt heroes... then aim all of your attention to us! Innocent civilians shouldn't be dragged into our fight!"
Umi's heart was pounding. Her quirk wasn't made for quick, decisive actions. With the civilian there, it was hard for her to do anything against the villain. She had to get them away from each other, so her and Miyuki could act!

His shoulders slumped, and he craned his neck up at Umi. His confident smile was replaced with a sheepish, jagged grimace. "I-I mean like Heroes! Settle this like Heroes!"
"I'm not sure you know what you want to be." The steam punk chuckled.
"Let him go. He's done nothing to you! If you want to hurt heroes... then aim all of your attention to us! Innocent civilians shouldn't be dragged into our fight!" From Umi
"Soooo~ touchy. Sheesh! What fight? I don't recall either of you laying a hand on me. This is a conversation that this not-so-innocent person is not included in... " The hand around the man's neck seemed to be losing it's color, shifting into an opaque white. As the air cooled further away from him, it was beginning to become more obvious that his power of heat was based in steam. It was too hot to bare, the man wouldn't let a noise out but his pained expression was enough for one to understand. Tears rolled down the man's face, as life slowly... slowly - November would toss him right to the heroes before totally killing him. The only way to save him was to take him to a hospital immediately! Their was a scorching hot handprint still visible on the man's neck as he fought for something as simple as breathing. "You're right. I only was gonna kill him if you made it interesting. I've already gotten what I want. I can say that with confidence." There was the cue. His eyes pitched to Umi, as if he had something vital to say. He wouldn't let the secret slip now that he was "unarmed." An unknown and incredibly sharp object would find itself slowly gliding along the lower back of Miyuki. He wouldn't be cut, only teased by an invisible assailant wielding what one could assume to be a knife. Prism would giggle knowing it was a very shallow slicing, but oh the sweet sweet element of surprise! If Miyuki made any subtle movements toward November, he'd be stabbed again. "No sudden movements to me or my friend, please. Just do your hero thing, and ugh save your bully." November prodded the two with verbal spikes.
With a satisfied nod, he'd say " Mmm, I'll raise the stakes one last time. Not like you'll know what I mean until it's too late." November would holster the pistol, and swap it for a cellphone. With a send button, he'd blast the short video off to Kirishima for an express broadcast. The sooner they could get this out, the better! Of course, sending it meant he'd have to destroy the phone(it wasn't his phone anyway), which he would. The device cracked as it was sent to the ground, frying from the boy's residual heat. "Well, Chibi-chan... Big-chan. Anything else you'd like to discuss before I go on my merry way? Consider this a humble hello from Team Confidence. Saying hi is all I really wanted. " He laughed as if his entire being didn't come with imposing despair.

He did it. The bastard actually did it. Wordless rage escaped Miyuki's flaming mouth, but only for an instant. Before he could position himself to roast this Villain on the spot, he felt a prickling sensation on his back that quickly turned into something much worse. Dark crimson spurted from his back, and he fell forward immediately. It was complete luck that what flames Miyuki was able to get out didn't make their way to this guy, but rather fell just a couple centimeters shy of his feet. Even at that distance their heat could be felt. It had only been a few embers, and it was enough to melt through the floor itself.
The boy tried to speak, but all he accomplished was coughing up more blood. The flames continued to bubble on his tongue, but it couldn't cauterize everything. With all his strength, Miyuki lifted his neck to stare November dead in the eyes, then weakly slammed his fist into the ground, spent. Some Hero...

Umi squeaked in frustration as November tossed the man aside. Was he hurt! She didn't dare move, frozen in place, and then she heard a small thumb beside her. Miyuko fell forward, bleeding from a wound on his back. Umi cried out, but November's words stopped her from reacting. Him and his friend? She looked around, wildly. Was there someone she couldn't see, or that could attack at range?
Umi felt adrift, lost. What could she do? Her fists tightened as she turned her head towards November. She was at a loss for words.
"Don't... don't think you can get away with this!"
She crouched by Miyuki, using her size to shield him, eyes now fixed on the villain. A hard, frantic expression was plastered on her face.
"You can't... you can't just do something like this and walk away!"

He let out a chuckle. To Umi's dismay, there definitely WAS someone else there. Miyuki was quick to react, but Prism was quicker with her knife. As the boy fell, She'd drop the knife and scamper off to make sure she wasn't in the line of November's attack if he needed to. The footsteps were light indicating someone small, but the pitter patter of her steps grew distant. With a quirk that uses scalding hot steam, the punk couldn't participate too well in team battles. It was best for Prism to evacuate now rather than later. As Miyuki spit up blood, November chuckled as if the boy's agony were tickling his sides. "Oof" He said, smiling at the stab wound. Umi would shield them with her size. "Don't... don't think you can get away with this! You can't... you can't just do something like this and walk away!""This sounds like you're challenging me." He'd unwrap his hands and forearms, revealing scarred and tattered skin. It was a clear indicator that he'd seen his fair of fights, but it also meant there was some hellish training he'd gone through to reach temperatures this hot. He'd keep one hand behind his back, but made it a point to aim his other palm at Umi. the limb would distort as parts of it emitted white hot steam. It was a thin vapor for now but the air would become hot and muggy. " I think you're a little too worried about something you're clearly not ready for." The hand pointing to her would return to normal. It was going to create such a toll on this girl all the more if he did get away with this. SO, it was the correct choice for November to make. With a sigh, he- "Haaaa~ If you're gonna cry about it... Fine. go on and help them before they die... I'll be walking away, now. OH! Before I forget, we'll have a present for you tonight on the news. " There was a wall of white steamy clouds building behind him. Slowly backing into the wall of steam, he cackled one last time. His voice lingered on longer than he did. The steam cloud in its entirety would lift up into the sky. There it slowly drifted away, seamlessly blending in among the rest of the sky. Booming from above, his voice-"Welcome to the life you chose, heroes. From Team Confidence to you, welcome to a life of fighting crime. " For Team confidence, they dreamed of a world where heroes were knocked off their pedestals and villains could do as they please in blissful anarchy. If crushing dreams early was a part of the process of tearing society down, then November would lend himself for the "greater good."

"U-Umi-chan..."
Miyuki could barely get out the words. So many things hurt, his brain hurt from trying to keep track of it all. Things were getting hazy... how much blood had he lost? It couldn't have been too much, right? He was big... strong... that's what Ms. Flashfre always said. He wasn't... gonna give up, that easy...
The boy took a deep breath, and pushed, hard. He gave it everything he had to lift himself up. Through the yelps and whimpers, all Miyuki managed to accomplish was turning himself over on his side. He was looking up at Umi now. His vision was fading fast.
"I'm, I'm..."
Miyuki's head slumped. The rest of his body followed, cradled weakly in the whale girl's lap. He looked at peace. Not in a fatal way... not yet, anyway. His chest still moved, if faintly. Although Miyuki was down and out, he looked pretty good for someone who had just gotten stabbed. The wound itself, while not closed, didn't look as severe as it had been when the knife first found its mark.
But did that really mean he was okay?
