Countershock - Thunderclap!
It stunned Kagayaku, standing without purpose as Kako released her supermove. His expression was one of pure shock, frozen in space. Several bolts hit him, leaving scorched marks on his body where they landed, but he didn't even seem to notice. After all this time... it was like a confessional. She didn't really hate him after all? Could it mean that she viewed him as more as someone who abandoned his family years before?
Kagayaku seemed to shake out of his funk after a few seconds, and brought his own arms wide. Lighting coursed down both limbs with a vicious intensity. Even his dampening bands seemed to be unble to contain his raw power, sparking and smoking. Kagayaku grinned, elated that he could let loose like this... and against his own granddaughter. Possibly the only person that could stand against this new power...
"Thunderclap... Countershock!"
He brought his hands together in the well-known clap of his titular supermove. Now, however, it released not just thunder, but a blast of electricity with it, a rapidly expanding sphere of lightning that cracked the very ground that it grounded into!

Her eyes widened when Thunderclap was unphased. He was moreso caught in the moment, but from her viewpoint, the improvisation was a total failure. She didn't have much time left. She could feel each attack getting weaker as her Max Battery specialty was running out of juice. The smart thing to do would be to dispense the excess into an empty battery, but her grandfather was already shifting to his own offensive move. She was going to need all the electricity as she was going to get. His own thunderclap would transform into a charged beam. Now that he was able to use countershock, there wasn't the same old limitations to short-range like before. Kako just barely evade, she winced in pain as burn wounds accumulated. She could feel an idea coming, and as she reappeared to Thunderclap's right-hand side, everything went black. Before she knew it, it felt as though time were moving in slow motion as she began her descent onto the ground. The battery dropped like her body soon after. Muscles that were once tensed with fury were feeling heavy and oppressive. Her head began spinning with extreme nausea and her eyes were swimming in hope for a sense of direction. It wasn't like she gave up. In fact, in her struggle to move from the floor, strained gasps for breath escaped her lungs. As much as she wanted to keep going, her body simply wouldn't allow it. Tears heated and hissed off her face as she wriggled and whimpered. This not only was her first fight in U.A., but her first time going all out, against Kagayaku no less. As much as it was an achievement, it didn't quite feel that way. She'd been hating him, and practically icing him out since she'd met him. If one could attempt to call this bout progress, Kako struggled to find solace in the moment. She was the bad guy here, not him. Gathering herself a bit, she clenched her fist tight enough to draw blood. The attempt to clean herself up would only make her look more of a mess as the blood smears would replace her tears. She glared at the ground, but there was no disdain for him. She was too busy beating herself up for not being able to win. Who did she think she was to assume she was going to in the first place? One arm would weakly shift her weight, the other supporting herself to at the very least get into a kneeling position. Shakily- she'd give him a stern response. "Copy cat...don't try to help me up either." Being nice to him so soon was an impossibility. Her best bet would be to prod at him until she could muster up the strength to properly gift him the same warmth she gave her friends. She could barely stand, but she would by will alone. A step. A stumble. Getting back up, she'd only repeat the process, but upon the second drop she fell unconscious. To rest after such an ordeal, and possibly even have gained an ally in all of this. Kako smiled in her exhausted slumber, though her body quivered in pain every few moments or so. A silence would fill the space. ... A presence encroached. In fact, it was a mystery how long the fellow had actually been there. The voice was unfamiliar and rather judgmental, "So that's how things go around this place. Looks like I'll have my work cut out for me. The hero course sounds like a headache to deal with. I guess I'll be seeing more and more patients soon.... Fine by me." He spoke through a support gear snorkel. He'd take his jacket off and lay it right next to the second year. It was soaking wet and seemed to be made from the same gelatinous material as jellyfish. His quirk was not only active, but slowly drawing from the water that sat in the air, and pulled it to his jacket. A dazzling foam of white, turquoise, teal, and deep blue whirled as he carefully moved Kako onto the quirk made substance. "I won't ask the point of such a barbaric display, but I will ask that you follow me to my office. You'll be needing medical attention, too..." He'd wrap the girl up in his foam covered jacket, and cradle her. He would begin to walk away but would stop before half-turning. At the very least there was a tiny bit more kindness in his voice- "Oh yeah... I guess it IS our first time meeting. My name is Robert Brine. I'm not exactly ranked like all of you big timers, but pleasure. Terebi pulled me onto the staff to save you idiots from injury. Let's work hard together."Legal Name: Robert Brine Alias: Dr. Brine Quirk Name: Seafoam Picture:Notable Achievements: Not much is known of him. He's one of those heroes that blew up overnight. Kagayaku was ready to lurch forward to help Kako, but her words stopped him. Pride. What were people without it? Still, he couldn't hold back as she fell unconscious. His quirk was still dancing across his skin, ruined gloves left to one side, but he couldn't leave her, he couldn't...
His thoughts were interrupted by a newcomer, who swept Kako up and spoke rather frankly at Kagayaku. He bowed his head, feeling a sharp shame in his breast... yet it did not overcome what he had felt, fighting against his granddaughter. Static still covered his body, but it had calmed, and he found that he could reduce it down with some deep, heavy breaths.
"Ah... apologies. I guess I did go a bit far... but this was more than training, for the both of us. My name is Kagayaku. It's a pleasure to meet a new face."
He glanced at the unconscious girl in the man's arms, then lowered his head. Kagayaku stored the last of his static away, then began to follow Mr. Brine back to his office.
"This... isn't the usual practice, I assure you. Kako... she has some anger in her heart. I hoped to draw it out with what I know best... but even violence can't temper an angry soul. Stupid, old man. Even in the end, I couldn't think of family more than being a hero..."

Brine winced at Kagayaku's response. The doctor was a pacifist by nature... to him saving people held the highest importance, and in that case violence was warranted. Training... well that was a special case. One could say it was needed, but this seemed to breach a line of some sort. There clearly seemed to be some nuance in what was wrong or right with any hero. The good doctor would spare all the detail and instead just gift Kagayaku a curt, "Stupid yes, though I can't speak on familial relationships..." No, he'd give the old man a bit more. "I've severed my ties, I'd recommend you do the same. You'll find out how much more productive you can be." He had no clue to the situation the hero was in. In fact, it was almost as if Kagayaku were meeting a person who'd taken his own route but with the utmost lack of care. "To match and combat the world's cruelty, it only makes sense there are areas where we may become cruel. Heroics is strange in that way."While this was how he really felt, something felt off about saying that out loud. As he held the girl, he looked over her features, and was able to put two and two together... quite the foot-in-mouth situation. "In any case, I'm going to be pulling students from classes for physicals and quirk examinations. Would you be interested in aiding me?" This man was insanely truthful, almost to a fault. "I'll get fired if I don't show Terebi proper productivity. We could start from year 1 and work our way up." He'd cut his eyes to the hero. Robert wasn't the best at making friends, a true solo hero at heart... HOWEVER, if he were to be a part of staff, he needed to not stick out so much. The wet man struggled to maintain eye contact. It wasn't like he asked the guy to lunch, or to be friends. He didn't have those either. He wasn't going to break down his whole life story for a stranger. Only characters in an anime would do such a thing. Ridiculous. But Having a helping hand couldn't hurt. Kagayaku knew the school like the back of his hand. That amount of knowledge would make for a prominent fr-NO, ally. So far, he received a quick rundown from the former nurse. Compared to other grades, this year's freshmen were a wild group. He'd already met Koito... several times. Another... Yoichi. Another, but he'd only heard about this one from Koito, Zenjia. Perhaps this Kako girl was another troublemaker? Robert had actually been so deep in thought, he hadn't realized the silence he was slowly procuring.

Kagayaku gave a hollow laugh as he followed Brine. Severe his family ties? He had done that already, yet they still found ways to wrap around his throat and heart. He struggled to respond in words, but luckily for him the doctor moved on rather swiftly. Quirk examinations? He mulled it over for a second. It had surely helped the young Atsushi and Alain to have their quirks tested, and the bunch of first years were a far more unstable lot. Just watching their actions in the entrance exam showed that.
"Of course... to aid the future generations of heroes is the reason I retired as a pro myself. There are plenty of wild ones in this new batch of aspiring heroes, and many that need tempering. What sort of examinations did you have in mind?"

Brine opened a door to the nurse's office. He was given the liberty to decorate as he pleased, so he did just that. A large saltwater aquarium filled the space, mainly so Robert would have access to the waters he was used to back home. The room was cold and sterile, a perfect environment for his work. Other than that and the tint of blue, it was just like any other nurses office. Removing Kako from his jacket, he'd pulled more water from the surrounding tank with his quirk and created more super healing, nutrient-rich foam. "Premier Aqua." More healing sea foam would whirl over the girl's body. There was plenty to spare, and he's direct his hand toward Kagayaku. The foam would roll over the man like a luke warm blanket with a salty aroma. It would tingle at first, but there was a distinct and hearty sense of rejuvenation as they popped and shifted along his body. Even Kako's breathing settled greatly as she slept, which was a nice sign seeing as she took far more damage.
" It would behoove of everyone if they knew exactly what they were dealing with yes... or as close to as exact as we can get. The third years are bit less important, as they have a foot out the door..." He perused few his cabinets, before finding the right thing. His mind wouldn't fall behind- "As for the younger ones. They only know their quirk as their parents have taught them. You teachers only know their quirks as the students describe them to you... an unreliable source." There they were. He'd place a pain killer on a tray with a fresh glass of water on the desk nearest to Kako for when she woke. He'd rustle the pills, and stare blankly at Kagayaku. Did he want one? The good doctor wouldn't ask out loud. " Seeing as physicals are already mandatory, wouldn't be smart if you just recorded proper data about each quirk? I've seen some of the files here, and I think it's a safe assumption that some of the students haven't tapped into their true potential because they don't even know what they're working with. "
Sitting down at his desk, he pulled up a clipboard. "It will vary depending on each quirk, but a stress test of obstacle for them to overcome should be enough. We're going notes, the old school way. If anything sticks out to you as a teacher, you can spread that to the other teachers. I can't say my eye will be as good, but I'll attempt to do the same. "

Kagayaku watched in wonder as Brine's Quirk first covered Kako, then himself. Remarkable... it was a truly powerful healing Quirk. He flexed his hands, feeling the injuries Kako had given him fade away. He glanced at the girl, frowning slightly. Kagayaku had lost control... his quirk had awakened into something beyond his understanding. He looked at the doctor, not interrupting until after he had said his peace.
"I concur. It is definitely a good idea to train these young heroes in the best possible way. A Quirk examination... tailored to each specific student, we could push their powers and see what they are truly made of."
Kagayaku mulled this thought over, and concluded that he quite liked it. Brine certainly had a head on his shoulders when it came to his job. Kagayaku wondered what he had done before.
"We should start with class 1-A. Some of those young heroes have quirks far beyond what we have seen at this school before. They will need all the aid that we can give them, if they wish to utilise them to the fullest."

Brine was happy to persuade Kagayaku with his logic. Perhaps calling his ways barbaric before was a bit harsh. He looked to Kako, who seemed to be waking up slowly. The smart thing to do would be to give the two a bit of time, so he would. "So it's settled. We shall administer UA's first officlal Quirk Case Study and Physicals." His confident yet doubty stride would lead him out the door. Wiping the crust from her eye lids, Kako rose. "Why am I wet? Where.... oh... you..." She hadn't anticipated seeing him when she first woke up. With a wobbly and longwinded bout just to stand up, Kako stood as tall as she could. "IF you really want to know what's going on, talk to Gigabite sensei." She slowly muscled herself out of the room. While her wounds were healed the fatigue was overwhelming.

Gigabite? Kagayaku watched his granddaughter leave, a confused expression across his face. He looked across to Brine, then gave a short laugh, shaking his head.
"Sometimes I feel... like I should have packed in the hero work and stayed with my family. That girl... I hope she isn't doing anything foolish."
Kagayaku took a deep breath, then stretched out his arms, his muscles. He nodded at Brine, a formal show of a growing bond.
"I am ready. Let me know when you require my assistance... Robert."
