Everything's different. Ever since she's been attacked at that mall, nothing has ever been the same. It was harder to focus, and she didn't even know what it meant to be a hero anymore and now...
Now she has gotten in trouble. Or she thought so, anyway. Kachiya was a nervous wreck, as she approached gigabytes office. She had half a mind to not even show up at all but... she couldn't do that... even though apart of her didn't want to come face to face with this, there was something within her- maybe the desire to not want to disappoint gigabyte further?- made her walk up to the office despite being a nervous wreck.
What did he want to talk to her about? She didn't have a clue. She was still doing pretty good, she was keeping up with things, turning things in mostly on time... she couldn't be in trouble for her conduct in class, could she? She was always a good student, and she still tried to be as good as ever. She had talked to the counselor but things still didn't make sense, her views were skewed. What she thought was right she wasn't so sure of anymore.
She stood outside his door for a good minute before raising her hand to it, knocking on it, waiting for an answer from the other side. She could run now, he might not be there...
She could drop out entirely... but she couldn't risk disappointing everyone. That would be too much. She made alot of friends here, but she didn't want to talk, even to them it was-
She wouldn't have much time to have all these inner thoughts plague her mind in silence, a voice from the other side would eventually answer her and she would be prompted to enter to which she did, slowly and sheepishly, not meeting the eyes of her homeroom teacher

"Come in."
Klaus was not doing much. It had been a slow year to start. As far as he was concerned, that was a good thing. Busy times made for stressful times. No news was better than no news at all, and so on. In his compact office, the Beetle Hero was hunched-over his normal-sized desk, which was terribly small for someone like him. It made for a rather comical scene when Kachiya walked inside. Klaus' head rose to meet her. His antennae twitched, and his lesser mandibles clicked twice, in greeting. As much as Kachiya believed herself to be in trouble, Klaus did not show it. For him, this was an ordinary office visit. He gestured for the girl to come inside and take a seat.
"Ahh, Kachiya. Thank you for coming." He raised two of his arms, using them to careully cradle his chin over his desk as he stared pointedly at her. "Do you know why I asked to meet with you?"

Kachiya had sat before gigabyte, keeping her gaze away from his. When she did dare to sneak a peek to see his facial expressions, it was odd. He seemed as casual as he ever was, leaving the girl feeling more confused than she was before.
She had straightened her clothes off, and was fidgiting with the hem of her shirt sitting there in silence until he broke it further.
She would take a moment to process her answer, furrowing her brow as she did so
"N-no sir"
She stated, her voice slightly wavering. She would clear it, but sounding not much more confident as she did before
"No sir, I dont"
She had finished all the while still avoiding looking at him.

Hmm... That would not do. The girl wore her truth on her sleeve, though her very words spoke to the contrary. Klaus' antennae twitched. "Kachiya, please look at me when I am speaking to you." It was a firm suggestion, spoken firmly, but it was only a suggestion. Whether Kachiya decided to play ball was completely up to her. Klaus had remembered how his teachers had disciplined him rather sharply for failing to adhere to their standards of conduct. A woeful mistake he would not repeat. These students needed to be heard, not told.
...mostly.
Klaus adjusted his posture, such that he was eye-level with Kachiya, and that his primary pair of hands were interlaced with one another. "Could you tell me what happened at the mall?"

Kachiya shifted nervously as Gigabite spoke, not having seemed to oblige to his request for a moment, not even answering his question about the mall, rubbing her arm as he even brought it up.
She knew it, he wanted to discipline her but... he wasnt being harsh, not even in the slightest.
After a long moment of silence, she finally raised her eyes to meet his only to find his expression to be completely placid. She couldnt tell how upset he was but... he didnt seem to be that upset. Was he disappointed?
"It all happened so fast, i didnt-- I didnt mean to be involved but but.. villains attacked us out of nowhere.
She finally had answered his inquiry, tears welling up in her eye, breaking eye contact again for a moment to wipe them away. Thinking about the event was hard, and even though shes talked about it to the counselor, and yet to be in trouble for the events, she was sure it was going to happen
"V-vixen was th-there but... she... she asked us to help her. Everyone was in danger, i didnt know what else to do. We- we escaped at the soonest possible opportunity.
She stated, as if she was pleading innocence and for a reduced sentence

Once Kachiya gave her answer, Klaus' antennae preened slightly. He seemed not to be fazed by what she said, but rather by how she said it. "So, you and your friends helped a Pro Hero fight off villains? Do I have that correct, Kachiya? I ask because you are speaking around the issue. I need to make sure that you are saying what you mean, and not implying something else.
"Set aside your expectations and hindsight for what happened. When you decided to act, what was going through your mind, Kachiya?"

Kachiya was quiet for a moment as she fidgeted with the hem of her shirt. She attempted to keep eye contact with Giga Byte but the contact would only happen for a minute at the most. Eventually, after a few minutes of silence she would give her teacher an answer
"Y-yes sir"
She would fall into silence for a moment longer as she contemplated the second question. She didnt want to think of the event, and she had shut her eyes tight, trying to blink the tears away.
"it... it was alot. I was scared, and the villains had cut off all avenues of escape and..... and... vixen needed help, she and everyone else needed help. Everyone was going to die if we didnt help... thats what it felt like, at least. I didnt know how long it was going to be before we got help."
Her eyes were closed shut the entire as she attempted to recall the whole event. She didnt want more tears to fall than what had already did but she couldnt help it. It was difficult, and she was trying to keep her breathing even. She eventually managed to calm herself and attempted to continue answering
"it... it was alot. I was scared, and the villains had cut off all the exits, attacking everyone. I didnt know what else to do"

Klaus was quiet. While Kachiya had her eyes closed, he gingerly moved one of his arms across his desk, slowly placing a hand on the edges of Kachiya's shoulder. His hands were themselves the size of the girl's head, and he wanted to make sure that she would still be comfortable (and that the contact was welcome). "Kachiya... you did the only thing that you could do.
"You became a Hero."
Klaus clicked his lesser mandibles twice, to prompt the girl to focus on him, if she wasn't already. "What matters, more than anything, is that you realized that they needed help, and you gave it. It is alright that you were scared. I would be more worried if you had not been. As for the rules..."
Klaus withdrew his arm, placing it back on the desk. He slowly shook his head and winked at Kachiya. "I will see that you are not punished for it. In return, I would like you to report any future incidents where students are caught in encounters with criminals. Especially if you or your classmates are involved in them. I need to know what I should be teaching in class."
The bug-eyed bureaucrat placed a hand over his mandibles while they chirped in rapid succession. Good one, Klaus.

Kachiya had looked at Gigabyte with a confused expression. She was grateful for him, and he was being very supportive in this moment but she didnt see herself as a hero, not in the way she envisioned a hero being
"I... I did? I thought heros were fearless. Couldnt be scared of anything"
She questioned the beetle hero. His words meant alot to her, she did her best to absorb everything he was saying she expected punishment of some sort... to be let free? In some way at least, it was confusing. She would nod, though at his proposition
"I... appreciate it... I will tell you about encounters I hear about but... Gigabyte sensei.... I dont understand... I appreciate not having a punishment but... rules were broken and... that means some kind of punishment has to happen, right?"
She was feeling more comfortable around him, his enlarged hand on her shoulder making her feel as if nothing could harm her, at least in this space. It was a nice feeling to have

Klaus clicked his smaller mandibles twice at Kachiya. He raised an index finger - nearly as large as Kachiya’s torso - to elucidate a point. “You understand that you broke a rule, and it was wrong to do so. The guilt itself has taken its toll upon you, Kachiya. I am not interested in punishing students unless I absolutely have to. In my experience, it does not teach them what they need to learn. However.”
Giga Bite lowered his finger, then leaned against his desk to look Kachiya pointedly in the eyes. "Do not make a habit of this. I am giving you another chance because I recognize your potential, Kachiya. If I find out that you have taken this lesson for granted, there will be consequences. Please do not waste this opportunity."

Kachiya nodded in understanding, as well as bowing in thanks as she absorbed Gigabytes words. She understood where he was coming from... kinda and she didnt want to be in a situation like that again anyway. Then she furrowed her brow, she was still confused about his stance on heros not being as fearless as she thought. As she was getting more comfortable with him, she was realizing that she had alot of questions she wanted answers to.
"I... I will tell you everything I hear about villain encounters"
She affirmed, before looking down. It looked like she was pensive about something and it was a major thing that was weighing on her mind
"Er... sensei? What are your stance on vigilantes? I... Vixen seemed friendly with some and... I..."
She trailed off, seeming to be struggling with something
"I... I dont understand. The ones i encountered seemed... heroic. I thought they were all evil and destructive"

Vigilantes... Giga Bite's breath slowed. The word stirred memories within him, some of which were painfully recent. Kachiya was such a sweet, impressionable girl. Children like her were oh so vulnerable during times like this. The restraint was somewhat plain on his bug-eyed features as he considered his answer. He steepled his arms on his desk. Even from the light pressure that he permitted, the furniture squeaked under his strength.
"'Evil, 'destructive'. I would like you to avoid using those words, Kachiya. The world is a complicated place. Though the profession is referred to as "Pro Heroes", this line of work is less black and white than many would care to admit. When we use these words we undercut the importance of the work that we do. Many of the problems that we face are not simple things that require simple solutions."
Klaus blinked. His lesser mandibles chirped. It sounded off-key. "Vigilantes believe that they are doing the right thing, outside of the law. Sometimes, they are correct in their beliefs." Giga Bite flexes and unflexes his dominant pair of hands. "At the end of the day, they are operating outside of the law. People who do this are criminals, no matter why they are doing so. We uphold the law, in all its forms. Vigilantes are not exempt from the system they claim to support. We will speak about vigilantes during the year in homeroom, Kachiya, but I will say this: There is a reason Vigilantes do not stay within the system of licensed heroes."

Kachiya listened and absorbed the words, or tried to but she struggled to understand gigabytes points. It was alot of information to absorb, but there was one thing she could do. She had nodded at Gigabytes assertion to attempt avoiding using words like evil or destructive. She didn't understand it fully, or much at all but she knew her teacher wouldn't lead her astray.
"okay... I'll try but what words should I use instead?[/color][/b]
There was a strong desire to understand and comprehend completely what it meant to be a hero, and to understand the laws to the best of her abilities so she can best act out her duties in the best way possible

Klaus hesitated. His lesser mandibles clicked once, and then again, after an awkward beat. His antennae twitched. "I cannot tell you that, Kachiya. That is something you will need to figure out for yourself. It is not something that can be resolved in a single conversation."
Was it that complicated? Perhaps he needed to take his own advice. Kachiya was proving to be quite precocious. Even taking aside the matter that had brought her to his office in the first place, Klaus would need to keep an eye on her. To think what she wanted to do with his students...
Klaus rose to his full posture, which was still in a slouching state, so that he did not loom over Kachiya too much. "We will be discussing these things and much more throughout the year, Kachiya. I promise, you will not be lacking for enrichment."
