"Hey, it's Strive! Can I get an autograph?" "Ooh I want a picture! Please take a selfie with me!" "Oh my, you're so handsome in the flesh!"
"Thank you, citizens! It's great to see you all! Strive to be the best you can be!"
The Number One Hero was out on patrol. It was mid-morning, and he had already stopped a robbery, saved an old woman from a traffic accident and taken over forty photos with fans. Strive was in a good mood, striding down the streets with his classic shield and classic smile.
It was officially his tenth year as Symbol of Peace. He wasn't a big headed man, but he loved it all the same. The job was his ideal role! He stopped to sign a book for someone as he reviewed how lucky he was to be here. Number one for ten years in a row... guess I must be doing something right!
Yet there was always more he could do. Crime had dropped considerably since he became a hero, but there were more and more villains these days. Strive was a man who could never stop thinking about what the future held. He dreamt of a world where everyone could live in peace and security! It wasn't just a pipe dream. If he pushed himself, Strive was sure he could make this dream a reality!

"KYAAAAAAAAAAH~~! Look, everyone look! The Number Two as well~! It's King-Sama~!"
Half a dozen of the fan-girls present at the gathering near Strive would soon whip their heads around as they heard the squeal, and they proceeded to cry out in awe as well as indeed, the Number Two Hero would stride up to the crowd as well. He seemed a bit indifferent towards the crowd around them, sometimes even trying to dampen the excitement, but he'd sign autographs and take pictures all the same, for formality's sake. King was not really one for fame and fortune, as he wished to focus himself on actually saving lives and performing Hero duties. But, one of them did include to inspire awe among the citizens, so why not?
Finally, however, he'd make it up to Strive, as he'd give him a bit of a polite, yet challenging grin.
"I figured you could use a little bit of alleviation from this massive group. Seems only fair I take part of the load off your shoulders, no?"
Strive would be able to tell that King was indeed trying to lighten the burden... but in a bit of a playful manner.

"Well, well, if it isn't the Number Two!"
Strive clocked King, and gave him his biggest grin, flashing him with a powerful thumbs up. The crowd seemed like they would explode with excitement, with the two top heroes here in the same vicinity. Strive locked eyes with King, giving his fellow hero a small raised eyebrow.
"Surprising to see you in my neck of the woods... hey, it's got a bit noisy here, huh? As much as I appreciate your help, perhaps we should find somewhere quieter to chat!"
Strive grinned, then waved farewell to the adoring crowd as he turned, motioning for King to follow down quieter street.
"Thank you, adoring citizens, but King and I must be off! Strive to be the best!"

"Really, that surprised? All of Japan counts on us all, Strive. Just because your main hall of fame is here in Tokyo, does not mean that I should be unfamiliar around here."
King chuckles a bit as the two of them pose and smile for the cameras and fans, the crowd just bursting with energy to the point where one could swear it was ready to erupt! And even if he did dislike the whole 'fame' part of being a Hero, King could not lie... it was nice to get recognition for his deeds. But, he was indeed here for a bit of business, so he appreciated Strive's attempt to distance them from the crowd, and he'd walk with Strive for a bit until they were out of earshot.
"Well, I say you've handled that well. Ten years as the Symbol of Peace, eh? You must've had it quite well, what with all the attention you've been given. Not to mention your crime-stopping record. But I try, as usual, to not slouch behind. It almost feels as if but yesterday where I was able to take down a gang of bank robbers by myself."

"Ah, you flatterer! But I'm just trying to do my best."
Strive grinned at King, flashing his classic Okay pose. Truth was, the two of them had been close rivals from the start. Strive had always forged ahead, but King was always only a few steps behind. Strive embraced the competition. It pushed him to be a better hero with each passing day!
"Well I remember a certain school sport's festival, like it was yesterday... we had a few foreign transfers come and participate! I still recall that I had my butt handed to me by you. It was before I had proper control over my quirk, like I do now!"
Strive smiled warmly at the memory. King had come from France, along with Sizzle from Russia, to represent their different countries against Japan's finest. It had lead to them being able to get a Japanese Hero License in the end.
"Ah, I remember that fight so well. Third bracket in the head to head, but your armour Quirk was just that bit too strong! Still, these days I reckon I could get the edge over you... After all, I'm not the Number One for nothing!"
Strive grinned slyly at King, prodding the embers of their rivalry with a pointed stick of mirth.

"Always 'Striving' to be the best, as usual~"
King mused with a chuff of a laugh, straightening his coat a bit as him and Strive would just hang out for now. If there was ever a hero that got him to 'loosen up' so to speak, it'd have to be Strive. The one hero who was always that much better than him, and striding onward in both power and popularity, always keeping King pushing to do better. And do better he did. He was not Number Two for nothing!
"Yes, I remember that all too fondly. Or... as fondly as I can."
He'd grimace a bit, enough for Strive to notice it, and he'd also notice that King's gaze had wandered up towards his face, more specifically honing in on the center of it. That scar that ran across the bridge of his nose, and under his eyes. Strive loved to brag about it and tell tales of how he got into a close call with a Villain, and that is why he had it. But few knew the true story of it.
For it was he who had given him that.
In the third bracket of the head-to-head fight, him and Strive had been teamed up against each other, and it had been a close fight for both of them. They had traded blows for minutes on end, neither side wishing to give up. And in one moment or the other, the frustration and adrenaline of their rivalry had sparked something within younger Blanche's mind, and he had, for a lack of better term, snapped. He had accidentally unleashed his Hellhound Armor, which was his most powerful, but unstable armor, and he had inflicted that wound upon the Number One Hero.
"... I do still feel like I did not deserve that win. I lost control of my Quirk, and it was only due to that side of me overwhelming you that gave me the victory."

Strive scratched absently at the scar that traversed the bridge of his nose. Really, he had King to thank for a portion of his popularity. Heroes with scars just showed they weren't afraid to back down. Just because it hadn't been a villain... he grinned, nudging the other hero with an elbow.
"Hey, you got there on your own merit, didn't you? It was still a victory! In the world of heroes, a victory by chance is better than a loss any day."
Strive laughed, a radiant smile on his face. Reminiscing about the old times... it made him think of Speed. What was he up to, he wondered?
"Still! The past is behind us. It sure has been a while since we crossed paths. What have you been doing, besides chasing my shadow?"
Strive gave King an amused wink as he said this, laughing outwardly once again.

"...not there, I swear..."
Across the street from the two heroes, a giant of a man shambled through the crowds. Even for the rags obscuring his form, he was impossible to miss: from the claws poking through his sleeves, the shadow of a tail slithering behind him, and especially the jarring odor coming off of him. Those he bumped through (or more often, shoved through) didn’t take kindly to him, but they took even less kindly to each other afterwards. One of them, an older woman, lashed out with a right hook to a younger man’s jaw, sending him sprawling, which only spurred many others nearby to begin fighting each other. . In response to the effect his presence seemed to be having on the surroundings, he clutched his rags all the tighter as he quickened his pace. His destination seemed to be elsewhere.
"...hell to pay."

"I'll have you know, I've been doing quite well for myself. Musutafu has not been any safer than ever, thanks in no small amount to my contribution. But fellow heroes, both old and new, are springing up as well, and I've had my hands full judging some of them."
King notes that Strive seems wanting to change the subject, so he rolls along and talks about their recent doings instead. But indeed, Musutafu had become a hot-spot for new budding heroes, and as the Number 2 on the ranking, he had felt it is his duty to 'weed out' those who are of importance. It lead him to think of the current Nr. 15 on the spot, 'Fighter Shrimp'. Hadn't he just accepted his old 2A student Jack Williams as an intern? Good on both of them.
"This new generation looks promising, Strive. But as always, we must keep them on the right-"
Suddenly, his eyes avert to something distracting him, right across the street from where they stood. He was unable to catch who threw the first punch, but right after that it was as if the crowd erupted into a cavalcade of fisticuffs! King's eyes widened as he'd catch Strive's attention, pointing out the chaos... but also that undeniably giant shape of a man hurriedly walking away from the scene.
"We have to stop this sudden mayhem immediately, Strive. But I got a sneaking suspicion that we have a suspect already. Go after that man. I'll try and pacify this riot."

The commotion caught Strive's eye, as did the hulking robed figure striding through the crowd. Strive nodded at King's words. It made sense, playing into both of their strengths. He swung his shield around, extending it into their metal board and leaping on.
"You got it!"
As he spoke, he activated his quirk. The shield shot forward at second gear, moving swiftly so he was in front of the giant in a few quick seconds. Strive leapt from his shield, landing solidly to face his opponent, swinging the shield around until it was reduced to its round state, slung over his arm.
"Greetings, citizen! I must ask you to slow down... because you appear to be causing a commotion!"
He gave his signature smile, two fingers against his forehead.
"I don't know whether it's your quirk bring activated by accident... but do not worry! A simple misunderstanding which we can solve easily right here! I Strive to make sure everyone is treated right and fair!"

As soon as Strive put himself in front of him, the stranger growled. His countenance beneath the rags turned into a snarl while the rest of his towering body came to an unceremonious halt. Strive barely had time to get out his overbearing introduction before his body was met with the force of an automobile bearing down on him. With alarming speed for something so large, he sent out an open-palm strike, which would in all likelihood send Strive sprawling to the ground, if not across the street.
"...ay the fuck outta my way, 'squeak."
Munbling under his breath, the stranger continued on his way, as if nothing of consequence had happened. He didn't have time for this.

Now, he had to stop this rioting mass, and fast. King was sure Strive could handle himself for the time being, so he focused his efforts on the crowd first. A swirl of green and icy-blue energy surrounds him, the air getting a bit colder as even his eyes change color to a frosty white hue, a suit of armor begins to shift and form around him as he dons his Cocytus Armor and leaps into action, the tip of the lance accompanying his armor releasing a hiss of steamy frost as it glides through the air. He jumps into the front of the crowd, jabbing the spear-tip into the asphalt as with a flash and a frosty breeze, ice and rime shoots out in a wide cone in front of him and travels along the feet and legs of the citizen, freezing and trapping them in place, as well as crawling lightly up along their torsos and arms, freezing them in place as well. He made sure that the frost was not too cold that it'd harm them, but solid enough to hold them in place and pacified. "Please, cease this disorder at once! You are all better than this, noble citizens! Do not give in to whatever feelings of ire and rage that course through you. Stay calm, and we shall figure out who is behind this."He announces to the crowd, before he turns to spot Strive being attacked by the tall stranger, but he held his place and observed for now, ready to join in if Strive needed it.

"Greetings, citize-"
What he had lined up in his mind ended half way with a grunt, a clang of metal and the noise of feet skidding across concrete. Strive only had time to raise his shield, which took the brunt of the blow. He came to a halt a dozen metres away, lowering his shield slowly as he stared across the distance at the giant. Strive glanced at King, seeing that he had stopped the crowd, for now at least. He exhaled, straightened up, and began to walk back towards the large, robed figure.
"That's a rude way to interrupt someone. How about I give you another chance before I take things to the next level? Stand down. Manage your quirk and be on your way. Otherwise, you won't be going anywhere, except prison!"
Strive readied his shield, a classic smile on his lips.
"You're picking a fight with the wrong Hero!"

The stranger stopped in his tracks. For how long he stood there, weighing his options, it may even seem like he was going to do as Strive said. This was the Symbol of Peace, after all, as well as King. Two of the strongest Pro Heroes in Japan. He turned to leave… then, suddenly, his entire body tensed. His tail, largely hidden from view under the cover, whipped into action. It gripped a nearby fire hydrant and with a single tug, plucked it out of the ground, chucking it straight for King’s head in the same motion! The large man moved his neck from side to side. It cracked in both directions, sounding like the crunching of bones. Slowly, he faced Strive, who remained the focus of his attention. Now that he was looking at him straight on, Strive would be able to see the glowing purple lights peeking out at him. With one tug, the rags fell to the ground around him. Though it hadn't left much to the imagination before, seeing his full form put things into perspective. He was ten feet tall, thicker with muscle than anyone Strive had seen before, and last but not least, most definitely not human. His head was like some kind of snake, proportionate to the rest of his body and glowing with a deadly purple hue. He was wearing no shirt, which exposed his monstrous hide, though the pants and shoes he was wearing seemed to fit his figure just fine. He reared his head back, and roared. It was an ear-splitting noise, one that people would hear for blocks around. Rather than flee from it, though, many people, shellshocked as they were by what they had just been hit by, started shambling towards the origin of the noise like the previous crowd had. These people differed in that their agitated state seemed much more severe. Their movements were more haggard, feral, and if one looked closely, their eyes had traces of the same purple glow that was coming off of the stranger’s body. The people that King had subdued were quiet now, lost in whatever stupor that had come over them. This was to say nothing of the force behind the roar itself. Cars, trash bins, pedestrians, and most things that weren’t bolted down in the current city block were uprooted like a strong wind had come through like a cannon of catastrophic air. The Villain - for what else could he be? - clapped his massive arms against his chest twice, a goading gesture to these Heroes. They wanted serious? He could do serious.

"Correct yourself, dear Strive. He's picking a fight with the wrong HEROES."King adds in quickly after Strive's heroic statement, and even if his face wasn't visible beneath his helmet, it was clear he was smirking slightly over to the Nr. 1 Hero. But he did not have much time to celebrate, as with lightning reflexes, a tail whipped out from under the Villain's rags, and wrapped around a fire hydrant which was ripped and chucked at King's head in one fluid motion! He'd act quick, two-handing his lance as he'd thrust it forward, impaling the fire hydrant and freezing it instantly, before he'd bring his lance down to smash the object as it shatters into fine ice crystals. After dealing with that assault, he'd quickly leap into position to flank the Villain, putting himself a few dozen meters behind him and putting him in-between himself and Strive. The reveal of the Villain came as a bit of a surprise, but he had seen Mutation quirks similar to his before... maybe not to this extent though. He looked more alien than animalistic, and it was a cause of minor concern for King, even as he stood stalwart against the Villain. Then came the roar, threatening to launch King off his feet if he hadn't stabbed his lance into the ground to anchor himself, but that did not seem to be the roar's aim, as suddenly he'd see even more people rushing in their direction, more ferally than the others before, and their eyes were tinted in the same purple glow as the stranger's body. King himself felt a bit of a strain in his mind, grunting and holding one hand to his temple, feeling it throb with an intrusive idea... but it quickly subsided as he'd steel his mind for the task at hand. Realizing that they'd be overwhelmed like this, if these entranced citizens were on this guy's side, King acted quickly as he'd make his lance hiss with frost anew, before he'd jab it in the ground again, and this time ripped it upward and backwards, as ice erupts from the ground beneath him and towers upwards, creating a giant blockade of ice that stretched upwards to the very rooftops. At least now they would not be overwhelmed too quickly. "Stand down, heinous Villain! You will be no match for us!"He proclaims, raising his lance and aiming it towards the Villain, frost still hissing off its tip.
