[spoil]
Amalgamos was a place of many different worlds, from the skyward kingdoms to the towns and cities on the surface. Yet, most don't dare speak ill of the Underworld that lies beneath, the plains of the dearly departed and the lost among the surviving crowd. Just as there are mortal lives that lurk on the surface, there are gods that watch over them. And this is no different within the layers of darkness under the crust. There lied the lord of the dead, Hades, eldest brother of lord Zues of Olympus and lord Poseidon of the Seas, and his faithful lover from the high mountain, Persephone, daughter of lady Demeter of the four seasons. Together, they bore the sole child named Zagreus, the son born of both above and below, destined for great things.
But alas, to their chagrin, the child with flaming feet and valorous eyes was still upon his birth, dying in his family's arms. Broken and longing for a place to belong, Persephone fled from the Underworld in grief, secluding herself from her kin. Nyx, the ancient mistress of the night, sheltered her from those in her family that wished her back on the mountaintop, just as she had sheltered the family from the eyes of the gods after Hades took his lover from the surface long ago. Feeling the pain of her close allies, she took it upon herself to use her divine prominence to bring forth the lost child back from the depths of oblivion, raising him as his foster mother. As the bearer of the sisters of fate themselves and the caregiver of the brother of sleep, Hypnos, and the brother of death, Thanatos, she made sure that the young prince lived well under her guidance.
Many centuries passed since that day, the prince heavily training in combat under the wing of the great hero Achilles, and working under his father's guidance in the tending of the supply of paperwork regarding the many, many shades that take residence in the Underworld. However, over time, he faltered in his father's work and continued to fail in his duties within the vast offices. Hades, highly disappointed of the lack of commitment, fired him from his place in the work force and banished him from the important responsibilities he neglected so. Their troubles were made manifest even more when the prince stumbled upon a precious letter made in the writings of his true mother, Persephone. He confronted his father bravely, wishing to find her and get the answers he seeks, yet the lord of the dead was adamant that he not speak of her name in this household as long as he lived.
Determined to find the truth of his upbringing, Zagreus wasted no time in preparing his travels. He acquired the assistance of Nyx to help give him protection and strength with the shadows of night, and he also had access to the relics of old, taking hold of six weapons from the armory that he could use. Out of all of them, one was the closest he bonded with as the others stayed hesitant to truly give their potential to. Stygius, the sacred blade entrusted it's power to him as he started his trek through the many levels of the Underworld, the great codex given to him by his trainer Achilles to continue filling with great stories while on his journey. He knew from his father's teachings that the many floors of the deep twisted and turned like the walls of a labyrinth, making it nearly impossible for anyone to escape the depths. That was a challenge he was willing to take.
His attempts to escape the darkness of his home has earned him the favor of the many gods of Olympus, who have recognized him as the son of Hades and Nyx. One by one, they greeted him through their divine messages and gave him their blessings each time he attempted to escape, wanting to accept him as a new god among those that lived up on the mountaintop. He even got blessing from a being as old as time itself, the mysterious but benevolent Chaos. Each and every death he suffered only made him stronger and wiser, the son appearing again and again in the waters of the River Styx within the chambers of the House of Hades. Eventually, his godly power awakened more and more, enough for him to surpass the wrath of the fury sisters, including his childhood crush Megeara.
From Tartarus came the scorching fields of Asphodel, where he fought through to the edge of the lava plains and bested the fearsome bone hydra that protected it. He'd then ascend to the calming high-class city-scape of Elysium, where he fought challenger after challenger that came his way, eventually making it to the arena where he claimed victory over the legendary pairing of the renowned warrior-king of Athens, Theseus, and his companion of the lost labyrinth, the minotaur Asterius. Finally, he rose up to the complex and treacherous Temple of Styx, where his multi-minded Cerberus awaited him. Not wanting to fight his beloved pet, he ventured through the many paths within the Temple in search of a solution, and he found it in the form of a sack of delectable meat for the hound to feast on, giving him access to the outside at last. However, there was one more obstacle in the way of his journey...
His burning feet touched the snow on the ground as he left the temple, finally reaching the surface world. Only now, he finds his own father, Hades, waiting for him as he gazed upon the land of the living. He was furious to his own kin for going out of his way to find his mother, and he insists that he returns to the depths from whence he came. Persistent in his demands to find the truth, he challenged his own bloodline to a battle to the death on the surface, father and son in the heat of combat as their ideals clashed against one another. Eventually, Zagreus emerged victorious as Hades fell into the River Styx and returned to the darkness below. Now he was free to explore the land as he saw fit, and he did so as he ran through the wilderness, following the path he was told to find that which he seeks.
Beyond the frozen overlook. Await the first glimpse of the sun to your left. Then onward through the cold. The directions stirred in his mind as he made his way through the snowy wastes, and step after step, he managed to make it past the trees and rocks in order to travel the right path. The sun's strong glow touched his face for the first time as he walked through the forests. And then, like a fire in an icy cave, the prince finally made it to a warm and prosperous cottage, surrounded by rigorous fruit and vegetable plants enveloping as a garden. And in the distance was none other than Persephone, his true mother. After some confusion with his revealed self, they embraced each other as mother and son, catching up on their complicated lives together.
However, their time together was cut short with a grim realization. Zagreus's body grew deathly weak after a time of being out of the Underworld. That's when it hit them. He shared the same kind of curse that befell his father. He was physically bound to the depths below, and the further he strayed from it, the worse his condition became. The sisters of fate were cruel to him this way, and so he had to depart, dying once again. This time, dying of completely natural causes. But not without promising to do everything in his power to keep seeing her.
From there, the prince began his incredible struggle to get all the answers he needed from his mother, going out of his way to climb the depths of the land of the dead again and again, fighting the protectors of the Underworld and even besting his father many times over to visit the lost queen Persephone time and time again. And with each visit, he grew to understanding the king and queen's relationship more and more. Deeply wanting to bring them back together once again, he went to find proof that Hades had still had his heart set for the maiden herself. He got the idea to break into his father's chambers to investigate, finding a small portrait of the queen on his nightstand, old and dusty. It had been there for the longest time even after she had gone. The next time he visited and risked his own life, he told her the news about the truth of their relationship. After all this time, Hades still loved Persephone so, and wanted to be with her above all else.
After one more attempt to leave the Underworld once again, he came to the surface to find that his father grew to understand his situation clearer than before. All the things that were happening, all the troubles and pain that took place, it was all by his mistakes alone. And Zagreus, his own son, was risking life and limb to fix them on his behalf. He admitted how much of an obstinate, overbearing, miserable excuse of a husband and father he was. He loved her terribly, and he realized that he was only delaying the inevitable. So, much to the prince's surprise, he willingly allowed him to go and see his mother. No violent confliction whatsoever. And so, concerned for what could happen later, he went on to the cottage as always.
But there was another surprise in wait for him. When he arrived, he had noticed a couple bags of luggage by her side. Persephone had finally made the decision to go back to the place where she had once lived before coming here. She was going home, back into the Underworld to live with her family, the family she belonged to. And she also prepped a ride as well! On the nearby riverside, a long raft sat there waiting for them, along with the captain ready for their departure. This was Charon, the boatman of the River Styx and personal friend towards Persephone and her husband. He was also in charge of a few local shops that Zagreus visited on his travels. Now they were ready to return to the depths, together as mother and son. So, they departed through the River, the prince's health returning to optimal levels as they made their journey back home.
Upon arrival, the queen opened the gates to the House of Hades and returned to her husband, as well as her pet Cerberus. From here, Hades went on to reconcile with his wife and especially his son, making amends for his deception and neglect. Afterword, however, there was a new problem for them to deal with. There was a strong risk of Olympus and the Underworld going to war because of the way that Persephone was taken down with him, causing a stir within the gods themselves. It was especially present with Demeter's dismay over the loss of her daughter. None of the other gods knows what had happened to the maiden. The last thing they needed was a family conflict as big as a continental upbringing. So, the queen devised a plan to settle the matter, a get-together to help try to reunite the divine family once again. Of course, she needed the help of both Hades and Zagreus to do it.
The prince was tasked to send invitations to every single god of Olympus that he was in contact with, continuing his ransacking of the land of the dead as he made his travels. His breaking of the walls and defensive measures of this place revealed many flaws in it's structure, flaws that couldn't appear in paperwork. So, he was tasked to keep attempting to escape so he could travel the surface, battling through his father again and again as he sees fit. The prince respectfully agrees, and did his job well, successfully making it to the surface again and again and sending letters to all the gods he bonded with through their divine messages. Before they knew it, it was time to prepare.
When the time came, a great festivity was held in the House of Hades with all the gods of Olympus attending. Zeus, Poseidon, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, all of them arrived ready to party through the night. As they feast, Persephone told of the tale that transpired for them, with the meeting between Hades and herself, their love transpiring, their living in the Underworld and their raising of their son, Zagreus. She told of the bond she made with him, of the time she ate a number of pomegranate seeds to tie herself to the depths with her husband. And despite their persistence with their son, he was determined to reconnect with their lost family, so he did everything in his power to leave this place in search of the other gods. Their tale was splendidly told, and with all their problems solved, Zeus welcomed his eldest brother back into their familial circle with open arms. They were truly together again at long last.
The gods departed from the realm below, and the family had to do their cleanup of the place afterword. Their tale was enough to bring a peaceful outcome to everyone in their circle, and so they shall keep it that way for all time. Still, the prince wanted to explore the world above more so than usual, wanting to discover new places and meet new people, expanding his horizons. However, there was the bond with his home to think about. How would he ever stay out of his realm for that long? That's when he met back up with Charon. The boatman generously gifted Zagreus with an enchanted vial that would prove incredibly useful for him. When he made it to the surface, he grew curious and decided to try a drink from the well in Persephone's cottage. That was when he felt the surge of dark energy through him after filling the vial with the water and drinking out of it. With this vial, he's able to greatly extend his vitality outside the boundaries of his home, as long as he drank from the vial during his time up there.
True freedom was now his to take and use as he saw fit. With his Stygius in hand, he'll travel the world and learn of a new life under the blessed sun, with a new kind of people to protect. And should he die again, he'll always be welcomed back into the depths of the House of Hades, ready to break out and continue his adventure once again...

Visual Appearance: Zagreus is 5'5" in height and 163 lbs. in weight, having a slim and athletic body with white skin. He is a handsome young man with moderately cut pitch-black hair and has dichotic eyes, left eye being blood red and right eye being bright green.
Clothing/Armor: His main attire is a relatively refined red, black and white cloth, like a form of toga that was specially sewn to last during years of battle. It has a trio of canine-like skulls on the shoulder cloth, reminiscent of the famous hound of the Underworld, Cerberus. The look is completed with a skull belt around his waist, red pants and a pair of dark grey skull-plated battle garments on his lower legs. He often has an orange and red laurel around his head, shedding petals that burn and disappear in mid-air, and his feet are often glowing hot with high temperatures whenever he's excited, tensed up or ready for battle.
Personality
Zagreus is largely defined by his persistence, good humor and wit, and his kindness. The man never wavers in pursuing his goals, never showing any sign of doubt in his efforts, even in the face of his father's wrath. He is often shown to be humble, good-humored, and often sarcastic and self-deprecating. His jovial, if somewhat-insubordinate nature allows him to easily befriend the many people he encounters, treating people of lower status as his equals, although he is respectful of his elders, aside from his father, especially his fellow gods on high. He is sometimes shown to be somewhat blasé, which has led him to offend the people around him or act without thinking of the consequences. However, he often reflects on this and is quick to apologize when he oversteps. He has a mischievous side, and is fond of pranking others.

Abilities/Powers
What does your character have power-wise? Can they climb really fast? Can they shoot energy beams? Physical Immortality: Zagreus's aging is immensely slowed, almost to the point of non-existence. He can never age, but he is still able to die in various ways.
Bound to the Underworld: Because of the burden his father carries, he is physically tied to the energies of the Underworld itself, and his body and powers grow weaker the further he strays from his home. This is countered with the use of the Vial of the River Styx. Also, whenever Zagreus dies, he gets dissolved into a puddle of red liquid and gets transported back to the House of Hades in the Underworld, emerging from the River Styx to restart his journey once more.
Death Defiance (LOCKED): This enhanced power within his family bloodline allows him to cheat death in he were to fall in battle. If Zagreus were to die in whatever fashion, he automatically expels a charge in his reserve that not only resuscitates him, but brings him back to half his health so he can continue the battle.
Number of charges: 0 (Must be unlocked over time, Max. 3)
Ancient Historian: His several centuries of living has made him knowledgeable in the many tales and stories of the old world in Amalgamos, especially that of his familiar territory.
Prowess in Combat: His many centuries of training with the legendary Achilles gave him the battle experience that rivals that of even the most trained of warriors. He knows the law of the battlefield inside and out, though he tends to experiment with his prowess once in a while. Not only that, but he's learned to increase his speed through dashing, making him a nimble and highly formidable fighter.
Empowered by the Night: His upbringing thanks to Nyx gave him an affinity with the dark energies of the world, allowing him to become empowered by the shadows and it's mana within the area around him, becoming physically and magically stronger in the process over time.
Favored by the Gods: Having strong ties with the gods of Olympus, he'll occasionally seek out messages sent by them to gain one of their many blessings while he walks the plains. Whatever boons he's granted, he has the experience to use them to their full potential while he still lives on.
[spoil]
Zeus > He gives boons that grant him the power to cast chain-lightning with his attacks, as well as causing lightning to strike from the sky uponn nearby opponents in various ways.
Poseidon > He gives boons that empower him with the might of the sea, using knockback force to keep the prince's enemies away from him.

Hermes > He gives boons that increase his mobility, attack speed, evasion, dash capabilities and cast recovery.
Aphrodite > She gives boons that help him inflict Weak on on his enemies to greatly weaken the damage of their attacks, or Charmed which forces the afflicted enemies to attack other enemies instead of him.
Dionysus > He gives boons that allow him to create Festive Fog as well as give him toe power to afflict Hangover on enemies, making them take continuous damage over time.
[glow=orange]Athena >[/glow] She gives boons that significantly boost his defensive options, as well as allow him to Deflect enemy attacks right back at them in various ways.
Demeter > She gives boons that improve his debuff potential and healing capabilities, as well as allow him to Chill his enemies, making them significantly slower to give him an advantage in battle.

Roleplay Sample
A necessary part of your evaluation if you've made a canon character's profile, as we need to see whether you can play your character well, both in power ratings and in personality. Doesn't need to be long or extensive, but we would like to see if you have a good handle on the canon you've pursued.[/align]
Freedom is something to be cherished, along with the allies you make with such a thing. That is something that Zagreus learned very quickly when he first left the Underworld and met his mother for the first time. It's an important lesson, to be sure. He remembered the moments he shared with his family, and all the others that guided him, as he walked through the lush green forests of the Kingdom. It was very different from the several tons of times he escaped from his home of origin.
Normally he wasn't even able to make it this far. He'd already have died again and been taken by the river Styx back to the House of Hades. But, he had a special gift that helped him adapt to the surface world quite nicely. He came across a small stream of fresh water as he followed the path through the trees, kneeling down and resting by the edge of the water. There, he reached into his pouch and took out a nicely sized glass vial, decorated in small bones, red feathers and the symbol of his father on the end.
"This should work nicely."
He took his time, submerging the vial halfway into the water to have it collected inside. As it took in the liquid, the vial started to glow subtly in a reddish aura, and when he pulled it out, the water filled inside was flowing around lushly within as the red energy effected it. Smirking, the prince confidently drank from the vial, taking every last drop into his body. As the liquid flows through his body, the energy from the vial did it's work, revitalizing him and keeping his body stable while he stayed far away from the depths.
"Mm... That should do it. I'll have to see how I can repay Charon for this."
Renewed and refreshed, he put the vial back in his pouch and continued on his path, wondering what kind of adventures he may have as he travels closer to the central towns on the Kingdom. It's strange living on the surface like this, a god amongst mortals. Whatever may happen next, maybe it'll be worthwhile...
"Well, what can I say? I made it out of there before. When the time comes, I'll fight my way out again. And when I do, I'll continue my journey where I left off, as always."
