Despite it being a Saturday, Flynn walked calmly down the hall with Yashida in tow. The deaf teen was sure he could have his interpreter with him for this conversation. He also brought his conversations notebook and pen in case for whatever reason Yashida didn't get the point across clearly. He was pretty sure that wouldn't happen, but this was important and he wanted all the facts delivered straight.
Standing infront of the door to Nocturne's office, he checked his compact real quick to ensure that his scars were all covered. He had a mask on that would normally be used for colds and had on long skinnies under his boots with a turtle neck sweater; it was certainly a far cry from his usual attire. However, he was sure that the teacher had a lot on his plate and mind already so he didn't really want to worry him by showing up with extremely deep, stitched up scars all over.
Once he was sure he was fine, he stood tall and knocked on the door twice before opening it without waiting for a responce. Nocturne, sir, I'd like to ask you some questions if you have time. Yashida interpreted, making sure to get the proper calm and unbias tone in her voice that Flynn was exhibiting in his signing. Flynn was always a strong believe in getting all the facts and every side of the story before making a conclusion, something he had mentioned once in passing during Nocturne's philosophy class if the teacher remembered. Seemed this was no different.

Yeah Nocturne had a usual scowl on his face, but today he seemed particularly dreary. The flack was getting to him a bit. Slowly but surely, he'd inspect some of his old desk trinkets before shoving them into a box. Even his katanas... He'd lay them over the now closed box with a sigh. He had no right being here. If only- Flynn- "Nocturne-sir" He would give sign for "Hello" to his intern as he entered. He'd look at Flynn for a moment before answering. Answers... that's right. Maybe there were those who... no. His detective mind rolled through what possible questions Flynn could ask. Even if he steeled himself to answer, he still wouldn't be ready to face his own interns. None of them had texted him since that damn night...
"Of course." He'd say while clumsily signing back in response.

Please just used Yashida for this. It makes me really happy that you've learned some sign, sir, but for this I would like to make I get all of the information as accurately as possible. The hero student would explain, though with a slight smile shown only with his eyes through his mask as it was true that the teacher signing was an awesomes sight to see. The interpreter would take her place next to the teacher so he could watch both her and him in order to get all possible unspoken messages as well as the information being spoken. Once he was ready and he had all his questions in mind, he would nod to her and start.
I'll get straight to the point. I saw the news. What, exactly, happened there. I want all the details from your perspective. The news has a bad habit of misconstruding things and twisting stories. So I want to know from you. Why? How? What? Please explain as clearly as you can.
He signed candidly and with intent. Flynn was not beating around the bush with this.
I'm not against you, sir, but I'm also not for you at the moment. I will save my judgements until I know your side of things.

How pure of him... Nocturne thought. He let out an exhausted exhale. Explain himself? How exactly? Trying his best, Yoo looked to Yoshida before beginning. "This was just like any other patrol day. We had the time, so we were out in the day time. It's bit early but hey... what's a few extra hours." He stopped himself. ~Stopping fluffing it Nocturne. Spit it out~He thought to himself. "I heard a cry, and when I went to go check it out. It was just a bluff, a tape recorder I thought. Villains use dirty tricks like that all the time. As soon as I thought I'd figured that out I'd crushed it under my foot and this green haired villain confronted me. "
He looked to the ground. "He kept going on and on about this and that. Stuff about how heroes oughtta be and who they really are. I had no clue he was someone I'd saved... apparently in that same alleyway. Naturally I told what I felt. If he was willing to throw his life away as a villain, I'd spit a few words at him... Taken out of context, it's just.... It's not like the whole thing is any better." His eyes bounced up to reach Flynn's, then Yoshida's. He paused... There parts of this that breached deeper than just that day. They reached to who Yoo was as a person. He thought back to his conversation with Koneko before she stormed out of this very office. He was a warrior first... that was the issue. He never deserved a cape in the first place... That how he was currently feeling. Perhaps it was god telling him his Yakuza ways would never truly leave him. "So he traps me, and make this bold claim that the recording was real. You know how thorugh my guys are, I had no doubt in my mind he was bluffing until I heard the explosion. As a hero I chose to try and nab the villain when faced with an option. I always have... To me stopping a villain saves so many lives before their dastardly plots can even happen. It's why I chose detective work and villain suppression only for my agency..." Not that it mattered... The agency would stick beside him, but what about is interns? It hurt just thinking about it. -All the more reason to talk to Terebii as soon as possible. Removing himself would give the kids some peace.

Flynn watched Yashida and Yoo intently nodding as he got the information bit by bit. So the villain tricked himl Flynn was silent for a long while, at least a few minutes. He closed his eyes and thought deeply about the situation, playing it in his head. If it were him, what would he have done? It took some time for him to come to an answer but eventually he responded.
I will say, I'm disappointed to say the least. He noted. But, I don't blame you. By the sound of it, the villain set a trap and you fell for it. Playing the situation in my head, I think I would have at least sent someone to check if it truly was a bluff instead of just assuming things. You are greedy, selfish, or stupid. You ARE headstrong, fast past, and stubborn. I chalk this up to a horrible mistake and a bad choice, but not necessarily an entirely wrong one. It's true that taking him down prevented further problems, but ignoring the threat was where you messed up. Still...
He signed as though he was talking things out with himself, debating what the conclusion of this should be. With a deep breath in and a sigh out, the deaf teen nodded and looked to his mentor with a sad smile hidden by his mask still, but visible in his eyes. As I thought. Your heart was in the right place, you just made a dumb mistake. Humans do that, something many people forget that heroes are I think. I still stand by you, sir, though I am still disappointed that you didn't think to take a villain as seriously as you should. This is a learning opportunity. Even professionals are still students at heart, that's what Yashida always says about interpreters anyway. Why can't heroes be the same?

He remained still. To be honest, Nocturne would have made the exact same choice if presented the situation again. He'd always for the villain. He was a fighter at heart, down to when he was a boy growing up in a yakuza organization. It would never be as simple as go save the hostage, as nobody was there facing that damn snake villain. Turning his back on such a villain likely could have gone even worse. And now that it was posted on the news, it was basically proven the guy was among the ranks of team confidence, one of the peskier organizations rising through this era. One thing in particular stuck out among Flynn reading him the riot act.
"I took the villain deathly serious... that's why I chose the option directly in front of me." A serious expression if nothing else. He'd shift the box open, to shove the last few items in. He'd pick it up, and shift his weight towards the door. "Well there will be plenty of time for me to learn. I'm taking an extended leave of absence. "

You were taking the villain seriously, but not the threat. You shouldn't have just assumed it was a fake out. I agree going after him and preventing more damage in the future is important, but didn't you have a team with you? Could you not have sent someone to go after the girl just in case? That way both objectives get handled. I believe I said this once before in your class, sir, but I am a strong believer that hero work is not a solo gig. It is important to rely on they people we call teammates.
Flynn explained with a raised brow.
I would like to be on your team at some point when I'm a hero, or maybe a sidekick to start before working my way up. Either way, when the time comes, I hope you will rely on me. If you can't put your trust in those around you it means they can't do they same in turn.
Then he mentioned his leave of absense and Flynn nodded.
That's understandable. It's probably best to stay out of the public eye for awhile. The news did a number on your reputation. I, however, make my own judgements. I think you fucked up, but not in the way they are saying. Please, use this time to raise your spirits, sir. Everyong makes a dumb mistake from time to time. It just so happens that when heroes do it sometimes lives are at stake. However, you were able to prevent more harm from being done in the future at least.
Flynn then took a step forward and gave his teacher a hug, whether he wanted it or not. He was always a very touchy feely person and it seemed like the hero needed it. He held it for only a moment before giving him a soft smile and a pat on the shoulder.
I stand by you, sir. Others will too. Maybe not right away, but eventually they will understand your thoughts. In the meantime, maybe try therapy? I'm not saying that as an insult. What happened was a lot. Talking to someone could help. I've been looking into therapists myself.
At that point, he pulled his mask down to reveal the horrendous scarring on his face that formed a Joker like smile and wrapped around his head.
It's unfortunate, but sometimes it takes a tragedy to get us to understand our flaws. Don't worry, the villain who did this had a tree fall on him while fighting Tanzo. He won't be hurting anyone else. But, it made me realize how much I rely on my appearance for my self worth. I need help to, and I have a lot to learn. When all this passes, I hope I can continue to learn from you too, sir.

Nocturne blinked. A hug was the last thing he was expecting. He cringed at first but slowly relaxed. Damn brat... He'd allow a soft chuckle to leave his breath, but he wouldn't say much in return. The wounds were still fresh... The sentiment was nice and so was the meaning behind it, but shoving his head in the sand was all he could envision for now. Or at least getting back home, to be around family. As Flynn showed him his scars, he huffed. So that's what he'd been doing. A bit too numb for a proper worried response, he tapped his own scar over his eye. "Embraced what happened, it can only make you stronger. Mentally and physically. " Even his small bites of knowledge felt off. He usually would have said a haiku here. Everything felt hollow, even his own remarks.
"Patrols are postponed for a while.... I'll be seeing ya around Flynn." He'd smile to the boy, just so he wouldn't worry too much. "Take care of yourself till the next time we see each other. I expect to see you even more clever and strong."
As he made his way out of the office and into the distance, he stared the ceiling. Therapy?

"Sir? Nocturne se- Nocturne-sensei!" Atsushi ran to the man, as he stared at the ceiling, lost in thought. He swore at himself, hoping he got his attention long enough. Damn it he's got a box under his arm and everything. This too late? did he take too long? "Sensei, I... that is I figured, with... Uh..." He cleared his throat to shake his thoughts into something more, 'cool' as he took out an official school paper. "I'd, like to work under you for an internship this year. Need you to sign this."

Lost in his thoughts, a familiar voice pierces an otherwise blackened space. It was a string that was pulling him back, rather a voice. A voice he hadn't heard in quite a while. Atsushi? Yes, that's exactly who was calling him. The world regained its color as Nocturne came back to Earth. He looked unsure, but as far as Nocturne knew he was an unsure kid. The question asked is what really shocked him. The box would slump before being snatched back firm. Intern? Had the kid not seen the news? What merit was there in being around a hero during such a scandalous moment? His expression was already tired, but now gifted with a spark of confusion.
"...why?" There was no sugar coating it, but he had to reel back a bit. "I mean... after all that's happened..."

Okay, good, didn't turn you down outright, there is still time. "Well you are a pro-hero I am familiar with, and my lack of involvement in the sports fest first year I didn't really make other contacts-" Idiot, fine get the aloof 'cool and casual' out of your system and just talk.
Atsushi took a breath, sorting his thoughts. "...I'm not being stupid, I know what happened. I'm not trying to ignore it, or what it might do to my reputation in the long run. But, well, I mean... Even pro-heroes are just people, they make mistakes same as anyone. Just, a person's life isn't just their mistakes, or their worst moments. I want to prove that, I want YOU, to prove that to everyone else, through me. That a hero doesn't just, give up when we can't save everyone." His eyes felt awkward, looking at his teacher so intensely, it felt like he was barging into his personal troubles. It felt, rude.

"Although not participating is your own fault..."
In a way, Nocturne was impressed. This took gull, something that Atsushi didn't seem to have. At least no upon first impressions. Contrary to popular belief, first impressions weren't everything, at least not to the dusk hero. There had been a fair amount of growth between then and now. With a nod, he silently stared at the boy. There is was again... Flynn held a similar sentiment. Human... making mistakes. Nocturne was a top ten hero for years! He wasn't to make mistakes! Before that, he was a son of a Yakuza boss. Mistakes weren't tolerated... He grunted, only subconsciously. A step would lead for his shadow to sculpt itself into a hand to gift him wiggle room. With the box awkwardly supported, he'd reach into his pocket and quietly give Atsushi a black business card. It was the very same kind of card he gave to Serena, Lauren, Shinja, and Flynn. For civilians this was a card to know they were protected. For young students, this was an invitation.
"So be it, young one. If it's a hero you want, a hero is what you will become. " There was a obvious showing of respect, as he normally referred to most students as runts. Despite this, his words felt dead. They lacked their usual sharpness, but it was clear he was accepting of the request. Not only this, he would give a slight bow in respect Atsushi's leap of faith and resolve to follow through. He'd follow up and be transparent, he owed Atsushi that. "I'm taking a bit of a hiatus after saturday and patrols for interns are being postponed after saturday. I need a bit of time to get my head on straight. After that, we'll roll back into things whether that be one on ones, group sessions or patrols. "

He took the black card, grateful but hesitant to take his eyes off the teacher, almost like they might fall into their own darkness if he turned his attention away too fast. "I trust you on that. As much as I trusted you before." This was honest, he did trust him as he did when he requested Nocturne to help his accelerated quirk training... He also trusted that it wouldn't be long before he regretted this choice. That he'd be put through the wringer and thrown against the wall. That he will come to curse this choice just from how hard he will be driven, possibly harder now, as some 'proof' that Atsushi made a mistake. But He wouldn't take back this choice, he trusted Nocturne to be hard, to potentially be mean about his training, but he trusted him to do it to make him a hero. He trusted his word the same as he always did, from one bloodied hand to another. "right... Thank you. I'll, yea I'll see you after, saturday then. Have a good weekend." Atsushi saw himself out, attention fully on the card.

As Atsushi left the office, he would feel a biting chill in the air as Serena walked past him to enter. It wasn't uncommon for her to he surrounded by cold air in classes where she was using her quirk. But this was more intense than when she was just charging up for training... and the stormy expression on her face indicated she was upset. Nocturne was in for a much less uplifting talk next it seemed
Once inside, Serena walked up to the desk, and tossed a folder of papers onto it
"My resignation from your agency." Serena said with a level of calm that was obviously forced. She looked at Nocturne to see his reaction, emotions and thoughts swirling in her head as the room temperature dropped quickly
Unlike Atsushi, Nocturne had a year of working closely with Serena, and would know what it meant when the room got cold around her this fast. It meant she was very upset, and was using her quirk subconsciously in response. It happened rarely nowadays, but it was a surefire way to tell when she was having a panic attack or trauma response ... or when she was absolutely furious... it wasn't hard to tell which one this was.

"And you." He'd reply dryly to Atsushi. He was too emotionally drained to give any good response. Yoo would turn. Ah another... With the cold chill, Nocturne knew a storm was brewing in Serena. Honestly, her response was what he was expecting from everyone. Even if Flynn and Atsushi's displays could give him a fuzzy feeling, they wouldn't be able to parce through the numbness. The broadcast had been shown fairly recently, and the swarm of thoughts were still raw. It was a miracle he could even hold a conversation at this point. The papers would plopped onto the desk as Serena addressed the situation. "My resignation from your agency."
He stared at them, before staring at her. With a bow, he'd reply. "I can understand why. " Returning upright with dead eyes, he-"The year may have been short, but it has been enjoyable." There was nothing he could do that was going to bring that girl back. There was nothing he could do to stop it from hitting Serena to her core either. He could only take accountability, not as a hero, but as a man. He'd take anything she'd have to say on the chin and face those feelings head-on the same way he did with Flynn.
