"There's nothing great about being young. Being young means that you're still naive. That's why it feels like you're soaring in the sky or sinking beneath the ocean when someone you admire betrays you. Those emotions control your entire life and can make you lose sight of who you are."

General Personality
Momo is an energetic and innocent girl, trusting to a fault but immensely loyal and kind. She makes friends easily, always seeing the best in those around her, and will do anything for them. Momo can be rash, allowing her temper (a wild and untamed thing at times) to get the better of her, but more often than not she is strategic and sensible. Momo loved literature, both reading and writing, and is always looking to learn new things. Her curiosity is boundless.
While her personality became subdued after the betrayal of Aizen Sosuke, Momo still reads and tries her best to be good for her friends. She carries a lot of guilt, confusion and anger, yet also an optimism for the future. Momo will do her best for her friends and for Soul Society.
History
Momo was born in Junrinan, the First District of Rukongai. She was an orphan, taken in by an older woman who only had her grandson as family. Momo grew up with Hitsugaya Toshiro, the two of them becoming as tight as blood siblings. Their relationship was built on teasing (she would call him Shiro-chan despite the fact he hated it) but the two promised to always protect each other, no matter what.
Momo had an aptitude for Kido, even as a young girl, and when she was old enough she joined the Shinigami Academy, saying farewell to Toshiro and his grandmother. She excelled in Kido, was fairly decent at zanjutsu and wielded a sharp, keen mind. Momo strived to learn and grow, soon becoming a well-known student among the teachers at the Academy.
She met Izuru Kira and Abarai Renji in her class, and the three of them became firm friends. They all dreamed of becoming vice-captains, and helped each other grow and push forward.
The most memorable part of her time at the Academy wasn't a good one. On a routine mission, her and the other students were attacked by giant hollows. Momo, Renji and Kira defended and saved the life of Hisagi Shuuhei, an upper classman who had been leading their training, and they in turn were saved by someone who would change Momo's life forever.
Aizen Sosuke was a Captian in the Gotei 13, and saved the remaining students from the Hollow threat. Momo was instantly amored by the man, handsome and kind as he was. After the event, the three of them graduated and all entered the Fifth Division through Captain Aizen's influence.
The three drifted apart, Kira and Abarai moving to other Divisions while Momo stayed under Aizen, working hard to be the best she could be. Toshiro had also graduated, a prodigy in his own time, and he became a Captain extremely quickly. Momo was pleased to see his progression. She became a vice-captain at the same time as Kira and Abarai, under Captain Aizen in the Fifth Division.
When Kurosaki Ichigo and the other ryoka invaded Soul Society, Captain Aizen appeared to have been murdered not long after. It mentally broke Momo, who thought it must have been Captain Ichimaru. She tried to attack him but was stopped by Kira, and in her rage she attacked him too. Toshiro subdued her, placing her under arrest.
Toshiro came to see her later, giving her a letter from Captain Aizen. It was a note to say who his killer was. She couldn't believe what it said, as it said Toshiro had murdered Captain Aizen! Using her superior kido, she escaped from her cell. Momo confronted Toshiro, the man Captain Aizen blamed. She attacked him, in such a fierce rage that she couldn't see reason. Toshiro was forced to choose between Captain Ichimaru killing her or being killed himself, but was rescued by his vice-captain, Matsumoto Rangiku. Momo was once again locked up and restrained.
She is released later by Captain Ichimaru, who led her down to the Central 46 headquarters. There, he shows her that Captain Aizen is alive. Overcome, Momo embraces him, only to have her beloved mentor push his zanpaku-to through her chest.
Momo was saved by Captain Unohana, and remained in a stable but comatose state until a few days after Captain Aizen had left Soul Society. Now she is on the road to recovery. Momo may recover physically, but her mental state still needs a lot of work. She tries her hardest to overcome the lies given to her by Captain Aizen, working with her Division and new Captain to better herself and mend her mind and soul.

Expert Swordsman
Hinamori knows enough zanjutsu to hold her own against other skilled soldiers. While her physical strength lags behind her fellow Shinigami, she can still keep up with skill alone.
Kido
Hinamori is considered a kido master among the Gotei 13, one of the most proficient and powerful wielder of spells even among the ranks of Captains. She can use every known Kido spell that someone of her rank is permitted to use, and up to Hado #68 and Bakudo #63 without incantations. She is also highly skilled in weaving different spells together, making brand new combinations by casting different Kido together. Momo also has knowledge of Kaido, or healing Kido, which is enough to heal wounds and stabilise the heavily injured, but not on the level of a trained medic.

Hajike ("Snap")
Tobiume's released form has three prongs along the blade. It can conjur flames and fireballs, which have devastating explosive power. Momo can throw these fireballs at a distance, fast-flying flames that explode when they make contact. She can also ignore objects by touching them with the blade, reducing the explosive force but allowing her to ignite a target with the touch of her sword.

It was her first day back from the infirmary, weeks of healing kido and long sessions with the fourth division. Momo felt unease as she stepped into the fifth division headquarters. It was familiar, yet different, like a painting where a minor detail is out of place, shaking the whole idea of the piece. She frowned, clutching her hands to her chest.
Breath, Momo. You're here because you earned it. You're not just a vice-captain because of... him. Your life is your own.
Momo took a deep breath, and moved into the first day of the rest of her life. It would be hard... but her loyalties were to this division, not... a man. Momo would do her best for Seretei, the Gotei and the Captain!
