Kagayaku was quiet as Kako spoke, slowly eating his portion with a thoughtful expression. It was bringing up memories of his own youth, of a time where his parents when his quirk first came to fruition. Static was not easy to manage, and had been a nightmare in his younger years. His parents had told him being a hero would be hard. They tried to dissuade him, and showed a lot of trepidation when he bull-headedly charged towards his goal.
Kagayaku knew what his daughter was like, and had heard about his son-in-law, though he had never met the man. He could only imagine... slowly, Kagayaku placed his chopsticks down, indicating he wasn't quite done.
"Young Kako... your friends will understand. They love you, and any decision you make will be accepted. I know them both, and they are both two of the most agreeable young students I've taught!"
He took another wonton, chewing with a small smile.
"Your parents... well, they're different. However, it's not for them to decide how you live your life. Young Kako, you need to find the self-confidence within you. The goal you have chosen requires it! Just... know you have friends and family who will support you, no matter what."
He finished his bowl, staring off into nothing, a faint smile still on his lips.
"Life is full of interesting twists and turns. Embrace them! Make them your own!"
Kagayaku then paused, and laughed.
"Ah! I'm in teacher mode again. Come! You don't want to hear the ramblings of an old fart. Take me to the next food stall! My appetite has stirred, and it needs sating!"

Kako was typically in high spirits when she ate, but the conversation left her glum. Sorrowful eyes weakly looked up to him. "But it feels like I've been lying to them this whole time. Like... I guess they knew about my grades, but I don't think they really digested that I'm not cut out to be a hero. I'm only cut out to be me." Whatever being her truly meant. To be honest, she'd only just begun figuring it out. She found herself in silence, staring at the ground as he spoke. She tried taking the words in, but she really wouldn't know anything unless she faced her demons directly. As free as she felt... not telling them felt like chains keeping her from flying higher. In a way, trying to create a relationship with Kagayaku was her first step... but everyone wouldn't be as kind as him. He'd been kind since he met her.
Shaking her head to get back into the moment, she-"Yeah, there's ramen, takoyaki, tayaki, bbq skewers, sugared waffles, ice creams stands, you name it. Did you have a taste for anything? Spicy, sweet salty?" It was weak, but she'd tug him along deeper into the plaza.

Kagayaku gave her a lopsided smile, head slightly tilted to the left, eyes focused only on her. In a moment of rare affection, he reached out to place a hand gently over hers.
"Your friends... I've known them for a while, too. Shinja, especially, is a kind and loyal person. She may have mixed feelings... but in the end, her friendship with you will overcome any issues. Just be truthful. Speak your heart, and she will understand."
He straightened up, coughing, looking embarrassed. Kagayaku wasn't someone who conveyed heart-felt emotion often. He was a man of action!
"They love you for who you are, not what you are. Remember that. Hmm, but the important question... you know, I feel adventurous! I will have something spicy!"

For a moment she'd accept the pat, but a spark would shock the old man's head. She wasn't going to show him she was weak. Kako despite her growth, still had an ego about her. For better or for worse, it kept her intact all this time. Her want to be independent was like a badge of honor for her. While it was nice to show her vulnerable sides for once, she wouldn't let them show for too long. "Thanks... I'll have to take your word for it." Hopefully, he was right about them. She was almost praying for it.
She'd nod. Spicy was the way to go indeed, but she was feeling savory. The way to hit both palette's was RAMEN! "I know just the place. It's not a cart, but we can take a load off. " She meant she could take a load off. She'd likely fall over if they walked too far. "Just around the corner too." Her enthusiasm ever growing. The spot was quant and quiet despite the bustling crowd of people. Not too many people were stopping by. Perhaps it was a hidden gem. The seating was traditional, shoes off and leg beneath the kotatsu table. Kako would plop to her knees, and get herself situated. The first drink was complimentary, as was the first bowl of ramen. The bill was moreso for the time taken rather than the food, closer to an all you can eat spot rather than a true ramen diner.
OOC: We can fade to black soon if you'd like.

The shock surprised Kagayaku, but it made him laugh. That's right! It was all too soppy. The next place found a spot in his heart as well, as he discarded his shoes and eased his old frame beneath the table.
"Ah... this is perfect. How about a toast?"
He raised his glass to Kako, a glint in his eye. This day had gone perfectly. It was everything Kagayaku had wanted from knowing his granddaughter. She was so like him, it was unreal.
"To new foundations, and old friends. It's been... ah, enough of the emotions! Let's drink some more, young Kako!"

Kako would kick her little legs under the kotatsu, and embrace the warmth. This ramen would definitely hit the spot. Hmm? A toast? He really was a sentimental guy. She wasn't quite sure she could get used to it so soon, but it was a nice contrast of what she grew up with. With a mug of ice cold, sparking cider she'd raise her glass as high as her wounded body would allow her. "As long as you don't break out in tears, you old coot." She chuckled, clicking her cup off of his. She wouldn't ever forget this night. It was a warm and fuzzy start to this new stage in her life. Leaning her head back, she'd slam the empty mug down, and hail for another.
"One more for him, and one more for me!"
