“The year is 2223, the world has radically changed from what we once knew. Humanity has been on the brink of extinction. We’ve faced disease, the introduction of zombies, and global warming… I just wanna reminisce on when all this shit even started. It’s driving me nuts just thinking about. I found some old article on what life as we knew it 200 years ago was like… Check it out!”
For those with access to the world wifi, you’re reading a popular blog. This is one of the few websites that can still get current events from the remaining cities. Sadly, it’s only run by one person with a working phone. For better or for worse, you read just to stay abreast of what’s going on in the world. On the website, a news clipping shows an age-old survivalist magazine having an exposition on the shortage of food, the population spiraling out of control, and what steps to take to protect oneself. Parts of this article were eerie as if a premonition on how life would be in today’s time.
1/1/2023
Population: 8.1 billion
The article would roll over all types of things. Things that seemed like fossils by today’s standards. Things that were seemingly making a comeback since most of the advanced tech was tucked away by the rich and wealthy. The website’s author would steer the information for today’s time.
“TODAY 1/1/2223
Population: 10 million and relatively stagnant. I need you guys to understand we're up against so much. Not only is it the conditions of the world... it's US killing each other. Come on, man! We’re our only hope… Honestly, this is my last entry. I can’t keep going on like this. I wish you all the best of luck…

P.S Happy fucking new year I guess… STAY SAFE”

Setting: We may be in the future but this an apocalyptic place. There is a wide range of technology and due to global warming, many things and places just aren't the same anymore. This rp takes place in the United State, primarily the south and southeast. Due to the population density, the northeast is almost all zombies. Well except for Newer York... Somehow that place is still thriving. In the west, the only major civilizations are the crumbling Lost Angeles and the almost impenetrable Last Vegas. In our home turf, the surviving cities are Remember Austin, Dallas Ranch, Nashville Dump, and Miami Everglade. Outside of the cities are rundown towns, and in the rural areas are small colonies and settlements of people. The goal is to SURVIVE and enjoy your life chasing your dreams while experiencing all types of fun and insane things on the way.
Major Cities Explained:
Newer York: Most of the ground level is water. While it became a natural deterrent for some zombies, it welcomes insane wildlife to run rampant. One would need a boat or something to get around. It's very divided between New York(ground) and Newer York(sky). While the population as migrated to manhattan, most construction just kept building upward, ushering the first sky city of our time. These people are smart, a bit rude, and aren't really that great in nature. All they know is tech and trying to figure out ways to make more money. As a precious place to protect, this place is armed to the teeth with Meta-Animals to ward off zombies.
Lost Angeles: A city that's become more beach than city. Tsunamis rammed into this city, and while they don't have as big of a zombie or animal problem, they are incredibly low on resources. They've got some of the most advanced tech, but none of the actual resources to back it up. They often get raided by Last Vegas factions. The people here are delusional... This place still exports plenty entertainment if one even has access to the world wifi. There's also a lot of Extinguished folks here...
Last Vegas: Still a gambling mecca, still a bustling paradise in the middle of the blazing how dessert. Getting to Last Vegas is HARD... Between the many oversized snakes, and tarantulas... The crime rate is rather high, and the city spits out a fair amount of hunters. Las Vegas is kind to strangers if they can make it passed the security guards and raid teams... mainly so they can take your money and rob you of your resources. This place doesn't really lack anything, but it's mainly because everything is stolen or gambled.
Remember Austin: A smaller city. Like vegas, it hasn't changed much, due to the environmental advantages. All the outdoorsy activities and locals Austin was known for make for a natural barrier against zombies and a healthy animal population. It's hard to get in but easy to stay. Honestly, despite being the "weird city" once upon a time, you can find some normal people with common sense. Resources are ok, but not ideal. It's best to try to scavenge San Antonio or Houston or the small towns in between. This place seems nice, but the abrupt tornadoes leave a lot to be desired. When those alarms go off, GET INSIDE.
Dallas Ranch: A hot place, that does well for itself in terms of fire power. Lots of cows to eat, lots of guns to shoot. This place has got resources galore but that southern hospitality died ages ago. You've gotta watch your back because they don't like outsiders fucking up the good thing they've got going. There's zombies, but they can easily defend themselves. Much like Vegas, Hunters thrive here.
Nashville Dump: One of the music capitals. They can give you great entertainment, and great resources, but the zombie problem is insane. All those tourists turned zombie, and it's turn this place into a ghost town. Like Lost Angeles this place is crumbling, but it's a complete gold mine. One just has to be brave enough to get there.
Miami Everglade: A complete wildcard city. Honestly... Florida Man and Florida Woman was once a joke that was made, but now they run the city. Shit is aaaaaaall topsy turvy. As resource-rich as Florida is, they have every bad thing you can think of.
Some other Setting things
Animals- have gotten bigger and scarier to adapt to the new world around them. Some animals can be domesticated, others... not so much.
Zombies and Extinguished- are lurking in this world. They hold no light and evade the third eye.
Meta-Animals- Machines created to defend against the zombie threat. They AREN'T friendly. If you don't see zombies, there's probably a few lurking.
Technology- You may see something a retro as 2023 car, or standard pistol. You may see something as insanely common in this world as a jet pack or charge gun. Choose your tech wisely if you come across any. Older technology is surprisingly reliable. Newer tech typically needs more resources and maintenance but are infinitely more convenient.
Things to think about when making a character
Power System: Almost every living thing has Light, and a Third eye. Light is one's life force, and by tapping into that precious energy one can manifest a special power. The third eye is pivotal for understanding the second plane. This secondary plane layers itself right on top of the physical world, but reveals light. Everyone's got a third eye(metaphysically speaking), and while it can't be seen, it very easily can be tapped into in this day and age. These things are great assets in this crazy world, but they can be burned out. One can still live if these two things burn out but they become extremely susceptible to outside sources changing their body. We would call these people Extinguished. It means one's body is still thriving while the person's has become lost in the second plane. It's probably best to stay away from Extinguished... they are most likely to become powerful and disfigured zombies or even ruler class. Being full of light(human) or extinguished are the only two races.
Classes: Essentially it's what type of character you choose to make. They've each got their advantages. Obviously, you can grow to get better in other areas, but this is your home base and area of expertise that you will always shine in. Those who wish to branch out tend to rank up slower but can become dual and even trio classed, while those who focus on their main class can rank up a lot faster.
The 3 Main Classes: Everything branches off of one of these three
Adventurer- A survivalist by nature. You can easily survive outside of your home colony. People who are strong and can navigate this crazy world we live in with ease, the wilds especially. Typically the most balanced class one can pick, they can pick up skills and lead one into becoming dual or trio classed.
Technician- Someone who is very handy in more ways than one. Whether classically trained at a school, an apprentice, or self-taught, technicians are a mix between a medic and a mechanic. Give them a tool, and they'll be hard at work if you get the right materials. In MOST cases, they are or descend from city folk. There are a few outliers of course.
Unique- Remember when the government confirmed alien life? Not confirming alien existence or anything, but there are a few humans who are exceptionally good with their special abilities. They seem to be existing on two planes rather than one. They typically don't live too long though. Most only get to about 45-65. There are outliers of course.
Specialty Classes
Politician- Much like a tamer this specialty class has a certain charm about them. They've got the gift of gab, and more persuasive ability than most people. With a commanding presence, they can rally the troops or put a line in the sand.
Tamer- A specific type of adventurer. They are especially good with animals. It's like they've got this sixth sense when it comes to nature. They are typically no so great at special ability usage
Seer- Another type of Unique, they have an exceptionally strong awareness of both planes. Their third eye is quite powerful, and their special powers typically revolve around the senses. Extremely susceptible to burn out due to being most connected with the second plane.
Hunter- A very specific kind of adventurer. They track down and scavenge for whatever they are seeking or is requested of them. They usually fall into specifics like animal hunter, treasure hunter, monster hunter or bounty hunter. Like Uniques they tend to live shorter lives due to intentionally seeking out combat. Most hunters don't make it for 40 and if they do it's because they've retired.
Pilot- Another very specific kind of adventurer. They can hop onto whatever and whip it around like a toy after just a few tries. Whether riding an animal or piloting a vehicle, they accel in traversing places in short periods of time.
Ruler- A class exclusive to the Extinguished. They are special humans who no longer have light but retain their power and skills through the darkness. They are the closest thing to a vampire one may see. There is no such thing as a good ruler, they all seek to absorb power from healthy humans.
Tiers: Just an identifier for the mod to understand how versed you are in your class. This ranking system is pretty easy. If you want to have a combination of classes, you'll start lower.

General
Name:
Alias/Nickname: Do you go by something else?
Age:
Race: Are you a Human or an Extinguished?
Gender:
Place of Origin: You a city slicker, or are you from one of the colonies?
Class and Tier:
Occupation: It's nice if you've got one. List a trade of yours in this fucked up new world.
Faction: You under some sort of flag, gang or family? Are you solo?
Visual Appearance
Image: Real photos, and even art work is accepted. If not, just describe them below.
Physical Description: What do you look like.
Clothing: ... are you one of those nudists? What do you put on to survive in this world?
Techs: Got any technological prosthetics? They're pretty damn expensive, but a great asset in time like these. The only major issue is if something goes wrong... may god bless you. Technicians are even harder to find than the techs themselves. Do you have a smart eye that can scan things? Maybe a prosthetic arm? Can be as advanced or low tech as you'd like. A character can start with one and upgrade over time or add techs later on.
About
Skills: What are you good at? These typically relate to your class, but can be toward general interests as well.
Personality: What are you like? Try to be detailed here.
History: What happened to you? How'd you get here? In some cases, this may directly relate to your tier, so keep that in mind.
Inventory
Watcha got? Everyone's got something. Do you lug around a suitcase...-maybe just a backpack? Try not to kill yourself by carrying too much. (Yes carrying too much can weigh you down.)
Vehicle
Are you hoofing it? Maybe you've got a pet to ride or pull you. How advanced is your vehicle: some stolen tech, or maybe a vintage piece from the 2000s? As nice as it is to have a vehicle or pet, these things need resources.
Power
Third Eye: It comes with existing. It helps you see and understand the world around you from another point of view. The question is how strong is yours? Are you a unique and naturally carry a large light, or are you an average joe? This becomes blank if you are a Ruler Class Extinguished.
Special Power:
Do you even have one? It's perfectly fine if you don't. You may excel in other things. Special Powers tug on your light and can be exhausting if overused. The more grand the power, the harder it will be to use often. Can you float? Can you see really far? Maybe you can throw a lightning bolt? Maybe you're just really fucking strong when you tap into your light?
