Peter's grin from underneath his mask was clearly visible as Max made his entrance proper. He had been a man the webhead looked up to for a while now. It unleashed a swath of memories that Peter would indulge under normal circumstances. Luckily, his priorities were in order and he maintained his focus squarely on Max and Narsa.
He knew of the Hive as well as Peter did, shrouded in mystery as they still managed to be. Still, the pair's combined knowledge would hopefully yield beneficial results. Pete was glad to see Max take his plea seriously, leading them to his office, all the while keeping a close eye on Narsa. Out of concern if anything else.
However, as he acquainted himself with Max's office for the hundredth time, Peter's eyes fixated on the bobblehead. That was a new addition. And one which prompted an expected Spider-Man response from the resident web-slinger.
"Really, Max? The Thing? You hurt me! I gave you a discount code for my goodies and everything!"
Indeed, Peter's response was drenched in the expected Spider-Man theatrics and overreactions, all finished with a tone of friendly banter. Unfortunately, Max wasn't the only one Peter spoke to like that. After all, a person as popular as Spider-Man had to have multiple banter buddies. That... admittedly did include more people than he could count at this time.
Getting back to the task at hand, both Peter and Max intently listened to Narsa retelling her experience. A harrowing ordeal to say the least, with the expected obstacles emerging quickly as she told the tale.
"Swarm."
Peter tried to fill in the blanks as best he could. He also took note of the oddities as she spoke. Ideas and solutions started to form in his mind. He was about to stop the process when her watery eyes looked at him. But the girl kept going. She was a strong one. Stronger than most.
When she mentioned the butterflies and moths, he wasn't sure whether to believe her mentioning of the outside or if they were intentionally spread. Red flags all around, yet again, Hive remained a mystery even with all the information they had. Before Peter could respond, however, he felt the need to approach Narsa, placing his hands on her arms in an attempt to soothe the girl. He also took note of her strange interludes.
"Hey. Look at me. You're safe here, I swear. We'll figure this out, Spidey's honor."
Peter summoned a warm smile, slightly visible from underneath his mask, but made more evident by his eyes moving, forming a comforting expression. He rubbed her arms slightly, the friction hopefully easing some of her tension. Peter then turned to Max, looking to form a diagnosis.
"It's brainwashing, has to be. Strong PTSD too. Swarm must be using some real potent stuff to have Glass Wing still exhibit signs. Maybe it's something we can extract?"
Spider-Man was throwing ideas at Max, unsure what would stick. He was a scientist, but he was better at certain other things. Brainwashing wasn't exactly one of them. Max, however, he was an expert in almost anything one could think of. With his smarts and Peter's determination, they would undoubtedly free this young girl from her affliction. Peter had to believe that.
