OOC: Previous chapter coloholics.boards.net/thread/918/harrowing-thoughts?page=1&scrollTo=6027_________________________________________ The sky seemed tearful. A depressing drizzle fell, only a reminder of someone gone. Today was supposed to be cloudy... -only 3 o'clock but the sky was dark as night. Perhaps it were Yoo looking down at his city from the heavens. Shizuoka was crying, mourning... - the funeral itself was a private affair and the now disbanded dusk agency did it's best to keep things under wraps. Awaiting the two guests of honor was Rouge, whose eyes mirrored Yoo's. She likely hadn't slept since that final phone call. Yoo asked for a funeral for the foes he'd slain, not for himself... She'd ran herself ragged going over the wharf, scanning for clues. She was put together, but obviously drained. "Welcome," Her voice was hoarse. The tinted car doors would swing open and allow Benkei and Serena to exit. There was an assortment of people here. These were obviously Yakuza, save for a few familiar faces of the former dusk agency. Officers Tendo and Tatsuki were in uniform and armed. They were going to make sure nothing happened or interrupted the ceremony. Both fought back tears when they caught eye contact with the two students. There were family photos. His mother Kanami... dead, body never found His brother Yoo-jun... dead, body never found and finally, the head of the Ryuujin clan, Yoodoumaru dead, body never found... This was more than just Yoo's funeral but the funeral of the Ryuujin clan. Benkei clutched his chest, and tried to maintain his breath. He knew, but it felt so much more real seeing the family photos. Before he could get anything out, Rouge pulled the two kids into a tight hug. "I'm so sorry! I'm so so so so sorry..." Rouge was shaking as she held them. "Take as long as you need when you step up to pay your respects."There was laughter in the background. In a place like this, at a time like this... -laughter? It was Yakuza tradition to show up for weddings and funerals. Many of these people only came because they had to. They didn't actually care. Many of these poisonous people were likely waiting for this very moment. Among the crowd, Serena and Benkei could likely spot the remaining agency members. The agency medic Kaiba, as well as Rouge's nieces Kage and Uma, kneeled in front of a tall woman who masked most of her face with a fan. Her eyes were like blue jewels, and beside her were two prominent-looking men, one pale man with dark-haired and silver eyes, and a bald gentleman with brown skin and beautiful flame tattoos. Compared to the other Yakuza in attendance, they held more presence. It felt like they exuded wealth and authority from a mere glance. "Pleasure..." The woman spoke. "I won't hold you up much longer. Some preparations need to be made." She snapped her fan shut, and Kaiba, Kage, and Uma all returned to their feet with defeated expressions. Kaiba would go toward the entrance and provide both Benkei and Serena with a long bow, before waiting for a car to pick him up. He was crying... there was a wonder as to what was talked about before they arrived. Kage and Uma remained at the woman's side. They had pained looks on their faces. The agency.... Tendo and Tatsuki could return to the police force, but Kaiba, Kage and Uma... -they weren't considered yakuza elites like Rouge. She was Yoo's right hand. Anyone beneath her would get swallowed back up by the weight of japan's underground and right back into the fold of the yakuza. All Kage and Uma knew was combat despite having no quirk, and Kaiba being a medical professional was an invaluable resource. Their freedom was sealed when the Ryuujin family members drew their last breath. In a way, by getting these three hero licenses, Yoo saved them and now they were back to servitude. There was so much Serena and Benkei didn't know and so much that would become apparent. As if they were Ryuujin members themselves, Rouge would give a steep bow of respect to the two students. "I'm so happy to have gotten to see you both one last time." What did she mean by that? With such a stark loyalty for the Ryuujin her whole life, she was likely next to die and she knew that all too well. Tendo and Tatsuki would likely be next, as they are officers who can't be bought out. They were Yoo's "detective duo". Men who would go to war for Yoo at any given notice, and help him solve any case, no matter how mentally taxing.

Serena was quiet, even more so than usual, but beneath the surface a storm of emotions raged inside her. But... she had a lot of things to do today. She couldn't afford to really bask in her emotions or process them right now. There were so many things she had to handle. Her eyes shared those same dark shadows, not quite as bad as Yoo's just yet, but rapidly on their way. She'd been very busy the past few days, making calls and having conversations to set things up, not to mention keeping a close eye on Benkei to make sure he wasn't a danger to himself, and that nobody was a danger to him. Her arms and legs were still wrapped in bandages from the first night... she had mostly healed, but the marks hadn't quite faded yet, and she didn't want anyone seeing the remains of those injuries, especially the current crowd.
There was plenty to react to and process as they got out of the car, seeing Rogue in such a defeated state hurt. Serena had bonds with every member of the agency, and she knew the dynamics at play now. Of course she did, she grew up in and around crime and the underworld... frankly she was glad Rogue was still with them... she couldn't be around to protect everyone, and Benkei had been her focus. She didn't know all the big names of Shizuoka's crime families, but she knew how the dynamics worked from Hosu... she'd been lucky to never be tied to any one group so tightly that she'd go down with the ship, but she'd seen people who had. Didn't matter if you were part of the family or not, if you were too closely tied to them, you went down too.
And so she had her work cut out for her. She didn't need to resolve everything today, but she needed to get a lot more done than simply paying her respects. Her emotions would wait as they always had. She would have time for that on her own, today was crucial for other reasons. When Rogue hugged her and Benkei she didn't resist, instead using her pickpocketing skills to slip a card with contact information into her pocket. It had several people on it, Momma bear being first among them. She needed to get Tendo and Tatsuki those cards too... but they would be harder. She couldn't be direct, not with the attendees of this funeral watching.
Kage, Uma, and Kaiba were leaving with an important seeming lady shortly after Serena arrived. Damn, not enough time to get them contact cards, but if they were leaving with a Yakuza lady that probably meant they weren't on the execution block, so instead... plan B.
When Kaiba bowed to Serena, she quietly pointed two fingers downward, then gestured. Sign language, two years. She hoped they would catch her meaning. Serena was a 2nd year student, a year and a half from now, she would be a pro hero. Getting her agency up and running would take some time, but in two years... they could come to her. If they wanted out of this life again, they had to survive two years. She couldn't do more for them though... they weren't in immediate danger, and the protection had to focus on the ones who were, Benkei, Rogue, Tendo, Tatsuki... those were the four she had to keep alive herself or with help.
"I'm so happy to have gotten to see you both one last time."
"It doesn't have to be the last time. You'll always have a friend in me. The future could hold any number of things for us both." Serena replied, her eyes darting meaningfully to Rogue's pocket while her head remained still, so only Rogue could see her gesture. She hoped the meaning was clear since she couldn't say much. The Yakuza were powerful, but if Rogue called that number, brough Tendo and Tatsuki to the Bear Den in a different city... well living in protective custody for a few years would suck, but villains knew better than to attack the Bear Den directly.
"Please take the hints... all of you... I failed Nocturne... but I can still save the rest of you... if you all just take the hints. I can protect Benkei... Momma and Black Bear can protect you... and in two years... just two years... please." Serena thought to herself, praying hard. She didn't put much stock in god or fate... but if any were listening... she prayed they'd lend her a hand for once. She'd failed Nocturne, she'd left him and let him die. His blood was on her hands in some small part, but what he built remained. She would save it, his agency, his family, his legacy. That was her atonement for what she did to him... but she couldn't do it unless they helped. So she prayed... and kept very close to Benkei... the only person here she had any true capacity to defend herself.

Kaiba's eyes seemed lifeless as they met Serena's. He'd gaze at her for a moment, understanding the concern, but... It was deeper than that. These family ties and occupational ties... they bled into their very being. It wouldn't be as easy as she was thinking. Regardless, he softly put up two fingers and nodded his headed to both she and Benkei. "I wish you all success in your endeavors." Before walking deeper into the shadow cloaked city of Shizuoka. Rouge noticed the card almost immediately but did not move to reveal she received something. She knew better than to do so with so many eyes. "Likewise, you both will have a friend in me as long as I breathe air." The jumping spider hero would softly place her hand on the pocket Serena slipped the card in and bowed softly. With a sharp turn, she navigated toward some of the other funeralgoers. As the dusk heroes' right hand, it was important to speak to everyone. Benkei sighed as he scanned the crowd. Save for Yoo's people, it was just Yakuza snobs, and elitists. He couldn't call this a real funeral... Where were all his loved ones? Had his cousin truly been so alone all this time? The sentiment wrote across the boys head in cursive, misery. Was that the cost of true strength as a hero? Detachment? For Ben, the only reason he got this far was because of others. Many of them were by way of Yoo's generosity. With a shaky hand, he pinched Serena's sleeve and urge them forward into the crowd. They were the next generation after Nocturne, Karma and Nightsky. Heroes held legacy whether they were related or not. They were going to prove it by being outstanding heroes. Before he could say "let's go" to Serena, he halted. Now that he was getting out of his own head, those voices. Those people... he'd heard them before... The boy let go of Serena's sleeve and quickly rushed to the family member's portraits. He didn't want to make any eye contact, or be noticed by that trio of elites. But as they were the only young folk here, they were sticking out like sore thumbs. Getting to his knees, he'd bow deep to pay his respect to the family that took him in and remained there for a moment. As he rose, he'd kept his face trained forward. His sadness had subsided and was replaced with a pale white fear. Tendo and Tatsuki would walk over and place a hand on his shoulder, unsure if this was just extreme greif. "Hey... it'll be okay... Promise." Tatsuki said with a sniffle. Another sniffle followed, a green hair individual slid his arm over the officer and smirked. "Tatsuki-nii, let him grieve in peace. "Another familiar voice. Benkei's face cracked as he stared at the floor. Tears were leaking from his eyes uncontrollably. These people. They were all there... they were the ones who erased the Yozara from Chiba City. This funeral was a nest of killers... "Boogie, come here!" Those gemstone-blue eyes locked in on the boy and the girl. Opening her fan, the women would stop her departure and walk back over toward the other two elites, Kage and Uma leaving to fulfill their assignment. Boogie quickly snorted and spit into the distance, before arriving to the woman's side. "Aoihime-sama?" The cockiness seemed to subside from Tatsuki's brother. "Sorry about him... Just... take it easy okay?" Tatsuki passed Benkei a tissue. Tendo would take a knee beside Benkei and beckoned for Serena to get closer. None of them were safe here... He'd rather keep it quick. "Over here." In a hushed tone. There seemed to be a clammor about Serena and Benkei. Not just by the many goers, but the elites as well. ___________________________Out of ear shot. "Boogie...who are they?" The heiress inquired. "Oh, former dusk agency kids. They're UA students." Boogie replied swiftly. He'd done some research but wasn't on target. Approaching was the other two elites. "Close Boogie, but take a closer look at the boy's features. Besides myself, he'd be the only surviving close cousin of the Ryuujin. He's from the Yozara clan." "And the question, Katagiri, is why is he alive?" She retorted. Boogie was a bit overwhelmed by them. He was used to being in charge of missions, but these three were the actual big bosses. "It could only mean that we missed one. A 99% success is still a success, Aoihime." The brown gentleman spoke. "Nanoi's right, we ought to claim it as such. Perhaps we add him to the list. Rouge and those cops come first of course." Katagiri chuckled. "Men..." She rolled her eyes. "Boogie, get me more intel on both the boy AND the girl when you have time.""Will do, boss lady." He'd quickly retreat and actually join up with Kage and Uma as they waited for car service. ____________________OOC: REVEALS Legal Name: Satoshi Bokuto (NPC) Alias: Boogie Quirk Name: FLU - The user has superhuman sinuses, and as a result superhuman snot. Serena looked out the corner of her eye, seeing some of the atendees whispering among themselves. She couldn't hear anything being said, they weren't dumb enough to be in earshot. Still she didn't have to hear them to suspect. She'd come to this funeral in her hero outfit for a reason. Officially it was because she was a member of Dusk Agency paying her respects, but in reality it was because she knew that Benkei had a target on his back. The armor would help if she had to intercept any bullets or blades, and while she didn't have her bow, she wasn't unarmed... she fully expected someone to react to Benkei and plan to make a hit on him. His reaction to hearing their voices right before they went to have their little private chat only reaffirmed her suspicions. They weren't making a move yet though, probably waiting for a better moment, and to gather intel on the variables they hadn't planned for, like herself.
Serena nodded to Tendo as she took a knee by the portraits as well, the advantage of the criminals being out of earshot was that so was she. If they wanted to give her a chance to speak freely so they could mark themselves as the clear suspects to be wary of... well she wasn't going to let their "gracious" gesture go to waste
"Talk to Rogue when you get a chance, I have plans to get you three through this" she said, once confirming nobody else was in earshot "They require getting through this day though, and judging by your and Benkei's faces, that's going to be a little harder than I hoped. Give me the rundown, who are we expecting and when are they likely to move? Quirks too if you know them, I'd rather not be blindsided by another bad matchup... that's been happening a lot lately"

Tendo looked perplexed at Serena. "Maybe you're forgetting who the adults are." There may not have been a Dusk Agency anymore, but they wouldn't break rank just because Yoo was no longer with them. "Kid are you with us? Benkei..." A pat to Benkei's shoulder. The teen softly nodded, those his shaking balled fist made it clear he was preoccupied with other feelings.
"Those guys... the one who seem like their in charge, they killed my entire family." He'd inhale deep, and release a shuddering breath. How long had it been since he'd seen his brothers smiles? His parents... Benkei was trying his best to be present, but it was so damn hard. Tatsuki would comfort him, pushing Tendo to push toward Serena's questioning. They needed to work together.
"We'll be fine." Tendo was confident of that, comforting Benkei and reassuring Serena. He and Tatsuki had been working on the force for years, and with Yoo for even longer. It would take a little more than some Yakuza threat to scare them. "When we arrived and found Benkei, there was a ton of damage done to the property. Seeing as he clearly remembers their voices, I can try to break it down as best I can." He'd start by nodding his head subtly toward Tatsuki's brother, whom they called by the nickname- "Boogie, imagine Tatsuki's slime quirk on steroids. He can do what Tatsuki can do with his bodily fluids and sinuses and then some. Gigabites team jailed him, but who knows how he got out..."
To the American littered with flame tattoos. "I can only assume he caused all the ash and fire damage to the home. I don't really know of him... honestly never seen him before."
To the woman, who seemed to be keeping a sharp eye on them and hiding her words behind that fan of hers. "That's Ai Irihi, an heiress. They call her a hime and treat her like one too She's all the way from Sendai... I'm not sure how she fits into all this, but if she's with him, she's definitely bad news."
Finally to the tall gentleman with jet black hair. "That's Katagiri Tanuki, a cousin of Benkei here, and Yoo... he's always been bad news, even when we were kids. People don't know his quirk, but autopsy reports indicate a venom or poison of some sort. When people cross his hit list... they die. Yoo was on that hit list... I've got suspicion to believe Yoo's death was staged by him, but I've got no proof against him. It's like Yoo was on a puppets string... that night, he was searching for his mother like a mad man. We all were... I wish there were more clues."
Benkei stopped his panic, and reached a calm. Perhaps Tendo's explanation jogged a core sense of rage in Benkei's grief. "They'll pay." His shaking fist finally held tight, turning white with fury. A twinkling dust dance around his knuckles as he stood back up. Tatsuki would yank Benkei over to take a walk and blow off some steam. Tatsuki- "Let's go for a walk, bud."
To Serena, Tendo- "You kids got it rough, but I'm hoping you both are okay." Passing the best smile he could give. It was interesting how Tendo and Tatsuki's demeanors differed from Rouge who seemingly knew her time was ticking. Perhaps it was their affiliation with the police, or perhaps they were overly invested in solving this mystery. Mystery led Yoo to death. Who was to say, it wouldn't do the same for them?

"Maybe you're forgetting who the adults are."
Serena's look back was neutral, but there was pain in her eyes. She didn't open up about her past often, even to the members of the Dusk agency, but they'd seen the scars. She didn't get offended at Tendo pulling the age card, her usual fire and banter was missing, instead there was just a look of sadness... and steely determination.
"Any other time, that might mean something. But here, in the world of the yakuza and people like them. It doesn't matter if you're an adult or a child... and besides" Serena said, before looking down "I haven't been a child in any way that matters in a long time. I didn't get that luxury. Neither did Benkei. So put away the adult card. Right now you've got targets on your backs, and I don't intend to lose any more family today."
It was the first time she'd said it aloud, that she could recall anyway. The members of the Dusk Agency were family to her, Noc was... had been... like a father to her in many ways. Tendo, Tatsuki, Rogue, they were like her aunts and uncles. Benkei was like a cousin, or brother... She hadn't been there for Nocturne because of her mental hangups, but right now nothing mattered more than keeping the rest of her family safe.
She listened intently as the intel was rattled off. Snot manipulation, not her best match depending on how he liked to use it, but she had been around Tatsuki enough to know how to counter it.
And then a poison quirk, that made her grin ever so slightly, a good match. She'd been poisoned routinely as a child as one of the many methods of torture, so her poison tolerance was far superior to most, plus her quirk could make it difficult to infect her depending on the delivery method. Still quirk based poisons tended to be more potent than most so she couldn't expect actual immunity. Definitely still something to be wary of... and then there was that princess... no info on her quirk but if she was a "hime" she would hopefully be delegating the task to others and not be fighting.
But the best bit of news came from the fact there was a fire user in the group potentially. If she were unarmored it would be a sort of a mixed bag, as fire could still technically burn her skin through chemical exposure, but the heat would be absorbed, but with her body covered like it was now, a fire user was just a straight buff to her own abilities. Still since they didn't know anything about him, it was best to still be cautious.
The intel that Nocturne had seemed to be manipulated into his death though was concerning though. Nocturne was a detective hero, incredibly smart, and familiar with the yakuza world. She rather doubted some hitman could outplay him so thoroughly they didn't have even a lead on him. Was it the Damascus Order then? Nah they had been more about just directly causing havoc so far, she had no doubt they had more nefarious behind the scenes plans but even so... what about that hitman group she'd heard about from Tanzo recently? They'd staged a hit on Nocturne, or they'd been about too before the big metal teddy bear and his friends had crashed it... she didn't have the details there but... those hitmen had been hired by someone hadn't they? Damn, she should've asked more about it, but he'd been reluctant to divulge too much at the time... maybe later then.
Unfortunately, while her mind raced trying to crack the mystery, this news had sent Benkei into a cold rage. Tatsuki was yanking him away to go for a walk, which was a bloody terrible idea right now... they needed to stick together, not split up and make it easier to pick them off damnit. Serena would stand back up as well, ready to act. "Stay close please, within eyesight." she'd say, then put a hand on Benkei's shoulder "and they will pay, but only if we do this smart. Don't rush... but I promise..." she paused, letting her emotions out a bit, bloodlust dripping from her voice like miasma as she vowed "we're going to make them regret messing with our family"
As quickly as she let it out, she reined the bloodlust back in. Returning to her cold and logical state, but that moment showed it for what it was, a carefully maintained shell, a facade to hide how furious she was. She had to keep calm, if she let her emotions run wild here she'd do things they'd all regret later, she was restraining herself with everything she had not to go on a rampage here and now. She wanted to run over to them and start throwing punches here and now, but she was biding her time, appearing cold and detached, but keeping the coals of her fury ready to ignite on a moment's notice.
Glancing to Tendo as he spoke, she smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes "of course I'm not fine, but I'm used to it. And today isn't about me or what I want." she said simply "I'll get back to being fine later, once everyone is safe. I'm a hero, after all. So don't worry about me for now. There will be time for that later, just worry about us all getting through this safely, so you can worry about me later for as long as you want."

"I haven't been a child in any way that matters in a long time. I didn't get that luxury. Neither did Benkei.""Tch. All the more reason, you guys should enjoy your youth, and let us handle things. We've got your back." He replied. "We've had targets on our backs since kids. Rouge served the Ryuujin with her mom, and Yoo was our child hood friend. Attempts on our life is nothing knew... Unless you think we're weak." He smiled hoping to jostle Serena out of her funk. The banter among the agency was one of the best parts, but it was hard to do without Yoo. He was their glue in a way. Many of them thought and went about things differently from one another, but with him, they were an almost perfect well-oiled machine. In Tendo's eyes, he felt as though he needed to pick up the slack and become a leader of sorts, whereas Rouge sort of accepted her fate. She knew she'd die fighting over Yoo's honor. This had been her entire life's mission. Without Yoo, she felt her purpose was missing even with Serena bringing a sense of hope. Tatsuki was seemingly stuck picking up the pieces of everyone breaking down... The others would sadly get sucked into the Yakuza's fold. Speaking of Tatsuki, he gave an exhausted nod as he tried to keep a lid on Benkei. "Their gonna see what a Yozara can really do when we're not blindsided..." Benkei said, as he stormed off from Serena, Tatsuki acting like a weight to keep him from going too far. Tendo patted his chest in response to Serena with a sincere smile. "If we're family, I'll worry about you both as much as I wa... sfff." He sniffed the air, his blood-hound quirk catching onto a scent. Someone extremely familiar. "I know this smell." He whipped his head trying to find an angle to follow. The scent was traveling remarkably fast. "SEI-KEN!" A star shaped crater found itself under Benkei's fist. It only seemed abrupt because the focus wasn't on them, but Tatsuki lied on the floor with a pool of blood forming, and Benkei desperately trying to find who did it. How could it have happened so fast? The crowd seemed still, Benkei would send projectiles across the funeral as a warning. "Come out, COWARD!" Benkei positioned himself in front of Tatsuki, taking a peek. He was hoping Tatsuki was still breathing. Checking his pulse seemed risky with how fast the assailant was. Tendo gripped his rifle, and quickly sprinted to his partner's side. "Shit shit shit!" Skidding to a stop, he'd quickly dressed the wound, while Benkei kept guard. It was a slice across the jugular. Survival was slim to none. With bloody hands, a teary-eyed Tendo aimed his rifle at the crowd with his eyes closed. The gun would follow where his nose pointed, and finally firing a tranquilizer round. It seemed to graze someone's mask, a short individual; blonde with sharp teeth. The mask would shatter, revealing the killer. "I never could trick that nose." An oddly familiar face, one both Serena and Benkei had seen a few times looking after Yoo's mother. As Rouge was the hero's right hand, and the detective duo his left, this man was considered Yoo's shadow. Out of all the people who tended to the family, the least was known about him. The only notable thing to remember was that Tendo always complaining about his scent of vanilla to mask the weapons and poisons he carried. In his hand was a bloody kunai. "A nose like that is bad for business... " Without much thought the ninja threw the weapon, to which Tendo deflected with the butt of his rifle. Rouge would land from a high jump, scoop Tatsuki up, and fly back into the air with an equally impressive jump. She'd get him to a hospital in a jiffy. If there was still time to save Tatsuki, she was willing to gamble on it. Transversely, Jogo eyed his next target. The elites watched with an impressed expression. It was a bold move for a ninja, killing someone in the daytime. "Traitor..." Benkei sneered. He didn't know much about Inukai, but he remembered the man being an attendant for Kaname when Yoo was away, and the man sometimes appearing out of Yoo's shadow to deliver intel. "Hai."
"Why would you turn your back on us now of all times?" Tendo aimed his rifle, steady despite his flaring emotions.
"...Mmm, I have a job to do."
"Murderer!" Benkei roared, knuckled sparkling with newly created stars.
"Hai." He showed his teeth, he would actually turn his head and eye Serena. She was someone to be weary of as well. With Tatsuki downed, he only needed to take care of Tendo and Rouge. With Rouge gone, it only left Tendo. The crowd would slowly begin to thin. This wasn't a place or time for a battle for most people's opinion. The 3 head honchos would stay and watch of course. It basically was a free show for them, among other reasons.

Serena wasn't given time to react, everything happened so fast, one second Tendo was being their usual self, next he was on high alert, his enhanced nose picking up on something. Her head whipped around to Benkei and Tatsuki, but it was too late to avert the suprise attack for either of them. A throat slit, almost certainly fatal without immediate medical attention. She cursed as she moved to Tatsuki at high speed. Tendo would try to bandage the wound, but she'd push him aside and place her hand over the wound, pressing the two flaps of skin together. The bleeding would stop while her hand was there, as she halted it's movement, effectively forming a seal by simply not allowing the blood to move. Then she used stored kinetic energy to pump heat into the wound, cauterizing it. It was an ugly fix, that would leave a serious scar, but with a blood transfusion it made the wound survivable.
Rogue would be there moments later to take Tatsuki away, that was good, it got them both out of harms way. That meant she only needed to worry about protecting two people... unfortunately that was going to be difficult as is, this newcomer had been fast, and there was still the bosses looking on who could jump in at any point.
A chill spread through the venue as heat began flowing into Serena's body as she stood and faced the assailant "You're dumber than you look, you're an assassin aren't you? You should know to take out the biggest threat first when you have the element of surprise. To think Nocturne had such an incompetent subordinate. No wonder you turned traitor." she said mockingly as she let the facade of calm drop. She wasn't blinded by rage like Benkei though, her fury was something much more familiar to the yakuza here. Bloodlust radiated from her like an aura washing over the venue as she looked at Jogo in the same way one might look at a particularly annoying insect, full of disdain, disgust, and an unconcealed desire to squash him into the pavement.
Serena would draw out a short wooden blade next, courtesy of Nocturne back when he was alive. She didn't usually carry it into the field for the simple reason that inside was hidden a real blade. She didn't intend to unsheathe that yet though... Part of her was still rational enough to know that using lethal force here would only cause her issues later, there were too many witnesses still hanging around, once everyone had left, she could consider whether or not it was worth using the real thing. Even so, she took a stance with the blade eerily reminiscent of Nocturne's own sword style. She wasn't messing around though, even this allegedly nonlethal weapon was dangerous when you factored her quirk in, with the amount of force she could leverage concentrated onto a thin edge with the leverage of a club... well she couldn't be held accountable if he suffered massive internal bleeding, brain damage, or shattered bones
"Tendo, guard Benkei, you two are the targets, and I don't trust our audience to remain passive spectators." Serena said "I can handle this clown."

Jogo picked hit teeth with a nail as Serena spoke. "Mmm, good job sealing the wound. At least no poison would leak out. " With his free hand, he gave her a thumbs up. "The biggest threat, Nocturne, is dead already. " Tendo... then Rouge. Serena and Benkei were non-factors to him. They weren't a part of the job. He walked a few steps to the left. With the crowd thinning, there was more room to work with. This was a real battlefield now, not that he really was concerned with a battle. He only needed a moment.
"Underestimating your enemy. I'm sure your dear dead hero has taught you better than that." Jogo placed his hand on his hip, while the other beckoned for Serena to come forward. At the same time, it seemed like his attention was solely on Tendo. "Well one of the detective duo is already dead, so I guess they weren't all that great of students to begin with."
Tendo was utterly shocked. He'd always had a strong dislike, but never were there any signs of something like this... "It's him... I'm sure he's got the keys to what really happened." Benkei looked to Tendo with confusion. Tendo was a detective through and through. To make someone disappear would be easy for someone like him. All this time Yoo was looking for the man he tasked with finding his mother... -Rather the man who'd already killed his mother. Though this was why Tendo and Tatsuki needed to be killed. They'd be the quickest to deduce this...
Jogo's eyes would spend a moment to remove themself from Tendo and onto Serena. The stance. It made his gnarled glare turn into a smile. "He held that stance, right before someone put their blade to him, you know. I saw the whole thing."

Serena internally groaned, of course the blade was poisoned too. Still, by halting the blood flow the way she did and then searing the wound closed, most of the poison would've been prevented from getting into the bloodstream, especially with the blood having been flowing outwards. And the heat would burn off a lot of poisons. Either way it wasn't like there was a better option, the hospital could handle poison, they couldn't handle someone having already bled out. She'd just have to trust that the doctors could take it from there.
Jogo's taunt got a reaction out of her though, but perhaps not the one he was expecting. Her expression shifted, instead of viewing him dismissively as just another common criminal to be squashed underfoot, now she was smiling... and her grin was filled with malice. "Oh? So that means you know what happened, and who killed him." she said with a venomous sweetness "so that means you've gotten a nice promotion, instead of beating you unconscious and hoping the police get you treatment before you succumb to your internal bleeding, now you get to have a loooooong conversation with me personally. Lucky you, I'll be an excellent host and show you all the 'conversation' techniques I was 'taught' as a child. I'm sure we'll have such a lovely chat~"
Her tone was sweet, but her meaning was as dark as could be, she barely even made a effort to conceal it. If he lost to her here, he would be tortured for information. At least, he would be if the police officer beside her was dead and there was nobody present to stop her. It also meant she was taking him a lot more seriously now, which was probably not the intended goal of taunting her.
Serena grabbed one of the folding chairs that had been left abandoned by the now departing guests, then hurled it like an oversized shuriken at Jogo, the metal spinning rapidly as she clearly threw it with enhanced strength, if he let it hit him without using his quirk it would definitely break something, and it was followed up by two more chair shuriken. She was testing him, trying to puzzle out his quirk, but each attack was made with deadly intent.

Jogo tilted his head with a coy expression holding his finger over his lips. He was a shinobi, a sealed trap. "Ooooh?" The man seemed fine with whatever Serena was talking about, but then again he seemed fine with what everyone was saying. In response to the incoming chair, he too would throw something high into the air. He'd sidestep the first, it knicked a few hairs off his head but that was okay. There was a considerable crash noise when the chair broke apart as it landed behind him.
He didn't quite expect her to be a brute, but it was okay if she was. He watched enough from a far to get the gist. With the next two incoming chairs, he'd duck the second a tiny bomb slipping from his sleeve and into his fingertips. The third would meet his gentle toss of the bomb and detonate. "A chair is a chair, no matter how hard you throw it..." He shrugged.
As for the projectile he launched earlier. It was similar to the small black bomb but with a different function. Benkei and Tendo would run, but rather than an explosion, a light purple-colored mist erupted in a wide expulsion when the ball click against the ground. The two seemed to clear themselves of breathing too much in. Benkei seemed fine, but Tendo was disturbed. "That fucking stench."
A devious smile curled. Jogo's hands twitched, kunai slipping from his sleeve and into each hand. "Shouldn't be so hard. " Launching both at Tendo, though Benkei quickly blocked them with a starry shield. The young hero would give Serena a nod. She wouldn't have to stretch herself thin. He had her back.

So she wasn't going to get information that easily huh? She kinda wished she had brought her bow with her after all, she kept a few shock arrowheads on her for use as an impromptu taser on herself if she needed an electric charge, but she wouldn't have been able to sneak a whole bow into a funeral like this. It would've been good to have a better ranged option to feel out her opponents with.
Still, he had revealed a little bit. The fact he was carrying all these gadgets and weapons probably meant his quirk wasn't directly offensive in nature, it probably had something to do with movement, considering how fast he'd taken down Tatsuki. So it was like that first year girl she'd gotten roped into training perhaps? Either way she wasn't going to find out this way, so she grabbed a chair and leapt forward to swing it at him, it had a longer range than the short wooden blade she carried, and she used it's weight and the momentum of the swing to carry her forward into a swing with the blade. She was moving at speeds definitely superior to a baseline human, but she was conserving her full power and speed for now, she needed to understand how he worked before she could really cut loose and pummel him. Last thing she needed was to blow energy against another person who her fist would just pass through harmlessly or something.

The smog passed by rather quickly. There was no way something that small would hold a lot of poison, but it did it's job. Jogo only needed a bit of it to really get things started. He nodded to his own idea. "Okay." As Serena came closer and closer, she'd find her target quickly seeping into the floor and disappearing completely. Tranquilizer bullets peppered the ground where he once was as Tendo was hoping to nick the villain. The elites seemed plenty entertained as they watched.
"He's good." Ai mired, her giggle would be followed by the flutter of her fan. "I like him."
"I'm glad we came to an agreement when I met him..." Katagiri chuckled in response. "Mutual hate can find itself in the most interesting places."
"Though they are making a mess of my estate. I've only just acquired it." Ike palmed his face. "I may have to step in."
Jogo would appear in front of Tendo in an instant, shattering the weapon by striking its weak spot with a kunai. Benkei quickly yawed back for a punch, but Jogo had busy hands. One hand snatched for Tendo, whilst the other let a tiny ball drop. "SEIKEN." A star knuckle sandwich would send Jogo skidding back toward Serena, but Tendo whaled in pain. "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah." In the moment of snatching for something, Jogo quickly snatched and twisted Tendo's nose broken. Blood leaked from his nose as he unknowingly began taking big inhales of the emerging poison gas expressed from the tiny smoke bomb. Benkei would take a gulp of air, and scoop Tendo up and out of the smog. "What's up with this guy?!?" Benkei finally exhaled, gently letting Tendo down. It was odd... He seemed absolutely fine, besides the broken nose. What kind of poison was this?
"Almost there." This shinobi was incredibly focused. He was on high alert for Serena but fully committed to taking down Tendo. He yanked at his shoulder before shoving it back into socket. Hmph... Serena had all intent to kill in the primary attack. Was she really training to be a hero? The boy didn't seem like a slouch either. "You're putting a lot on my plate." He called out.
"Take the Yozara boy while you're at it. We might need him." Katagiri called out from a far.
"Killed Tendo, and Rouge. Take the Yozara, hai hai... got it." Jogo seemed to not mind, despite his complaint.
Ike would actually be the one to step up from the elites. "Yes yes... Katagiri is quite the planner, but I grow tired of all this chaos on my doorstep. I'd like all guests off the premises please." How polite... The main didn't seem very threatening, but it was very obvious he was well trained. His limbs were chiseled beneath those traditional robes. The air seemed hot around him. The air distorted as his flame tattoos seemed to swirl and rage.
"Sounds like a challenge, Burn."
"It seems you'd like a hole in your stomach. Girl, I advise you to take your friends and leave." That's what they called him in the Yakuza. Burn. Jogo whirled to him, knives drawn. "OI! What about my orders?" He'd be met with an intense stare. "On your own time, not mine."
Benkei and Tendo began hobbling off into the distance while they bickered. Benkei looked back at Serena hoping she'd accept a tactical retreat. They definitely didn't have the numbers advantage. Katagiri folded his arms. He'd abide by the man's wishes. Both he and Ai would retreat as well. Ike would turn this place into a literal hellscape with his quirk if he had to.

Serena couldn't help but feel a flash of annoyance as Jogo sank into the floor. Seriously? ANOTHER villain who would be immune to her attacks because of quirk matchups? You have got to be freaking kidding? Was there any damn villain in this damn country who could be harmed by physical attacks? Any at all? Why couldn't she fight that behemoth guy Alain did? That was a great matchup and Alain got all the praise for taking down a literal and figurative big-time villain! Meanwhile she got people like Laughing Monk and this clown who countered her innately! And in all her other missions too, and in the sports festival! Just once she wanted to be able to punch a villain in the face and have them actually feel it! Damn it all!
Her lament over her almost supernaturally bad luck was brief, but made little difference, she immediately assumed Jogo was going for Tendo and Benkei, and turned to rush to them, but she wouldn't get there in time. Tendo got his nose broken and inhaled poison gas... somehow Serena knew she'd probably already failed to protect him. And Tatsuki's fate wasn't looking great either. Damn it, damn them, DAMN them. Benkei landed a punch though... so there were gaps in the intangibility then, he had to be physical to attack of course, and it seemed his ability to return to intangibility had a delay... an activation requirement perhaps?
Either way, he was sliding towards her from Benkei's attack, so before he would get time to recover she'd attack from behind with a powerfully enhanced slash from her wooden blade going for the side with his dislocated shoulder, she wanted to shatter some of his ribs, make it hard to breathe, and she poured energy into the speed and power of the strike. Enhancing her body like this was useful, since she wasn't pumping it directly into her target but instead relying on her weapon she could strike far faster and harder than usual, but waste very little of her energy.
After that strike though, the situation would change, the elites complaining that they were wrecking their new property. Anger flaring up in her at the implication. This wasn't THEIR property it was Nocturne's, they were nothing more than thieves, scum, parasites, yet they acted indignant like it was theirs by right like they'd actually earned it. Their orders too, capturing Benkei? Like hell they would, even if they managed it she would bring the fury of hell down upon them. They didn't think she was a threat, that was their mistake.
Then the area began to heat up as one of the elites demanded she leave. Finally a villain who matched up well with her, they DID exist! She turned on him, full of malice and glee, more than happy to engage with a foe she could finally have a good fight against and vent some of her anger, but she saw Benkei and Tendo hobbling off. "Tch, another time then. But since you're ever so concerned about 'your' stolen property" she said, then slammed her foot down, unleashing a full burst of kinetic energy to create a huge crater and shockwave that would absolutely ruin the area and cost quite a bit to fix, as well as create a debris cloud to cover their retreat. She couldn't afford to fight them all right now, but she could settle for spite.
Then she recharged a bit of her expended energy by absorbing the heat this yakuza was putting off and rushed to her friends, grabbing them both. "tactical retreat it is then" she muttered as she'd use the energy she was pulling back in to rocket off the ground and carry her friends away with her. By the time the dust settled, they'd be gone from the venue.

"Mmmm, safe spot?" There was a hard crunch sound as the bokken clashed against his body, but there was way too much give. Serena would notice this as she followed through. After the initial impact, the weapon would phase through the villain completely. Jogo would backpedal with a few backflips. "Kids are so annoying nowadays," he said shaking broken armor plates from his shirt. He patted his side.
Ike paused. He stared long and hard at the crater. "Jogo... before you go to complete your mission, tell the contractors they will be starting today. I'll be staying in Tokyo until they finish... Tell them not to worry about demolition." He said as he calmly walked toward the dojo. After a few moments of entering those walls the building would explode in a blue tint before reverting back to orange and red flame. From the destruction, Ike continued to walk toward the Ryuujin mansion residing behind the historical use-to-be dojo. That too would detonate but in multiple bursts.
"...h-hai." Jogo watched before slowly sinking into the ground. He needed to keep an eye on these kids before they got too far.

The group would find themselves in an alleyway a long way from the estate. Benkei destroyed brick as he pummeled the nearest wall with punches. "I'm so fucking useless." He couldn't help but beat himself up. All that chaos. Tatsuki getting hurt, Tendo getting hurt, and all he could land was a single punch!?! Tendo seemed to be walking steadily until he stumbles down, a purple undertone pushing itself to the forefront of his cheeks.
"You both saved my life. No complaints her-ack kaughaahghahgh." He hacked up some mucus.
Benkei turned to Serena. "We need a plan. We need to get him to a hospital." He paced back and forth. Serena would get multiple texts from Rouge asking where they were.
