General Personality:
Okibe is competitive spirit embodied into flesh and spiritual energy. Okibe lives to break limits at any pass and encourages that in those he works with. He carries himself with an air of confidence, though he has no ego about him. Were anyone, even a weaker opponent, to challenge him, he would grant them the respect they deserve as a combatant. Even enemies out for his blood like Hollow or Quincies.
Okibe can sometimes be loud, in particular whenever he is training or in the heat of combat. However, most days he keeps an even tone and shows his genuine respect for any and all members of the Soul Society. That respect is not afforded to those who choose not to live life to the fullest. Should he cross anyone who chooses to limit their potential, he spares them no attention. Okibe feels that humility is what keeps one alive in combat but should not cast doubt on what one can accomplish.
Ultimately, the Fist of the 3rd Squad is a guarding force, seeking to always improve and build up those around them to get better.
History:
Japanese history notes a figure during the era of Lord Oda Nobunaga, a samurai of ebony skin whom wielded the bladed with skill and precision and had garnered Oda's respect. In life, Yasuke's stories are more properly documented but in death, his story continued. Yasuke would bear a child within the land who had another and then another and eventually we land at Okibe, the last descendent of Yasuke's spirit.
With a legacy that rich and steeped in his blood, one would assume Okibe lived a life of luxury. Unfortunately, Yasuke's story was kept hidden, a fact of Japanese history only a handful would ever consider exploring. With this lack of passing down his story, so to was his influence within the spirit world diminished and the once noble family of Yasuke feel into disrepair. The children all knew their legacy but it mattered little to the spirits around them.
The lack of recognition bread something within Okibe at a young age, something that pushed him as a child to always improve. He was quick to challenge anyone who was willing into contests; be it challenges of wit or athletics, Okibe was eager to set records and push boundaries. Okibe would be most evenly matched in battles of wit but was near unrivaled when it came to his physical aptitude. This innate talent helped guide him to the Gotei 13 where he joined the Academy.
As a rookie, Okibe began to foster a more disciplined nature. He was still eager to challenge but his instructors would often punish this brash behavior. The punishments were frequent enough that he nearly lost his opportunity to continue training as a shinigami, but he made a quick turnaround. He dialed in a bit more, looking at ways to honor his lineage versus his own selfish ideals. Thankfully, the spirit of Yasuke was strong enough to temper the hot steel that was Okibe. Unfortunately, Yaskue's blade skills were not passed down and Okibe found the usage of a zanpakuto to be challenging and restrictive. It was the first time he found physical skill work challenging and it changed him.
When one is descended from greatness, they often wish to hold themselves to the same standards. This was not a problem for Okibe except in areas most integral to his new job. His frustration fueled him to dig harder and overcompensate for his lack of blade work. He could never excel here, but so long as he could push himself in all other areas, it would matter less. So that's what he did.
Okibe spent the rest of his Academy years attempting to be at least average in zanjutsu but a master of hakuda. He began to understand Shunpo just before his graduation and, though he could not use high level Kidou, he was becoming innately aware of how to use the energy which was his earliest hint at Shunko. Okibe would graduate with good standing and was a formidable shinigami, and was assigned to Squad 3 initially but was temporarily transferred to the Onmitsukido for additional training and to fill a recent gap.
That temporary transfer almost became permanent as Okibe became a valued asset within the group. His skills were steadily improving but where he lacked in finesse he made up for in his speed and strength made him perfect for louder missions. Okibe initially felt like he was failing them but grew to reframe his time there as a chance to continue to learn. It was becoming evident that he was always behind somewhere for the role he was designated but that only meant he could still grow.
The onmitsukido would eventually find a proper replacement to swap Okibe out with and sent him to Squad 3 officially. Here, he took the many years of training and dedication and fused it into the man you see today. Okibe would always lead training sessions with the squad and made time for anyone who was looking to improve. He became almost like the mascot of the squad, a recognizable figure that everyone was genuinely pleased to have around if for no other reason than his infectious confidence can bleed into those around him.
With the recent shifting of the guard due to Aizen's betrayal, Okibe see's this as the opportunity to push for Captain status and step ever closer towards reaching the true peak of Shinigami power.
Faction: Gotei 13
Rank: Captain of Squad 3
Physical Abilities/Power:
Zanjutsu Practicioner:
Okibe is able to use a zanpkauto about as well as the average soul reaper. He wins no awards in this category and, if it could be lower, it would be off of skill alone. What allows Okibe to succeed remotely in this area is his general instinct and reflexes in combat. You would never know at a glance he was terrible if you were just a casual. However, Any master swordsman can easily tell he's compensating.
Hakudo Master:
Okibe has always had a natural gift with his athletics and Hakuda allows him to show this in full. His skill in hand-to-hand combat is high enough it allows him to pass as a competent swordsman. Before joining the Gotei, Okibe spent much of his time as a street brawler, lacking any formal skill but picking up instinctive, on the fly fighting habits. Those instincts were forming quickly in his formative years and, upon joining the academy, it was broken down and rebuilt with specific technique and skill.
Okibe was a quick learner and caught onto concepts after seeing them once. He was growing at such a rate that, in his spare time, he would practice making his own skills he modified from books stolen from the Realm of the Living. Okibe lives for the feeling of flesh striking flesh and often watches MMA, boxing, and wrestling whenever he's on patrol and has time.
Okibe's genuine love for Martial Arts is what fuels him most days and excites him whenever his limits are tested. His current goal is to master all worldly fighting styles, but, for now, he's content with his overall Hakuda mastery and hopes it takes him farther
Advanced Kido Practicioner:
Okibe isn't particularly good at using specific incantations above a high level. Mainly due to him being unable to memorize complex phrases and sayings. Thus, Okibe only knows a handful of Kido spells for day to day use.
Though his memory is atrocious, he is very aware of his body and the sensations he feels when using Kido. Where he can't use high level spells, he has greatly mastered how to best conserve energy when using low level kido spells and has found ways to make them more effective. This ability to more finely manipulate reiatsu and reishi has allowed him to dabble into Shunko, albeit for brief period right now.
Shunpo Expert:
Physical strength, natural talent, time with Onmitsukido and his continued resilience is what makes Okibe one of the fastest in the Gotei. Part of his monthly training is running around the perimeter of the Gotei as fast as possible while carrying heavy weights. Each attempt he's progressively gotten faster and his shunpo represents that. Theoretically, Okibe could be a Master but he doesn't use his speed in tactful ways, preferring to use it to stay close to his opponents or weave around them when in combat. Okibe is at a disadvantage at the start of most fights since he prefers hand to hand. The reach of blades tends to make this a challenge so mastering Shunpo has been a top priority. The faster he can close the gap the better he will be in a long term fiught
Shunko:
Okbie has begun to understand the fundamentals of Shunko. He's not proficient enough to maintain the form for extended period of time, like Soi-Feng or Yoruichi, but he has begun to incorporate it into his fighting style. Okibe's struggle with fully grasping has been increasing the output of kido energy to have flashy effects. However, since he's never been able to cast at high levels, he's uncertain about the sensation he'd feel and has been unable to maximize the form. Okibe has since decided to find a work around and has begun to attempt to craft his own technique.
Shunko: Chikaku hendō
This is a rudimentary upgrade to the base form of Shunko. By manipulating the innate pulse of reishi and infusing it with the repulsion properties of Sho and Seki, Okibe creates a thing barrier of oscillating reiatsu that surrounds his body. This adds an additional layer of defense while also slighty boosting the impacts of his attacks. The form pales in comparison to more advanced Shunko techniques but in Okibe's hand, he can turn the tide of a fight in the blink of an eye.
Immense Strength:
Okibe is a humble man but deep in his soul, he's near certain there's no one in the Gotei who rivals him in strength aside from Old Man Yama. Okibe is regularly seen hauling large weights during daily practice. He spends time training with Izuru Kira to increase the weight of his weapons whenever he's training. Okibe has been known to shatter bricks with just the pressure his punches can fire. It's rumored that if you were to strip Okibe of all his reiatsu and he just needed to use his physical body to fight, he could still stand up to a low 2nd seat without breaking a sweat and could hold his own against high level lieutenants.
Monstrous Endurance:
A hakuda expert with a brawlers sensibility has bread an immovable object in the ring. Okibe has built his body up to withstand as much of a beating as possible and still stand strong. He's not impervious to damage or immune to it's effects. Okibe just happens to have become proficient in ignoring his own pain receptors. It allows him to keep fighting beyond conventional limits at the risk of breaking his body further. Some in the Gotei have wondered if Kenpachi and Okibe were related, since their approach to self defense are parallel. Both are unafraid to take a blow if it means landing a bigger one. Their sense of self preservation is decided at the start of a battle and if it's do or die, they'd rather do. The difference is Okibe does not lust after death. What excites him about a fight is surpassing limits, not to walk beside death themselves. If it occurs, so be it, but that is never the goal.
Immense Spiritual Pressure:
Okibe did not train his body to it's breaking point and break every barrier he could find without enhancing his own spiritual pressure. Okive

Zanpakuto:
Suimin jishin (sleeping earthquake)
A pair of Sai's. The handle is wrapped in gold and black ray skin. The Yoku is slightly wider than an average Sai, but curl in tighter towards the tip. The tsukagashira is slightly larger than an average sai as well and is more blocky in shape.
The spirit is a mechanical being possessing 6 arms, hovering above and endless expanse of rocky terrain that is constantly shaking. The creature meditates in the center of the exanse, rising up and down in a delicate rhythm while the world shatters around it. To temper his Zanpakuto, Okbie had to learn to be able to walk upon the shaking ground without losing stride or balance.
Suimin Jishin is a quiet spirit, opting to meditate in silence rather than berate its wielder. The spirit will often allow Okibe a space to vent without fear of reprecussion and often when he becomes most true to his younger self.
Shikai:
"Beat your Drum, Suimin Jishin!" Okibe taps the blades together and a sound rings out from them. The Sais morph to form a pair of knuckle dusters with blades on both ends and small spikes on the knuckled portions.
Suimen Jishen is built around vibrations and quakes. Okibe gets a boost to his physical strength and speed upon activating his shikai. While in this state, Okibe can vibrate his fists to create friction and potentially drill through materials through a punch alone. Furthermore, he gains access to the following skills
Myaku (Pulse)
Okibe can strike an object and double the impact, sending an additional shockwave equal to the first impact. This is the primary way Okibe fights. There is a short delay from the moment an attack hits to the moment the second impact is applied and those fast enough can dodge the follow up.
Kudake chiru (Shatter)
Okibe strikes an object and vibrates at the resonant frequency of the target. When enough force is applied, the item will likely shatter/crack. There are limitations here though. Objects composed of dense enough reishi will not shatter and an opponent with high enough spiritual pressure will only feel the impact. Furthermore, Shatter requires constant contact with the surface to match the resonance unless Okibe is familiar with the object. Thus, common elements in the world are more easily broken than those manifested by powerful spiritual beings.
Miburui (Tremor)
Okibe punches the ground hard enough to cause a localized earthquake. The more punches applied, the higher the magnitude. The maximum radius of the shockwave is about 150 yards on the high end.
Bankai:
" Hammer the Earth, Tairiku no hakaimono" (Breaker of Continents) Okbie slams his fist together and his knuckle dusters vanish. In place are two pairs of arms linked by a Chakra. The arms are golden in color with slits that can show his reiatsu fueling it.
Upon releasing his Bankai, Okibe's speed is now further increased alongside his increase in strength. While in this form, Okibe can use long range combat with compact pressure waves that are fired from his punches. These are roughly half the potency of a direct hit but can still crater and break through thick stone.
The additional arms are natural extensions to Okibe but can act on their own accord to protect Okibe from damage he's not actively aware of. Each arm can comfortably wield a weapon if needed but Okibe obviously does not do this.
All prior abilities manifest albeit with some additional tweaks.
Myaku (Pulse)
The double impact is no longer a triggered ability and is innately active on each punch across all six of Okibe's arms.
Kudake chiru (Shatter)
Okibe can now weaken the structural integrity of spiritual items and can break those at his level or below within five clean hits.
Miburui (Tremor)
Okibe can now double the magnitude and unleash the attack faster with his additional arms.
In addition to these abilities, his bankai allows for three additional techniques
Sen no ken (1000 fists)
Okibe increases the speed of his punches to create numerous after images. Okibe can use this both defensively or offensively, however never both at once. When blocking, it appears as if a wall of hands protects Okibe from attacks while the inverse is true when done offensively. Furthermore, Okibe can only target one opponent at a time when using 1000 fists. These are affected by Myaku.
Chikaku hendō (Tectonic Shift)
Okibe charges a combined punch to strike a foe with the force needed to move a continent. The attack was inspired by Old Man Yama's Sokotsu technique and is, effectively, a much stronger version of it. Okibe typically needs to recharge between uses and is limited to three times when using his Bankai.
Kyōshin (Resonance)
Okibe fuses the four arms onto his alone. This bulks his arms up slightly but now allows for him to go all out. Okibe can only use this once per usage of his Bankai as it drains all his remaining Reiatsu. This advanced form removes the defensive capabilities of his Bankai to bet everything on offense. In this form, Okibe is vibrating at high speeds, increasing the relative mass and energy needed to strike foes and thus, increasing output by triple. He's also faster, now able to create after images that are nearly tangible. The form is unable to be maintained for extended periods as the vibrations disrupts his bodies natural functions which disrupts his control over his reiatsu. One day he hopes to fully master it but a part of him is certain it will be the one wall he can never scale.
