The lightly forested cliffsides are eerily quiet, with only the sounds of their footsteps and the occasional bird or other small animal breaking the silence. The group embarked for the Peaks before the sun even rose, and it was midday at this point. They weren't particularly deep into the mountain range, but the terrain has already proven treacherous with many slips and sheer cliff faces making progress slow and tedious. At least, slow and tedious for three of them. The fourth party member would drop in from above, landing behind them nearly silently though making just enough noise to alert them of their presence. If this was the first time they did this the three would be surprised, but this person seems to do it constantly. Since the Twins and Solomon are both newly minted Hunters, the Order decided to assign an overqualified person to make sure the mission went smoothly. Introductions were curt, with her simply introducing herself as Vanessa and otherwise seeming to brush them off, telling them to "try not to slow me down". Everything about her demeanor made it plainly obvious that she saw the three of them as more of a burden than as colleagues. The entire trek thus far has largely been the trio desperately trying to keep up with Vanessa as she constantly goes ahead and dispatches any monsters that would be even remotely a threat. Vanessa seems to have air etchings or something similar, because her ability to move in three dimensions and travel at inhuman speeds was always accompanied by a gust of wind. Because of her dealing with everything by herself the trio haven't even needed to draw their weapons. "I've found what's probably the scout's campsite up ahead," Vanessa says. "If you want to make yourselves useful, check it for clues while I keep overwatch to make sure you lot don't die,"((At the start of this mission Solomon receives 20 free ammo for his Falconers)) ((As an investigation mission, it will not be as action-packed as your typical combat thread. The twins tried, but failed to get the much needed rest they needed before their first mission. They had to set out early as it was and yet the girls spent much of the night chatting about the mission they were set to go on. They wondered who else had accepted the mission, who they were gonna end up traveling with and hoped they could learn something from one of the more experienced hunters.
Before they knew it, the alarm rang signifying that it was time to get to the meeting point with the group before setting out. With some mindful, breathy sighs, they set out to meet with the rest of the search party.
” Hello there "
Bella waved at the people present
” my names Bella, and this is my sister Badri
At the mention of her name, Badri had given a shy wave. It was apparent who was the more social between the two girls.
” we're twins, if you couldn't tell.
She joked, maybe a bit too chipper for the early morning hours but she wanted to make a good first impression.
Shortly after all introductions were had, they were off for the mountain ranges.
They were eager to prove their physical capabilities to their partners but the trek up the mountain wasn't an easy one at all... But at least they were able to keep pace with solomon at the very least.
They thought they were well conditioned but the trek to and up the mountains path proved them otherwise. There wasn't much of a chance for them to prove their worth which was a mixed bottle of emotions from the girls. Bella was annoyed to not get to prove their skills, and abilities while Badri was more patient, grateful that, to some extent, they got to conserve their energy for the eventual rescue.
” I think it prudent we familiarize ourselves with the other. We use crystal, and I have a duskrazor while my sister uses Shadeheart”
Badri offered, to Solomon before vanessa got the drop on them again. She did it multiple times not and the girls still tensed slightly when she did, but wasn't as surprised as when she first did it.Vanessa came down to tell them that she had spotted a camp ground, urging them to get some work done. Not that much budging was needed upon discovery as the girls were quick to check the tent and the surrounding area for any signs of struggle and potential tracks that could lead them to the direction of which the hunter probable hostage was taken.

Solomon had woken bright and early the morning the bounty he'd picked started, having trained over many years to become a morning person, to get a little more training in. One should never pass up an opportunity to practice, and of course, stay in shape! He wasn't sure if it was possible to get OUT of shape as a hunter, but old habits remained, plus training and experience did still provably come with benefits even among these superhumans, as he'd seen during his induction. He still had trouble really processing that he was one of them now, sometimes, the excitement not having worn off quite yet--he'd started slowly meeting his fellow hunters, finding out the order contained all sorts of interesting people.
He'd just started to think he'd seen all the sorts of people it could contain, when he met one of his partner(s) for this mission, and his brows climbed high on his forehead. One, two heads...did he count them as one, or two? He even cocked his head in confusion, but even as he tried to puzzle that out, his smile remained never far from his face--the morning did not bother him in the slightest, and her chipper attitude actually seemed to start helping put him at ease.
Despite the weirdness, she (they?) were interesting, and after they introduced themselves, he gave a little wave back. "Solomon. Nice to meet...the two of you. Gee, I never would have guessed you were twins," he added, throwing a bit of a joke back himself before nodding in agreement--they should get going. It actually made him even more at ease to joke back and forth with them with occasional banter (maybe he wasn't the wittiest but he was always willing to throw a pun or two their way, and sometimes cracking a joke might land), though through the trip he'd still occasionally slip glances at them as if trying to figure out how such a thing was possible. Or maybe he was checking them out? Nah, those glances were more curiosity than interest of that sort.
He was glad, too, they seemed to be in good shape and coordinated just like he was, he had been worried for a bit that having two heads might split their focus, but however they did it, they managed, somehow. He did raise brows when they talked about their abilities, about to reply--when the other hunter dropped in on them. He yelped in a most undignified fashion despite it not being the first time she'd done that, and reflexively his hands tightened on the hilts of his swords for just a moment before he recognized her once more and relaxed with a grunt. He tried to make that the only sign of his annoyance, and for a while he succeeded. He even finally reciprocated the twins' little moment of exposition, showing them his swords, and the metal etching on his arm before pulling his sleeve back down into place.
But as they continually had nothing to do, he grew more and more...bored, humming quietly to himself, at least in the moments he didn't need to save his breath for keeping up with an obviously stronger and more experienced hunter. He would have liked to get in some practical experience...even a small, minor monster would have done fine to alleviate his boredom. Perhaps an investigation mission had been a poor choice for a first mission, but he'd thought maybe he'd be there to help fend off distractions while the others looked for clues. So much for that idea. At least all the time with nothing to do, he had some idea to decide what he wanted to look for when they got there.
They finally were allowed to do...something, once they got to the campsite, and by then he was visibly annoyed. He took a deep breath, let it out slowly, and joined the twins in studying the site. While they studied the tent and its immediate surroundings, he spent his time studying the perimeter of the camp, looking for signs of any precautions the hunter might have taken when camping here to ensure their own safety, as well as what or who might have bypassed them, and how. Obviously with only one hunter they couldn't have traded watches with a partner, so they had to have tried to take some such precautions...right?

Vanessa would lead them to the campsite and once again dip out of view. Upon arrival they'd already notice some oddities about the camp. First they'd see a pot full of uneaten stew, still hanging over the unlit fire pit. There'd be no signs of a struggle whatsoever, and upon inspecting the tent they'd find a bunch of survival gear and, most concerningly, a scimitar still in its scabbard. The essence runes on the blade reveal it to be some kind of custom Hunter Weapon. As for footprints they'd find the footprints of a single humanoid, most likely the Hunter, dotted around the camp before finally walking off into some underbrush. Following it would yield little results however, as they only get just barely out of view of the camp before the footprints suddenly end. There isn't any sign of a struggle near the end of the tracks either. Solomon's search for precautions would yield some results, locating a handful of traps, most untripped. Of the ones that were tripped, the victims all seemed to be animals based on the tracks around them. No corpses, in spite of the fact that multiple of the traps would've been instantly lethal to regular animals. While he was searching Solomon would get the feeling that he's being watched, but the feeling goes away once he returns back to the camp itself. Upon opening up the tent, the twins stood there for a second, and glanced at each other. it would seem as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. If they didn't know any better, they would think that there wasn't an issue here at all. But no hunter would leave all their gear if they were going to be gone for any period of time. Finding the hunters footprints were easy enough as well but it was only a single track and, yet again no sign of trouble.
” this is odd, they left all their stuff behind, they didn't intend on leaving camp when they disappeared
Bella called out to her partners as they looked around
” and who or whatever got them, got them left no sign of anything. Found anything on your end Solomon?
Bella called out to him, noticing that he was looking around as well. She thought about asking Vanessa as well but she couldn't figure out where she was at the moment.
” There was never any intention of leaving, most likely they were subdued before taken... We're definitely dealing with something or someone intelligent ”
Badri made note, while urging her sister back to where the foot prints ended. She was searching for... She wasn't sure, but she looked out in the horizon looking for anything that seemed out of place.

The way the tracks just ended, no sign of a struggle, no return or moving further into the brush, made Solomon scratch his head. And then the traps...several tripped but no sign of the animals that had to have been the victims. He almost assumed that maybe they'd perhaps all gone into the stew--but the human footprints as far as he could tell, did not go near those, which would be obviously necessary to gather them if that had been the hunter's intention.
He was just about to turn back when he noticed the prickling on his neck that told him someone was watching him. his head half turned as if he'd heard something, but his eyes swiveled further, trying to discreetly spot what might be watching in his peripherals if he had to, but whether he saw any sign of what kind of eyes might be on him or not, he quickly retreated--solely to compare notes with Bella and Badri, of course, not because he was unnerved. Why should eyes on him bother him at all?
"The hunter placed a few traps. Most of them untouched, but it looked like some of them caught animals. But the animals were gone, no sign of what happened to them. They were traps that should have instantly killed them." He glanced back for a moment at the perimeter of the camp, and then back to them, and lowered his voice to a bare whisper. "I think something was watching me, too. I felt that weird...feeling, on the back of my neck that I get when someone is hiding and watching..." He rubbed the back of his neck as if it itched--or still prickled. "And I'm positive it wasn't Vanessa watching. Do you think whatever did it is still here?"
