Miles' ride sped down the street like they were on an entirely different coast. Cars and some daring pedestrians dove out of the way, not wanting to get between this driver and his joy ride. And it was a joy. If the tricked out hood, spinners, graffiti tags on the trunk didn't give it away, the interior was its own work of art. There was hardly any space to it, but every inch of the car had been styled as its own work of art. Thankfully, Miles wasn't the one driving. This was his uncle's car, after all.
"Shee-it, you doin' good if you're rollin' 'round these parts, Miles. Lemme guess: it's your gal pal."
Aaron smirked as he took another sharp turn. One could hear the tires squeal against the asphalt. It didn't phase Aaron at all. He had been in street races worse than this. Not that Miles had to know about those (or his pops, for that matter). Aaron didn't take his eyes off the road for an instant, though he carried his conversation as if it was the only thing he was focusing on. "Jus' rem, ember: play it cool. You may think you're hot. I might think that too. But they don't. You gotta earn it, Miles. Tonight, next week, it'll come. But not yet."
Then, everything came to a stop. The car jerked back and forth for a full second, then steadied. It was a miracle any of Aaron's cars survived his stunts in a single night, never mind for all the years he had been driving them. Aaron turned to look at Miles. His nonsense face was gone - for once, there was some responsibility behind his uncle's eyes. "Your pops ask how you get here, I had nothin' to do with it." For the longest time, Jefferson and Aaron had been... strained didn't begin to cover it. Keeping the old man in the dark was as helpful for Aaron as it was for Miles.
Outside Miles' door was one of the larger places on this block, and one that was all one unit at that. The party was already well underway. Miles could already spot Ganke trying to get inside. Only a select few people had gotten invitations. Somehow, Miles had been one of them.
Aaron lightly punched Miles' shoulder. "Knock 'em dead, kid."
