Omnilingual Translation: Cypher is a hyper-linguist, and has a superhuman facility for translating any languages, spoken or written, human or alien in origin. His superhuman skill also extends to his great facility in deciphering codes and computer languages. Cypher's skills are such that he was once able to make great headway in translating the written language of an extraterrestrial race in a matter of minutes. Cypher's mutant talent for translating differs from the translating ability that a human who is a genius in this field, yet not a mutant, possesses, even though both people might achieve the same results with any given translation problem. Cypher's mutant talent is an intuitive one which works on a subconscious level, whereas others will have to work out a translation consciously, step by step. Rather than working the problem out step by step, in his conscious mind, Cypher instead subconsciously solves the problem. Hence, Cypher can reach the correct solution by means that appear to be leaps of logic, and he himself may not have been consciously aware of the entire process by which he reaches the right answer.
Telepathic Immunity: Cypher is immune to psychic reading. He has invented his own extremely complex language in order to think, thereby preventing any psychic from being able to understand his thoughts. This also makes it difficult to use psychic illusions against him. He does not have any particular resistance to posession, sleep, psychic attacks, or other telepathic powers that are not linguistically dependent.
Gifted Intelligence: Even without his powers, Doug possessed a gifted intellect. Doug has an extensive knowledge of programming, computer science, and engineering, and can hack some of the most protected systems not only in the world, but in the universe as alien languages and codes are no barrier to him.

Warlock™ Omni-tool: Doug developed a portable omni-tool for his various technical needs as a SWORD agent. It started out as a smart watch, but he kept adding hardware until it ended up as more of a smart cuff. The Warlock Omni-tool includes a touch screen, large battery cells, and three small compartments for wire, a small torch, and small spare parts for computer repair; several small tools inspired by Victorinox’s Swiss Army Knives; and a stylus with adjustable/universal connector. It has almost everything he could need for field repairs - though not every long-term fix.

Physical Appearance: Doug is a scrawny white boy. He has almost straight dishwater blonde hair, blue eyes, and a complexion that makes it really, really obvious if he is even slightly broken out. He has a wide mouth prone to sudden laughter, big smiles, and miscellaneous loud-mouthery and smart-mouthery. He's surprisingly tall at 6'3, but more like a bean pole or scarecrow than a Viking god.
Clothing and Armor: Doug dresses on the business side of business casual, spending most of his time in a government office. He wants to avoid looking like an FBI agent in a cheap suit, so he tends more toward blazers, vests, or cardigans with button downs and slacks. He’s not cool.

- Any time Doug eats out, he texts a picture of the plate to his dad. After he finishes the meal, he texts his dad a one sentence review. His dad does the same.
- Sometimes Doug will play music and other audio in different languages on multiple devices. It starts to feel a little funny around seven overlapping languages.
- After Doug realized he could read programming languages, it took about 18 months before he could process the information effectively.
- Doug started an LGBT employee resource group at SWORD with Alex Danvers.
- For the Pad's MtG Commander games, Doug mains Kaito Blue-Black mill-and-discard ninja build with a heavy splash of artifacts. He also likes Jace Blue mill-and-draw control build with a heavy splash of artifacts. And Blue-White mecha vehicle-and-equipment deck with a heavy splash of denial.
