It had been ten years, and Elijah still wasn't used to the power dampening collar around his neck. He lifted a hand to his neck as he walked to the mess hall, fingertips trying to dig underneath the edge of the collar, straining to message a chafed spot. Elijah bobbed his head slightly and hummed along to a rhythm in his head as he walked behind his fellow inmates, having memorized a multitude of songs while imprisoned, some of them he had written himself. He wasn't allowed to take his notebook with him when he was transferred from the Raft, so his memory of songs would have to substitute for the real thing. For his last year on the Suicide Squad, Elijah had been transferred to Belle Reve, the given reason being "to promote unit cohesion". It didn't make sense to Elijah to move him across the country just to improve team relations, especially in his last year. Elijah wasn't particularly friendly with the other members of Task Force X, at least, not with the members he had already met and served with. He wasn't particularly interested in getting to know them better either. But Elijah always knew that he wasn't in charge, just another pawn for Waller to play until he was free. Or dead. Death was always a possibility in Task Force X. The mess hall in Belle Reve felt about the same size as the mess hall on the Raft, which made sense to Elijah. He didn't know of many other prisons that held super-powered individuals besides those two. He assumed that he would get the same amount of space to himself when eating. He didn't always eat by himself; Elijah occasionally ate with a friend at the Raft. But he was new here in Belle Reve, and felt somewhat wary glancing at the unfamiliar faces in the room. It reminded him of his first weeks in prison, when he still wasn't acquaintances with anybody. After waiting in line to get a tray of slop, some kind of meatloaf, and corn, Elijah made his way over to an unoccupied table and took a seat, immediately starting to eat, feeling hungrier than usual. He had these 30 minutes to himself (or so he thought), unable to stay truly isolated due to a cellmate, and preferring to play basketball during yard time.

With her head held high, Lilith sauntered through the mess Hall humming a tune of her own. Having spent years here, her creative spirits have ebbed and flowed but she always savored any type autonomy she was given, even it was still monitored, it was preferable to spending time in isolation.
Being allowed to interact with others, even if for just 30 minutes at a time, was always a blessing... As much as one as she was going to get, anyhow. Even in prison, she also couldn't be seen as less than poised and proper. What kind of Belle would she be if she allowed herself to present less than proper ettiquite after all?
Thanking the lunch folk (even if the lunch was less than appealing), minding her manners, and apologies when invading personal spaces of others may seem odd but it was all par of the course for her and, it would be evident to the one she choose to sit with. Having zeroed in on a new, yet also familiar face she had made her way to the table of a fellow task force X squad member and gave him one of her bright charming smiles
"Good afternoon... Elijah, is it? Mind if I sit here?"
She would query, giving him little time to respond, sitting down regardless of his answer given
"I dont think I've seen you round these parts, a guy like you would be quite hard to miss, after all"
She mused, as she poked into her meatloaf absentmindedly.

Elijah stopped, almost literally froze in place, when he saw women enter the mess hall. It took him several moments for him to register that he wasn't dreaming, and that this was in fact real life. Belle Reve had co-ed lunches? This was unbelievable. Elijah didn't dare think that Amanda Waller would be so liberal with the prisoners under her watch, this had to be some sort of trick.
Elijah's eyes settled on Lilith for a few moments, finding her manner unusual in the prison. She certainly seemed polite. Refined, despite her current status, home, and present company. She held herself like some kind of Southern debutante, with the accent and everything. It was...refreshing, though still odd. His eyes widened when he saw her start to approach him, just now aware that he had been starting to stare.
"Good afternoon," he started, eyes on the woman who had sat across from him, and knew his name. Lilith was familiar; he remembered the face and the voice from one earlier mission. "I just transferred here from the Raft, up in New York," he answered, perhaps seeming a bit more guarded than he had to be, watching Lilith poke into her meatloaf. "I'm sorry, but...I'm dreaming, right? Or dead? Cuz there's no way Waller would let men and women eat together." ...Right?

"I was wonderin the same thing, but I don't wanna be pinched"
She stated with a sultry tone, giving Elijah a wink "but, no. We eat Co-ed in here, we do everything Co-ed here besides sleeping arrangements"
She noted as she let out a stretch and then shortly after had rested her head upon a hand as the other hand popped a few kernels of corn in her mouth which she slowly chewed

Elijah listened intently, still feeling a bit cautious, suspicious. Elijah had to give Waller credit. Either Waller handled Task Force X more progressively than he had imagined, or the Director knew how exactly to mess with Task Force X members.
"Everything but sleeping arrangements, huh?" Elijah had a question about the showers. He let it go. Just the mere sight of a woman was enough to throw him off balance. He wasn't even sure if he had the wherewithal to flirt. He was certain the last time he was this close to a woman was before his sentence.
"So...What are you in for?" he asked, unsure what else to ask the woman.

"Mhm... That's what I said. Don't know bout you but it adds a bit more... Spice round here"
Lillibeth let a half smile grace her face as she studied the male before her. He seemed tense, a bit on edge though she couldn't explicitly blame him, the Belle Reve wasn't exactly the most inviting place.
Then he asked his question which elicited a slight chuckle from the girl, as she shook her head
"that's quite the heavy hitting question for a first... encounter. A good gentleman knows how to build up to the more... Serious questions. Besides I like to keep it a bit mysterious, don't you?"
She quipped, before taking on a more thoughtful expression
"when did you discover that you possess the mutant gene?"

Elijah shook his head slightly. "I'm actually not a mutant. I got tested for the gene once and it turned up negative. I actually don't know where my powers come from. I was born this way." He stroked his chin thoughtfully. "The first time I knew I had powers though was during 8th grade English class. I was so nervous while trying to give a speech that I blew a hole through the ceiling and almost set the room on fire..."
"Sorry about my question. I guess I'm not a good gentleman," said Elijah somewhat sheepishly, feeling like he had to remind himself how to interact with people. He knew it was a personal question. He wasn't exactly fond of telling others why he was here either. "It's just that you're not the type of person I'd expect to be in here. I like to know what I can expect from my teammates."
"What about you? When did you first discover your power?" he asked, scratching at his power dampening collar again.
