Conqueror, warlord, revolutionary, king. These were all titles that his followers had bestowed upon Grodd at his height, yet none ever fit right for him. Not once did he put any of those within their minds. All it did was prove what he knew to be true. The masses would always flock to the superior. And with his stature, his abilities. He was certainly worthy, of being superior. But now here "he" was, trapped within this water floating island they called a prison. Where the so-called Scum of the Earth had been ensnared and left to rot. This was no prison, this was a hole for them to throw away those who dared struggle against the suffocating world they lived in.
The world was changing, yet the powers that be had not realized it yet. When in fact, it was already in motion. Change was coming, it was always coming. Evolution would always persist. Grodd was quite fond of that man,D arwin. Despite his hominid deficiencies, the man understood the single rule that the Earth abided by. Natural Selection. For years the gorillas of Gorilla City grew, developed, made their perfect paradise within the trees. And then, here he was. The culmination of centuries of evolution. Not just mentally superior, but within his mind, the catalyst for change brewed. So here he was.
Orchestrating the Natural Order.
Despite his resources, and his power. This was not a world where he could go it alone. To combat the oppressive League that had ensured his stay here, he would need to amass others to his cause. others like him, destined to rule, destined for a life of conquest and power, yet denied it by the watchers in the sky, the superheroes that would claim what is theirs, but would not allow the same of others. Hypocrites in flashy colors. Luckily for Grodd, there was another aboard the one way ticket to isolation who would prove, useful.
One without a hominid presence, and one without a terrestrial experience. Rather, someone wholly not human. The perfect partner.
It was feeding time at the zoo.
Grodd found himself sectioned off into another atrium as their food was dished out, the section of the Raft they found themselves within had been fully automated, to lessen the risk of guards being ripped asunder, a wise move. Even without his true body, the one he inhabited now, was still capable of great violence. The hulking gorilla, on his hind legs, took the bowl of gruel and turned to witness Throkk. The Battle beast. Just the Beast he needed.
"To sit within their cages is unbecoming of an individual such as yourself" Came the sophisticated, intelligent voice. He nodded at the one who appeared to be a lion with a smirk, not baring his teeth, but one of confidence and assurance. "You resemble panthera leo, a creature I am all too familiar with. In our age, they are known as kings of the jungle, unchallenged, unstoppable. To many they consider them to be an apex predator. One without threat. I look upon you and I believe I see those same traits. So it occurs to a mind of my standing. Would someone of such strength not be able to simply, leave this pathetic cage? And it occurs to me, that they could." he locked eyes with Throkk, anticipating an attack, perhaps he would offend him, but either way, he would adapt. After all, he was not the one at threat of extinction.
"Grodd, Gorilla Grodd. May I join you?"
