Name: Miranda Griffon
Age: Late 20s to Early 30s
Gender: Female
Birthplace: Miranda is from the colonies, all official information on her background had been erased due to her stint in Zeon Intelligence during the war.
Faction: AEUG
Rank: Warrant Officer
Appearance:
Miranda is an imposing tan skinned amazon of a woman, standing at 5 feet, 10 inches tall. She always carries a confident swagger or seriousness on her face. Shape wise her figure is hourglass shaped. Her body is packed with muscles that make her look like a bodybuilder or fit swimsuit model, her excuse being that she needs it to be able to easily snap a grown man's neck at any given time. She has short jagged black hair with blue highlights in her bangs that nearly match her blue eyes which are accented with black eyeshadow and eyeliner.
She dresses the part of a merc or pirate, often wearing an outfit that accents her cleavage and is usually sleeveless and or a croptop. Miranda still wears or slings an old Talons jacket over her shoulders. She isn't afraid to show skin, often relaxing in her quarters in nothing but underwear, perfectly comfortable rushing through the ship to suit up at a moment's notice.
Personality:
Miranda is a flamboyant charismatic woman who shows no fear or hesitation in battle. She has a generally positive demeanor, but can come across as rude or sarcastic. She can be a bit of a flirt, not afraid to hit on men or women to get a little action now and again. At most she won't commit to anything other than a friendship, in her profession she couldn't take losing someone that she loved. On the inside she is broken, suffering from PTSD and nightmares from when she watched the Talons and an entire colony die at the hands of the Titans. She drowns her sorrows and stress out with booze, gambling, brawling, piloting or casual encounters if she can find someone that isn't clingy.
When it comes to her past, she isn't afraid to share that she was a Zeon officer, sharing that she probably killed or was responsible for killing someone you know. Miranda honestly doesn't care because unlike many, she wasn't a fanatic. Mainly looking to keep herself and the friends she had made on the streets from going hungry. She doesn't mind in the slightest if someone tried to take revenge on her, though they'd have to actually beat her in a fist fight to do so.
While holding the rank of Warrant Officer, she sees it as a way to avoid the responsibilities of being a full officer (plausible deniability as well) but still command respect from everyone. She is unsure of her ability to be responsible for commanding others after what happened to the Talons. Anyone younger than her needs to earn her respect, anyone way older than her needs to prove that they are still useful.
History: While her birth records and anything that might link her to a particular colony may be lost, Miranda is sharp enough to tell people her story without any clues. She was born a 2nd generation colonist, her parents leaving behind some Eurasian hellhole for a better life. Life in the colonies wasn't much of an improvement. Miranda often got into trouble, skipping school or hanging out with the wrong crowds. She even started her own gang at one point, having a racket that got the corrupt Fed soldiers illegal items while gathering intelligence for the growing revolutionary movement. When there was a clear shift in the politics and formation of armed forces... she was among the first to volunteer. It wasn't exactly out of patriotism, more out of boredom and a way to get out of the slums. Griffon and her gang slowly grew into their roles in the Zeon forces, keeping in contact with one another as the war went off without a hitch. Though as time went on, the messages grew more frequent... but fewer people sent them. A majority of her actions during the war were classified, many of those records being later lost to time. The last chapter of the war saw a majority of the gang destroyed, Miranda who had climbed up to the rank of Commander managed to accumulate most of them under her command.
The war ended poorly, Miranda, her gang and whoever she picked desperately tried to gather what they could in terms of military arms. When they tried to form a mercenary group to make money, many of the hardliners went to join the growing Delaz fleet. The remainder formed Talon, mercenaries for hire. They used cobbled together machines from battlefields or purchased refurbished units from fellow entrepreneur Alan Lynch's salvage company. Talon didn't care who the enemy was as long as the client was paying, though they actively declined offers from Delaz or any other of his followers. And rightly so, when Delaz initiated his plan... Many were horrified by what repercussions would follow. When the Titans were formed, Talon had brushed up against them several times. Miranda sometimes had no choice but to bow to Titan jurisdiction when they demanded it, she didn't want to have a negative relationship with them. For a few years it was actually tolerable, at least until they were hired for a big job.
It was a large job that demanded all of Talon's resources, contracted to provide security at a colony that feared retribution from their neighbors after having several anti-Federation protests. At first it seemed like a dream job as many didn't take it seriously, goofing off to the colony's bars and nightclubs. From the shadows, they were being manipulated. Miranda had noticed some inconsistencies in the bank information and confronted the colony's government. It was discovered that the real client wasn't even a citizen. But it was too late to act on it. The blue mobile suits attacked in droves, mercilessly slaughtering Talon's undermanned ships and Mobile Suits caught off-guard. Miranda barely had time to get a space suit on when the colony was gassed. She witnessed first hand the destruction and death that the Titans brought, it broke her inside. She managed to escape a few days later using a mostly intact Rick Dom to reach Granada.
Once on the moon, she sold it to a collector and spent the next few months drowning herself in alcohol, gambling herself into near debt and taking on various bodyguard jobs. An old associate now working for Anaheim recognized her, offering her a gig to test machines. Miranda saw it as a steady job and she didn't have to deal with whiny Earth tourists anymore. She was surprised at how duplicitous the company was, selling machines to both the AEUG and Titans. Even managing to test pilot the Marasai and Nemo machines before they were mass produced. Working eased the trauma she suffered from the destruction of Talon and witnessing first hand the murder of innocent civilians. The AEUG began scrapping up pilots as their war against the Federation and more specifically those Titan bastards increased. An internal email eventually reached her, asking if Talon was willing to take on a new job. They were as desperate as she thought they were. Miranda accepted on the conditions that the AEUG paid the same salary she had been receiving and matched it.
