The Victorian in Canoga Park" Near the Victorian in Canoga Park." Tony looks down at the text on his cell before raising his eyes to the pale green, 75ft tall building. He had read that it had been built with the scraps of other Victorian homes as they were torn down in favor of the modern-day version of L.A. He glances at the 'For Lease' sign posted out front in the tiny side garden full of robust, desert plants. " Nothing for it," Tony mutters as he walks down the brick path meant for cars to roll through to the parking area in the back. He tucks his hands into the front pocket of the white hoodie he wears, trying his best to ignore the weight of the blazer over it. It was nowhere near cold enough in Southern California for this type of outfit yet, but it is the only thing that can cover how thin he has gotten since his last public appearance 3 months ago. He hangs a right halfway through the tunnel, following the narrow concrete staircase down into the earth. At the bottom is a door with a little scanner and he presses his thumb to it. Pale green light rolls over his hand before the sound of a lock rolling out of place fills the space. The room on the other side of the door is bare, lacking any personality or color. All surfaces are made of the same concrete as the stairwell except for a dark metal pad in the middle of the room. Tony checks his watch, noting the time and wondering where Barbara is. She's usually so punctual. With a heavy sigh, Tony leans against the wall beside the door and waits for the telepad to....do something.

"Turned 'round 6 o'clock and I'm still sleepin', I don't have to work on Saturday, but I do anyway~"
Johnny was in good spirits as he sauntered past the Victorian. Los Angeles, what a city! A routine League visit had brought him here, directed by Oracle to sweep the area for issues. He had stopped two muggings and a car robbery already, and it wasn't even lunchtime yet. Babs had linked his earpiece to his phone, and he was enjoying some music as he made his way to the teleporter. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, girls were waving - it was a good day to be the Human Torch. "'Round the corner right on up to the shop. I come creeping, but it don't matter anyway. 'Cause I know - oh."Johnny stopped as he heard the door ahead clunk open. Weird. There shouldn't be any traffic through here, or so Oracle had said. He frowned, slowing to a stop, flexing his hands just in case he needed to bring the heat. Could be some two-bit villain who stumbled upon their secret teleporter. Could be a thief breaking into supposedly abandoned buildings. Whoever it was, Johnny would take his chances. He continued walking until he reached the scanner, pressing his thumb against it and watching as the door swang back, grinning at the figure inside. "'Cause I know it's just as well, And even so I feel like hell. You can say that it's alright, but I am wrapped up tight~. Good morning! Nice day for it, huh? Mind if I ask you what you're doing hanging around here? It's kind of a super top-secret operation, not something just anyone should be looking at."

Tony looks up from his staring contest with the telepad (which he was winning) with a quick, "Kid, all I do is deal with top-secret operations. I used the scanner to get in the same as you. If I wasn't supposed to be here, I wouldn't be. Unless you're implying Oracle's work is subpar?"
One eyebrow lifts as Tony takes in the appearance of the other man and he 'hm's softly. This man is familiar, though he can't quite place him. Something about that knowing and off-putting grin just reminds him of-
"Was I just getting scolded by the Johnny Storm? What were you gonna do, give me the 3rd degree?" An all too pleased smirk fits across his mouth as Tony continues while never leaving the side of the telepad. "Afternoon to you too, Johnny. I can call you 'Johnny' right? Right. No need to get all heated up. I was merely waiting for my ride."
Stark gestures to the still-silent telepad. "I don't suppose you have a set of keys?"

"Ohmygodyou'reTonyStark heyyyyy, fancy seeing you here, Tony!"Johnny caught a breath as he nearly took a step back. Tony Stark? Iron Man? The living legend who had ignited the Justice League against the Kree Invasion of New York? This was genuinely like meeting one of his heroes. He gave the man a goofy grin. "Woah, hey, no offence meant, but I have fought shape-shifting temporal beings before that can take the form of anyone. You never know, right, Tony? Can I call you Tony? You can call me Johnny. Johnny Storm. Just Johnny. Hah!"Johnny took a breath to calm himself, reminding his brain that he was actually a Justice League member as well. Although... was Iron Man anymore? Barbara had briefly mentioned Tony before. Hadn't he stepped down? At least he hadn't lost his sense of humour.
"Yeah, man, of course. I can bring you up if you stick with me. Tony. Hey, does Babs know you're coming?"

Tony's ego inflates greatly as he seems to notice that Johnny knows of him. In fact, it almost sounds like he just might be a fan. Oh, he is going to have so much fun with him. Poor thing.
"That is very wise. You can never be too careful when it comes to shape-shifting temporal beings or fey," Tony agrees with a sage nod. He has never met either, but Johnny Storm does not need to know that. "Of course, you can call me 'Tony.'" And his voice is layered with playful offense and mock shock. "After all, we're co-workers, Johnny. That practically makes us friends."
Stark hesitates before offering his best attempt at a sheepish smile, "I mean, unless you don't think we're there yet. I can completely understand if you need more time before you would call me 'friend.'"
Johnny's agreement brings true satisfaction to Tony's smile, the corners of his eyes crinkling just a touch.
"That would be fantastic, Johnny. I really appreciate the help. Barbara knows I'm on the way, though it has been so long since I've worked one of these. My work has kept me out and about." He glances at the telepad as if he could get it to work just by staring long enough and rubs the back of his neck. "You mind giving me a crash course?"

Johnny is enthralled by Tony Stark. Ironic, seeing as how he was a famous Superhero as well, but this guy... he was the OG of the new kids on the block! He gave Tony a bashful grin.
"Sure, Tony. Tony! Yeah, I think we're basically best friends already, right?"
He turned to the teleporter, as if he was a scientist studying his incredible invention, studious and smart. Johnny nodded as he stroked his chin.
"Yeah, I'm pretty good with this tech. I worked with Reed Richards, you know... did you know? I was one of the Fantastic Four. I was the Fantastic part. Hah! Hah!"
Johnny was floundering all of a sudden, overwhelmed after meeting his hero. He coughed, calmed himself, and took on a look of immense seriousness.
"It's a very powerful spell, so be careful. Take my hand," he said, offering it out, "and repeat the magic words after me. "Ego Sum credulus. Ego Sum credulus. Ego Sum credulus!"

Johnny reminds him of a golden retriever and Tony can see why Barbara likes him. Even Tony's natural 'I could not care less' attitude feels further away. He watches as Johnny steps up to the teleporter, stroking his chin, and Tony smirks. Either this guy has no idea what he's doing or he's putting on a show to override his nerves.
"I followed your exploits for a while when I was running my company. It felt like your face was always on the TV. Those news reporters absolutely loved you." He isn't lying either. He's heard more than his fair share of people talking about the 'Fantastic Part' of the Fantastic Four.
Stark reaches out to take his hand, praying that the younger man will be focused on his magic enough not to feel how thin it is or how it trembles. He wonders if he should have stayed at him for the sake of his reputation and company. Then, Tony thinks of the silence and impossible project at home and decides this is better.
All he wants is to be in the Watchtower. To look down at Earth and enjoy the sight while he has time. Tony's eyebrows raise as the 'magic words' reach his ears. He knows enough Latin to understand that this can't be right.
"Who taught you those words," he asks, noting that the runes around the teleporter are lighting up one by one. Tony Stark has no idea how any of this is working. "Do you know what they mean, Johnny?"

"Well, that's true! They loved a bit of Johnny, back in the day. Even now, I'm the one they come to for interviews. I get it, honestly. I'm the token hot guy! Did you see my interview on Late Night with Jimmy Olsen? It felt good to be back."
Johnny grinned at Tony as he took his hand. He didn't flinch at the frailty of the man, but noted it as something to keep quiet about. Johnny sometimes had a sense when to keep his mouth shut. Sometimes. The rules began to light up, but he frowned at the question.
"Babs taught me them. What, did I say it wrong? I thought I did alright! See, the teleporter is working and everything..."
Johnny frowned as the light slowly dawned on him, and he shook his head, grinning as he realised the joke.
"... it means something stupid, right? I'm a jackass over and over, or something? That's so funny. Well, it seemed to work, right? Let's, uh... let's not tell any of the others, yeah? Are you ready?"
Johnny gripped Tony's hand, and stepped forward onto the teleporter.

Tony waits, letting Johnny realize on his own and he offers the man a softer smirk that nearly borders a smile. His brows pull together and lift in not-quite pity.
"She's known for her pranks, don't take it too hard. 'Ego Sum' means 'I am' in this context. 'Credulus' is a bit more difficult to translate. It more or less means 'one who believes easily.'" He recites all of this as he follows Johnny, sounding like an older brother explaining a joke to his kid brother.
"You were saying, 'I am gullible.' Out of all of her pranks, it is perhaps the most kind one I have seen. I know she was cackling once about making some poor sap say 'For the Honor of Greyskull', but I never found out more about that."
Tony's smile slips into a frown as he looks down at his hand, watching as blue light coats them and then-
"I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, Dorthy." The words are funny in print, but Tony says them breathlessly. From the telepad, it is immediately obvious that they are in space with long, wide windows showing the vast emptiness surrounding their planet. His hand unconsciously squeezes Johnny's as Tony leaves the telepad and heads for a window.
There is a soft tone playing from his smartwatch, alerting him that his heart rate is getting too high, but he ignores it. No, the only thing that matters to him is getting to the nearest window and looking out at where Earth, his Earth, floats serenely below them. Tony's chest is tight and his breaths come out in little puffs. Excitement and a short walk seem to have exhausted him.
It doesn't matter. He presses his forehead to the window in child-like wonder. "Isn't she beautiful, Johnny?"

Johnny is quiet for a second, then he snorts a laugh. It's a funny trick, and he's glad that it's Tony Stark that saw the aftermath. There isn't time to think more about it, though, as the two of them are coated in blue light, and a second later-
"That view never gets old, Tony."
Johnny placed a hand on the man's shoulder, frailty and boney. It was then he noticed the breathing, the way Tony's shoulders rise and fall like empires, the noise from his wrist...
"Hey, man - are you okay? Do you need a seat? You don't look too hot."
Johnny looks around the space for a chair, or a sofa, or something. He feels a sudden surge of panic. Is this supposed to happen? Johnny puts his arm around the man's shoulders, his wizened frame.
"Listen, let's get you to the infirmary, okay? I can't be the first person to kill someone in the Watchtower! What's happened to you?"

Tony feels the hand on his shoulder and a little voice in the back of his mind scolds him for not shaking it off. His breath fogs the glass a bit as he stares down a the Eastern edge of Australia and the Pacific Ocean. God, he wishes more people could see the Earth from up here. Maybe there would be less war and strife.
"I'm. Fine." Each word is its own breath and Tony leans into the strong arm around his shoulders. It is only supposed to be for a second. A lopsided smile moves into place. "Missed. Cardio. Ha."
The alert on his watch is still going off when his eyes close. Tony knows he will regret this moment of weakness later, that he will scold himself for letting yet another person in on the secret. Right now? Right now, all he can think about is the way Barbara had smiled while talking about Johny.
Tony had referred to Babs and himself as moons and Johnny as a sun. Surely, surely, it will be alright to take just a little bit of that warmth for himself.
"You can't. Tell anyone," the man wheezes slightly, turning his head to look Storm in the eyes. "Sitting sounds. Nice. I'll explain. After."

"Yeah, Tony. Of course. Let's get you-"
Johnny helpes Tony to the infirmary. He is quiet, quite unlike him, just focusing on the task at hand. Babs showed him the way initially, and now he takes it on himself to remember the details of the route. Johnny gave Tony words of encouragement, as he has done with countless injured in his time as a hero. Not patronising, not panicky, but just normal words to help spur hmm along. His body is warm against Tony.
"Listen... I'm not going to tell anyone if you don't want me to. I've got my fair share of secrets that ill take to my grave. As much as people take me as a loud-mouthed idiot at times, I know when to keep my mouth shut."
They reached the infirmary, and Johnny helpes Tony through the door, glancing with concern at the man.
"And don't feel like you have to tell me anything. We joked, but... it's not like you know me personally. I'm a fan of yours, but not someone who'll pressure you into talking about something you don't want to talk about. So... let's just rest up here, and afterwards I can show you around. No deep conversations necessary. No secrets needed to be told. Just two guys enjoying the view."

It was indeed odd for the Watchtower medbay to be completely empty. It was protocol for at least one staff member to be on call (the robot, sadly, did not count). The two of them would have a couple moments to themselves before that reprieve came to an end. A tall, imposing man emerged from a back room, shaded by a row of medical curtains that were drawn back after he had parted through them. He was most certainly not dressed like a doctor - a billowing black cloak, including a form-fitting cowl that exposed his lower mouth, accompanied with a crescent moon insignia on the cowl's forehead and green-tinted lenses set against his eyes. Beneath the cloak was a bright-red tunic underneath with brass buttons and inlays, and black spandex leggings and boots completed the look of a man that would most certainly belong in a place like the Watchtower. The irony of that was not lost on him, a small joke to himself. However, the man maintained a stoic seriousness that betrayed no humor whatsoever. "Tony Stark? What are you..." There was a single pause before he clued into the nature of what was going on. The man moved quickly, his movements at ease within this space but no less attentive to the clear distress that Tony was in. He snapped his gloved fingers at Johnny, gesturing to a nearby gurney. There wasn't any time for introductions. The man took Tony into his arms with ease, waiting for Johnny to accommodate him. Once this was done, he quickly but carefully placed the man onto the bed, then moved about the room to gather medical equipment. He tapped the side of his temple a couple times, speaking under his breath. "Something's come up, dear. I'm going to be late." Again. He started to hook Tony up to machines for preliminary checks. "What happened? Did you find him like this?" He did not raise his head to Johnny, but it was clear who his questions were directed at.

Wildly, Tony thinks that they should have Johnny Storm do all of the P.A.'s for schools. There is something about the man that Tony is sure the kids would take to. Hell, he almost takes to the soft words of encouragement as he's led to the infirmary.
Tony shrugs out of his suit jacket as Johnny helps him into a chair, sweat beading his brow and along his shoulders. He knew wearing double layers was going to be an issue and this was the issue. He struggles to pull his hoodie over his head, anything to find relief from the heat. Tony's glasses are pulled off with the movement and sent tumbling to the ground.
"I know. You will," he says despite the ache in his chest. He's felt it before, but never quite this intense. Tony sags in his seat, looking so much older now that his hair is messy and he wears only a black ACDC shirt that clings to his damp skin. "Yer a good one."
Tony frowns at the slight slur even as he tries to roll the pain out of his shoulder. It only shoots down his left arm in response. Stark pulls in a breath and looks over at Johnny. His right-hand lifts to tap at his reactor.
"''m dying, Johnny. Secret."
Anything else he could have and would have offered is cut off by the sound of his own name. Unfocused brown eyes turn to Dr. Mid-Nite.
"Familiar," Tony says as his mind pulls up the impression of a hero in the same wanna-be Robinhood wear when he escaped from that damned cave. It is a testament to how sick he is that Stark does not fight the arms lifting him up and off of his chair. A frown creases his brow as Tony closes his eyes. "Dizzy."
All the while, his smart watch continues to whine softly in the background.

"Secret. Of course."
Johnny got to his feet when the doctor entered. He hadn't met this member of the Justice League yet, but he had an aura about him which clicked with Johnny. He did as the doctor said, and then gripped Tony's hand from the side of the gurney.
"Jeeze man, you're on fire. Here..."
He cooled the air around Tony, making it far more comfortable. Johnny looked at the doctor with a frown.
"I found him by the Los Angeles telepad, but he started to fail when we got up here... is he okay, doc? He said he was waiting for B- Oracle."
Johnny looked down at Tony, eyes full of earnest pleading. Please don't let him kill his hero after only just setting meeting him.
"C'mon, Tony. Hang in there, alright?"
