An endless, black ocean, each point of light twinkling against the murky portrait in Vee's mind. It was a strange calm, as if she was floating underwater, taking all of this in. The light pouring forth was not ordinary light by any means. She could feel it, coursing through her like that thing in her wrist, as familiar as an alien thing could feel. For whatever reason, there was no sun to be seen in this space; the collective sea of lights was more than enough to illuminate and warm this place. Whether Vee tried to move toward them or not, some of the points of light grew larger while others dimmed, bringing her frame of reference into closer view with them. This process continued for what felt like dragged on for hours, until there was only one point of alien light in focus. It grew larger, and brighter, until it was the size of a planet. It did not look like a planet, but strangely like a mis-shapen rock, like an overgrown asteroid. It was no less beautiful, shining with colors that were even beyond Vee's imagination, yet somehow made sense under this context. More of its light began to seep through its shape, until finally there was a CRACK!
Whatever dreams Vee may or may not have been having in her bed was thrown into her subconscious, pushing her attention to the world of the living by one of her bedposts finally giving way after being ignored for too long. It didn't entirely shear off, but it had apparently been enough to jar her awake. The process of awakening continued, from the mid-morning daylight burning a hole through the plaster next to Vee's head to the all-too familiar wakeup jam of Vee's roommate that could be heard through the walls. In a way, it was insurance. So were the repetitive slams against her door. Lulu's rough-and-tumble accent came through loud and clear, along with her charming impatience. "Hey, Sleeping Beauty! Are we going or not?"

Vee woke with a start. "Hm! Mn...? Aw, fuck," came the first sounds of her own that morning, as she turned to see the big crack creeping out from behind her mattress - smack dab in the middle of a bedpost. Rolling herself so quickly out of bed she practically vaulted, panic and adrenaline overwhelmed the sleep still in her bones and any potential vertigo as she inspected the damage. Shit, that was a problem. Fixable, but replaceable might be the better call. It'd have to last a few more days, because today was not-The knocking and yell came, and this time when Vee stood up quickly her head did swim a bit. She brought her hands up to rub the exhaustion from her face while wobbling in place. "Yeah! Ahem- Yeah. I overslept, gimme ten and I'll have my shit together." she called out, massaging various facial pressure points - it was about the same as a band-aid for a hangover, but changing her point of attack would wake her up more quickly. She made a beeline for the bathroom, barely remembering to grab her phone on the way and beginning her morning routine. Well, she looked like shit. Water and makeup would have to take care of that; quick fixes were the name of the game today. While splashing her face, she suddenly remembered... that there was something about her dream she really should remember. Her wrist pulsed uncomfortably. "Uggghhhh," she savored herself an outward groan instead of keeping it politely inside, rubbing circles around the gem embedded there. If the privacy of her bathroom walls could judge her, then she supposed this was what they deserved. Wasn't sure who they'd pissed off to become the wrong kind of walls, though. After making herself look semi-presentable, she threw on the first outfit she could find that was suitable for these kinds of things. Mask? Check. Kick-ass boots, aka Boots Specifically for Kicking Ass? Check. Bracelet? Check. Checking herself one more time in the mirror, she made one last sweep of her hair, made a small face at herself, and then opened the door and stepped into the living area. It'd taken her eleven minutes.
