7 years ago, Edith was wanted for a little bit of time wanted for her own "murder" and as a possible alien invader around the time of the battle in New York, though a press statement a few weeks later on from SWORD stated she was only a witness to an event. Around the same time, Edith had been duking it out on the streets to keep herself from going crazy, gaining some street cred and social media notice as "Silver Girl". Edith wouldn't get international recognition until she took on her current name Astraea, about 5 years ago. Known to almost appear just as a disaster is about to strike or before an initial call was sent out asking for help.

Powers/Abilities:
Human/Alien Probe Hybrid: Fused at the molecular level, Edith's body is mix of synthetic with organic signatures, her form still based on human structure. While she is human shaped, she is not constrained by it. Each cell in her body generates energy via sources at the nano scale, despite this her body can still process oxygen and organic matter as if she was still a regular human. All of this is owed to the genius of the probe's intelligence in redesigning her body even though it only had seconds to with in order to preserve Edith's life.
Weaknesses: No longer having a thick protective shell like the probe, Edith is vulnerable to electromagnetic extremes which can render her motionless and even unconscious to a point where her body will not repair damage. Her body is ferromagnetic so she can be affected by magnets. Magic is a foreign concept to her despite having it explained to her, its unpredictable nature leaves her no way to effectively counter it. Being exposed to excess gore or grotesque imagery may cause her to vomit or even faint.
Weapons/Items:
Situational Tool Generator: Programable smart matter, it doesn't matter what manner of bolt or obstacle is in the way, a tool can be generated and adapt to the situation.
"Quasar" Cannons: Generated by emitters in Edith's hands, she can release brilliant bursts or beams of blue/white energy. Originally the probe's way of dealing with asteroids, drilling for core samples or dealing with attackers, Edith uses it at a significantly lower power level that mostly comes out as infrared and microwaves. This creates a tangible plasma when hitting air molecules, giving even a small burst a bit of physicality to it.
Appearance
Image:
Physical Appearance:
On the surface, she appears to be a normal human, though she had to change her appearance a bit to avoid some trouble, she has since kept said changes. Edith used to have short dusty blonde hair, but she now sports long dark hair. Although she could have changed them, she kept her eyes the same striking blue color she was born with. She may have made a few changes to her figure when she learned she had the ability to shift a bit, keeping her regular body slender with a fairly average curvature to her body, though she may had padded some areas while keeping others tight. Like her old body, she still has light amount of muscle from playing sports and staying active. She is 5'8" in her non-hero shape.
When Edith is in need of the full extent of her new body's power, it can only be used by decompression of the artificial muscles fibers, giving them the room to flex and expand in order to produce superhuman levels of strength. This process makes her grow a fair bit larger at 6'2". She takes the liberty of making herself a bit more exaggerated figure wise, though keeping it in line with the same size as her apparent muscle size.
Clothing and Armor:
Her civilian attire is fairly stylish to a degree. Edith prefers jeans and shorts over skirts as they're not flight friendly. She wears shirts, blouses, tanktops, sometimes mixing things up with a loose t-shirt over a tanktop, she isn't afraid to show off her stomach and hips.
Edith's superhero costume is a two piece set, having a silvery white, cobalt blue and black color scheme. While she could have it simply be a single layer that appears to be multiple layers, she does this in order to make it more realistic and also provide some manner of protection.
Edith's top is composed of a few layers, it begins with a white long sleeve crop top that exposes her abdomen. Over this are her blue fingerless gloves and tank top that fits over her chest. A thicker black padded material fits over her chest as well as separate small sections of her upper and lower arm. White armored sections fit over the center of the chest, shoulder and around her neck. It had a hooded mask that has a face and top cutout, allowing her lower face and hair to be exposed, the mask fits mainly over her forehead and eyes. Around the mask's eye section is black while the actual eyes themselves glow blue when worn.
The bottom portion of Edith's suit is white lowcut pants with sections of black padding around her waist line, thighs and shins which lead into boots of a similar material. Around the knees is a thick layer of blue material, while armored white knee paddling similar to her shoulders fits over it.
In extreme environments such as space, she will conceals her midriff with a layer of the white material, essential turning her outfit into a joined bodysuit. A similar process covers her fingers while an armored white enclosure covers the exposed parts of her head.
Her OLD costume was a completely enclosed bodysuit, bulky in appearance with a lot of padding. Silver during the day and an almost black like grey color at night. It had a helmet with a screen that had a reactive emoji like face. She stopped using this about 4 years ago when she took on the Astraea name.
Personality
Sexual Orientation:
Bi-sexual.
General Personality:
Edith despite growing up in a rural shithole in West Virginia was always curious about the world, nature, space, how things worked. Its why in her civilian life she wants to possibly become a xenobiologist or something along those lines. Despite her academic aspirations, she would never give up the superhero lifestyle. Stopping people from being hurt or traumatized is a priceless task that she could provide, a bonus for her because she enjoys it and all the effort it takes. Its against her nature to want to hurt someone, even if they are a "bad guy", offering to at least lend an ear or her brain to their problems. Though when faced up against an actual evil incarnate being she isn't afraid to take the kid gloves off and bust them up. While good natured to a point, she has a streak of cynical attitude towards certain topics, when backed by her logic and research it can make her downright stubborn.
She was always a bit of a free spirit even as a child, playing with the boys in the deep woods of West Virginia instead of falling into the typical stereotypes for girls and young women. Edith rebelled against the idea that she would forever be trapped in her small town, either eventually forced to marry a local and bear his children or become a wreck like the two motherly figures in her life. She hates the idea that people are doomed to a fate or destiny, unable to escape a plan, genetics or their intended purpose. Edith believes that everyone has the right to live freely and in peace, as well as have their voice heard by someone. Fear, desperation, hunger and addiction can drive people to act out irrationally, while she isn't the touchy feely type, Edith will listen and possibly try to help someone in need.
On a more casual level Edith loves sports, especially soccer. Having played for years and even considered it a means to possibly escape town before she was changed. Since her change, her curiosity about things has exponentially increased, always keeping up to date on the latest scientific breakthroughs or experimental theories. Suffice to say she can come across as a nerd if ends up in a conversation about a topic she's interested in. Even though Edith has become quite advanced in her intellectual advances and growth as a person that wants to not just protect but understand people, she still gets nauseous over gore and viscera.

Cathy (Alive)

Other Family:
[Grandmother] Wilma (Alive)
History:
[Country Roads]
Born to a single mother and local waitress Cathy Morrison who lived with her own mother Wilma, Edith never knew who her daddy was. Most folks figured it was a drifter who rolled through town, stayed for 2 days, saw the sights and woo-ed more than a few women before taking off on a motorcycle for parts unknown. Due to her rather rural town's lack of institutions, Edith was an adventurous and tomboyish girl, often hanging out with the boys in the woods. She was always curious about nature, how things worked, looking up into the stars and wondering what was up there. Whenever the woman was sober, Edith would convince her grandmother to drive her into one of the bigger towns to pick up some books that the town library didn't have, dreaming of leaving town one day. Though at every opportunity, most people would laugh and shut down her dreams of leaving town. Even her own family put her down, even getting borderline abusive that she had the audacity to abandon them. It crushed Edith, making her increasingly cynical as she grew older. Due to a black mold infestation at the junior high school, Edith and the rest of the town's children were forced to attend other schools in the area.
The one Edith ended up being sent to due to her grades was full of kids mostly from the suburbs, who saw Edith as a bit of a hick. Although she would make friends, she made just as many enemies when she began to stand up for herself. More than twice a month she would find herself butting heads with some yuppie trying to show off, Edith got through mostly unscathed academically, but her grandmother would hit her with a board for being unladylike. When she was old enough, she started taking shifts alongside her mother at the diner, having to endure all sorts of sexual harassment from men of the town or travelers at 16... she needed to money to get the hell out of this place. She tried to take up meditation to keep down her stress, though watching the stars on clear nights was equally as calming. One night when she was an open clearing, she even saw a shooting star. It looked like it was fairly large, almost like it was getting closer...
[Contact]
Made by some civilization eons ago, it was one of many interstellar probes meant to catalogue all lifeforms in the cosmos, make contact with civilizations if it came across them. Designed with the ability to adapt to any environment, any situation to preserve its mission. It had long since lost contact with its creators, either by distance or existence. This probe in particular had weathered awesome cosmic phenomenon up close, attacks by space going civilizations, crossed paths with galactic entities, witnessed the birth or death of life of hundreds of species. As far as it knew, it was the last of its kind, simply on a loop at this point, so it began checking up on an area of space it had taken notice of several million years ago. When the probe drew closer, it took note of primitive radio waves, certain radiation signatures... signs that intelligence had sprouted in one of the star systems it had visited long ago. It was so eager to physically survey or even make contact with this new civilization that it had forgotten how large its form had gotten over its life time of adapting to the universe's hazards. It crash landed just outside of an area that had a low density of the planet's current dominant lifeforms, bipedal mammals.
As the probe gazed over the landscape and took the initial sensor readings, it immediately shook in horror as sensed a lifeform in close proximity. In its carelessness, it had killed one of the lifeforms it sought to make contact with, a young female of the species. Seeing this hurt the sentient probe, physically and mentally, but relented when it noticed that its victim was still alive albeit on the verge of death. The probe wasn't a doctor, it wasn't designed to repair flesh. It performed emergency repairs on the lifeform, but it readings determined that it wasn't enough. Knowing that allowing any life to come to harm would be frowned upon by its ancient creators, the probe chose to sacrifice its own existence to save the life of some random bystander who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Simply replacing parts with machine ones wasn't enough, it had to fuse with the girl's body at the molecular level, mixing organic and synthetic. The probe's spark of intelligence it had gained over the years of exploration had been extinguished, but it was satisfied that it had righted a wrong.
[Edith 2.0]
Edith snapped awake, laid out at the bottom of a strange divot in the ground, almost like a crater. She was covered in blood, her clothing torn. She leapt backwards out of reaction, but found herself sudden catapulted through the air and straight into a tree. Startled, she realized how far she had just been thrown... or did she jump? Edith tested her theory and let herself fall to the ground, a landing that should have broken something in her body. Edith could feel a strange sensation about herself, confused as to why she woke up in a crater. On returning to the crater, she encountered the local sheriff who immediately noticed the blood and state of her clothing. He knew something was amiss and drew his weapon. Confused, Edith backed off, only to start floating away. With increased tensions due to what happened in New York, everyone had been on edge about aliens, so it wasn't really surprising that the sheriff took a shot at her. Edith shielded herself, feeling the bullet impact but not in the way she expected. The smashed round, fell to the ground, only leaving a slight mark on her skin where it had struck her. The situation quickly escalated when the deputy radioed in the problem. Edith continued to back off, still not sure what was going.
Things got hectic when the call went to a higher authority, bringing in reinforcements, helicopters, using satellites. Edith could almost hear all of the extra radio chatter, an eye from space watching her. In almost a thought, she inadvertently jammed both as she found a place to hide. In fact, all of her senses were extra sensitive, the things she could see and hear so clearly, but were so far away. With her house swarming with cops and whatever else had shown up, Edith managed to find her way to the next best thing, her friend Octavia's house. Octavia managed to fill in the gaps, that it was being put out that Edith was an alien or something, but seeing how panicked Edith was she figured that wasn't the case. In a montage of tests in the safety of Octavia's house, they did figure out that Edith had been changed. They did everything short of shooting Edith with an actual gun. When the feds or whatever was after Edith came door to door, Octavia told her about a place in New York, an online friend's place that was currently vacant. Edith experimented with disguises, but found herself able to change without need of a wig or anything. It was enough to throw off any suspicion as she hiked out of town, later managing to hitch a ride to Pittsburg in Pennsylvania. Edith would experiment with her abilities along the way, flying for short distances, playing with her appearance, testing out how strong she was. By the time she actually got to New York City, Edith realized how serious things had gotten. It had turned into a multi-state manhunt, the fact she got this far was incredible.
[With Great Power]
Edith made it to the apartment, using the code Octavia gave her to get in. She immediately passed out on the bed, sleeping for the first time in what felt like a week. After sleeping and showering, Edith scavenged up some food from the fridge, though she hadn't really felt that hungry since her change. On the TV, almost all the news agencies were putting out reports on Edith, that she was a person of great interest in an alien encounter. After 3 days, she got a little cabin fever and picked the apartment owner's closet for any clothes that might fit, though as she was figuring it out, her skin suddenly split from her body and formed a copy of the clothing she was looking it. The clothing was alive, part of her, but different. She played around with it for a few hours, shaping her "clothing" into various designer brands of clothing she found off of social media. Satisfied with her NYC camouflage, Edith ventured out for the first time. She was a tourist in the big apple, trying to visit all the big landmarks. Edith even was bold enough to fly up on top of some of the skyscrapers for a view of the city. As she was wandering around at night, she encountered some of the more interesting characters of the city. Someone was actually trying to mug her. Edith snatched the gun out of his hand and flexed her muscles, crushing it like it was made of clay. Watching the mugger piss himself was satisfying, as he tried to run Edith threw the weapon at his leg with enough velocity to knock him over. It was enough commotion to draw attention, eventually causing the police to investigate.
Edith was far enough away to witness the event, feeling a little bit of a thrill, especially after learning on the news the next day that the guy was a felon who just got out of prison. To keep herself entertained while everything blew over, she would don an all black outfit and stalk the rooftops at night, a silver one during the day. Mostly she stopped petty crimes or other mugging, though as she understood her powers more and more, Edith began to tap the police radio bands. There was a fire, one of the older apartment buildings had people trapped on the upper floors. Edith could detect where the survivors were and sprang into action. She saved all of the people that would have otherwise perished in the inferno, when bringing them down, a few people snapped pictures or took video. She became a hit on social media and was even featured on the morning news. Her exposure drew the attention of all the news outlets and the police. It didn't take long to connect the dots that this vigilante character was operating day and night, as Edith was merely changing colors of her costume. During one of her patrols, someone managed to stop and ask her questions, Edith was genuine and sincere enough in her responses that she avoided being labeled less of a what a vigilante typically ended up in the public eye when the video was posted up.

[Expanding Universe]
One of the first things Edith asked in exchange was to be free of her family, emancipating herself with some help before settling in to a modest house just outside of New York. She would attend high school to maintain some semblance of normality in her life, though the classes became too easy to her with how differently her brain worked. As the knowledge stockpiled, Edith would often get flashes of information and insight from what was left of the probe. She began to see mundane things in a different light, push the envelope of what she thought could be possible. Though aside from her classes at school, Edith did put in a lot of time at her job. Rogue soviet era weapon satellites, monolithes, UFOs and even alien bikers. While she wasn't restricted from doing so, Edith did still put some work on the streets. But at that point, people were all asking the same question... who are you? Edith had to do a deep dive mentally, even managing to get some interns at SWORD involved before coming up with something. The probe was ancient, probably godlike in its wisdom having traveled the cosmos for uncountable ages... she was one with it now. Thus came her superhero name, Astraea.
While stopping crime on the street level was satisfying mixed with whatever SWORD stuff Edith got caught up in, as Astraea she began to branch out. Using her semi-mechanical nature, she developed a sort of way to listen to the planet using satellites of all sorts, it was a noisy endeavor that required some concentration to focus on a single event. Astraea essentially went international, popping up on almost every continent as far as her body would allow her to travel. In crossing the world, she would come into contact with Planetary, trying to put away something ancient that had been unearthed by an authoritarian country. She would exchanged information with their members after helping put the ancient thing back where it came from, occasionally getting invites for social stuff or calls for aid. When she finally graduated high school and was looking for more purpose in life, Edith was directed towards the Champions.

All of this is owed to the genius of the probe's intelligence in redesigning her body even though it only had seconds to with in order to preserve Edith's life.
- Adjustable Structure: Edith has a slender female frame normally, while in this state she cannot utilize most of her abilities. She can morph her physical structure as needed, looking more muscular or in her words "superhero like". She can alter her cosmetic appearance as well, though not enough to become another person, she often does this in lieu of caking her face with makeup.
- Strength Factor: Edith has precise control over her body's immense strength, while she can easily lift a car or even punch through a slab of metal... most of the time she has it limited to human levels, not wanting to hurt anyone or damage something by accident.
- Durability Scale: While her outward human skin and appearance is a bit less fragile than a regular human's, the many layers of material underneath are not. Like the probe, her structure can endure the intense environment of space, extremes. However, extreme electromagnetic fields, kinetic forces ranging on the extreme and exotic particles can disrupt the harder machine parts of her.
- System Regeneration: Edith's body can work in harmony at the cellular level, damage that has pierced through or ripped open her body would begin to quickly mend and stitch itself back together so long as the cells weren't actually destroyed. Severed limbs and parts can simply be reattached or reintegrated into the main body.
- Antigravity Drive: Edith can defy gravity, allowing her to float around as if she was weightless, fly at high speeds or even appear to walk on surfaces that might seem impossible to do so.
- Probe Sensors: All of Edith's normal senses have been enhanced with technology. She could hear a dust mite scurrying on concrete a hundred feet away, see things miles away or in orbit, even detect things that wouldn't otherwise be found by contemporary Earth technology. By mixing her technology with mediation, Edith can listen to all of Earth's satellites but has to focus on a single voice among thousands to sometimes find anything of noteworthiness.
- Database: While most of the Probe's sentience and information was lost in the effort to preserve Edith's life, certain keywords or stimuli might trigger a lost file, giving Edith insight on something she might not otherwise know. It does however allow her to remember almost everything she sees or hears, letting her playback any memory she's made.
- Universal Translator: Language, written characters, grunts, screeches and even physical signs can be interrupted by Edith as part of the probe's anthropological programing. Contemporary Earth languages are simple, but older ones that have fallen out of use or have few examples of writing may require study and effort. Cosmically, if Edith is provided with enough materials, she can begin a basis for understanding an alien language. Despite her great ability, anything pertaining to magic or demonology is gibberish to her even with a tutor or actual translation.
[Caged]
She did eventually have to move on from the cushy apartment, its owner having come back from abroad. It was after a few days of operating from an abandoned building that Edith realized she didn't need to consume food, she had just been doing so out of habit. She had been having such a blast playing superhero, Edith forgot she was on the run from the law. Having tracked some form of energy signature left at the crash site, Edith who was sleeping peacefully at the time suddenly snapped awake just in time to have been hit with a powerful electromagnetic pulse, causing her body to go completely limp. Unable to fight back, she was hauled away out onto the street and into a van. Edith would wake up on the floor of a cold featureless room, save for some vents and lights. Not even a bed, toilet or sink. A sizable collar was on her neck, Edith tugged on it, but realized she could detect the components inside, it was designed to deliver a localized EMP. Being trapped in the featureless room made her anxious, as she looked around her vision changed and it was like she could suddenly see cables and things behind the walls. Her eyes wandered until she found a camera, that's when they made contact with her.
Edith was interrogated, asked what she was doing on Earth, what her intentions were. Confused, Edith stated she was a Human being and didn't understand why she was being hunted. To her horror, one of the walls suddenly became a screen, Edith was subjected to all the videos of scientists cutting into her body to reveal the inner mechanical looking nature, like she wasn't a living breathing thing. The voice then asked her if that's what a Human looked like on the inside, almost challenging her to explain herself. Though Edith who was always a bit queasy on medical stuff, proceeded to vomit on the floor before feeling herself over for where they cut her open, breaking down and crying. Realizing that a vast error was made, Edith was quickly moved to a less bleak room, face to face with people instead of being treated like some kind of monster. She cooperated with every question, test and task. Edith figured that they might believe that she didn't know why she was like this, but they were also seeing how dangerous she could be. It wasn't until a week into her captivity that the absence of Edith's heroic antics was felt on social media, her captors connected the dots and offered her a deal. They figured if she was genuine about wanting to be a hero, that she could apply herself to aiding SWORD.
