Name: Luca Isolde (ɪˈzoʊl də) Rommelia Rosenrot
Gender: Female
Race: Quincy
Canon/OC: OC
Visual Appearance:
Physical Description: Isolde stands at the averagely small height of 5’0”, and in a petite frame at that. Her pure white hair is cut to a short, face-framing layered bob with soft, carefully crafted bangs. Her features are rather petite as well, a small mouth and pointed nose, but sharp in contrast to the rest of her crafted image. Her striking yellow eyes at the most prominent feature with this trait. Snow-white eyelashes and brows serve to soften this somewhat, but her eyes are noticeable and can betray the innocent facade when they alight as she calculates with lightning-speed what responses will best suit the image she wishes to convey.
Clothing/Misc.Items: Isolde most often wears the quincy standard full white garb, but with her own style imposed on it. Typically in a sundress or similar, she prefers to exude a charming and demure femininity. Thin white cotton, lace, and chiffon, taken in at the waist; flats (and occasionally short heels) to accentuate her small stature. With a slip underneath, of course. She wasn’t the Apostle of Harlots. Though she presents the modesty expected of a member of the Church, she is far from the modesty of a nun, with the majority of her skirts landing above the knee and the necklines exposing her collarbone. She makes use of this youthful appearance being “shocking” to most of the clergy to sneakily get her way and feigns innocence all the while. She is the picture of a modern Child of God. In fact, one can usually tell how recently she’s been scolded and how harshly by how modestly she’s dressed on any given day. She'll occasionally wear hints of the Quincy blue, but more often she prefers all-white ensembles.
She has her Quincy Cross of Lilies on her person at all times.
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Goals: To ascend to Sainthood.
General Personality:
Endearing Points: Naive, Cute, Charming, Ambitious, Perceptive, Intelligent, Goal-oriented
Isolde is particularly skilled at endearing others to her. Whether magically or through her personal skills, she can come across how she wishes to when she puts in the effort. In reality, a lot of what people see of Isolde's good points are in there, but there is much past that surface. She takes advantage of her youthful appearance, so people forget there is an intelligent, ambitious, and clever young woman in there as well. She deals heavily in the world of facade, typically for practical reasons in the field. It's always been more than just her work. Furthermore, she does care deeply for certain others around her - she's just choosy about who that is. She doesn't give her true affection easily, and the difference can be obvious to those paying enough attention.
Annoying points: Brat, Rude, Selfish, Ambitious, Liar, Vain, Cunning, Narrow-minded, Stuck-up
Isolde is, first and foremost, a brat. Behind the sweet girl persona, she is selfish and cunning. Her ambitions run the route of obsession, and she is ruthless in her pursuit of what she wants. Catholic morality seems a far ways off if it comes between her and her ultimate goals. Even our Heavenly Father knew that sacrifices must be made, after all. And He forgives all, so why must she feel any guilt in the path He has laid before her? Isolde often sets her sights so narrowly that she forgets to stop and think if her goal appears close enough. On top of this, she was raised mostly isolated from others, and those around her always put her up on a pedestal. So, she now believes that above others is where she belongs.
History: Isolde always knew she was going to be great. After all, she’d been raised as nothing less.
As a multi-generational quincy family, the vast majority of her ancestors were killed by Shinigami long ago. Had it not been for the grace of the church, the Rosenrots would have lost everything, and her mother and father would have been destitute on the streets when their only child was finally born. She was beautiful from birth, and delicate in spite of pre-maturity. She had her share of health problems, but through the grace of God, was seen through and became healthy and capable. Because of these problems, Isolde was kept in isolation from anyone other than her parents and the priests that oversaw her daily blessings.
When she eventually joined those of her age group in Quincy training, it was discovered her reishi was off the charts, and she rose quickly through the ranks of study. She also wasn’t half bad at combat, using her reishi to fuel what she lacked in typical strength. As she grew and received praise through her private teachers and sometimes even publicly from the priests, so grew her pride and consequently her boredom. What amounted to simple magic tricks for her were met with such arduous praise and admiration, that she soon began to want to do something actually worth such praise. Something fantastic. In the images and stories she’d seen all her life, and finally in seeing a Saint at full power, she found her wish, her life’s ambition. Isolde wanted to fly.
Not as a trick of her magical prowess, but as a testament to her ability and dedication. She wanted to be a Saint. She wanted to fly with real wings and be seen doing so. To be admired for it. Isolde had always been raised to care after her appearance, and had done well in enhancing the beauty she was granted naturally. She had a particular talent for Glamours and obfuscation, which she used to trick her maids into escaping home when she was younger and too fragile to live in the catacombs. But with this newfound ambition, her work ethic grew tenfold, her results following suit.
Her proudest achievement remains her false wings, grandiose shows of light that act as close to winglike as she could manage to create. She can now summon these without much effort at all, and after her first flight test showing off her magnum opus she was rewarded with her new title as the Apostle of Idolatry. Idolatry and Iconography were not seen as sins within the Catholic Church, as icons were said to be manifestations of the real thing, as opposed to cheap imitation. She could not have asked for a greater honor. And with it, her power only grew, able to call upon summons of her favored biblical creature, the Angel, to aid her in battle and give her time to cast spells against a relentless opponent. Though she’s perfectly able to get her hands dirty, she doesn’t like to show people that side of her.
Faction: The Holy See
Rank: Apostle of Idolatry
Physical Abilities: Surprisingly, Isolde is more of an aggressive fighter than she lets on. Her spells are mostly out of combat use, or support or debuff in purpose, with some basic combat-enhancing skills like Blut. Her preferred range weapon is of course her bow, which she can shoot multiple arrows and energy bursts from, but it splits into her preferred close combat weapon - bladed tonfa. She also has half-gauntlets with clawed knuckle rings. Though she used to be fragile, the only fragility that remains is a facade that she prefers to show. She loves when an opponent underestimates her, as it allows her to catch them off guard with the sheer force she employs in battle.
Quincy Spells:
As the Apostle of the Saint of Bastards, she was required to learn many spells, but she mostly prefers to use spells of her own creation than the ones that have been shoved down her throat by the cantankerous, pompous old man Saint. She can use many, if not all of her standard spells without chant, but the chant empowers the spell.
Blut
“Azazel - God Strengthens!”
By making Reishi flow directly into their blood vessels, users of this technique can drastically increase their attack and defense power to inhuman levels, though not at the same time. Isolde typically focuses on offense unless she is retreating, so she often uses this spell at the beginning of combat. Her chant calls to the fallen angel Azazel, whose name means “God Strengthens.”
Seele Schneider
“Zaphiel - Ruler of Cherubim, lend me your Holy Arrow, and Strike True.”
Her main attack spell besides Blut and Ginto, Isolde’s Seele Schneider manifests as her tonfa armblades from when she splits her bow. She uses Seele Schneider to enhance her blade’s lethality, and for powerful arrow attacks. Her chant calls to Zaphiel, angel ruler of the cherubim. The primary weapon of all cherubim is the bow and arrow.
“The Seele Schneider is a weapon much like a chainsaw, with Reishi making 3 million round trips per second around the edge of the blade. The vibrations of the Seele Schneider are not just for cutting. Through its vibrations, the Seele Schneider loosens the bonds between the Reishi of whatever it cuts in order to make them easier to capture. The Quincy fight by gathering the surrounding Reishi and using them as their own personal weapon and the most powerful manifestation of that is the Seele Schneider. The Seele Schneider is not a sword, but an arrow.
Anhäufer (German for "Gatherer"): The Seele Schneider's second ability is to collect Reishi during combat by absorbing the opponent's attacks. The more Reiatsu and Reiryoku they release, the more powerful the Quincy wielding it becomes. Effectively, it allows an opponent's Reishi to become the user's.
Sword & Arrow Functionality: Since a physical high-speed impact can be destroyed by a spiritual high-speed impact, the Seele Schneider can do more damage to someone physically strong when they physically attack than when using a spirit-based attack. It mainly cuts through Reiatsu impacts. The Seele Schneider makes for a powerful blade in combat but can do even more damage as an arrow. The lethality of the Seele Schneider at full power depends not on its power, but the arrow's trajectory.”
Hirenkyaku
“Rahatiel - Run, my Prince”
“Hirenkyaku (Pure Flying Step) is an advanced Quincy movement technique, allowing the user to move at high speed by riding on the flow of Reishi created below their feet.”
Isolde makes use of Hirenkyaku fairly often for increased movement speed and to flash step around her opponents in the hopes of catching them off-guard. It’s a much faster and less taxing method than Shadow, but because of that it can be more easily detected by the enemy, as well as not being pure teleportation meaning she can be caught in the space between. Her chant calls to Rahatiel, angel prince of the constellations, whose name means “to run.”
Shadow
“Mephistopheles - He who loves not the Light. Malphas, help me fly in Shadow.”
“Shadow, or Shadows, is a teleportation skill used by Quincy. The user’s shadow expands and becomes a doorway between dimensions, including one’s inner world.”
The shadows can grow quite large and move large groups through them, but it does require the presence of already existing shadows, so Isolde is much more likely to use Hirenkyaku in normal circumstances as she sometimes uses extreme amounts of light to disorient and temporarily blind her opponents. Her chant calls to Mephistopheles and Malphas, two darker fallen angels. Malphas takes the form of a Crow.
Vernähen
“Temperance, elixir of life. Vapula, lend me your Needle.”
German for “to stitch,” Vernähen is a healing spell created by the Rosenrot family, employing the technique of reishi regeneration. A Quincy absorbs reishi into their body like a sponge and transforms the matter to use their other abilities, this one uses it to stitch up wounds and replace lost cells. This works particularly effectively to close open wounds on short notice, and with more time as a replacement for blood transfusion in a pinch. This can also be used in the form of a Ginto, which is when she typically calls to Temperance, angel of the elixir of life. Her chant calls also calls to the fallen angel Vapula, who rules over the teaching of handicrafts, science, and philosophy.
Ginto
“Gintō (Silver Tubes) are small containers which Quincy use to store their Reiryoku. They are utilized as components in Quincy spellcasting.”
Heizen
"(Haizen; German for "Heating", Japanese for "Sacred Bite") Instantly gouges and purges whatever is enclosed in the space within the four tossed gintō. It is tremendously effective even against a Menos Grande.”
Nuriel - an angel in Jewish mythology, translates as "Fire of the Lord" and is the angel responsible for hailstorms.
Gritz
"A film of Reishi emitted from a thrown Gintō surrounds the enemy.”
Asariel – “whom God has bound;” rules the moon. “The constrainer”
Wolke
"(German for "Cloud") Cushions the impact of a fall with Reiryoku contained inside a Gintō.”
Saciel - “covering of God”
Sprenger
"(German for "Explosion") This technique uses five Seele Schneiders to create a pentagon-shaped seal which, when activated, causes a massive explosion within its borders.”
Azrael – archangel of death, name for the angel of destruction.
Holy Aspect: Isolde is particularly skilled at Illusion, Conjuration, and Summoning Magic. Therefore, her Holy Aspect is a combination of the three: Illusions so perfect they gain tangibility and as near to life of their own as possible. Though this only lasts a limited time, which varies depending on the strength of the Summon, they emit great power within that limit. The illusion itself can be summoned with little effort, it’s the conjuration and summoning elements that grow the complexity and can leave her exhausted if she blows too much in a short time. Further, only one can be tangible at a time, but she can summon multiple as illusions for intimidation tactics. Though she calls them Summons, this is to make them sound like more than they are. They are based in actual theological figures, but it is unclear whether Isolde herself is aware that they are merely illusory Idols of her own creation, as opposed to the “real thing.”
The technical aspect behind this is using reishi to create the illusions out of the light it emits, piece by piece, and with enough reishi and power they take on the tangible light quality of their arrows and modified ransentengai to form tangibility in whatever shape she needs. She can control which parts are illusions to the most minute detail, though she sometimes doesn't have the energy to make them more than image, or just enough to strike against her foes with a Summon's weapon.
Summons:
Andrealphus – fallen angel who can transform humans into birds.
Her pride and joy, her first Summon, takes the form of Isolde’s wings.
Archangels in Anglican tradition: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel
Michael - the great archangel whose name means “who is as God.” Michael is a pure combatant, and intimidation tactic. He is great and mighty, cutting through foes with his sword of legend, depicted with him in almost every image that exists of him.
Gabriel - the trumpeteer angel. Gabriel is not a fighter, but a distraction agent. His trumpet is deafeningly loud and can be heard for miles. It can also serve as an alternative to Quincy Hollow bait, but she rarely uses him this way. Nevertheless, the sounds attract friend and foe as well as incapacitating her present enemies.
Raphael - great archangel whose name means “the shining one who heals.” This is her strongest healing, she calls a manifestation of Raphael to aid in her healing. This emits a great amount of light and takes much of her energy, but the effects are superb.
Uriel - the great archangel whose name means “God is my Light.” This dazzling light disorients and potentially temporarily blinds foes (potentially with help from Samael, an evil Fallen angel whose name means “the Blind God,” or Morael angel of awe)
Seraphiel - leader of the Seraphim, she is larger than many of her summons, standing at 12 feet tall. She appears, golden and dazzling, with her mighty spear, ready to command or join the fray herself. She is also the most armored angel, solidifying her role as one of the strongest combatants Isolde has to offer.
Remiel & Rogziel - Angels of Judgement Day, representing God’s mercy & wrath, respectively. As the twin angels, they appear exactly the same, but one only shields and the other only strikes. Remiel carries a shield as big as his body (about 8 feet tall), and Rogziel carries a spear of comparable size.
Puriel - purifying fire, only burns the impure. An angel of punishment. This summon can cause huge fires that spare the innocent or allies to Isolde's eyes. In an explosion of flame, she can choose what her fire burns or spares, if she has the energy to make this exceptionally powerful spell more than illusion.
Raziel - leader of Thrones, guardian of secrets, shield and a space impassable by outside spy forces, a safe dome for secrets to be shared. It can also be used as a shield against attacks, but the main purpose of this guardian angel is to provide a space for subterfuge. She may also call on Amitiel, angel of truth, to ensure no lies are to pass within the safety of Raziel’s walls, or at least that all lies be known. To strengthen the shield portion of the spell, she calls on Sachiel, whose name means: “Covering of God.” Furthermore, this Summon only works on solid ground and is immobile, but immensely effective in defense against prying eyes and ears.
Belial – deceptively beautiful fallen angel whose name means “without worth.” This summon acts more like a standard spell, and is Isolde’s bread and butter in the outside world. It can allow her to disguise herself as someone else very easily.
Dumah – angel of silence. This Summon can silence her enemies, causing them to be unable to use abilities that require Chants or sounds. This often also Silences her own team, so she uses it sparingly.
Misc. Items: Isolde has a few items that she uses to enhance her combat. Her bracers and claws help with shooting stamina and hand-to-hand combat respectively. She also carries a ceremonial knife in a design she favors, though she doesn't tend to need this. Lastly, she carries smoke grenades for when her magic is depleted and she needs to make an escape.
Quincy Cross:
The Rosenrot Family Cross
Her Cross of Lillies she keeps with her at all times
Her favored necklace, also a Cross of Lillies
Her actual Quincy Cross
Isolde carries many crosses that she is particularly attached to, but the one tied to her Helig Bogen is the most representative of her abilities. It sports a fairly simple design, a golden cross with an arrow-like point and sprouting silver wings. She wears this on a longer chain, typically hidden beneath her clothes. When she summons her Helig Bogen, she snaps the charm off her neck, and it appears to transform into the bow. It is, deceptively, the most simply designed jewelry she owns.
Helig Bogen:
Isolde's Quincy bow is simple enough in style and use, until it reveals its gimmick. Her bow is sharpened on the sides, and splits in the middle with a charge of reiatsu to become two bladed tonfa, or armblades. These are her primary weapons besides her bow and Holy Aspect, and she prefers them because they provide a berserker style that fuels her adrenaline (and Blut), while giving her an easy switch between offensive and defensive stances that doesn't leave the relatively small girl open to more physically powerful opponents' attacks.
