Physical Description: Hell Manti are insectoid monsters that stand at a respectable 1,83 meters of height, with common features including a slim exoskeletal structure, a terrifying, mantid visage, and a variety of weapon-like appendages which they use to slice their prey up with. This particular monster adds to the decrepit reputation of its species with a glinting, purple scythe that seems to reflect light only at its whims, as well as an unusual, functional hand with opposable thumbs. Besides its wings, this monster has two additional, fully prehensible costa that end in sharp edges to further assail its prey with
Abilities
Physical Powers
Chimeric Proboscis (Limbs): The revenant does not waste time to eat, and instead devours its victims alive. Its claws, talons, spikes, fangs, knees, elbows, and scythe all secrete a dissolving agent that can process and absorb flesh and blood in a single stroke, shining with a purple glint when they're primed to strike. Its scythe holds by far the deadliest concentration of this liquid, making it capable of cleaving through steel with a clean strike.
Flight Spectrum (Wings): While they look tattered, the revenant's wings are fully functional. In addition, they can emit sounds in myriads of frequencies, some of which are inaudible or misleading to human ears.
Feedback (Body): The revenant has no ears, instead, its entire body is capable to reacting to sonic stimuli. It can listen normally through any part of its body, and with the help of their wings, they are also capable of a short-range echolocation to scout their surroundings
Spiritual Powers
The Revenant: Hell Manti are notoriously frail creatures. Any trained soldier that gets a good hit in can slice them in twain. The revenant is no exception to this rule, which is harrowingly telling. This monster does not need to be in one piece to survive, all of its limbs can operate independently even if cut or destroyed, twitching with mystic energy and lunging to move and attack. Independent limbs can still syphon and store mystic energy to expedite the healing process, be it by reattaching limbs or creating new ones. A single arm left to feed with a human corpse could eventually reconstruct the monster from scratch. With their entire body being ancillary to is survival, the revenant cannot feel pain. While the revenant can move without its entire body, it still needs some part of it to operate efficiently. It still needs its head to see, and its wings to emit the frequencies required for the rest of their body to locate its targets. Without them, its body would be left to flail desperately in search of substenance until it expired
Death Note: Regular Hell Manti can produce sounds that can be heard by their kin further away than they can communicate naturally. These sounds are inoffensive and inaudible to humans, the revenant takes offense to the former. Channeling mystic energy into its wings, the revenant can launch a pinpoint, quasi-imperceptible beam of ultrasonic noise. While it causes no audible discomfort, extended exposure quickly causes nausea, loss of balance, hearing loss, and eventual full-body distress. While the attack itself cannot be heard or seen, it causes the creature's wings to shine with a purple glow, signaling something is afoot. The strain the vibration put on the creature's body means that it must be grounded and that it can hardly move while executing it
Slayway: The revenant's scythe shines with each dreadful strike, but dodging it doesn't means that it's missed. Swings from the monster's scythe weapon leave behind a thin trail of purple energy that linger in the air, visible only to the creature or through great perception of mystic energies. At the creature's command, it can beckon the energy to spark in the same direction, causing an echoing ethereal slash where it already had struck. The energy reproduces the strike in the exact same way, length and speed that the scythe traveled, which means that while a caligraphically long trail of energy is possible, it would be inefficient. The strikes only linger in the space where the revenant attacked, and not where it struck; actually hitting the target won't mark them for death
--Important Information--
Personality: The revenant mantis is a curious creature, in constant dissatisfaction with itself and its kin, fueled by hunger and inediquacy alike. Pragmatic and cunning, it understand the effect it and is uncanny abilities have on humans, and will exploit any advantage and consume any prey, even monsterkind, in order to fulfill some distant, guttural goal.
Strengths: There is an air of confidence that surrounds the monster once it's committed to a decision, no matter how immediately wrong they're proven about their assessment. Once their mind is set, they do, or they die.
Weaknesses: The revenant keeps a scratch tally in its chest of what it considers 'flawless' hunts, and is dissatisfied when it fails to fulfill its lofty expectations, proceeding to scrub it clean every time they fall short of them.

History: "Mantis Chow" is an Ixian expression meaning "Cheapskate"
For their imposing name, hideous appearance, and gruesome scenes they leave in their wake, Hell Manti are hardly dangerous monsters, as long as you too are dangerous. Largely opportunistic ambush predators that very rarely hunt in packs, these insects are known to be cowardly, skittish, and not entirely smart, rarely ever attacking human groups and often fleeing where the slightest resistance is presented. If you're attacked by one of them, either you or the monster made a fatal error in judgment that day. That being said, they're still brutal creatures that thrive in fear and surprise, and the sight of them tearing open fellow soldiers like tuna cans can make competent warriors turn tail and run from a winnable fight, perhaps a less dread-inspiring moniker is overdue. Regardless, the nocelty of their tactics ran dry years ago, and every day, this insect plague seems to be less frequent.
This is why the idea that a Hell Mantis is the culprit for the increasingly frequent disappearances occurring in the city's outskirts is unthinkable. There are no gory remains, no horror stories from shell-shocked survivors, just abandoned caravans devoid of life. Such is the tale of a predator that grew tired of the cowardice on its own kin, and preyed upon them as they fled to grow into what it is now, a nameless rumor that leaves naught in jts wake, preying on humans and their hubris until they remember why they should, in fact, fear once in a while.
