Background:
It is said that deep underground lies a cavernous network of tunnels, belonging to an ancient kingdom of insectoid creatures, a self-sustainable colony that thrives beyond reason. The myths speak of no small amount of far-flung rumors of what exists inside, of magical crystals able to bestow sentience to lesser creatures, of the ruins of ancient civilizations that have been subsumed by these invasive species, or of plans to eventually invade the outside world. One of those myths ended up being true, however, the existence of panacea-like honey that could heal any and all ailments. So, when an excavation team accidentally stumbled upon a hive-like structure containing this thick, golden liquid, they realized they had struck gold, and only after they were done, realized that they might have started a war. Either way, they managed to abscond with the liquid unhindered and unfound.
The nameless queen of the Colony, a Superior Hornet well in her 'reign' (rather, the continued, unending management of the colony), caught wind of this breach in a few hours. Her knowledge of the surface was tenuous at best, as she hardly had time to bother with it, but now that they had gotten to them first, it was now at the foremost of her interests. Her court magicians scried the surface through the eyes of their primitive brethren, painting a picture of a bright, vivid, vulnerable world, ripe for the taking, and so, in but a few weeks of laser-focused toil, the queen had an entourage prepared, groomed a regent, had a tunnel crafted, and had one of those very fancy dresses tailored. She marched to the outside world with a regiment of drone soldiers towards Buster City.
And sued for damages to the tune of billions
The Hornet now known as "Vesper" already had plenty on her plate, and thus had no interest in expanding her dominion when the inhabitants of this realm so willingly trade their favors and goods in exchange for her colony's refuse. After long, due processes regarding cultural exchanges and economical logistics, Vesper became the founder of Dominion Ltd, an exports company that has started to dip its tarsi into other aspects of the competitive market.
While she has hardly had any difficulties acclimating to the complex life at the negotiating tables, Vesper spends every free second of her life gawking at the city's bright attractions, enjoying life in a way that she only ever so slightly could've before, and who's about to hold her accountable?
Appearance
Profile:
Description: Vesper belongs to a race of insects bestowed with great gifts from excessive contact with mystical leylines. As the current dedicated hornet ruler of her realm, she stands at a much meager 1,82 meters of height. Her chitinous, golden body ends in two pairs of softer arms, while wider evolved insect legs and the ballast of her stinger accomodate for antropomorphy. Having thoroughly researched positions of power for her grand entrance, Vesper wears elegant suits reminiscent of ancient rulers and legends.
Abilities
Gear
The Dominion Slate: A golden, sacred object with inscriptions that enable Vesper to issue commands to her Dominion from afar, therefore, a glorified smartphone. It also now has an actual smartphone grafted on the back
The Dominion Cepter: Vesper's will requires little to no movement of her part, as such, she carries a golden cepter topped with an amber diamond which she uses to accentuate her body language for the ease of the unusual endoskeletal creatures of the surface
Abilities:
Ruler of the Dominion: As the fated ruler of an insect horde, Vesper holds unbendable authority over the Superiors and uses them to do her bidding. While only a small percentage of her subjects accompany her, she holds enough control to be able to maintain an entire corporation almost entirely on their cithinous backs. Common insects also beckon her call, and those are much more expedient and numerous in Buster City
Arcane Acumen: The Superiors are magical in nature, and thus hold some sort of latent power that they rarely tap. Their Ruler is, of course, expected to be deft in its manipulation
Dust And Air: The two largest concern of an underground colony is air flow and ground stability, and thus it is no coincidence that a lot of their practical magic revolves about the manipulation of air and earth. Vesper was hardly ever the one that had to do the heavylifting when it came to managing the Colony's airflow, but until the overworlders introduced her to the concept of fidget objects, practicing was the easiest way of keeping her hands busy. Vesper is capable of precisely directing airflow, allowing her to weaponize dust, powder, and other small substances to blind to-be attackers
Vassal Language: For all their biological and arcane developments, Superior Insects cannot speak, and instead use other means of communications, such as antenae movement or body language. A very simple sorcery allows Vesper to enable any individual to properly translate hers and her Dominion's intentions, a gift that she can take away at will.
Flight: Vesper's wings are surprisingly functional, and when physiology and physics might fail, magic does the rest.
Royal Honey: It is said that the honey of the Ruler of the Dominion is capable of cleansing all ailments and of restoring the dying to life, and well, there is always a sliver of truth in myth. The truth is that the Ruler of the Dominion posseses healing powers, and can bless the food of her kin to ensure that they thrive. Vesper perpetuates the myth that it only works on honey and other largely gross reprocessed foodstuff, mostly because it maintains a firm public image.
