Visual Appearance:

Physical Appearance: Jean is very short for his age, standing at exactly 5 feet on the dot. He has grey-ish blue, stormy eyes and jet black hair. His skin is snow white like the city he was born and raised in.

Clothing: Jean tends to dress very casually based on whatever the weather is. He prefers long sleeves, so even in warming locations he has thin long sleeves that breath well. A lot of his clothes are a bit big on him because he prefers baggy, comfortable clothing.

Personal Items: Aside from one bag of just basic supplies, he has an enter large bag filled with full sketch books and spiral notebooks (journals). The ones he is currently using is in a separate, small bag that Ancil carries for him.



Personal Information



General Personality: Jean is extremely shy and soft spoken. He wants to make friends but doesn’t really know how. He’s also extremely nervous and jumpy, and worries that people won’t put up with his condition; so despite wanting to make friends he’ll often avoid talking to people and just watch them from a far and sketch them.

Habits: Jean writes down everything. Its less of a habit and more of a necessity. He also likes to sketch people and pokemon.

Goal: Try to be independent. He wants to learn to travel and live on his own despite his disability.

History: Jean never knew his parents. He had been in the foster system for as long as he could remember. It was fine and well, though he never stayed in one place very long.



This only got worse when the accident happened. He was 10 years old, living in a large, nice house at the top of the mountains of Snowbell. He lived there with the homeowners and 4 other foster kids at the time. One night while the adults were out, the kids decided to have a test of courage in the outskirts of the city. This involved going through a large cave that supposedly was haunted. As the kids approached the saw an Absol, which they took as an omen that the place really was haunted so they got excited and rushed in. There weren’t any ghosts in the cave. There was a Beartic that was not happy to have its home invaded. The children scattered and screamed. The other four managed to escape and get back to the city. However, Jean was the slowest, and thus an easy target. The Beartic chased him until he ended up running right off a cliff that he hadn’t seen. He hit his head hard when he fell, and would have died if the Absol from before hadn’t found him buried in the snow and gotten him back to the city.



Jean was never the same after that. He suffered a serious head injury that caused him to have permanent short term memory loss. Whenever he goes to bed, he wakes up not remembering the previous day at all. He was taught by the nurses in the clinic to write down everything important as it happened so he could read it the following day. He also got really into drawing, as it seemed to help him retain some memories of people, places, and pokemon. It was also discovered that, while he could never remember the days themselves once they passed, he could start to memorize the notes he wrote and daily routines after reading/doing them every morning for a few months in a row as long as he didn’t skip a day.



He lived in the hospital for a year, getting used to his knew way of live. The Absol that had saved him ended up staying with him and helping to care for him, bringing him his notebook every morning and watching him read it to ensure he does so. He named the Absol Ancil, and it became his service pokemon. When he was released from the hospital, the staff also gifted him his Smeargle, Picasso.



Unfortunately, he started being moved from foster family to foster family even more frequently after that. No one was really sure how to help or look after him. Luckily, Ancil and Picasso were there to make sure he never got too confused or overwhelmed. As the foster system moved him throughout Kalos, he had a much easier time befriending pokemon than people. Pokemon didn’t judge him or get frustrated every time he forgot. They were patient with him and gave him time and space to get used to them. So when one of the foster families gave him some pokeballs as a welcoming gift when they took him in, he started collecting pokemon that he became particularly close with.



Now he is 17 years old. He never was able to find a place to call home, and knows that he is a burden to the people who take him in. So, he decided to take a risk. With Ancil always at his side, he was sure that he could travel just like any other trainer. He decided to make his way to Altair in hopes that he could learn to live completely independently and maybe meet some new people and pokemon along the way.
