The Warring Factions of Gryps Anti-Earth Union Group
Originally a peaceful political movement with the aim of reforming the Earth Federation government, the Anti-Earth Union Group is the main enemy of the Titans counter-insurgency unit. Comprised of dissatisfied colonists, Federation soldiers who denounced the Titans and even former Zeon soldiers who survived the One Year War, the AEUG is less of a standing army or elite unit like their foes but more of a ragtag force formed by those who would stand against the Titans. Their primary funding comes from powerful individuals in the private sector, most notably Anaheim Electronics, and as a result their headquarters are located within the lunar city of Granada. In fact, this very funding has lead their top leaders to be easily influenced by Anaheim Electronics despite the misgivings of many.
Though small when the conflict first began, the AEUG’s ranks quickly swelled as the Titans’ atrocities came to light with soldiers defecting from the Federation and citizens rallying to join their cause. In recent days, the AEUG has made enough inroads to stage an assault on what was believed to be the Titans’ headquarters in Jaburo, South America, one that ended in a failure that ultimately pushed the Federation to cede further authority to the Titans. To make matters worse, the leader of the AEUG, Blex Forer, was assassinated during a trip to the Federation capital of Dakar and leaving the mysterious Quattro Bajeena to take the reins of the organization. Despite these setbacks, the AEUG has proved itself to be a significant thorn in the Titans’ side and they have been ever watchful as Titan activity around the moon grows.
Titans
Headquartered at the Gryps II colony and lead by Admiral Jamitov Hymen and Captain Bask Om, the Titans are an elite counter-insurgency unit formed in the wake of the Delaz Conflict, with the mission of quelling the threat of the Zeon remnants and any who would rebel against the Federation. Unlike the AEUG, the Titans are a highly organized and trained military outfit, formed with the best and brightest of the Federation forces at its creation. With each success against rebel elements, the Titans have seen their authority grow and with it an ever growing stream of applicants seeking to join the prestigious elite.
However, the elite alone have proven to not be adequate for the Titans to defeat the AEUG and by August of U.C. 0087, the Federation Council granted them a mandate with the authority to requisition Federation assets at will and giving them seniority in all rebel incidents. With their authority exceeding the regular forces with a severe lack of oversight, the Titans are seemingly poised to bring their full might against the AEUG and others who would stand against them.
Axis Zeon
Commonly referred to as the ghosts of Zeon, the forces of Axis are similar to the Zeon Remnant most commonly encountered throughout the Earth Sphere in that they’re soldiers who refused the surrender at the end of the OYW. Their major difference lies in the fact that rather than stay and launch a guerilla war against their hated enemy, the soldiers of Axis fled to the far reaches of the Asteroid Belt beyond Mars and took shelter within the massive mining asteroid of Axis. Isolated from the conflicts plaguing the Earth Sphere since the war’s end, the men and women of Axis used whatever resources they fled with as well as those mined to build a newer, more powerful military and usher in the resurrection of the former ruling Zabi family, led by the sole heir, Mineva Lao Zabi.
Despite its stated goal being the resurrection of the Zabi family, there are those on Axis who believe that Mineva, being no more than a child, is merely a puppet for the regent of Axis, Haman Karn, and whatever personal ambitions she may nurture. In any case, the Axis Zeon are due to make their appearance in the Earth Sphere in no more than a month’s time and their arrival is set to shake-up the already tumultuous conflict between the Titans and AEUG even further. While the arrival of their main force has yet to occur,, Axis has already dispatched expeditionary forces in an effort to get a headstart on its plans and lay the groundwork for their rise to greatness.
