Servants
Class: Lancer
Alias: Caenus
True Name: Caenis
History:
A warrior and tyrant king who’s appeared in multiple stories of Greek mythology, the history of the Heroic Spirit known as Caenis is as complicated as it is varied, with each source providing some form of influence on their legend. Originally thought to have been from Thessaly region of Ancient Greece, the Caenis was originally one of the land’s most beautiful women and was content to keep to herself, frequently turning down would-be suitors. However, on one fateful day, she caught the eye of the God of the Seas himself. Once that happened…
What transpired need not be repeated, only that Caenis had been wronged by the Gods like so many others in the past and future. Uncaring of the how and why, the God of the Seas was nonetheless satisfied with themselves and so offered Caenis to grant whatever wish struck their fancy. So that the experience would never again be repeated, Caenis wished to be a man, a request that the Sea God granted without a second thought. Right then and there, the woman known as Caenis, had died, the Tyrant King Caenus born in their place.
From that moment onward, Caenus would go on to take their own role in numerous tales, appearing as one of Jason’s many Argonauts and even taking part in the hunt for the Calydonian Boar. However, during a war between the Lapithes and the Centaurs, Caenus would meet their end, the Centaurs burying them alive under numerous tree trunks and stones. And yet, even that is not the end of their tale as some accounts tell of them having descended to Tartarus, their female form regained after death while others spoke of a golden bird having took flight from beneath the pile, the body of the tyrant nowhere to be found…
Personality:
Noted to be incredibly violent and brash even while alive, Caenis doesn’t appear to be the tyrant king they were said to be at first glance. They are certainly belligerent and possess a short temper but have unexpectedly fine qualities such as strictly adhering to the Greek principle of hospitality, Xenia. Should one show generosity, she will do so in kind until the debt is repaid. Even if they were mildly annoyed, she would still banter idly, the act an amusing distraction from the matter at hand.
However, this doesn’t eliminate the reality that, despite manifesting as a Lancer, Caenis possesses enough anger and rage to qualify for the Avenger class. Should one ignite her rage, she truly becomes the tyrant king she was said to be in her life and there are many ways to do so. She despises the divine with her very being, all too aware of her own history. If one were to show her sympathy for her circumstances, once again, she will go into an uncontrollable rage. That she once suffered the very same as those she ruled over does not factor into the equation: Nothing will survive her wrath, not even her own master…
Weapon of choice: At all times, Caenis wields a white-gold spear and shield
Noble Phantasm:
Poseidon’t Blessing: Favor of the Sea God – Rank B (Anti-Unit) – A conceptual defense granted by the Sea God, Poseidon, when Caenis wished to be transformed into a man, it is Poseidon’s very own Trident. Defense and offense alike are boosted by the Sea God’s authority, turning what was a non-standout warrior (at least, compared to the other Argonauts at the time) into a sentient storm of violence. Should Caenis be on the very seas that were Poseidon’s domain, she would very well be immortal as the Trident’s blessings reach their greatest potency.
However, because said domain is far smaller in the modern world, this Phantasm cannot reach its full strength and provides only a modest boost as a result. Additionally, the Trident only appears as a single spear rather than the golden Trident and armor that symbolized Poseidon’s power. Just why this blessing was granted to Caenis is a mystery that only the Sea God himself can answer but whether it was recompense for the God’s actions or a cruel joke, the Tyrant King utilizes it to its fullest as a Servant.
Lapithae Caenus: Soar, My Great Golden Wings – Rank A (Anti-Army) – An Anti-Army Noble Phantasm formed by the anecdote that a great bird with golden wings flew from beneath the pile where Caenis was buried alive by the Centaurs. As a Phantasm, Caenis transforms into that same, golden bird and crashes into the enemy with her body, incinerating them with the flames that envelop her.
Poseidon Maestrom: God of the Sea, Rampaging Tidal Wave – Anti-Fortress (Rank EX) – A Noble Phantasm that pulverizes the opponent with the super-massive ocean currents. Already powerful on its own, the Phantasm’s strength skyrockets in situations above or underwater or if there is a large source of water in the area. It can be invoked and fired from the tip of her spear or through just shouting, the latter resulting in it being centralized on her location.
It is a reproduction of Poseidon’s Authority over the sea, albeit a limited one. Originally, it could be classified as an Anti-Nation Noble Phantasm but because Caenis is still a Heroic Spirit, attempting such a thing would result in her own self-destruction.
Skills:
Magic Resistance – Rank C – Cancels spells with a chant below two verses. Cannot defend against Greater Magecraft or Greater Rituals.
Madness Enhancement – Rank EX – A skill normally reserved for the Berserker-class, Caenis possesses a special Madness Enhancement in her manifestation as a Lancer. In control of all her faculties in normal circumstances, should her anger exceed a certain threshold, then she can no longer be reasoned with. At that point, not only is she capable of skewering her own Master but will actively seek to kill them, effectively ending her existence as a result.
Divine Core of the Sea God – Rank B – The Tyrant King was never truly divine but due to the grace of the Sea God Poseidon, Caenis possesses a pseudo-Divine Core, allowing her to approach the status of a Divine Spirit despite being being a Servant.
Monstrous Strength – Rank B+ - A skill that temporary increases the user’s strength, it is borne from their nature as a monster or Demonic Beast. As a Lapith, Caenis shares ancestry with the centaurs and can display feats of strength uncommon to man.
Spear of Pillaging – Rank B – A skill symbolizing the ferocity of Tyrant King’s rule. For every action taken by the Tyrant King, their next would only be worse for their people. As a Servant, each subsequent blow given would be stronger than the last while the opponents own would be dampened with each received. Though the surges and wanes of strength are temporary, a chain reaction can bring about a disastrous situation.
Physical appearance:
A lean and muscular woman with dark, brown skin and blue eyes, multiple red lines of magical runes run along her body. A pair of horse-like ears sit atop her head, sharing the same color as her short, white-hair.
Clothing and Armor:
Perhaps because of the self-assured confidence in her superiority over all others, Caenis wears very little armor, with only her legs, shoulders and right arm truly being covered. Outside of combat, she wears just as little to her Master’s displeasure, having gravitated towards a pair of denim hotpants and white, cropped-jacket with a black bikini underneath.
