Shinja saw with a sickening jolt to her stomach that, along with the strange looking NJPD member that had only just appeared, Kako too had vanished. Were her suspicions true? For a while now, Shinja had felt worry about her sister-friend. Ever since they had helped the NJPD, Kako's actions had seemed... un-hero like. As if she had something to hide, people to hide from. Now, ahead of the sirens, the girl had vanished. Shinja swallowed, fists clenched. Please let me be wrong...
So it was just her, Tanzo and Jet. She turned to Tanzo, pushing all of her worries behind her.
"I'm not leaving you to face them alone. We'll say we were meeting family in the area, heard the attack and came running. We just need to bluff our way through it."
She turned to Jet, with a frown. He hadn't run off... whatever these Vigilantes were doing with the NJPD, it seemed like some were more skittish than others. Still, she couldn't forget the bombshell he had dropped on her. If Kako's getting deeper involved with them... no, she couldn't think on that now. Deep breath. You're a Hero, Shinja. What you're doing isn't wrong... it's just going to take some convincing.
"We'll be fine. The police won't have any reason to believe we have anything to do with Jet, or the Villains who killed my grandfather."

"Then it's settled, we'll go with that story, fortunately dealing with a bunch of rich fucks all the time with my art career means I've become very good at lying to get people off my case" Tanzo said "it'll be fine. Let's just hope Kako and that Lola lady get away ok... and that Air Raid don't come back for another pass while the police and other innocents are still here."

Jets eyes bounced between the two. They had the resolve to carry on with this... He'd hoped this situation didn't get any worse. The sirens would closer and closer until they'd be the sole thing illuminating the dark country road. There were quite a few cars, but it was understandable given the circumstance. Men would fan out to take a look at the damage. The pummeling rain from the thunderstorm made quick work of the fire. Thunder crackled as there finally was a knock at the door. Jet would nod to the teens before opening the door.
"Sorry to disturb, but I'm sure the explosions have already done so." Off first impression, this cop was a smart ass. "My name is Sgt. Isaki and I'm going to be..." He took notice of the two hero students, one of which was the easily recognizable hometown hero Aeronaut. Curious... The other... he couldn't identify. "Identification please, misterrrrr." Jet would oblige with a fake id. "The name's Jet Jacobs. I came home just to do some maintenance on my old childhood home. Most people have moved out, but I just refuse to sell the memories away..."
At the very least the name on the address and the name on the ID seemed to match. There was some yelling in the background, mainly just the cops swarming the buildings looking for clues. There were no fatalities from the looks of things, but an unexplained explosion this far from town was worth raising eyebrows over. They weren't going anywhere anytime soon. "Hate to do this, Ms. Aeronaut, but I need proof of licensure from you... and identification from you big guy. Apologies, I'm just following procedure." He'd point to both Shinja and Tanzo. If a hero were on duty. He'd like to get their take on what happened over some civilians' word. The cop's eyes would trace the inside of the home from the door. If there was something fishy going on, he wanted to find out.
Jet looked back to the two students as the officer lent his hand out to receive proper documentation. In his free hand, he had a small tablet to fact-check who was who in his database. As rude as he was, the cop seemed to be a stickler for procedure. Jet stepped to the side, and almost instinctively the cop to a step closer. He'd let out a sigh as he finally got out of the rain. Jet wasn't trying to be a bad host or anything... but he DEFINITELY had shit to hide. Like he always did, he'd keep his composure and just try to let the situation play out.
In the distance, Kako and Lola sat under some trees to shield them from the down pour. With a worried expression, Kako held her own arm tight. Bolting like that through rain, sent a jolt right back into herself... This couldn't have been a worse situation... "We're too far, I can't see what's going on..." The woman would just stare at her and chuckle. Personally, the woman wanted to stay as far away from the police as possible.

"It's okay, I understand..."
Shinja wasn't rattled, not outwardly at least. She took out her provisional license, glanced at Tanzo, and handed it across to the officer.
"We're here on leave from U.A., visiting family. The two of us were in the neighbourhood when the explosions happened. We were hoping there wouldn't be any casualties, but Jet here seems to be the only living soul around."
Nothing she said was a lie, just a carefully ommited truth. Shinja held the man's gaze, and her expression showed that she was worried, but not fearful. She didn't show any amount of worry. Why should she? It wasn't like they were breaking the law. So far they were just following leads. Then, an idea came to her. Why not use the police as a form of information? She looked again at Tanzo, then at Jet, then turned back to Sergeant Isaka.
"There was something in the skies before the explosions occurred... it was almost like something above the clouds caused this. Officer... are there any villains active around here? We can't act as heroes, but if there's anything we can do to help... I know Tateyama doesn't have many pro-heroes to rely on."
She took a breath, feeling her heart beating fast.
"I have family here, whether they talk to me or not. If they're in danger, then, as a U.A. student and a soon-to-be pro-hero, I want to help as much as possible to stop them!"

Tanzo would also produce his provisional license for the officer "Like Shinja said, we happened to be in the area and came running when we heard the commotion." he said "it did look like the attack came from the air, but we weren't close enough to see much detail. Me and Shinja here are both provisional license holders though, we'd be glad to help look into this however we can. Anyone willing to bomb a random civilian neighborhood out of the blue like this needs to be found and stopped as soon as possible."
Much like Shinja, nothing Tanzo was saying was strictly false. Idly Tanzo lamented just how good he'd been getting at being deceptive like this... but it would do them good now as his body language didn't give anything away.

The officer would take each license to scan. Everything seemed to check out. He a swift eye, he was able to see the dining room. There were more plates than the number of people in attendance. Curious... Perhaps they were hiding after the explosion. These things were scary after all. It wasn't enough to raise any serious suspicion, however. Still, these heroes could prove to be valuable resources. The dark clouds whirled and poured, rain killing the remnants of any fire outside. The rumble of thunder would continue. The officer didn't like the story he was given, but it all checked out....
"I see. To answer your question, yes... there have been similar incidents of explosions, but they are not frequent at all. As it stands now, the person or persons is at large with no current suspects. " He pull out a map from his damp clothes. On it were Xs of other locations. There was a pattern of striking the outskirts of town, then from time to time hitting the electrical plant. "It's not much, but I'd like to bring you two to the station to show you the rest of the evidence. Both of you are apart of detective hero agencies. I'm sure you can connect dots where I can't see. " He looked at Jet with a concerned expression. "They rarely strike the same place in succession, I highly doubt any danger will come to you. "
Jet weakly chuckled and nodded. He had Tanzo's number. They could always reconvene when they got done. "I'm fine. Truly, don't worry."
The officer would lead the two heroes outside and into the elements. The storm was unforgiving. It would take a moment to empty out the back, but there was large enough truck for Tanzo to hop in. "Sorry about such an awkward transportation. We weren't exactly prepared for such a big person to ride along. We'll make sure to drive safely." Two officers would welcome him with a smile. Shinja would be able to hop in the squad car with Sgt Isaki.
In the distance, Kako watching with a loss for words. She was okay with being around Jet and Lola. Shinja had Tanzo so it was like she didn't have a backup. Both she and Lola wanted to make sure to keep their distance until the police ran off, each for their own reasons.

Shinja nodded at the officer, giving Tanzo a last look before she ducked into the car. She quickly sent a text to Kako, keeping her phone low and out of sight (stay safe, meet up later x) and slid it back into her pocket with a sigh of worry. The whole situation unsettled her. Not just the fact that the villains had attacked them, or that they seemed to have them targeted... but these Vigilantes. Jet, and that Lola. The fact that Kako and Tanzo had so easily called on them for help... and now she knew the story behind Jet, it made Shinja worry for her friends. Especially Kako, who seemed to be growing further and further away.
Shinja gripped her hands tight in her lap, frowning with worry and frustration. Why couldn't she do anything to help her? What caused the girl to head into the arms of these Vigilantes with such ease? As far as Shinja could tell, they all held a dark secret. Sure, Jet was nice on the surface, and he said he was truly sorry for what he had done... but had he ever atoned for his crimes? Or given himself up to the police for his involvement? As far as Shinja was concerned, he was still a criminal, and no matter how much he begged her for forgiveness she wouldn't accept it. Not until he took the true consequences of his crime.
Still, at this point she had no choice. Shinja shook her head, thoughts threatening to swamp her conciousness fleeing from her mind. She looked up at the officer entered the car, giving him a faint smile.
"I hope we can be of use, sir. The last thing I want is villains running amuck in my hometown."

Tanzo shook his head at the officer's apology for the awkward transportation "Believe me I'm used to it by now, I'll be fine" he said as he got in and settled in for the ride. He popped another metal pod in his mouth to smelt just in case though, he wanted to be ready for anything. He wasn't even sure how much he trusted the police here right now... from what they knew, team Air Raid had no business here other than the attack on them for digging into things... so why would they be striking random parts of town and the electrical plant? They were hitmen, not terrorists... there was no money in putting themselves at risk just to mess with some out of the way town.
So was this police force lying to them and bringing them into a trap? Or was there something else going on with Team Air Raid? Maybe he was just being paranoid... but after everything that had happened here and over the past year he'd rather be paranoid than off guard. Whatever threats reared their heads... it was his job to keep Shinja and Kako safe from them. He couldn't afford to relax or drop his guard, not even for an instant.

Some police cars stayed back just to make sure things were okay. A thick fog would roll in to add to the brewing storm. It was a night to stay home... but those thoughts would be far removed. Sgt. Isaki would turn to Shinja as he drove. "No, I hope we could be of help to you." His face bore concern. He knew of the records and what happened to her family. He was still in the academy but Aeronaut dying was a big deal for the town. He didn't like her being there. It wasn't safe... The speed of the car dropped as he flicked fog lights on to try and pierce through. The truck would follow the squad car's lead keeping a trustworthy distance. The two officers would hum along to the radio's music as if today were just an ordinary patrol. "Quiet kid ain't ya?" One officer said with a chuckle. "He doesn't know us, no shit he's quiet. He probably just wants a bed to sleep in after a long day. " The other laughed at him, turning the radio up more. "Well, you're a hero student right? Long nights are only gonna get more common. "There it was. The sound would become more distinct than all the prior times. One of the planes flew low and sped right over the cars to make a final pass at the residency. Within a few seconds, a huge explosion could be heard, and its rising flame was high enough to gift the fog a bright orange hue. "SHIT!" "HANG ON KID!" The roar of a plane engine was arriving from the rear and easily passing the vehicles. A large sphere would drop from it's belly, and erupt in another explosion. Causing both vehicles to veer! "Waiiiit!" Kako was being tightly pinned by Lola off in the distance. "I'm here to protect you, no way am I letting you kill yourself in that open field. Their out of my range and sights, and you'll only end up shocking yourself into a coma in this weather... Didn't anyone go over tactics with you?!?" The killer pointed to the flaming house. "Jet can survive that. All we gotta do is regroup, and get to your friends, kay? Don't forget the training we've taught you." Kako would reluctantly nod as the two would sprint through the brush to get a closer look at the house, and to see if they could get to their fellow vigilante. ____________________________ OOC: Time to split.
