General Information
Name: Morgan Baxter
Identity: Black Mantle
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Date of Birth: January 3rd
Place of Origin: Phoenix, Arizona, USA
Occupation: Student
Faction: U.A. High, Class 2-A
Appearance
Visual Appearance:
Physical Appearance: Despite appearing normal to the naked eye, Morgan typically uses her quirk's ability to change configuration and color, her Second Skin has been compressed into its defensive mode and its pigmentation matched to her porcelain skin. Generally regarded as attractive, she often scowls or has a practiced resting bitch face. Her blue eyes are cold and analyzing, her eye lids are typically half closed but shoot open when she gets irritated. Her jet-black hair is thick and somewhat wild, it goes slightly past her shoulder in the back in terms of length. Body wise, Morgan is 5'4" tall but weighs in around 200 pounds due to about 60 pounds of additional tissue hiding on her person. She has a toned athletic body from years of constant training. Morgan is somewhat shapely with a large bust, slender waist, wide hips and a toned butt that protrudes. When her quirk is balanced or in power mode, her body looks more stocky with larger muscles, in speed mode her legs get particularly beefy.
Civilian Clothes: Typically Morgan is comfortable in more sporty attire, often wearing clothing that is easy to slip out of or can adjust to changes. A t-shirt a size or two big, a sports bra, briefs and dark colored tights that can withstand the size her legs get in her speed mode.
Hero Outfit: Morgan's hero gear is a multi paneled bodysuit made of graphene based material thin enough for her quirk to filter through without the costume being transparent and a comm unit small enough to not interfere with her quirk. With Second Skin interlaced with the undersuit, she stylizes it to be a mixture of dark colors, muscles being imitated to be more gray in color while the majority of the suit is black. When it comes to covering her face she can simply fashion a classic domino mask, cover her entire head minus her eyes and mouth or completely seal the suit with a semi transparent membrane over her eyes.
Personality
Bad Habits: Morgan has a habit of being a bit spiny and not wanting to really open up to anyone. She can be a bit competive and slightly foul mouthed.
Goal: To be number one, not for her Father, but because she wants to succeed where he was a failure.
General Personality: Morgan is a bold and determined young woman with a bit of an ego. She wants to strive for the number one spot which was always out of her Father's grasp. She has the mindset that heroes should be held in high regard by the masses, but feared by villains and have somewhat of a rivalry with co-workers. Morgan doesn't like to show positivity or really let anyone get too close to her, even her own mother and sister. She doesn't like when adults or acquaintances step over the line to seem authority like, Morgan is quick to lash out when being ordered around or criticized.
She is not a touchy-feely person, often annoyed when people fawn on her loss or are too bubbly for their own good. Morgan isn't ashamed to mention who her asshole of a Dad is, but doesn't like when people try to feel sorry for her. She isn't necessarily that feminine either, coming off more as a tomboy as she enjoyed playing football with boys twice her size or even wrestling them. Morgan certainly isn't shy about nudity, although she is always covered in some part by her quirk so its a matter of perspective if she walks around without clothes. She can be a bit playful, often making tentacles or some type of body horror to creep out girls with weak constitutions or giving boys either friendly slap on the back or punch to the shoulder.
Personal Life
Mother:
Haley Baxter [Age 34], Alive.
[Quirk: Body Pigmentation] Haley's skin and hair while normal most of time can range into most of the visible spectrum like a chameleon. She never applied herself into mastering it, thus strong emotions often cause her to change colors. Not to mention if she ever thought about going pro she would need to either be naked or wearing a see-through costume.
Father:
Edward Moldavsky (aka the ex-vigilante hero Captain Symbiote), Deceased.
[Quirk: Symbiotic Biomass] Edward's quirk was essentially a living suit of armor that wrapped around him entirely that was an extension of his own body. By using it like a suit, it allowed him to stay professional for years longer than anyone else from his era.
Siblings:
Megan, Younger sister [Age 8], alive.
[Quirk: Hairstyle] Instead of normal hair sprouting from her head, Megan has strands of prehensile muscle like fibers similar to her father and sister's quirk. With a simple thought she can change its shape and thanks to her mother, its color. Watch out for when she suddenly makes it longer it out to use it for something, it can throw a mean hook.
Extended family: Several Half-Siblings
History: Edward Moldavsky aka Captain Symbiote was among the most widely known vigilantes to survive the transition to the pro-hero age. For years he was always in the top 25, later earning a somewhat permanent station in the top 10 after many in the old guard phased out in exchange for fresh faces. When he realized that he was getting up in years and hadn't even thought about marriage, he started to obsess with creating a legacy. Reports came out that quirks could be passed onto one's offspring, so he may have had his way with several women he encountered in his years as a hero. However these children did not end up inheriting anything remotely like his powers, even if they would later go on to become a hero of some renowned. He completely shut himself off from the world, not even answering his door when he stopped taking phone calls from the agency or opening his mail. It wouldn't be until years later when Haley Baxter, a young fan of Captain Symbiote broke into his home after several rumors of his death had circulated on the internet. She planned to find some sort of memorabilia to show that she had gone in, but when he was caught by her wearing a t-shirt that had gone long out of print, Edward revitalized his old plan. Instead of arresting the girl who literally turned colors on being caught, he laid on the charm and seduced his fan into a friendly relationship that lasted several months. It was then easy after that to manipulate her into becoming a mother of his child, offering to marry her if the child inherited his quirk, not disclosing his prior actions for fear of scaring his last chance off. Haley who was still starstruck and wanting to break free of an overbearing father agreed. 9 months later, Morgan was born with a mass of prehensile tissue fused to her body. Edward followed through with his agreement and wed the now 19-year old Haley who had also gotten a bit kinky after conceiving their daughter.
Edward patiently taught his daughter the basics of the quirk until she had a decent track record in the first few years of school. Haley who was now pregnant with a 2nd child, gave permission for him to be more direct in Morgan's training when she wasn't busy with school. At first it was simply games, tasks with a goal in which he would provide a candy for performing well. But as they progressed, it became more physical and he got much harder on her. Whenever she had a spare moment, Edward would have her use it to constantly lift heavy weights. As she got more wise to certain things he would throw her into situations that required the use of her powers such as putting her in the basement and then destroying the stairs. Haley was often too distracted by her 2nd bundle of joy Megan who had partially inherited something resembling his quirk with symbiotic like fibers instead of hair. He would probably train her just as hard if not harder, possibly make a sibling rivalry to inspire them to one-up each other in training. He didn't want to completely antagonize Morgan, so eventually he revealed his progeny to some of the hero community to show her what world she would be part of. Unfortunately for him, news of his previous children not to mention some of them being around quickly spoiled his plan. Morgan who had fostered some dislike from the constant training was now enraged. The way he had gone on about him and her mother's love being unique was crap. It didn't take long for the development to hit the media circuits and for Haley to learn about it. It cracked the bubble she had been living in, was she just the lucky one to have a kids with something resembling his quirk? The two had a serious talk but agreed to stay together for the sake of the children until she found an alternative living arrangement.
Edward despite being defeated still challenged Morgan, but mainly learned he was antagonizing her as she legitimately attacked him. He easily stopped her after a few punches were thrown, giving her pointers for next time which only made Morgan more angry. It wasn't until Morgan caught him off guard in one such encounter that he realized his error, he had created a spiteful child, her eyes burning with anger. He tried to have a legitimate dialogue with Morgan just as Megan was nearly the same age she was before starting his method of training. To which she responded, "If you touch my little sister like that, I'll fucking kill you." Then proceeded to escort her sister to first day of school. Edward lost himself after realizing his utter failure, he became increasingly distant and often kept to himself with Morgan often gluing herself to Megan anytime their mother wasn't paying attention. Morgan maintained excellent grades at school and had her own personal training regime, even playing tackle football with boys from her school. But over the past few years she had developed somewhat of an attitude towards adults other than her mother telling her what to do when she felt like they were overreaching their authority. She often earned the ire of both the principal and her mother. It was only a few weeks into her 2nd year of middle school that she was called to the office, which surprised no one. Morgan merely assumed it had something to do with a teacher she told to fuck off because she was a distraction in class for the way she was using her quirk. The news wiped the smug grin off of her face, Morgan's father Edward Moldavsky at 74 years of age had died of a sudden heart attack. Many assumed her to be distraught over the loss, but she was more upset that she didn't get to really kick his slimy ass for real!
Fueled by the sudden drastic change in her life, Morgan became increasingly diligent on schoolwork and training, but as her last year of middle school was close to ending she hadn't yet picked a school to attend for hero courses. Although she was grinding her teeth the entire time... she begrudgingly sought the aid of her school's overly bubbly guidance councilor, a woman that stressed her out with how much energy she had. There were a few obvious choices, schools started by several people that had worked with her father, but Morgan quickly corrected that she wanted to get in on her own merits, she wanted to try for only the best there is. The woman's mood suddenly became more serious, to the point Morgan thought she had split personality before giving her two options. The top-tier academy in the United States, Excelsior or... she would have to travel across the Pacific to the land of Japan and attend U.A. High. Morgan scoffed a the mere mention of Excelsior, it was more for rich kids to learn how not to act more like a pretentious ass. She ended up applying for U.A. High, knowing full well that if she failed the entrance exam, she'd have to settle for a school full of snobs or suck up to someone her father knew. Morgan who had been born with her quirk and spent almost every waking moment playing with it and learning its ins and outs... with very few suggestions from her asshole dad... put her everything into the entrance exam. Waiting with baited breath at a hotel room she was staying at with her mother and sister. Morgan who seldom let any joy escape exploded when she got the acceptance letter, but quickly composed herself to begin arrangements for accommodations to live in Japan.
S2: Morgan trained endlessly to develop her various states of her quirk, sometimes ignoring social gatherings just to train. Eventually she achieved a level of proficiency that allowed her to shift the way she balances her power, speed and defense far easier than before. Not wanting to see like a lone wolf or something... she attended the little camping trip that traveled to Iwate.
Quirk
Name: Second Skin
Quirk Type: Mutant
Power: Morgan has a quirk similar to her father's with the exception she can change its color due to her mother's but doesn't have the ability to wear normal clothes under it. Bonded to her flesh is a prehensile mass that is normally black in color whose coverage of her primary body and appearance can be adjusted to encase herself completely like a suit or simply act as an additional appendage(s). Essentially it is a blob of tough muscle fibers thinner than human hair able to protect and enhance its host body like an exoskeleton. Its overall thickness and ability can be increased like any muscle through exercise and training.
Morgan can focus the concentration of her quirk, generally its abilities are balanced but it can be altered to mostly focus on defense, power, speed or a hybrid of the two. In theory there are 7 possible configurations, her ability balance would be to use a triangle between her 3 attributes with 3 configurations focused only on a single attribute at the cost of any benefits or the others, 3 hybrids configurations between the 3 attributes and her normal configuration balanced between the attributes with no clear strengths or weaknesses. This is not including the ability to make supplementary appendages such as another arm or multiple tentacles, bat like wings for flight or even form hardened weapons and tools. While Morgan can feel when it touches something through connected nerves, it is mostly an insulated mass that is somewhat resistant to temperature extremes and electrical currents. She typically keeps her Second Skin to match her normal skin tone and keeps it in Full Defense on a day to day basis.
Supermoves:
Morgan's standardized configuration, giving her about 30% power in all 3 focuses. It gives her enough speed, power and defense to deal with most situations.
[DEF Focus 100%] Morgan's maximum defense configuration, in this mode however she does not have any boost to her speed or strength. Her quirk can endure great amounts of damage, reacting to external stimuli by hardening or adapting to temperature extremes. It can reduce but not negate large amounts of kinetic energy, attempting to stop something such as a bullet uses a lot of stamina and may still draw blood.
[PWR Focus 100%]Morgan's maximum power configuration, in this mode she does not have any boost to her speed and her defense is minimal. Her quirk is geared fully into delivering high powered attacks and moving heavy objects. It is strong enough to deal damage to metal objects and using increased strength she can easily push a car onto its side.
[SPD Focus 100%]Morgan's maximum speed configuration, in this mode she does not have any boost to her strength or defense. Her reflexes and joints have been heightened to their best possible arrangement, allowing her to perform amazing feats of agility and superhuman running/parkour skills. She is able to run up to 60 miles per hour for a short period of time, but isn't optimal for her stamina out in the open as she could simply falcon dive with her wings from a higher altitude to intercept a target.
[SPD 50%][PWR 50%] Focused on speed and power, Morgan sees this form as ideal for situations where defense isn't needed and going full power or speed isn't enough. This form is ideal for combating an agile opponent in close quarters or using her power to boost her jumping ability.
[DEF 50%][PWR 50%] Focused on defense and power, Morgan sees this form as ideal for dealing with strong enemies who are intent on attacking her and don’t possess a great amount of speed. She can hit hard, but also take a hit if she needed to.
[SPD 50%][DEF 50%] Focused on speed and defense, Morgan uses this form less than her others. This form is more suited to escape or act as a decoy, to purposely take hits or draw attention away without taking the risk of purely focusing on speed.
Damocles: Morgan creates wings and flies to altitude of several hundred feet, she then forms a blade or blunt instrument on one of her arms. Using gravity in combination with a bird of prey like dive to give her incredible acceleration, she then uses the versatility of her quirk to deliver a powerful cut or blow against her intended target.
Drawbacks: Morgan's abilities are limited by the current size of the mass, while her balanced suit mode may make her better all around it won't help her deal with stronger foes. This would require her to sacrifice defense and speed in order to focus the mass into her arms for power attacks. A large drawback is that her quirk only works projecting from her skin and can only penetrate very thin clothing materials. It takes several seconds to adjust from one pure stance to another, while the hybrids can easily switch to her balanced stance or to one of their counterpart pure stances within 3-5 seconds depending on her stamina.
Fighting Style: Morgan is a brawler type, using her hands and feet to deal damage. Usually her balanced configuration of speed, power and defense performs well enough to accomplish what she needs. But when needed she will switch tactics, using defense for when her opponent counterattacks, using speed to evade attacks or close in or even power up her arms or an arm for a devastating blow. She can create membranes that allow her to form bat-like wings or a wingsuit for an additional angle in a battle.
