Physical Appearance: Karin is a refined beauty of a girl with pale skin and long light-pink hair tied at the sides of her head. She stands at a modest 5'2", with a very slender build and light but deliberate actions. Her most striking feature is her unusual tritone eyes, with golden pupils and irises that are crimson on the inside and indigo outside, like a setting sun. She carries a demure yet sophisticated demeanor, giving off the impression of nobility, though she is anything but. She wastes no motion in any of her movements, a habit carefully refined through her wealth of combat experience, which gives her movement a flowing, elegant feel.

Civilian Clothes: Karin tends to prefer flexible athletic wear ideal for ease of movement, usually in multiple layers. She can be commonly found wearing a white t-shirt and black leggings, underneath a slim navy jacket that zips up to her neck and a short silver skirt that provides a feminine appearance while retaining a range of motion for her legs. Perhaps her most identifying trait outside of her eyes, Karin has a unique deep blue hooded shawl cloak with several ornate patterns, particularly the large eye prints on the sides of the hood with shark teeth extending from the front of it. It also features several spiked strands extending from the cloth, two from the back of the hood, two from the front of the arm sleeves, and four at the bottom of the back. She also wears high-top track shoes almost akin to boots. Additionally, for colder weather, she has a long powder-blue winter coat with navy stripes. Karin can also clean up well, owning a variety of formal wear and various school uniforms.

Hero Outfit: Having helped design a second shawl for this outfit, Karin dons an intricately patterned bodysuit featuring a navy, magenta, and stone white color palette. It is well insulated and water resistant to maintain an appropriate body heat regardless of the external temperature, wind, or precipitation.




Personality

General Personality: Karin has a highly reserved and measured personality. Despite her young age, she presents herself in a poised, mature manner. When speaking, she often pauses to consider her words and talks in a quiet and steady voice. She treats others with respect and is always very polite. She does not often express her feelings in person, typically preferring to remain in the background. This does not mean she has a lack of confidence, rather, it is quite the opposite, but her calm nature lends itself more towards presenting like a girl who does not seem to be bothered or fazed by anything, which, given her past, provides the appearance of someone far more mature than her age. However, over virtual communications, Karin tends to show more excitement and energy than normal, meaning that she may feel shy when speaking. Karin is also a talented vocalist who uploads songs anonymously online, using music as a special method of venting her emotions that she does not, or lacks the capacity to, display anywhere else, helping her clear away any mental burdens. As a result, her passion is felt in her voice, and currently maintains a YouTube channel with approximately 800,000 subscribers despite never appearing once in person for a live event.

Goal: Karin is well aware that she is still young despite her occupations, and would like to spend the next arc of her life taking it slow and steady, learning more about the surface half of the world. She feels that her ability and experience have far exceeded what her growth as a person should have been, and does not want to end up being unable to catch up. That aside, it also serves as also a good opportunity for her to further polish what she can do, and help contribute meaningfully to society in a way that isn't just locked behind redactions and whispers.

Bad Habits: Karin's disconnect from ordinary life is almost painfully apparent in her daily social interactions. While her manners and patience are well beyond what's expected of youth these days, her personal definitions of normal are incongruent, and it can be difficult for her to talk with others. She often has to think about her words carefully before speaking, and often feels like an unapproachable entity, which she is not fond of.

History:

The first memory Karin had was waking up in a simple bed in a barren room. Raised in an unmarked facility, she and a handful of other children were trained from a young age how to control their quirks — unique, and potentially dangerous quirks. Parents? Families? Those weren't even concepts she understood until much later. At least there were adults here taking care of them, and from her perspective, there wasn't anything wrong with that. They were nice enough people, at least. It wasn't until her tenth birthday that things began to change. That was when the education curriculum took a sharp turn, and started to also include history lessons. Karin and the others were handpicked children to be entrusted to the Japanese Special Forces Group, promising individuals with great potential that would have otherwise been put up for adoption at an orphanage from parents that could not handle the responsibility of raising a child. And so it was to be, from a far-too-young age, that she was taught how to fight, and how to survive.

But, it was still strange. At the very least, when Karin was able to travel out into the rest of the country on missions from the SFG after years of unnatural training and physical conditioning, did she finally realize that nothing about her youth had been 'normal'. The lives of the public were a mystery to her. The fact that she could pass so many people on the streets, with the realization that each and every one of them had their own lives, and people around them, made her feel alienated. But strangely, it was also comforting, to know that she was just herself. Her problems belonged to no one else. The worries that she did not understand were things that she could just push off into the future, at least for now. The adults in the SFG were plenty competent themselves, so Karin made sure to make the most of her training and field work. Improvement was satisfying, after all. This dichotomy between her life and the lives of everyone else, however, was what sparked a curious growth in her maturity from an age far too young for such a girl.

In many of the places that she visited, there was a mystical thing called music. It was playing in many of the stores and other such places around Japan, of course. But, as a fairly sensitive individual due to the nature of her quirk, the sounds and rhythms had a striking effect on her emotions, more than she ever would have suspected her emotional capacity to consider. The songs and the words they expressed through it carried a meaning that felt easier to open up with. Karin turned out to have a knack for it, at the least. In her downtime between missions for the SFG, her idle thoughts, worries, and aspirations became something she could make tangible through a melody that carried the weight of emotions better than plain words could ever do. Most of this was simply in her head. It wasn't until the age of fourteen, about halfway through the period where she would have been in secondary school, where she had enough free time and autonomy from the SFG in order to pursue songwriting as a method of expressing her emotions in a way that she had difficulty with ordinarily. Finding an outlet for her pent-up troubles and concerns did wonders for the girl's mental health, despite living a far-from-normal life. It noticeably improved Karin's performance during special forces missions, allowing her to better clear her thoughts. Even if it didn't actually address her problems, being able to actualize them into a form she could understand gave her a form of self-expression. She decided to upload them onto a new channel online anonymously to keep records of her progress.

In the meantime, Karin's dreams of experiencing what a more normal life was like was about to become reality. With a sudden spike in villain activity, the demands of the professional hero organizations were becoming increasingly harder to meet. The pressure was mounting on both the pillars of society as well as the upcoming youth to become the next shining new generation of heroes to protect their citizens. With the Japanese Special Forces Group operating at a consistent level, they decided to transfer Karin to U.A. with the intent of having her join the ranks of the heroes, as an already-proven commodity to help improve the strength of the public defenders in the fight against villains. Karin was a bit nervous at the sudden shift from operating in the underbelly of society for most of her life to being thrust into the eye of the public. It also meant that she would no longer be allowed to use the military equipment and weaponry available to the SFG. However, this new assignment was not something for her to shy away from... not like she had much of a choice. She knew she was ready for whatever was asked of her physical talents, but learning how to integrate into society would be a more difficult and unique challenge.

After all, U.A. was not exactly 'normal' either, it was a place reserved for the pinnacle of aspiring heroes. If her presence could be of any use in helping this new generation — no, her generation — of heroes strive to be greater than any before them, Karin would be incredibly grateful to do so, even if she didn't quite know how. Perhaps that was the idea behind this transfer, or perhaps it was simply something beyond her current understanding. But if she did know one thing, it was that a sharp blade was best honed by others just like it. And for that, she was curious to see just what kind of other students awaited her.




Quirk

Name: Wind Shroud

Quirk Type: Emitter

Power: Karin's quirk, Wind Shroud, allows her to pressurize the air around herself at will, solidifying it into the likes of an invisible physical overbeing of condensed air expanding outwards from her body. Rather than an individual entity or creation, it is a field that exists around her form at an expanded size, and will replicate each and every movement she makes. This shroud of solidified air serves as both offense and defense equally, through physical force. Cutting and piercing attacks are more effective at attempting to break through the air pressure but without much of an effect if unsuccessful, while crushing attacks may still have an impact even when blocked. Attacking, such as punching with the Wind Shroud active, would result in a fist of pressurized air striking her target at a distance noticeably further away than the fist of Karin's physical body. The applied force of the shroud's air pressure can be used in a variety of ways through its mirroring of Karin's own actions, like cushioning a fall, remotely picking up objects, and more. The exterior of the Wind Shroud is mostly stable, but can be manipulated after it is established to prevent her movement from becoming too unwieldy. Usually, the field is thinnest at her feet, where as if it would appear that Karin would be levitating a few inches off the ground, although to her she would simply be standing on her own air. However, if she were to strike with a kick, expanding the size of the shroud at that moment would allow for increased range. The maximum distance from Karin's body that the shroud could expand is approximately 5 meters outwards, most often through her arms for ease of attacking.

Note: Air’s natural resistance to conductivity makes it nearly immune to electrical attacks while active.

Supermoves:

Hurricane Strike — By rapidly cycling the compressed air within Karin's Wind Shroud while expanding the size around either her arms or legs, she can unleash an extra powerful punching or kicking attack with heavy gyroscopic rotational force, giving it increased penetration power like a drill and scattering the target.

Jet Cannon — By concentrating on the compressed air beneath her feet, when Karin expands her Wind Shroud beneath her feet to maximum size, she can use the release of the air pressure beneath her combined with the growth of the shroud's physical size to assist in violently launching her a large distance depending on the angle of her jump.

Drawbacks:

• While ordinarily invisible, Wind Shroud is comprised of condensed air hard enough to replicate the surface of a solid. Free-flowing liquid such as rain can depict a clear illustration of the size of Karin's shroud, causing its range to be revealed if one keeps an eye on the outline.
• Additionally, it is still air, meaning that while it still may have incredibly strong striking force, immovable solids like walls are things the air of the shroud physically cannot move past on its own, and can restrict the maximum size of the shroud in such a capacity, especially when indoors.
• By pressurizing the air into a solid form, Wind Shroud also effectively creates an airtight safety space within its boundaries. This may help protect Karin, but it also limits her access to oxygen as she continues to breathe over time, and she must refresh her shroud every now and then to allow new air to cycle through her personal space [up to a maximum of 3 posts in a row, refreshing takes 1 post].
• Fire presents a tricky problem for her, as it may not be able to push through the wall of air on its own, but will consume the oxygen in the area, necessitating her escape within a time limit if surrounded.

Fighting Style: Overall, Karin operates as a quiet assassin with refined and highly skilled close combat fighting techniques. She makes use of her quirk in order to surprise opponents and attack them from distances they do not expect, with a threat they cannot see. Oftentimes, she is able to incapacitate enemies before they can understand what is even going on, through bludgeoning with ranged hand-to-hand combat, or ambushing them from out of sight. With extensive special forces training, Karin is also experienced in the use of combat knives and firearms, which she has forfeited the use of while she is acting as a hero. Her physical attributes are abnormal for a girl of her age and size, having exceptional speed and agility, and her quirkless attack techniques utilizing motion rivals the striking force of a trained adult male. Karin is also an expert in silent movement, well-experienced in stealth and infiltration missions. She does not push opportunities beyond their acceptable risk factor, and prioritizes withdrawing from uncertain situations unless the need is absolute. When combating an opponent with unknown qualities, if they are unable to be taken down through her initial methods, caution is taken so as not to expose her own strengths and weaknesses while trying to ascertain the enemy's. These principles of hers are only in regard for single combat and are not set in stone, as the presence of teammates causes her to adapt to the current given situation as warranted.
