The GuidesTable of ContentsWelcome to Buster CityThe RulesCharacter TemplateWelcome to a city where anything and everything is possible! Welcome to a city where all roads inevitably meet, across continents, worlds, universes, time, and dimensions yet imagined by the mortal eye! No one quite knows where Buster City is, or when it even began. No one still living in Buster City remembers when it was first created, whenever, however that might have been. Indeed, this place may always have been, as far as this understanding of reality was concerned. Those who haven’t already been a part of Buster City’s illustrious, enigmatic world find themselves there just the same, and quickly find their place in its ever-expanding, ever-evolving hierarchy. There is a place for anyone and everyone. ...whether they like it or not.

[ Table of ContentsWelcome to Buster CityThe RulesCharacter Template1. No power playing. Power playing is where you throw your character around as if they are the strongest in the room and never get hit or get affected in a thread, even if it may make sense for them to be (and if that is often the case, you may want to reassess your character relative to others). This doesn’t only apply to combat-involved characters: If your character is continuously unphased by the conflict that is going on in a thread while other players’ characters are being affected in their own way, you remove the stakes of that conflict, not only for yourself, but also for everyone else that is trying to interact with your character in these situations. Roleplaying is about giving and taking on all sides, and negotiating the space in those interactions. 2. No godmodding. Godmodding is when you begin to assume how other players’ characters react or are affected by what your character is doing in a thread. This can be as simple as not suggesting, but telling a player how their character is being affected by your character’s attack, to something more complex, such as incepting ideas into another player’s character on what is going on, when you have no agency over any character(s) but your own. There can be situations where godmodding and power playing go hand-in-hand, but sometimes it may be one or the other. Neither is allowed in this roleplay.3. Please be civil. Roleplaying may range from a serious to lackadaisical hobby for the many players that make up Buster City, and while tensions may get high with what is or isn’t at stake with people’s characters, remember that all of this is just for fun. Treat your fellow players with respect. No one wants to feel anxious over pretend writing. 4. Take initiative. Don’t be afraid to reach out to players with ideas of threads and even longer-term roleplaying scenarios to put your and their characters into. Buster City thrives on players seeking out and building their own stories. If you’re not sure what you would like to do with your character at times, brainstorming with other players can help bridge writing blocks and get the ball rolling. 5. Always use location tags when creating threads. Buster City is a unique roleplay in that it has no subforum locations. It is up to players to come up with locations in Buster City to use as settings for threads, whether these locations are meant as one-shot areas or a place that might become more relevant over time. Whenever you are creating a thread, right before the title, include a location in brackets, like this: [Jasmine House] A Dash of Venom. Be sure to give some description to the setting in the opening post so that the players involved have something to go off of as they continue to flesh out the scene with their own writing and character. 6. Character limit… None! There is no character limit! Go nuts! However, if I notice that you’re doing a lot more profile writing than actual roleplaying, I reserve the right to put a hold on your application process until you prove that you are able to be active with all of your characters. While I don’t want to get in the way of player initiative and creativity, I also want to make sure that players are using the characters that they have made. 7. Talk to a mod as the last resort. The mods are here to help, whenever you have a question or dispute that needs to be addressed. However, I strongly urge that you do what you can to try and resolve the issue among yourselves and your fellow players before you include a mod. Often times things that come up can be resolved among players without needing to involve a mod. If it gets to that point, however, please don’t hesitate to reach out to a mod. Be sure to be as detailed as possible, so that the mod has all of the necessary information and context to address your concerns. 8. Have fun! It’s what we’re all here for! Don’t take things too seriously, and I’m sure you’ll have a great time here!
