General Information
Name: Tarah, Thayne
Alias:
Age: 9, 9
Origin Game: Steamworld: Quest
Homeland: Wasteland
Faction: None
Gender: Female, Male
History: Legend speaks of a lustrous, metallic hero of yore, who managed to slay a monstrous engine of destruction, thus bringing peace and prosperity to the land. The creature's hideous heart was ripped from its chest, interred so that it never might be seen again, to save the world from its power. And so it did, but someone had to pay the price.
Folks speak of a forgotten city, surrounded by creaking, haunted woods, a place whose name was lost to history, a tainted land, plagued by horrors, overseen by lunatics, cursed to languish for sins it hadn't commited. This is where the Necronomicog was buried, and the ground itself makes no attempts to hide it. Living in a wasted, barren land, those who call The Cursed City their home are inevitably changed by it. The hostile energy fills them with arcane power, terrible energy to be unleashed. The hostile environment fills them with grim resolve and determination, the desire to survive at all cost.
The orphan twins Tarah and Thayne are two such individuals. For their short stature and age, they have endured no shortage of hardships in order to take care of each other. Perhaps one day, all their misdeeds will find a goal other than living to accomplish the next misdeed, but for until them, life must go on, misguided and malicious as it might be
Drive: There are fleeting dreams in the twins' minds, ridiculous what-ifs to ponder on should they even hit a windfall. Perhaps they could have the orphanage be repaired, perhaps they could tell the wacko druids at home to suck it and leave to a different orphanage (Is that even a thing?), perhaps they could just continue doing the things they do for fun because that's just their gist at this point. They believe they'll figure it out when they get there.

Visual Appearance: Tarah and Thayne are Steambots, rudimentary, steam-based, sentient automatons. They share roughly the same features, being clunky robots of 89 centimeters in height, their upper body accentuated with round elbows and shoulders, and a torso with a single, bronze wheel in the middle. Their four-fingered hands are clawed and outfitted with gauntlets, while their feet and ears are long and akin to those of a rabbit. Their face is framed by aditional plating on their cheeks, and large black screens for their bright pupils; horizontal lines for Tarah, and vertical ones for Thayne. Both of the machines have seen their fair amount of undatended wear, the former having the most visible scars of the two
Clothing/Armor: The twins wear cloaks above their heads, while every fascimile of clothing -like the bandages of their feet and the purple on their chest- are part of their chasis
Personality
Wary, untrusting, and loyal only to each other, the grifting, grafting twins are independent to a fault. Tarah is brash, stubborn, and fairly potty-mouthed. Her aggresiveness tends to get the two in trouble, even if her best interests are to zealously protect her brother. Thayne is reserved, educated and cunning, his talent and potential obfuscated by a host of insecurities. He looks up to his sister and wishes to be able to stand for her, though he hardly realizes that he very much could if he tried
Weapons/Items
Bandit Arms: Concealed weaponry to carry out dirty deeds. Tarah brandishes a double-edged axe longer than her body and with a head larger than her own, compact and retractable via some mysterious mechanism. Thayne wields a sharp dagger, and brandishes a seemingly unlimited supply of hidden blades.
Thief Tools: All manner of basic trinkets to get past locks, and maybe some loose gravel.
Abilities/Powers
Against All Odds: Nurtured as thieves and pickpockets from a young age, Tarah and Thayne are swift, dexterous when getting in and out of scraps
Mystic Gift: Individuals that call the Cursed City their home become afflicted with the raw, pulsing energies of the Necronomicog. Arcane Magic is foul sorcery in its purest form, capable of inflicting dire wounds and afflictions. The magic manifests differently in each twin; Tarah specializes on more physical applications, while Thayne can cast bolts and hexes from afar. Tarah and Thayne can share the benefits of their spells with each other
Steal Strength/Syphon Mind (Tarah/Thayne): A hex that redistributes boons to the user. Tarah can sap the enemy's strength, while Thayne can acquire their accuity
Thorns (Tarah): Tarah confers a target with a thorny carapace, deterring even metallic grubby hands
Drain Life (Tarah): By swinging her Axe, Tarah unleashes a ranged whirl of magic that drains vitality from targets hit
Spike Trap (Tarah): Tarah wills spikes to emerge from the ground to deter attackers
Doom (Thayne): Thayne hurls a red arrow at a target, which gravitates upon them on contact. This curse will injure the target each time something else inflicts harm upon it
Raven Strike (Thayne): An ethereal carrion bird lunges from the skies to harry its target and blind them.
Sleight of Hand (Thayne): Thayne creates a loaded card which bursts with magical energy on command
Infect (Thayne): Thayne channels dark energies to converge in a spot of their choice, causing an noxious blast that might envenom their victim
Roleplay Sample
Thayne has stolen a Blue Gem
A curious eye inspected the semi-transparent gemstone, graciously pilfered from one of the chests before him. Thayne smiled to himself as he appraised the gemstone, certainly this was worth several thousand gold pieces at the right vendor. He wondered why they would put these two in the middle of an unattended room in this sprawling castle, but he always wondered that, treasure chests never made sense. A strange object called his attention, distorted by the spherical gem, and the steambot was startled by a quickly approaching shield featuring the image of a roaring dragon, causing him to scramble backwards with a faint 'eep!'. Despite clumsily throwing the gem upwards, he managed to catch it again, only to get shushed by what turned out to be his sister, hauling the enormous dragonshield with her.
"C'mon Thayne! Hurry up! We can look at the haul later. The red armored losers are losing, and some blue haired guy from the other army looked at me weird", Tarah mentioned, motioning her brother towards the next treasure chest, to which he sheepishly complied. "You're lucky it was me and not one of those guys...", she mentioned, strapping the shield to her back while she looked at the door while her brother worked on the lock. "Uh, one of them actually saw me...we made eye contact...", Thayne commented, earning a skeptical look from her sister. "He stared at me for a few seconds, then shook his head and just moved on". The boy smiled at his sister's contemplative expression, as if the idea of that happening explained a few things. The tick of an open lock regained their attention, prompting Tarah to shove the chest open.
