History:
For many ages, the Triforce of Wisdom was not a part of the Hyrulean Royal Family. And even when that day came, it did not come by natural means. The Greater Will, one of many outer gods with a vested interest in the Kingdom of Light, for one reason or another, wrote it into being. On that day, a little girl was found in King Regis’ sleeping arms, blue of eyes and blonde of hair, not at all like him or his son. And yet, he knew, after waking to such a sight, that she was his daughter. Zelda, his daughter, brought to him as a cosmic sign. Though he had many questions, he asked none, and for that silence he was rewarded with a child who was gifted beyond his wildest imagination. Hyrule would be host to the Triforce of Wisdom. The favor of the Greater Will, to this day inexplicable, had been passed down to Hyrule.
Regis was not the most devout of kings, but he believed all the same. Hyrule had regarded the Greater Will with reverence before, and this connection only grew stronger still as Zelda grew into herself. He made no explanation for her sudden appearance, nor why she did not look at all like the younger prince Noctis. She was met with confusion, even anger, but the king was steadfast. Zelda was their princess, and she would be accepted. Many claimed that the royal family had been split in twain, forces unknown intervening to deny Noctis the throne. It mattered little. In time, that acceptance would come in droves when it became apparent that she wielded the Triforce of Wisdom.
The crest of the Royal Family.
Zelda got on well with her father and brother. She got on well with everyone, actually. Despite being the approximation of a virgin “birth”, Zelda did not lack for charisma nor charm. She captivated the people of Hyrule with natural grace. She was quickly embraced by tutors and masters of many different arts, each of them eager to prepare the next sovereign of Hyrule for her preordained purpose. Zelda did not care much for any of this, but she understood the inevitability of this life that she had been brought into. What little time she had to spend with her father was reserved for matters of the realm; matters of the heart were secondary to the Mothercrystal.
Noctis, on the other hand, understood Zelda’s plight better than anyone. Though she was the favorite, they were both children fraught with tasks beyond their understanding, and certainly beyond their interest. They stole back their innocence however they could, from kitchen raids to spontaneous expeditions into the dungeon, much to their father’s dismay. Noctis was no mage, but he was a warrior, and hoped to see more of Zelda, if he could just join the Kingsglaive, the appointed guardians of the Royal Family. Alas, much like Zelda and her father, the siblings’ paths would gradually diverge from one another. For all Noctis’ fame as an aloof prince-in-waiting, he only grew more distant from the systems of power, while his sister became more ingrained in those systems. Zelda had Impa for company, true, but childhood guardians were a poor substitute for companionship with her peers.
Zelda recently reached the age of maturing. When - not if - something befalls King Regis for the last time, she will assume the seat of Hyrule as the Queen of Light. It is less and less common to see him away from the Mothercrystal, never mind away from the capital. As a result, Zelda has begun taking on more responsibilities under the supervision of Ardyn Izunia, the royal advisor. Mindful of the inevitable, Ardyn was keen on preparing the princess for her duties when the time finally came. She needed to be ready. Ready for Hyrule, and herself, of course… but also, ready for the Greater Will. She could not afford to err against the fates themselves.
Drive:
Ultimately, Zelda’s destiny is to inherit the throne of Hyrule after her father, and to lead the Kingdom of Light into prosperity. However, Zelda understands that there is more at stake than merely the integrity of Hyrule. There is a coming darkness, one that she knows that she is not yet ready to face. She hopes, through her trials to come, and the allies yet to be made, that one day, she will be capable of what fate will require of her.

Personality
As the Sage of Wisdom, Zelda carries herself with a distant grace that often borders on cold. She is painfully aware of the responsibilities that lie before her, and though she feels up to the task, that does not make the burden any easier to bear. She is wise beyond her years, with insight eclipsing sovereigns far older than her. In spite of her youth, Zelda carries herself with more humility and maturity than most adults. Her duty forced her to adopt these things as a child; by the time she was a woman grown, her image as a divine figure was not without merit… though she does not see it that way.
More often than not, Zelda sees her wisdom as a burden that she has no choice in carrying. Seeing through everyone and their thoughts. Understanding the universe on a higher level, it would be a daunting responsibility for anyone, least of all someone who began to do so as a child. She feels similarly about her responsibilities as the Princess of Hyrule. Not only must she preserve the Triforce and the sancity of the Sacred Kingdom, she must one day lead that kingdom as well. There are few - indeed, if any - people that Zelda can call her friend who is not alsok lntertwined with her duties. Impa, Emmeryn, even Ardyn are like her family, but she has never known them as friends. Her life has only become more lonesome. The Princess of Light has few comforts, save for the lukewarm knowledge that she will always have people who will help her - and who will need her.
In spite of duty and distance, Zelda finds ways to get in touch with her ideal self. She frequently steals herself away from Hyrule Castle on expeditions to places near and far. She is innately curious about the world, that of Hyrule’s world as well as what lies beyond its borders. Half the time, it matters not where Zelda’s feet take her; the thrill of the journey itself is what drives her to explore. Zelda’s divine roots are tempered by an overwhelming mortal desire to learn, and more importantly, to share that experience with others. Perhaps that had been her lot in life, once upon a time. Perhaps one day she will be able to indulge that fantasy past flights of fancy from stolid court life at Insomnia.
Equipment
The formal dress of the princess of Hyrule is an elegant full-body gown, clad in the Lucis colors of blue and silver. It is an elaborate presentation, from the plated cufflinks to the sun-and-star earrings. Though Zelda will at times wear a tiara, it is merely ceremonial. Hyrulean royalty takes after its Cyrodilic roots, in that the true mark of their royalty is a sacred Aetheryte shard, embedded within a quicksilver brooch that rests on Zelda’s collarbone. There is not much protective about the gown, nor is it particularly comfortable to wear, but it is the manner in which Zelda must comport herself for her formal duties.
When Zelda need not concern herself with the public view, she is wearing an outfit better suited for adventure and exploration: a blue-and-white tunic, fitted with a silver skirt, black leggings, and comfortable running shoes. There is nothing royal about this clothing, much to Zelda’s preference. The tunic is woven from silkscales found beneath Lake Hylia, making it resistant to force and most magical effects. Zelda wove the clothing herself, proving herself a seamstress, leatherworker and armorer all in one.
Abilities/Powers
Triforce of Wisdom
Since before the founding of Hyrule, the mythic blessing of the Greater Will of the realm has been rooted within three indomitable souls that have persisted through countless avatars. The woman known today as Princess Zelda is the current reincarnation of one such avatar, that of Wisdom. The Triforce bestows a myriad of miraculous boons to its chosen, differing for each avatar. Zelda’s manifestation of the Triforce of Wisdom works in mysterious ways, seldom understood by the young woman or those close to her. At times, she has extraordinary senses, to the point that she experiences bouts of clairvoyance. She has an intrinsic affinity with magic, learning it as easily as one learns to breathe air. Her mind is often “more than itself”, often meaning a fashion of telepathy and deeper understanding of others’ emotions and behaviors. However, Zelda is seldom in control of these abilities. She will often be forced to indulge them at inopportune times, and with mixed results. Her tutors insist that these skills will flourish over time, though the princess has taken to believing that she needs external guidance to properly master the Triforce.
Crystal-blooded
Most of the ruling noble families of Tamriel are linked to a distinct Mothercrystal, a massive nexus of magical essence that serves as a nation’s foundation for dominance in a post-Cyrodiil society. In this way, each royal family is “crystal-blooded”, blessed with an inexplicable connection to their Mothercrystal that grants them sole dominion over its power. As a (foster) member of the Lucis lineage, Zelda is one of three individuals who can directly access the Mothercrystal housed at Insomnia. While this lends to Zelda’s prodigious magical ability, it is moreover a testament to her influence throughout Tamriel: She is a divinely recognized heir, and short of the aging King Regis, Zelda holds the supreme authority in the kingdom of Hyrule. Zelda remains fresh-faced in these affairs, but she must nonetheless exercise her political will.
Magic
Zelda is a savant sorceress, a skill that is owed to many factors. The Hyrulean Royal Family is privy to the best teachers of the arcane arts in Tamriel and beyond. Their bloodline is rumored to be steeped in aetherial tradition, to a degree surpassing even the Tevinter magisters. This is to say nothing of Zelda’s connection to the Triforce. Each aspect of the Triforce bestows an innate understanding of magic, though none so great as the Triforce of Wisdom. Princess Zelda is the youngest magus to be inducted as one of the Six Archmages of the Kirin Tor, and remains one of its most potent members. Though Zelda still has much to learn, her potential has been said to be prophetic… provided that she learns to use her gifts properly. Zelda’s magic has as many uses as her imagination permits, provided that she has the focus and stamina to give it form. Her spells take the form of radiant, blue light, reminiscent - but not identical - to the elden magicks of elven Prifddinas. Though Princess Zelda is unmistakably aligned with Light, she is not the Oracle of Light.
Historian
Zelda’s passions lie not in the present nor the future, but in the past. Driven by her obsession with her personal mysteries - as well as those of Hyrule itself - the princess seeks out opportunities to learn wherever she can find it. Though this is a general scholarly yearning, Zelda is most drawn to matters of history and yore, such that she may learn more about herself, where she came from, and what she might be able to do with this potential knowledge. This is particularly unsurprising, given that the princess often uses her status within the Kirin Tor to facilitate learning that is only possible to the most privileged of Tamriel’s mages.
Adventurer
Independent of her duties as Princess and Triforce-bearer, the princess of Hyrule has taken to adventurous exploits uncharacteristic of her forebears. She can trek into the wilderness by her lonesome, and even hold her own against wild beasts and sinister men. While Zelda is a princess first, the life of exploration and wonder is when she most feels herself.

One hand reached up, then tugged, holding firm. Then the other hand reached up, tugged, held firm. One after another, the owner of these arms continued pulling themselves up until the rest of their body joined the arms on the elevated ground, far from where they had started. Princess Zelda was… high. Very high, in fact. Trying to perceive the cave bottom that she had come from was dizzying. That didn’t matter right now. There was only what lied ahead.
Zelda had hardly finished dusting off her knees when she was taken in by her new surroundings. Bright crystals permeated the landscape, from the clearing awaiting the end of this tunnel to the walls, ceiling, and even floor that she had come upon. She was careful not to break any of the lustrous earth, moving deftly between where the crystals spurted from the ground. Zelda could feel that these were no ordinary crystals. This was a special place, indeed.
”need to… only just… do you mean…?”
She turned sharply. Those voices - she had not imagined them. She was not alone… wasn’t she? There was no sight nor sound of where those words had come from. Zelda had heard them in her mind. She hurried through the tunnel. Perhaps they were outside?
need to… must do something about… please…”
There was no mistaking it. Whoever was speaking in her mind, they knew she was here. She was unwelcome here. Unfortunately for them, Princess Zelda went where she pleased! She was going to get to the bottom of this. In this clearing, something rested on an old dais, on the far side. Zelda couldn’t make out what it was, but she knew that it was important. With no time to lose, the princess hurried towards the dais. She could almost make out its form. A tome? A slab? She would not have time to find out. At that moment, she felt a shadow looming over her. It was a wicked thing, exuding malice that her father had warned her about. She froze in her place. Could this be-
”Ahem.”
The familiar face of Ardyn Izunia was smiling down at Zelda. It was that knowing sympathy, though also possessing some sternness that he shared with her father - the king. Zelda quickly raised her head, remembering where she really was. The courtroom at Insomnia, attended by her father and his cabinet… which included her. There was Lady Emmeryn, Divine of the Chantry, standing to her right, who offered her a sympathy that was like Ardyn's, though tempered with a sincere grace that was expected of the most holy woman in Tamriel. Impa stood to Zelda’s left, the Sheikah amazon towering over her charge with a tutting smirk. Ardyn returned to the other side of the throne, where the woman known as the Blade of the Myre stood raptly at attention. She tilted her head ever so slightly towards Zelda with what she was pretty sure was disdain. She did not look amused by this. A human woman stood below, who had seemed to have been addressing the King and his cabinet for… Zelda had no idea how long, actually. She was tall, broad-shouldered, and despite the crown resting upon her head, was clad in gilded armor, more like a knight than a noble. She appraised Zelda with sharp eyes. Zelda remembered now. Meve, the Queen of Lyria.
And then there was her father. King Regis Lucis Caelum… but he was not here. The throne was empty. That’s right. He was attending to the Mothercrystal today. It was the fourth time this month. Then that meant… the throne wasn’t empty. The Princess was sitting in it. Her eyes shot over to where Noctis was usually standing. He, too, was absent. Instead, a Zora scribe was in his place, furiously recording the minutes on a Sheikah Slate. Zelda closed her eyes for a moment, processing her shame. Then, she faced Meve with her best attempt at a conciliatory smile.
”Forgive me, Queen Meve. My mind was elsewhere. Why don't we start from the beginning?"
