Hi there, and welcome to Altair City! My name's Ashleigh, and I'm here to help you through orientation before your flight arrives at the airport. I'm going to give you a quick rundown of Altair's history, as well as the rules, then double-check to make sure you've got your documents all sorted out. When we're done, I'll brief you on the locations within the Altair Region, as well as some pretty important people you should probably know first before you meet them. Then, if everything is in order, I'll see you soon!

Main Guide — Introduction
So, Altair City was actually just kind of a normal city at first. There wasn't actually all that much to see or do here, but we were blessed with a wonderful oceanside view, and the beautiful mountain valley just beyond the border, which was why a city had been built here long ago in the first place. In fact, someone liked our town so much that he really wanted to try and convince people to come here! So of course, what better than to have a place to host Pokemon competitions? Andromeda Stadium was finished about a dozen years ago, and by inviting some really strong trainers from around the world to have an inter-regional competition, it really blew up Altair into quite the tourist destination! Nowadays, Altair is regarded as one of the most popular places for anyone to visit if they want to challenge themselves, and it's created a very interesting culture, too. It's as if the entire place is one huge resort dedicated to Pokemon! You'll find a wide variety of shops and companies with items and other goods to help, and of course, plenty of things for tourists and competitors alike to enjoy. Andromeda Stadium is regularly filled with excitement and battles, alongside the events that are hosted every now and then. Because of how publicized everything is, the most successful trainers are even something like local celebrities! Well, aside from our unofficial champion, who represents our region elsewhere, but more on that later! I'm sure you're quite excited to visit Altair, and I'm probably telling you a lot of things you already know about, so I won't hold you up any longer. Let's get right into the rules now, shall we?

Main Guide — Rules
1. No Godmodding
First and foremost, you should be used to this one already, right? It's basically the same anywhere you go. You only control your own characters and Pokemon, not anybody else's. This includes actions you make in posts, you can't just assume actions that other people will take, what they're doing, what their response will be, or things like that. Everything you do is something you alone do. Let other people make their own actions!
2. No Powerplaying
You're not the best trainer out there, that title already belongs to someone else. In most situations, battles will tend to be fair with their own variety of difficulty in favor of one or the other. Generally, you're not ever going to be functionally invincible or do things that take away agency from other players. Just like rule #1, it's the same here: enjoying yourselves is a two-way street. Now granted, in some serious mismatches, you may find yourself in situations where you might feel completely outmatched, or completely outmatch your opponent, but try to avoid these, unless you agreed to such a situation yourself. If you've got those hard M tendencies, I'm not going to judge you... that much. Just be sensible.
3. Game Mechanics
Trainers in Altair are often really strong! People from all around the world visit here to compete, so you can expect many trainers to be formidable opponents in battle. But, Altair is also open to trainers of all kinds, even for newer or intermediate-level trainers, you should be able to find matches with plenty of people around. If you have Pokemon of your own that you want to bring with you, remember that there's still a limit of SIX Pokemon you can have at a time, preferably in Pokeballs please! If everyone had all of their Pokemon outside, Altair would become a madhouse! Though, if you sorely need to have exceptions, they can be made within reason. Generally, please be considerate enough to restrict yourself to having ONE Pokemon outside of their ball at a time. Held Items are not typically allowed, unless they are special items specifically for a species, but prior permission must be obtained before these can be used. Additionally, one of the local companies around is capable of providing Mega Rings or Bracelets, but any trainer wishing to use Mega Evolution is highly recommended to already be capable of it before arriving, unless you came to Altair to learn how, in which case you'll need to be certified first to ensure the safety of both yourself and your Pokemon. Also, I'm not sure I need to mention this, but feel free to use up to EIGHT moves with each Pokemon. Variety is the spice of life, after all! In battle, it can be quite exciting and chaotic, but if you restrict yourself to up to TWO moves at a time maximum, you'll find the flow of battle is much more conducive to both sides. And lastly, the Palladion Ridge is publicly available for anyone with capable Pokemon. Just be warned, the wildlife can be dangerous, too! If your strength is not high overall, we recommend hiring a guide from the tourism department to ensure your safety. When traveling, please tag your activities with the location you're at, so we know where you are should anything happen. To maintain our ecosystem, catching Pokemon will be restricted to only once in a while, but there won't be any hard-set limits. We know you're all excited to travel and see new things, so please just be courteous to our region. Thanks!
4. Portfolio Updates Are Free
Don't be afraid of asking for a change to your profile! If something needs to be edited, just let me know and I can make requested changes to your account in our database for no charge at all, I'll be happy to help. It's part of my job, after all. Don't do it yourself though, we don't want to cause any problems, especially if I'm not aware of a difference in the data.
5. No Passport Limits
If you want to get your friends to visit Altair, please feel free! There are no limits on how many people you can bring, but each will still be required to go through the approval process as per usual. Just make sure you don't lose track, a bigger crowd will require more care and attention. Be responsible, and things will be fine.
6. If You Need Help, Ask!
Not everything is going to be covered by a guide! We can't predict everything you think, say, or do. If you have any questions that you can't find an answer to, help is always available. By asking on the Discord server, you can get a timely response for whatever you need.

Main Guide — LocationsNow that you're done with your paperwork, let me give you a rundown of the list of locations within the Altair Region: Altair City — The titular city of the small Altair Region, it's quite the massive metropolis, making up a significant portion of the region. The majority of the city sits on a small plateau overlooking much of the northern basin region, with varying elevation as the south end lies waterside. - Andromeda Stadium — The official location of the Pokemon competitions in Altair City, this electrifying stadium is located in the northwestern area, and plays host to ecstatic crowds on the regular. Having recently finished new renovations, it's the de facto place to be, for residents and travelers alike.
- Sirius Park — The very large public park, located in the center of the city. It exudes a very relaxing atmosphere, and remains a place where any and all individuals are welcome to stay and interact with others. A relatively calm place, though it is quite a popular locale for practice battles.
- Rigel Ward — The most populous, cheerful sector of Altair City situated on its western side. It's bustling with life and energy, and lots of local businesses draw customers and activity to the Ward. The area most often depicted on postcards.
- Deneb Ward — A comparatively melancholy sector of Altair City on the eastern side; With less maintenance and life, it's become somewhat worn down over the years. Plays host to the urban slums within the area, but has begun efforts to pick itself up off the ground lately.
- Vega Ward — A quiet, more orderly Ward of Altair City situated at the south end. The efficient and seemingly routine manner that this Ward is run feels different from the rest of the city. However, it has a very active but hidden nightlife scene, and the residents especially know how to keep the pace going. Non-commercial companies often locate their buildings here.
- Latona Heights — The wealthier, more extravagant sector of Altair City in the northern area, with an abundance of upper-echelon attractions and features all around. The goods and services here are nothing but top-quality, with appropriate manners to match.
- Eltanin Bay — Altair City's local wharf, located on its southwestern end that extends out towards the ocean. A high activity, high spirit location, the workers here have a lot of tasks considering the size of Altair City, but will always take the time to extend a helping hand to those in need.
Palladion Ridge — A wide, expansive mountain range that runs from Altair City's northwest to southeast, host to a variety of diverse locales, and as a result, plays host to an equally diverse number of Pokemon species. - Arcturus Valley makes up the bulk of the region, as a lowland flood plains nestled in the mountain range's basin.
- Avior Forest is a tranquil yet mysterious locale, found just outside Altair City to its east and expanding outwards, leading to Arcturus Valley. The still air and maze-like layout have led to the land remaining largely unexplored, with most simply opting for the established path. It is said that rare Pokemon live in its deepest parts.
- Canopus Peak is the highest mountain in Palladion Ridge, and by extension the entire Altair region. Located in the far north, it's covered with snow and ice year-round, providing a stable home for its host of Ice-type Pokemon. For those not as suited to the weather, the mountain's jagged nature and cave system also provides slightly warmer shelter.
- A massively expansive and extensive cave system runs deep below the majority of the entire Palladion Ridge, called the Antares Cavern. It is typically accessed through cave openings in many of the mountains in the area. Rumors say that the deeper parts contain an abundance of hidden treasures. Most of it still remains unmapped due to its size, so please be careful!
- Mount Regulus stands in the eastern section of the Palladion Ridge, playing home to the lone active volcano within the Altair region. Fortunately, it remains a stable and calm one, with its constant volcanic activity simply simmering inside. The enriching environment is conducive to healthy growth for the abundance of Fire-types living inside.
- An eerie, abandoned power plant named Procyon Lab sits in the western ridge. Almost nobody knows of its history, and the few that still do seem to have no intention of sharing.
- A relic of the ancient past, the Alkaid Tower feels more like an elevated ruins, and lies on a plateau in the northeast area of the Palladion Ridge, and while it stands tall, it also extends rather deep underground. There is some ancient writing on the walls that only the most serious archaeologists have been able to even begin translating.
Kapteyn Island — A remote and largely natural locale nearby in the ocean, within eyesight from Altair City's southwest end. Its preserved natural landscape has allowed the local variety of species to flourish. It is home to a small village on the northeast end of the island, accessible by a short ferry ride from Eltanin Bay. - Capella Town was built on the open plain by the shores, neighboring the jungle permeating most of the island. Friendly and welcoming residents along with the abundance of natural attractions make this a popular place for travelers to visit.
- Eltanin Plateau is a diverse expanse covering much of Kapteyn Island, the interesting result of its specific location making it a high-elevation rainforest. Its relative difficulty to access has left it largely untouched, and offers explorers and trainers alike with a wonderful environment to marvel at.
- Spica Cove is a calm locale by the waterside nestled away under the plateau; it is protected from almost all outside forces of nature, leaving it an incredibly peaceful location. The wildlife here lives in relative harmony, and provides shelter to many weary Pokemon and travelers looking for a break.

Main Guide — Important PeopleNow, I did tell you my name, but I didn't really introduce myself properly to you. I'm Ashleigh, and I actually run the entire PC storage system here in Altair. That's my primary job, but I also help out running customs, largely in part because I need to make sure I have the necessary information for everyone visiting Altair so I can actually make sure their PC account is up and running, and more importantly, functioning properly. Especially so when you're bringing Pokemon with you! My office is in the Rigel Ward close by Sirius Park, so when you arrive, I'll be close if you ever need to stop by. I also specialize in Normal-type Pokemon, so whenever I'm not too busy, I do battle with Silvally every now and then, and if I'm being honest, I have a pretty good record too!... Although, I have to be on standby most of the day in case problems ever arise with the PC system. Thankfully, Porygon-Z helps monitor routine performance, so I don't have to worry. Pokemon TeamThe next person you probably will meet is Julia, and she's the manager of Andromeda Stadium. She's the daughter of the man who had the stadium built in the first place, and has always been an avid fan of competitive battling, so it was natural for her to pick up the mantle. She's also one of my close friends! Although, I feel like it was pretty expected for her to not be prepared for just how much work being both a property owner and an event manager can be, especially in a place like Altair that bloomed to popularity. She's seriously strong, too! Better than I can muster, at least most of the time, since she has way more experience than someone like me who battles mostly on the side for fun. You can always count on her for information about Altair's battling system, as well as any upcoming events. Hopefully you like the smell of coffee, because boy, does she need it... Pokemon TeamThere's also one other person you should know, and I'd be surprised if you didn't already know her. Sylvia is the unofficial champion of the Altair Region, although we don't really have a League system here, she represents us to the rest of the world. She's also a worldwide-famous songstress and idol, and will sometimes perform at Andromeda Stadium. We're really blessed to have her presence here in Altair, but she's an indomitable opponent in battle as well. The mood in the city is just so much brighter with her around. Sometimes, you can even catch a glimpse of her in the sky riding atop her Latias. She can be really surprising at times, often meeting her in places you'd never expect. Of course, if she wants to disguise herself, she's quite adept at that, so be careful. She's super kind, I hope you do get to talk to her one day! Pokemon Team

Main Guide — Closing RemarksNow, just for some closing words, please feel free to post in the request thread if you want to organize some group activities with other people. The Discord server is a popular place for real-time discussion, so please join us there if you can! It's also a viable place to ask around, and a good place to contact me as well. There will also be a listing of quite a number of available trainers in Altair, so there will always be someone around if you're bored, because nobody should ever be bored here! Also, make sure to check out the Altair Newsfeed for updates on all kinds of events and announcements, if you turn on your notifications, you can always have the latest information available to know what's going on. I hope you enjoy your stay, and above all, make sure to have fun! See you around~ — Ashleigh
