"Lights! Camera! And... Explosions!"
General Information
Name: Akira Kiyosumi
Identity: Phantom
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Date of Birth: February 14
Place of Origin: Japan
Occupation: Villain — Grand Heist Professional
Faction: None
Appearance
Visual Appearance:
Physical Appearance: Akira is a very lithe girl with a slim figure, and stands at a modest 5'3". She has wavy white hair with a tinge of pink that extends below her waist, tied into a half-up. While her eyes are often covered by a white domino mask that she likes to wear, they are a vibrant shade of pinkish-red. Much like her hair, her eyelashes and brows are white. She also has several feline features, primarily her ears and tail.
Civilian Clothes: When out in public, Akira is typically well-disguised with a variety of outfits, but she does enjoy comfortable loungewear when the necessity of fashion and being presentable is not a strict requirement. She has a special fondness for oversized hoodies and skintight leggings, and often wears sunglasses.
Outfit: Akira wears a white poet shirt with golden buttons, complimented by a dark navy-blue bow brooch with a ruby gem. Around her neck is a black choker, and draped over her shoulders is a white cloak. Her shirt is tucked into a pair of white riding breeches, and on her feet are white high heels. Additionally, she wears a pair of white gloves over her hands, as well as a white belt with pouches around her waist. She also carries a silver cane with an integrated gun, using the cane as a barrel. Akira's clothing is specially crafted to be fireproof in order to accommodate her activities.
Personality
General Personality: Akira is a playful individual with a flair for the dramatic, but much like a magician, primarily uses such methods as attention redirection to disguise her true motives and actions. She has a cunning and savvy brain that enjoys planning ahead and predicting the actions of others. At a base level, Akira operates at her own personal whim and pleasure, often making decisions on the fly, typically acting in accordance with her personal values but always adapting to her current situation. She highly values individualism, the principle of being independent and self-reliant, and looks down on those who act through others without involving themselves. In an ironic sense, she admires the Symbol of Peace for being able to influence so many people with just his presence alone, despite resenting the public hero system and the way it organizes power to control others. In a similar vein, she also dislikes villain groups, admonishing them of hiding in cowardice and relying on groups to accomplish anything. She also carries a rather stringent view on "beauty", in terms of aesthetic value, intellectual stimulation, and the quality of one's own heart and soul. Much of Akira's actions are hard to understand, and her language can be just as equally flowery and cryptic. Full of symbolism and intertwining her words at face value with hidden meanings, she can be quite difficult to talk with sometimes.
Goal: Akira's overall goal is to accomplish many smaller goals of her own personal whim. As long as she can enjoy herself and use her power to influence her surroundings as she sees fit, she does not see this as an unsatisfying life, to do as she pleases and shape the world to her desires. In her words, "The world does not deserve to witness true beauty until they are capable of understanding it. It is not something meant to be hoarded, but shared with the world, yet until then, that too shall be protected." She enjoys liberating artwork and other such icons in the name of preservation, but oftentimes it also serves as a front for initiating action behind the scenes that she can exploit.
Bad Habits: Akira can be very possessive once she has her eyes and heart set on something. She is very persistent and stubborn, and it can lead to some nasty tricks and backhandedness if she puts her mind to it and views it as necessary. Her sense of morals does not necessarily apply to her methods, depending on her needs. She views trust as a weakness and a tool that can be used to exploit others, and has no expectations of anyone else she interacts with, often baiting others to work with her under the incentive of mutual interests, but only for as long as she deems it useful.
Personal Life
Mother: Shiro Ayanami (Villain, Status Unknown). Her quirk is Hellzone Minefield, a dangerous ability that lets her plant invisible ignitions in the air for future detonation.
Father: Kuro Kiyosumi (Villain, Status Unknown). His quirk is Joker's Wild, a descendent relative of the feline Cheshire family that allows him to create playing cards with various magic tricks depending on their suit.
Siblings: None
Extended Family: None
History: Akira grew up mostly without a childhood. Her parents, while kind to their child, were not long for this world, at least in the way of being able to lead a peaceful family life. Born out of impulse more than anything rational, her parents decided that it would be better for her to grow up without the poor influences that her parents would have been. All this happened before she should have been able to remember anything. But when Akira grew up, the little girl was more than capable of remembering their faces and putting together the pieces that they might have been her parents... Once upon a time. Instead, she spent her childhood sequestered in an orphanage. Fortunately, it was a good one. Her parents, if nothing else, had been thorough with their research. Like the other children there, she was taken good care of, taught with a basic education, never went hungry, and with great caution, guidance as the youth learned of their quirks one by one. But for what? Akira was a young girl blessed with great intelligence and instincts from her parents. The handiwork and intuition to find and make use of internal passages within the orphanage led to a considerable amount of eavesdropping, and it became quite clear to her that adoption was simply a pipe dream on the horizon. Orphanages were simply homes for those that had no home.
Akira spent much of her time in the library, always interested in reading much more than she was with... doing anything else. Both fictional and non-fictional literature was always stimulating, intriguing, enlightening. It was a lens into the eyes of those without trouble to express their creativity, and those with trouble to either express their emotions, or project eyes onto reality. This last category, of history and of current times, had begun to teach little Akira of what she already knew, and had already experienced even at a young age (although gaining a greater understanding of what brought the world to this current day was much appreciated). Yet, the first category was the one that expanded her world: literature, art, and other such mediums were ways that even an ordinary person could present ideas or concepts to the public, in ways that only they could understand, or in ways that they wanted to force the public to understand. It was confusing. It was compelling. And she wanted more.
Non-fiction had already taught Akira an important life lesson. Life was not just something that would bless an individual just by existing. There was no such miracle to come for those who waited for one. Fiction had taught her that, despite any circumstances one might have been blessed or cursed with, mankind was always free to dream. Akira found these stories, hopes, and dreams stunningly beautiful, in a way that could not be captured through conventional definitions of beauty. She found meaning in the abstract, things that got the mind to think, not observe. Expand horizons, not depict them. Yet, this kind of thinking, of creative expression, it was so rare. It was so often misunderstood. It simply meant if other people could not understand their meaning, they would not be able to appreciate its true value as art. Perhaps she could change that? It was possible, but it was not feasible. That was enough for her. The what and the how were the two things she had to decide on, but as long as she took action eventually, both of these things could be chosen on the fly. And so, she let her instincts take over. With an almost hunger-like fixation on beauty, it became Akira's modus operandi to collect these unique pieces of art, in whatever form they took, so that she could one day build her own museum, without a single piece of generic and thoughtless art. A building, no, a shrine to the limitless potential of the human mind.
Escaping the orphanage was easy, Japan required children there to leave between the ages of 15 to 18 anyway. It was building a new life for herself that was the issue. Finding a place to stay, a job to work at, and establishing the bare minimums of survival to allow herself free time to pursue her goals... who needed to do that? Stealing was incredibly easy. These distinctly ornate, unique, and in her eyes, life-changing examples of artwork were located all over. But obviously, there were limits to establish. Icarus could not allow himself to fly so close to the sun. She had confidence, but also reason. As such, Akira established a hidden base in Japan, and from there began her lifelong and arduous task to show the world what true beauty really meant.
And my oh my, what a glorious collection she had begun to amass.
Quirk
Name: Blast Trigger
Quirk Type: Emitter
Power: Akira can materialize and manipulate red flower petals that can imbue any object they touch with an explosive property, allowing her to detonate them at will. When embedded into an object, the flower petal will create a small rose-shaped seal made of red light directly on the surface of the object where it made contact. These flower petals can also be directly triggered to explode on their own. Akira can control the movement of the flower petals mentally, and also choose to render any petals inert if she desires, as well as any rose seals that have already been primed. Each individual explosion is small in size but packs a powerful punch, and Akira can quickly and easily bring overwhelming firepower through quantity. Her range of directly controlling her explosive flower petals is about 50 meters, but the response range for detonation of an already embedded rose seal is within 2000 meters. Akira's quirk also provides her with high resistance to heat and fire to compensate for her quirk's explosions, preventing her from burning herself in close quarters combat as well as being able to resist other fire-based attacks.
Supermoves:
Petal Blizzard — Akira decomposes a blast rose into a blizzard of petals, causing them to constantly swirl around herself like a cyclone. This flashy attack turns the immediate area around Akira into a deadly storm that risks anything caught inside being subject to a high volume of explosive seals. It is primarily used as a deterrent outside of checkmate scenarios, as its value lies predominantly in the threat of the explosions, but in situations where there is little room to avoid it, the resulting damage can be massive.
Smoke Barrage — Akira would not consider this a "supermove" as it is, in her words, "not the kind of beautiful finale one would elicit from such a title", but it is one of the more important tricks within her arsenal. By applying seals to a number of smoke bombs, it can serve as a method of instantly dispersing thick smoke over a wide area, providing immediate cover without having to wait for the smoke to spread like they would naturally. This can be used offensively to make it more difficult to locate and avoid her flower petals, but is also commonly used to cover her escape pathing.
Ace in the Hole — Akira's silver cane has an integrated gun using the cane as a barrel; naturally, its ammunition is typically embedded with explosive seals. She can either detonate them in mid-air to catch a target that her bullet might have missed, or a direct hit would allow her to imbue the seal directly onto the target she shot.
Drawbacks:
- When imbued with a rose seal, the object in question effectively turns into a bomb. However, if enough physical damage is dealt to the bomb to deface the seal, it will no longer function.
- Water or other liquid substances, while unable to destroy seals on their own (unless pressurized enough to cause sufficient physical damage), are effective at muffling the resulting fire from the explosions and partially absorbing/reducing the impact force, noticeably reducing the amount of potential damage that can be caused.
- Surfaces that are not in a solid state are not capable of directly retaining rose seals as such a surface can be easily distorted. Akira must attack such things through direct explosive damage or other non-quirk methods.
- While Akira can control her flower petals, they can be disrupted through wind with a strong enough gale force to overpower her manipulation.
Fighting Style: Akira is an incredibly devious and crafty fighter who prioritizes using her environment to her advantage as much as possible. Fighting head-on through overwhelming firepower is certainly possible, but she views it as allowing herself to become more predictable and prefers to lead her opponents through demoralizing wild goose chases. Such a combat style allows her to cause distractions and manipulate opponents into explosions they are not expecting and constantly wearing down both their physical and mental states. Exhaustion will lead to more mistakes than someone whose mind and body is still sharp. Akira changes her pace of combat very frequently to eliminate any patterns and keep enemies constantly guessing about her true intentions, and is always assessing the situation and her enemies in order to find out how best to land a surprise knockout blow. She often makes preparations beforehand if she is able to set the stage for an upcoming attack, and is very methodical in planning her routes for infiltration and escape, as well as backup routes and being able to force her way to them if needed. Akira is a very flashy combatant when she chooses to be, much like a magician, as sweeping fights into the pace of her choosing is important in being able to dictate multiple sequences of events and ideally prevent any adversaries from being able to get comfortable to establish their own plans or strategies. She is highly cunning and attentive, and can pick up on the habits of enemies as well as any shift in their tactics, so she is typically aware if they make discoveries about her own abilities or fighting patterns. Rather than take on opponents in disadvantageous situations, Akira will prefer to retreat and reassess her position, unless a surprise attack is possible from making use of her actions being predicted.
