It wouldn't take long for Brine to take his notes, and it would even less time for the scoreboard to reveal the winning strength scores. Koito gave Shizo a big smile. They watched the same anime!!! Sick! He chuckled as the block exploded in front of him. He made a ballpark guess of who'd succeed here and was proved totally wrong. It would be Sicily who nabbed the top spot for this bracket of testing. He gave a raised eyebrow and a halfhearted thumbs up to both her and Karin. He wasn't a fan of either, but he could give credit where it was due. Strength
1st. Sicily 4th.Yoichi 7th. Yann 2nd. Karin 5th. Shizo
3rd. Koito 6th. Kachiya
These kids were getting close to the end. In fact, Brine noted their enthusiasm, and their ability to push one another. These attitudes weren't for nothing it seemed. "Seems like we're at the home stretch. Last is coordination. I also went ahead and tacked on another surprise test. Swimming. It may not be often you have to deal with it, but I'd love to see how you maneuver." The Coordination test consisted of consecutive side steps, ball throwing, and 50m Swim/dash.
Koito was excited to go all out here. With a large arrow marking from his elbow all the way to his fingertips, he held the ball tight. At his palm was an upward-facing vector, and from his body were loose arrows awaiting an order. If this baseball were the asset, he'd fling this thing to kingdom come. With a throw, the ball would practically teleport upward until it was just a spec, but this is what the loose arrows were for. "Okay okay okay! Last push!" The loose arrows would launch into the air and one by one shove the ball into greater heights. It was safe to say, the ball never came down. "Infinity!"
Next was his swim... which. He'd just repeat his formula for the dash and just yeet himself across the water. "2.84 seconds." Much less harsh of a performance from the dash. It made sense though because his most traumatizing test had yet to come. With folded arms, Koito looked up at the sky and held his breath, prepping to put himself through some serious torture. With two arrows on each side, he'd become a blur bounding to and fro. Dust kicked up violently, as he continued until the timer's stop and his bones creaked in response to the relentless yeeting from side to side. "948 side steps in 1 minute 30 seconds!" The robot exclaimed to the boy who dropped face first into the dirt. Koiito yet again would find himself under the jacket and foamy quirk of Dr. Brine. The good doctor would shake his head, and wait for the next student.

Yoichi pushed herself with the sidesteps, and she walked away after doing nearly fifty three. The ball throw... well, it maybe required a different way of thinking. She considered the ball for a while... then made up her mind. She snapped off a twisted braid of hair, in which she wrapped the ball at the front. Standing on the starting pitch, Yoichi engaged her quirk, then took aim at a high point in the air. Her eyes narrowed... and she fired, sending the ball-head arrow high into the air. She watched it go, then notched another arrow, this time one with a blunt head. It was smaller than the other, lighter too, and she fired it with a precision enough for it to strike the ball on the underside, granting her more distance as it pushed it forward.
The arrow kept going, heavy as it was with the ball entwined. Yoichi was an expert in crafting arrows; she had been doing it her entire life. This was streamlined enough to slice through the air despite its heavy load, and her additional shot hit the exact spot it needed to keep it going.
"Nine hundred and four metres!"
Yoichi closed her eyes, satisfied. She found her strengths where she could, learning from her weaknesses.
Such as swimming.
She felt annoyed, watching Koito float over the water. Shizo had sat it out too, and she had figured out Karin's quirk enough to know she'd stay bone dry. Yoichi considered talking to Brine to sit this one out, but what kind of hero would shy away from water?! She instead bit the bullet, getting her swimsuit on and pushing her hair into a swimcap. The last thing she wanted was to be drying that for a whole day.
Her form was decent, though swimming had never been something she had focused on. Yoichi pulled herself from the water, releasing her hair from the cap as the robot called out her time.
"Thirty three seconds!"
She shrugged, heading to the changing rooms to return herself to the U.A. gym kit.
"Not bad..."

The last bits of this test. It was about time to wrap this all up. She could relax when it was all done, after all. The results so far were things she could easily be proud of. it might even keep her mother's mouth shut for awhile. Better yet, it might even get her off of Sicily's back altogether! That thought alone inspired her as she stared at the ball in her hand.
Everyone had used their quirks to gain their own proper results. No way she could compete with infinite on the throw. But she'd still do everything in her power to get a result she could be proud of. She huffed and lifted her arm up as Avernus graciously closed its mouth on the ball and carried it up into Sicily's hair. Wrap it up.Not a bad way of thinking. Her hair raised up and began to spiral, the snakes coiling into an arm of sorts with the ball clasped in one snake's mouth. It waslike it had been spring-locked and the moment Sicily willed it, it would free itself. She swung her hair around as the "spring" was let loose. The snake holding the ball would be spun around rapidly as the ball built up momentum. When the last spin was being made, Sicily turned her entire body hard into the momentum and made sure the swing when the ball was let go would be a diagonal upswing. The ball rocketed from the grasp of the poor snake who looked quite dizzy.
"2,775 Meters!"
The result was noted by her as she steadied the dizzied snake. To the side steps next.
Wasting no time, she stood in the middle of the set lines then Avernus and Stella latched onto the grounds outside the boundaries on both the left and right. She inhaled deeply, thrust out her chest then braced as she pulled herself left and right as rapidly as she could. She could feel the extent of her strength reaching and managed to reach a result within a minute and 30 seconds that wasn't the best but pleasing to hear nonetheless.
"472 sidesteps in one minute and 30 seconds."
Sicily's snakes withdrew and left her with a headache, falling to her knees and then standing up after relaxing. Yeah. That worked. She retired to the locker room to change into a creamy white one piece bathing suit to accent her dark skin. She stretched and looked around then at the water with a more casual air. The snakes from her hair arose as she entered the water. The snakes immediately took to the water asif it were their second home and slithered across the surface quite fast. Sicily performed her regular strokes which increased the speed. She didn't even feel like she was moving fast but she did notice when she reached the end as her snakes were slithering out onto the edge to pull her up the moment her hand touched the other side.
"7 seconds flat."
She nodded to herself. That sounded right. She didn't mind getting her hair wet. In fact, the snakes relished the chance to feel the water on their scales as when they shone in the sunlight, it gave Sicily an otherworldly glow to her. She sighed as she looked away. She had to get changed back into school attire next. This was the last one. She smiled to herself. She wondered how that fox did on her assessment.

Like the long jump and the 50 meter dash, Karin prepared to approach the 50 meter swim in an identical fashion. However, the diving platform at the edge of the pool provided an extra starting height that she wasn't able to work with before. She had wanted to launch herself at a 20 degree angle on the 50 meter dash, but compromised on 25 just to ensure she cleared the distance before landing, but here? She could get that 20 degree angle that she wanted thanks to the slight bump in verticality. Karin was a little excited as she built up the tension in her air pressure, feeling the rumbling grow stronger. The overwhelming force was let loose all at once like a cannon, and the girl cleared the entire length of the pool as soon as she started. Unfortunately, with the expansion of her wind shroud, a diving platform was far less sturdy than, well, the earth itself. Instead of gouging a small crater in the ground, the platform itself was destroyed from the force of her launch. Oops. But more importantly, the indicated result of 0.83 seconds did prove her initial thoughts correct, even if it only saved a small fraction of time over her 50 meter dash. The typically stoic girl allowed herself the smallest of fist pumps as she gathered herself, dusted off her track suit, and moved on to the next task.
Sidesteps were something that Karin would still have to do the old-fashioned way. However, she could at least provide some aid to make things noticeably easier. Expanding her shroud to an appropriate size for the width of the sidesteps, Karin appeared to be hovering about a couple feet off the ground. This way, instead of expending energy to jump from side to side, all she needed was a mild hop on the tips of her feet to push herself the full distance. Her form looked light and springy despite the gashes on the ground beside each line that her air pressure was leaving in it while changing directions at a steady and methodical yet violently swift pace, and after her efforts, came away banging out a satisfactory total of 355 sidesteps.
Last up was the ball throw. This one Karin had mused over for a few moments, playing around with various ideas in her mind at what would attain the most force, but ultimately settling on the standard concept of a regular pitch backed by her wind shroud expansion. With proper stabilization and throwing angle, it would not be too dissimilar to the equivalent of launching herself forwards in three of the previous tests, but this time, with a much, much smaller object. Unlike the other assessments though, there was no ceiling to this one's results, be it time or distance. Karin left it for last because she figured she could use the remainder of her effort for it. There was no way to match infinity, but 'the sky is the limit' surely could be her aim. The girl's wind shroud was at her thinnest, and she was almost actually touching the ball, but the power of the wind circulating through her razor thin aura was frightening, even if invisible. She pushed her compression as far as she possibly could, before looking at a pre-determined point on the skyline as a reference to align her throwing angle before whipping back, spinning around, and expanding her shroud to its maximum size as she let go of the pressure, the object soaring into the distance and quickly out of sight. It actually caused her to lose her balance, tumbling down and landing midair thanks to the shroud, but righted herself before shrinking its size and letting her return to the ground... which was several meters deep into the earth given the crater she made. Walking up the side, it was only when Karin climbed over the edge using a hand to steady herself did a spark of pain lance through her body, her right arm entirely shredded apart and bleeding all over the place. "Ah." Wincing as her adrenaline started wearing off, she self-diagnosed an unfortunately impressive array of cracks in her humerus, radius, and ulna, walking over to Dr. Brine while gingerly cradling the arm to keep it still as the measurement robot finally caught up to her displaying her distance of 3432 meters. "I'm sorry, it looks like I missed a few calculations in my efforts…" Karin apologized, gesturing with her eyes and head towards the damaged limb, stoically hiding her pain, but was betrayed by the beads of sweat glistening from her skin as she attempted to tough it out. "It won't happen again, but could you take care of this, please?"

Shizo approached the next set of tests a bit differently than before. After getting chewed out and advised by Yoichi on how he hadn't been using his quirk despite it's reduced applications here... he decided he was going to try and be a bit creative, if only to show he had taken her words into account. Besides even if these attempts utterly failed, the concrete block had shown what his quirk was good for, and he'd shown in every test that as far as physical fitness went he was at the upper end of what could be achieved without quirks.
So then... how could he push his body even further with his? He'd searched his memories for all the things he knew both about his quirk and about electricity and the human body... and he had come up with a plan that ought to work... provided he could control his energy enough... thankfully the one thing he'd trained above all others with his quirk after that incident was controlling his energy within his body. He could do this... he could probably do this... it was possible for him to do this... he was going to try to do this and the doubting voices in his head could shut up thank you very much!
Sidesteps-
Shizo stepped up to the line and channeled electricity through his body, at first sparks of energy visibly danced along the exterior of his body, but then slowly they faded as his muscles began twiching uncontrollably... and then that too subsided. He hated how this felt... it felt too much like the training incident... but it was under control, and he couldn't see the flash or feel the heat of the lightning, so he could push it out of his mind.
The start signal went off, and Shizo began sidestepping far faster than should've been possible for an unaugmented human... more importantly, his reaction time to the start signal was so quick it seemed almost instantaneous. Supercharging his nervous system with electricity he could push his body to new heights... just so long as he maintained absolute control over the lightning inside him. If he messed up his muscles would spasm and he'd be thrown off bal...ACK
Being unaccustomed to this strategy, Shizo didn't last the full minute and a half before slipping up. His leg spasmed as his focus slipped ever so slightly, and his sidestep time was cut short as he fell over onto his side. Still putting up a solid number, but falling well short of the top of the class. He'd have to work on maintaining this for long stretches of time. As the energy faded from his system it was replaced with a severe ache in every muscle. Seems his body would need to train to handle the strain as well... a quick round of healing from Brine sorted that out for now though.
Ball toss-
with proof of concept in hand, Shizo tried a similar tactic for the ball toss. He knew the human body could far exceed it's normal limitations when under the influence of electricity. It was actually why when someone got electrocuted they sometimes got thrown across the room. It wasn't actually the energy doing that, it was the spasming muscles of the victim acting without any limiters. If that could launch a whole body across a room without any direction of control... what could he do if he made his body contract like that with direction?
Same as before, Shizo took his time to charge his nervous system up and safely contain the energy before trying anything. Even after Brine's healing just initiating this again made every part of him ache... he needed so much more practice before this was going to be practical in field work... but it was a bit easier to initiate this time. He knew what to do and what it felt like to do it right, now he just had to focus... focusssssss... annnnnnd.... THROW
The ball rocketed out of his hand like a cannonball, his arm moving in a blur as he forcibly contracted the muscles in a synchronized sequence for maximum force generation, sparks shot out from his hand as the ball left, and Shizo immediately released the new technique as soon as he was done to minimize the strain on him.
The ball eventually landed at an impressive 1214 meters. Still well short of some of his powerhouse classmates, but for a regular human using a new technique it was impressive. His arm however was even more messed up than his legs had been before, since he'd pushed them well beyond their normal limitations to do this... another bath from Brine fixed it up.
Swim-
now for the most dreaded of tests... and one he didn't DARE use this new strategy for while in the water. To say nothing of the risk of electrifying the water, if he lost control and his muscles spasmed while SWIMMING that was going to end spectacularly badly... it wouldn't even be safe to rescue him because of the danger of being in water alongside him. Still... he had one point in the swim he could use this new trick for. He practiced the technique while everyone else took their turns in the pool, he needed to test alone and also last to minimize the risk to others using the pool, so he had time.
When it came time for him to swim, he took his starting position, and used the technique at the very start to bolster his legs, launching himself forward at much higher speed, then swimming normally after that. As a result his swim times ended up being faster than a regular human... though if the swim distance had been longer that initial boost of momentum would've faded too fast to make a noticeable difference... still it was better than nothing.
Afterwards, Shizo passed by Yoichi "Thanks for your advice and stuff... Still nowhere close to using my quirk to enhance my body as well as some of us here but... you inspired me to at least try it out... and it paid off... so uh... thanks" he said awkwardly
