OOC: Source Thread- coloholics.boards.net/thread/266/signal-flare-shinja-tanzo?page=4&scrollTo=1927_________________________ The squad car veered hard, but not so much that they get knocked off course like the truck. Tanzo and the officer's were forced to bang a harsh turn toward the mountains. Isaki was speeding with an arm over Shinja in hope to keep in place. He did it without thinking, but quickly recoiled his hand back to the steering wheel. He was no hero, but policemen were heroes in their own right. "Please don't lie to me. Why are you back here? I thought those planes never bombed the same location twice. Why the hell are they actually aiming at the police!??!" Never mind his panic, in the hope to save both of their lives, he couldn't forget the blast that had just hit Jet's house. "This is too fucking fishy. Give me some ans..." A bead of sweat rolled down his cheek as he clammed up. He could here a plane slowly incoming from overhead. They were will in the open fields, he'd have to turn the siren and all the lights off. Bullets would pepper the ground around the car as the plane lost visibility. This fog was a gift and a curse in this stormy night. Neither the predator or prey could see each other.

The whole affair shook Shinja like she hadn't felt in nearly a year. The attack of Team Confidence, her dance with KK and battle with November, ending in the final fight outside of the Glassbox... it was all brought back in stark relief as an explosion separated the two cars, sending her and the sergeant on a different path from Tanzo and the others. First Kako, and now him. She felt the metallic taste of blood in her mouth as they swerved to avoid bullets; had she bit her tongue? Shinja gripped the door handle tight, eyes wide, staring straight ahead. When the plane seemed to let off, she turned her head to Isaka.
"They knew... I learnt that... these villains were the ones responsible for Aeronaut's death, all those years ago. I... I found this out, started asking questions... that's why Tanzo and I were there. They must have found out! Now they're trying to kill me too!"
She gripped her fists tight, looking out and up into the dark, impenetrable sky.
"If they're after me, then Tanzo and- we're all in danger. Argh! I swore to them I wouldn't get them in trouble! That I would protect them!"
For a second Shinja crumpled, head between her knees, hands twisting through her duo-coloured hair. Then she sat up, wiping her eyes and grimacing.
"I have to lead them away. They must be after me first, everyone else second. If I can lead the planes away from you and the others..."
Her fans whirred as she stared at Isaka, expression dark and fierce.
"I can buy time for you guys to get reinforcements."

"They knew... I learnt that... these villains were the ones responsible for Aeronaut's death, all those years ago. I... I found this out, started asking questions... that's why Tanzo and I were there. They must have found out! Now they're trying to kill me too!"
"NO!" Sgt. Isaki eyes widened. He'd heard about them but was hoping the rumors about them being inactive were true. He struggled to bounce his eyes between Shinja and the dark void in front of him. He knew this main road to know there weren't too many turns coming up. He feared for his fellow officers and the young hero with them. Shinja seemed to catch her bearings as a hero, but it only brought more worry to the officer. Sure she has the provisional, but she was a kid. His instinct were telling him stop her as he heard her fans ready up and whir. At the same time... he didn't have the resources to deal with this plane. Reinforcements? That's right... she hadn't read the files over at the station. It was a small town, so almost every cop had read a tiny bit about Team Airraid.
"Listen to me... I know I can't stop you, but... those planes are Airraid's boss's... The Baron's quirk! It's called Dog Fight. No one has seen the real person, but he supposedly is able to pilot planes like the one chasing us intelligently. It's how he was able to keep up with a flying ace like your granddad. " He wanted to supply her with what he could. Sadly, this was the best he could give. With sad but hopeful eyes, he'd a give trusting nod to Shinja and slow the car down whilst unlocking the car door. This wasn't his choice... It was the young hero's choice. Maybe in this fog, she'd have the upper hand. "Go get em, Aeronaut... I'm rooting for you!"

Shinja felt a lot of thoughts in a fraction of a second. She thought of her friends, of Jack, and Tanzo. She thought of Kako, how much she worried for her. She thought of her teachers, of Nocturne and his sidekicks, and felt enourmous guilt. She thought of her brothers, who she missed, and her mother, who she really missed. Shinja thought that she would finally write home, if she could. She even thought of her father. Would he miss her? Finally, Shinja thought of her grandfather. He did the same thing, many years before. Had he thought of the same things too?
Then she put the thoughts away, clearing her head space. Now she could focus entirely on what was before her. Shinja hadn't felt this kind of singular focus since the Glass Box. She nodded at Isaki, her eyes resolute and firm. Her hand clenched around the handle of the door, before she hesitated.
"If anything happens, find Tanzo, and a girl called Kako. He'll know what it means. Get them far away from here."
Then, a second later, she was gone, out of the open car door and into the wind and lashing rain beyond.
The storm was absolute, but Shinja was no stranger to the open skies. The wind was her ally, and even the fury of the weather gave her no pause for concern. With just her flight hat to signify her status as a hero, she certainly wasn't dressed to outlast the cold, but all she had to do was lure the planed away from her friends. She grimaced, fans pushing her higher into the clouds and towards the closest engine.
"Come on then... let me show you the true power of Aeronaut!"
Shinja kicked her fans up a gear, looking to pass the closest plane at breakneck speed. If there was a pilot, they would practically see eye to eye, but if this Dogfight quirk was real... Shinja clenched her jaw. She had got Tanzo and Kako into this situation. Her life wasn't what she was worried about. Shinja would do everything in her power to allow her friends a way out of danger!

Isaki looked at her with sad eyes, and as Shinja pull out of the car and into the winds both she and the plane would pass it with ease. A farewell bomb would be dropped right on the car as the two cleared it and ascended into the air. As Shinja looked into the cockpit, there would be not pilot. "I'll deal with you how I dealt with your grandfather." A large eye would be staring right back at her, and actually accelerate. If not trying to outright ram her, it would then jolt far right, and ascend once more. In the distance, another plane could be heard, although it's jets would much more monstrous. Upon closer look, it was a person. A girl headed right for her! "Jetburn!" She roared with a competitive grin. From her a palm her jets screamed emitting a massive fire ball. Even in the rain it still travel quite the distance toward Shinja. It was uncanny. The girl was the spitting image of Jet, but also stylistically much like Shinja herself. With the Baron's plane easily heard overhead. It was clear this fight was never meant to be fair! Surprise attacks and tricks was likely how they were able to get the upper hands on Aeronaut Sr. Name:Red Baroness Quirk: Dogfight (Mutant) With holes in the user's hands, back and feet, the user can in turn create flames so compact that they can blast around like a jet. They can also shoot fire balls and copmressed lasers so long as they cool down after.

Shinja deftly avoided the plane, taking in the giant eye and the fact it could speak. The words... she clenched her jaw in anger. All this time she had been chasing answers, but now she had found it, Shinja felt a wild brew of emotions in her heart. This was a bad time to be feeling like this, especially as a second villain came from the skies.
She banked, avoiding the fireball and riding the thermals that came from the rapidly heated air around it. Shinja went high, slicing through the storm and wheeling to speed around the newcomer. She had to keep moving, so that the two (or more) enemies couldn't flank her. Shinja was in real danger.
As she flew, she aimed a single fan at the girl. A series of high-pressure wind blasts, fist sized bullets that punched their way through the turbulent skies, aiming to put the villain on the back foot while Shinja figured out what she was going to do. She needed more information... what else could this jet girl's quirk do?

As Shinja sped around, Red kept her back jet blaring and only pivoted to track the girl. Quite fast~she thought to herself. So this was the granddaughter of the man gramps has such a grudge with. An outdated feud, but she wasn't against being the one to end things. The plane's engine roared from the dark and dusky clouds and fluff. From way above, small artillery bombs would softly drop toward Shinja as she released his vacuum bullets. The plane would slowly pass over head and enter a dive. Red smiled as the rain gave the compressed wind some visibility. It was something she could dodge.
"That's nothin! Might wanna look up though!" She'd cut her jet and begin a free fall, the wind only catching her hair and knocking her goggles off. Snatching them out of the air, she'd throw them over her eyes, and begin a dive. She'd wait for the last minute before going full blast and peeling back upwards. Both she and her grandfather's quirk were flying in complete unison. The flight specialist check her hands and smiled. With all this rain, she didn't need long to cool off. Yeah her flames were dwarfed, but she could go all night in this shitty weather.
"Don't get cocky. " The Baron would warn his granddaughter. It would take more than a few mere bombs to take this girl down.

Who was she dealing with here? Shinja turned her attention from the girl as she heard the whining of the plane overhead. Two on one wasn't fair... but the life of a hero never was, right? This is what her grandfather had fought against! She swung her hand fans around, releasing a surge of wind towards the bombs. It wasn't just to deflect, however. They were caught up in the whirlwind, spiraling around until they began to strike one another, causing an explosion that encompassed all the rest.
The blast pushed her away, but Shinja regained composure after a second. She listened out for the plane; right now, they were equal threats, but she gathered that it was the leader, and the girl was following orders. So she took off, engaging her fans to speed up and chase down the eyeball pilot. When she could see the tailfins, Shinja raised a hand and released a barrage of air bullets, trying to knock the vehicle off balance and take it out of the fight!

The clang of metal could be heard as the tail dented, causing the jets to fire up in an attempt to compensate. They'd cut right off, to make an abrupt and almost impossible turn. The pilot's instincts were insane! The vehicle would rip upwards, before bowing in a tight arc. It was definitely going to crash, but it was going to go down swinging. Bullets roared out of the front guns, as it descended. Red would take the high road, more specifically flying in a high enough arc to try and snare Shinja if she tried to evade the bullets. The girl stiffened her body as her jets kicked it into high gear, the color of their emissions glowing blue, only to be cooled by the very torrent they flew in.
"Mhmmm, get right in my line of sight. I dare ya!" She grinned, gearing up to take off at any second. In her hands was a snare of sorts, loose on one end, attached to a baton. The jet going to didn't bother her at all. It wasn't like there weren't more where that came from. These were quirk-made jets after all... In just a moment, she'd go careening toward Shinja followed by a blue streak.

Shinja wasn't idly avoiding attacks. With each movement, with each attack, she was taking in the options and the dangers. Red was the main problem. She was as fast as Shinja had been going, it seemed. The plane was an issue, but Shinja was far more mobile. When she saw the plane rise up and begin to rain fire onto her, she grinned. This was what they were planning, huh? She saw Red coming towards her too, setting themselves up for an ambush. Something held in the girl's hand. It looked like they wanted to kidnap her!
"I'm not falling for that again..."
Shinja whispered into the wind as the bullets tore towards her. She focused on Red... and suddenly there was a roar of wind and fans. She shot forward, faster than she had been moving before, passing through the storm like a bolt of lightning. The bullets missed her, and she came into Red's zone of influence. Too fast to avoid or dodge around the other girl!
Shinja lashed out, one hand taking a fistful of Red's clothes and the other pointing behind her, fan roaring with defiance. Within an instant she had begun to spin, using Red as an anchor until they were a fierce vortex, a blur of wind and rain that sliced through the clouds.
"Plus! ULTRAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Shinja's hurricane spun the two of them around in impossible speeds for a few seconds, until suddenly she released. Red was let go while tilted towards the ground far below. Not close enough for her to hit, unless her jets faltered, but the pressure from the throw should hinder her for a second.
Shinja regained her composure, then shot forward towards the plane. It had only taken six seconds for her to act, speed that she hadn't been showing off before. The plane was ahead... she surged forward, grabbing onto the wings and aiming a stinging fan downwards, towards the eye.
"This is a gift from Aeronaut! HURRICANE BLAST!"
She released a thick jet of wind from her palm, straight down towards the eyeball.

Red braced herself, unloading repetitive bursts as Shinja yanked her. It would kill a bit of the speed, but she surely would bounce off the ground in a violent thud. The concrete cracked from both the impact and her roaring jets killing the residual momentum. She'd ponder over her grandfather's words. "Don't get cocky." She snarled at the sentiment watching as the hero was dealing with the descending plane. The eye would glare up at the young aeronaut, reminiscent of the damned hero he killed oh so many years ago. Before the blast of wind slammed the plane into the ground, it called out to Red, "See to that I get this garbage in front of me. I want to tell her all about how I looked Aeronaut in the eyes before killing him."
"HAI!" Red called out in response. The plane couldn't fight the hurricane force. In fact, the blast would slam into the ground in a fiery explosion. To get Shinja's attention, Red's palm would point toward the fan hero. A large laser, which dwarfed into a thinner laser in the rain, ripped through the air and intentionally missed. "This way! You heard em!" She'd cool her back jet in the downpour, and blast off with her usual propulsion. The mountainside wasn't far, which meant the base wasn't far!

Among the whipping winds and storms, Shinja paused. Red was leading her into a trap, that was certain. Think... her grandfather wouldn't run into something like this without back-up or a plan in mind. She retrieved her phone, and sent a message. Tanzo and Kako. It was brief, a quick note. Confronting the boss. They'll keep killing if I don't. Location to follow.
Shinja pushed it back into her jacket pocket, watching the red glow that was shrinking in the distance. Shinja frowned... but knew that this would end it. What choice did she have? This wasn't just personal anymore. Shinja needed to stop these villains, one way or another.
She took a deep breath and engaged her fans, soaring into the storm, after Red, towards her fate.

It wouldn't be long. In fact, all they had to do was pass the mountainside, and it would become a bit obvious. A single landing strip in front of a cave, almost invisible in this fog and stormy weather. Red would point it out, before flying in an arc to land. "As long as you keep yourself under control, we'll let you have a civil conversation with him." She glared at the girl. That's what she wanted right? In the far distance, another plane would come spiraling down into a crash... It was one of the baron's quirk-made jets. Just what the hell was going on? Red gritted her teeth and let her feet feel the satisfaction of real concrete. She'd turn back to Shinja, "CIVIL, okay?!?"Toward the cave's entrance, another plane sat at the ready, and eyeball leering at the two of them, but it wouldn't move. There were more people, some grunts moving equipment about, but there definitely were some strong looking guys too. As they arrived, so did the gunners Walker and Anderson, the fake cops who were pulling Tanzo around in their truck. "Oh hey, it's fly girl." One remarked. "Aeronaut, you dick." The other playfully pointed his gun at her before holstering. This was a den of villains, the den of Team Air Raid. Fighting back would only seem more and more futile the more villains appeared left and right within the cave. Despite being made out of a rock face, the inside was developed quite well. There was a deeper inlay of steel to maintain structure and fortitude. The rest of lights, and glass to dimly illuminate the place. They'd round a corner and enter a back room, where an elderly gentleman rested, with a bloody handkerchief over his mouth. With less surprised, and more sustained hate, he- "The same eyes..." He coughed, ejecting more blood from his mouth. He'd clean himself up with another handkerchief. Shinja felt a pit open in her stomach upon entering the cave, not in part from seeing the two "policemen" from earlier. Tanzo... She had to believe he was okay, that Kako was okay. She had to believe her actions had bought them time. Shinja walked on in silence after Red, deeper into the base until she stood before an elderly man, sickly and weak looking. Yet in his eyes were hatred and vitriole. The eyes of someone who had killed her grandfather.
The Baron.
Shinja contained every ounce of fury she had saved 8p until this point. She clenched her fists, but knew it was a bad move to do anything at this point. Slowly, she sat. Shinja was in a bad spot, but felt calm. She had been in a situation like this before, taken by KK and Team Confidence. Being in the lion's den was second nature.
"So you're the one that tried to kill Aeronaut."
Shinja had a small smirk on her lips, staring deep into the man's eyes.
"Shame. You could only kill my grandfather. Aeronaut survives still, in me."

The Baron eyed her, his posture solid and his desire for blood apparent. SHE was only a piece related to a bigger prize from back then, and attached to a bigger prize now. "It was quite an easy setup. The pieces fell right into place for that one, I wish it were more difficult..." He'd retort. It was true, that assault was well orchestrated. That silly police report was only a fraction of what really went on. The let the handkerchief down, and smile with bloody teeth, eyes peering deep into her soul. "Now you'd think that would be soul crushing, but the way heroes work... hmhmhmhm. It's like stepping on an eggsack. More insects are born and crawl out when you don't pulverize it in an absolute fashion. I should've tracked down and killed your whole family, but I digress." The smile dying off, and his eyes receding back behind those bushy brows. Red found herself against the wall, a single jet pointed at Shinja just in case she tried anything. funny.
Walker and Anderson collected themselves at the Baron's shoulders and would give a report. One gunner would start- "It's just like the report said. The dusk agency is here. The Aeronaut brat is one of the interns, and it seems like she's got some help."
"Yeah, even from that traitor Ace Pilot." Said the other.
"We aren't talking about my brother!" Red Baroness barked forcing them to glaze over the subject.
"We didn't get a proper head count because we had to make it believable. There was a big metal kid, but he escaped. It seemed like he had reinforcements. I didn't see Nocturne. And the quirks being used don't fit the description of what is on the agency website. Maybe they're new recruits. " Walker spoke. Anderson would nod. It would become rather clear that they were getting their information from somewhere and it wasn't entirely accurate. A gaping hole to be exact. Their logic was skewed based on what they'd been told by a trusted source.
"And so that leads me to ask. Where is the dusk hero? If he knows you're out here and seeking out your grandfather's killer, then he is definitely around here somewhere. There's no way a few brats could find us that easily. SO WHERE IS HE?" He stood up. "We know he's here. There have been a few of our informants dropping off like flies around town. Give me answers, girl."
