General Information
Name: Orlando March
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Date of Birth: August 3
Place of Origin: Fortree City, Hoenn Region
Appearance
Visual Appearance:
Physical Appearance: Orlando is a 5'10" tall white skinned male, with moppy blue and navy blue hair with the bangs on his right side dyed black, and covering his irritated eye. His eyes are green, but the right eye has a red sclera, from a poison powder attack, and never truly recovered; as well as shadows under his eyes from the lack of sleep from his time in the city. He's fairly lean, with a somewhat egg shaped head, and somewhat large lobeless ears, and while he tends to have a blank expression on his face, he does occasionally show a half hearted smile.
Clothing: Orlando typically wears cargo pants, and purple or navy blue t-shirts. In colder places, he'll exchange his t-shirt with woolen long sleeves of the same color, as well as a Navy Blue denim jacket. He typically wears hiking boots, but on beaches he'll prefer sandals. He doesn't wear much in terms of accessories except what one would need in gear, such as goggles for sandstorms. Outside of that, he does have a traveling bag that he keeps all his items in, both personal and pokemon items.
Personal Items: Orlando has a pair of Goggles that he had purchased when he was younger in preparation for crossing into the desert to find a fossil for his team later. He never got a chance to use them, but decided to carry them along for this journey. In his bag, he also has the basic supplies to create a tent, including a tarp, a few collapsible cookery, sleeping bags, and a few poke-magazines to read along the way.
Personal Information
General Personality: While he appears fairly edgy, Orlando is anything, but that. He's a fairly kind person, offering to help others with simple things, whether that is holding open a door, or even buying a bottle of water for their pokemon. Of course, he also does understand his appearance does cause people to assume that he's a edgy person, which he'll often lament and sigh at the statement. When it comes to pokemon, Orlando attempts to treat them with respect, often times to his own detriment, though his pokemon will push him back into a better mind set after they give their grievances. When it comes to battling, Orlando doesn't worry too much about constantly winning, but rather focuses on if his pokemon are up for the challenge. If they aren't, then he'll refuse, even if it could prevent him from gaining status, ranking, or respect. He also has a respect for nature, being that he grew up in Fortree City, but he's okay with city life for the most part. Over all, Orlando mainly wants to attempt to try his best, but won't put his goals over his pokemon if he can help it. Never again.
Habits: Orlando has a tendency to doubt himself when it comes to choosing the right thing to do for his pokemon, often times holding his own pokemon back without meaning to. He takes special care to treat his pokemon with extreme care, sometimes outright refusing to battle other trainers if his pokemon have not had a decent rest in a while. He also tends to overly apologize to his pokemon for anything, even if he had no control over what happened. Of course, when it comes down to it, he becomes inspired by his pokemon when they refuse to back down even when he tells them to for their sake, unlike when he initially commanded them to keep fighting. He actually has a side of him that enjoys watching all sorts of pokemon events, sometimes even stopping to watch them. He also can't stand sleeping near a wall with running electricity.
Goal: Orlando wants to try to become a pokemon trainer once again, hoping to learn from his previous experience to become better than he was.
History: Orlando March is... or rather WAS a pokemon trainer. Like most others, he chose to become a pokemon trainer, eventually rising up to face himself against the region's elite four, and partake in the pokemon league for the Hoenn Region. Of course, that being said he was 11 at the time of this choice, having lived in fortree city for most of his life. Of course being from Fortree City, Orlando was more than happy to live out in nature, it was what he had done most of his life due to the nature of the city itself. His first pokemon was unsurprisingly the grass type pokemon, Oddish, that his father helped him to catch. Forming a bond with the small grass type, Orlando began his journey, not that it was an easy one mind you. In fact, the journey from Fortree City to Wauville City. At the time, Mauville was alot more difficult that he had anticipated. None the less, he kept on trying, making more and more progress, and unfortunately also making an unfortunate mistake. His Oddish was fainting often, and while Orlando attempted to catch more pokemon, he was unfortunately not very good at throwing pokeballs. By the time Orlando had finally reached Mauville City, his oddish had gained enough strength to evolve into a gloom, which only accelerated his progress. Eager to try to get his first gym badge, Orlando challenged the Mauville City Gym Leader to a battle, only for his only pokemon to refuse to listen to his orders, and even ignore them out of spite. In his numerous attempts to make it to Mauville City, Orlando had not known that each time his Oddish fainted, it had grown more and more unfriendly with him. Wattson explained to Orlando that his pokemon wouldn't likely listen to him unless he had at least three badges, which even if Wattson had lost, would still have left Orlando in a tricky situation.
Eventually, Orlando would catch a Zigzagoon and be forced to place his Gloom into the PC. He unfortunately did not learn from what Wattson told him, training his Zigzagoon constantly, until it too became too strong for him to control. Unsure what to do, Orlando decided that he would just use both of his Pokemon, but his Gloom had not forgiven him, even seeming more angry that he had left the Pokemon in the PC. Still, Orlando attempted to fight Wattson again, and like last time, the fight was one Sided, his pokemon refusing to listen, as he couldn't prove his worth as a trainer. This would leave Orlando in a state of depression, as he realized that he would likely never become a pokemon trainer with how he acted. Defeated, Orlando attempted to make his way back home to Fortree City, only for misfortune to strike. During a fight along route 118, Orlando's Gloom accidentally struck him with poison powder, causing his right eye to turn red from the poison. A passing hiker found Orlando passed out, the poison nearly killing him, as he was taken to Mauville's Pokecenter. Although he made a safe recovery, his right eye was permanently affected, appearing constantly irritated and red. Waking up two weeks later, Orlando discovered that his Gloom had fled after the fight, though the nurse stated that it had likely lead the pokemon he was fighting away to keep him safe, Orlando knew that wasn't the case. His Gloom had fled because he wasn't a good trainer. After recovering, Orlando would release his Zigzagoon back into the wild, feeling as though he wasn't a good trainer. He decided to stay in Mauville City, working as a helper in the Pokeshop, watching trainers and their pokemon as he stocked shelves with items.
The change from an outdoor city to an indoor took it's toll on Orlando, giving him bags under his eyes as he could never get a good night's sleep with the sound of electricity buzzing all around him. It also changed his outlook on how he viewed pokemon and their trainers, as he watched trainers like himself with their pokemon. Still, he had chosen to give up on that goal, and for nearly eight years, Orlando would be your normal guy who stocked pokemon items at the local Mauville Pokemart. Of course, he never stopped thinking about how he treated his pokemon, and never forgave himself for his actions. He would keep in touch with his parents, letting them know that he was alright, while lying that he was still training. Of course he couldn't keep the guise up forever, and eventually came out; tell his parents what happened. His father offered to escort him back to Fortree City as he noticed how much his son had changed, but Orlando stated that he didn't have to, explaining that he had made a small life in Mauville. Eventually, he would make a delivery to the Verdanturf Town, only to be ambushed on his way back by a pochyenna. A Linoone would save him, belonging to a pokemon breeder that was nearby at the time. It wasn't until the Linoone seemed to become angry at him that Orlando realized that this was his old Zigzagoon. Of course the Pokemon Breeder would calm Linoone down, but Orlando would apologize, stating that he wasn't a good trainer or person. The Breeder would end up convincing Orlando to come with him to the Pokemon Daycare Center. Orlando would contact his boss, letting them know that he would be taking a short vacation, which was fine, since he worked so hard for so long. He would stay at the Daycare Center thanks to the Pokemon Breeder's suggestion to learn how pokemon act and feel. Eventually, his old Linoone would come to forgive him after Orlando spent some time with the pokemon. Still, at the end of the vacation, Orlando knew that Linoone was happier where she was. He was about to leave too when the Pokemon Breeder gave him an Egg that belonged to the Linoone. The Breeder stated that he wasn't a bad person and had learned from his old mistakes. Smiling, and thanking both the Breeder and his old Linoone, Orlando would walk home with the egg in tow.
It would be a while before the egg hatched, revealing a strange sight. It was a Zigzagoon, but it was of the Galar Variant. Of course, Orlando started to take care of this little pokemon, naming her Remmy. Of course, while Remmy was calmer than most Zigzagoons, the small pokemon had a tendency to rough house. Of course Orlando tried to avoid training her to battle, though the pokemon obviously had the nature and fortitude to do so. It wasn't until he learned of the new battle City in a far off region that he would decide to try, though he would need to travel to Lilycove City first. Instead of trying to push through, Orlando took his time, gaining the Trust and affection of Remmy as they continued through route 118. Once in Fortree City, he would learn that a Gloom had been seen being particularly aggressive to any pokemon trainer that walked through the route for the last few years, which his parents told him about. After stating his intentions, he told them that he had a feeling that he knew who the Gloom was. It wouldn't be long before Orlando encountered the Gloom, and once it saw him, he knew instantly that it was his first pokemon. Steadying himself; Orlando and Remmy would fight his old Gloom, several times Remmy almost fainted, but Orlando had learned from his time in traveling through route 118. Eventually, the pair won, before Orlando caught his old pokemon. Moving farther out away from the route, Orlando would release his old Gloom, apologizing and offering the pokemon a choice. It could be free to do as it wanted, or it could come with him to the battle city. The Gloom refused to leave, seeming to notice that Orlando had grown stronger in a way, and also seeming to be concerned about Remmy. With this, Orlando gave his old Pokemon a nickname; Gloomy.
Eventually Orlando would reach Lilycove city, and would board the ship towards his second chance. Towards Altair City, as Orlando began to wonder what it would be like. He had never left Hoenn, much less beyond Verdanturf city, Mauville City, and Fortree City. After a somewhat rough and long journey, Orlando would step off, his old Gloom standing beside him as he stepped off the boat.
