CORE INFO
Name: Brandon Diovaan
Alias(es): The Bloodiest Showsman
Gender: Male
Age: 19
APPEARANCE
Picture:
Physical Traits: Brandon Diovaan's body his mostly hidden by his clothes, which are showman like in every aspect. What lies under those clothes however is a different story. A story of a strong agile man who spent his entire life training his body to perform circus acts that would dazzle everyone, a man who does not need to be bulky to show that there is power behind purpose, each muscle that visibly shows on his body, perfectly toned to perform the acts that one would expect from anyone in the circus. His build even adds to this, seeming to be very normal, and average compared to stronger men.... but he is no mere man. Brandon Diovaan is roughly 6' 7" tall, with a sturdy build that is hidden by his clothing. His hair is short, wavy, and blonde, and his eyes are a pale green that seems almost unearthly. Lastly, his jawline seems made to be charismatic, a showman like smile that is near flawless, and a perfectly sharp face that fits well in a picture.
Clothes/Style: Brandon Diovaan wears the usual Victorian suit and vest, a very formal appearance that one would expect in Lantern. Where his style differs though is that the clothing is looser around the neck and wrists, baggy to the point that it almost seems to indicate a style of swagger that only add emphasis on his movements. On his left ear he has a single ear ring, and on each hand, on each finger, he wears a ring. He wears no top hat, but he does have a circus ring leader coat, that he usually wears almost like a cape or coat upon his shoulders. His collared boots shine as though polished every minute of the day, and a blue sash is worn around his belt, as if drawing attention to his figure. There is truly no one that can be this vain.... right?
PERSONALITY
Outer Persona: On the outside, Brandon Diovaan seems like a charismatic man, who knows how to create a show, and almost seems to know what the people wish to see. Able to capture a crowd, he is first a showman, and second an ring leader. When he talks, people tend to listen. Outside of the circus, Brandon is a charming fellow, civil, and always seeming to praise others for their appearance, personality, or style of living. He even shows heroics when faced with danger, saving his own circus members at times, in dare devil acts of bravery. He is the ring leader for a good reason.
Inner Persona: Diovaan is.... Troublesome..... As most of his circus men would say when they were absolutely certain that he was not around. He is not particularly violent, envious, or even greedy as some Ring leaders are. He gives credit where credit is due, and he rewards you fairly based upon what you have done. What makes him troublesome is how he can manipulate you into doing things that you wouldn't normally do. They would tell you that he has a way about him, that even if you say No to him, he'll find a way to get you to do something. He'll prey upon your desires, make promises that you know he will fulfill. He'll even put his own life on the line to see that you do as he says, not caring if he himself would get hurt. In a sense.... if he wasn't as charismatic as he was.... he'd be considered absolutely insane.
Core: Brandon is a man who believes that life is a show. He believes that to go through life as though you were simply living one day at a time would be torturous, and insane. He hates stagnation, safety, and idleness. There is always work to be done, another act to orchestrate, another daring stunt to perform. But before all that.... he desires something that no one dares to mention. He desires control of the pace of things. Safety does not bring control, it brings restrictions. Stagnation does not bring control, it brings sloth. Idleness does not bring masterpieces... it brings the death of the mind. He can be predictable, but he can be immensely unpredictable in his actions. He may save you, but at a cost that you never thought a sane person would do. He will always perform to his role and act, but he may throw you a curve ball on how he does it. He is a ring leader, and this is who Brandon Diovaan is. The Ringleader always knows the act before anyone else does.
BACKGROUND
Summary: Brandon Diovaan was an orphan who joined the Crimson Circus Troupe who performed throughout the districts of Lantern. After learning from the ringleader, he eventually became the ring leader for the circus, but orchestrated a massacre that put him on death row. He now awaits for his next big role.
History:
Brandon Diovaan was born an orphan within Lantern. He lived as a poor orphan scrounging off what he could find until he discovered the Crimson Circus Troupe. It was his encounter with them that would change his life. He was able to sneak in, watching the shows as they performed acts that amazed, and bewildered the audience. Little else needed to be said to the young boy, as he watched with anticipation as each daring act was performed after the last. It wasn't until the accident happened that he would suddenly feel that spark. The acrobat failed to grab on... and the net was not close enough to catch her fall. The sudden snapping of bones, and the splash of crimson in the spotlights appeared beautiful in the dust of the tent. An accident that was obviously only that, an accident. Nothing malicious about it... but it sparked an urge to see a show that would be considered forbidden by anyone who would even think of such a thing.
Before the Circus left the district, he would join them, wanting to replace the acrobat, and while the ring leader did not want him for that, he agreed. A new chore boy was all that he needed. Brandon would find himself worked to the bone, but still he watched each time they performed, and eventually he would learn the secrets of the trade, as the Ringleader began to grow older and sicker. At some point, he had not only learned to perform almost every trick in the circus act, he also learned how to become a showman like none other. By the time the ringleader passed, he was in charge of the Crimson Circus. He knew how to capture the eyes of the crowd, and he knew just how far he could push it... but nothing gave him satisfaction like that one day. He grew bored as the days went on. Act after act, promise after promise. Pushing to bring even more risks, just so that he could see that glorious and abrupt finale.
It wasn't until one night after a show that he would see it. A hunter, dragging along the head of a corpse of some sort of monstrosity through the alleyway, and then looking at Brandon with blatant disregard as though he was nobody. He was nobody. A ring leader yes, but for someone like that man to simply ignore him like he was a bird in the distance was.... it made him feel that spark again. Brandon had heard about the Hunters.... everyone had, and it would be this encounter that would grab his attention to decide upon something. A plan began to brew the greatest way to attract a crowd, as well as a the best possible way to end his old life. It would be on the headlines, he thought to himself. No one will see this finale coming. I can only imagine beautiful it shall be.
Brandon Diovaan, ringleader of the Crimson Circus, a circus that traveled from district to district. It was in the district where he first saw the circus that he began to orchestrate his biggest show yet. A show so grand that it would never be forgotten. He made sure that all of his employees were ready. They had concerns. So much could go wrong with this show. But Brandon Diovaan insisted that risks like this were needed to gather a crowd so immense that it would allow them to never have to travel as a circus again. The idea of a final show before retirement was all too promising for the entire crew. They agreed, and knew that Brandon would keep his promise. This would be their last show.
The show would begin, the sword swallower would take sword after sword, the acrobats would perform daring tricks that would make even the most skilled of acrobats think twice, tightrope walkers balanced and juggled fire and knives, Strongmen would push themselves beyond the limits of their strengths, and the tamers would bring their fiercest beasts out. All was going as planned, and the crowd loved every second of it. This was truly the beginning of the end of their time in the circus. The crowd was eating it up, the employees were working themselves, pushing their limits to the max, all for the effort to never have to work again. As the finale approached, the employees realized that Brandon had never filled them in on the ending of the show. He had always filled them in.... why had he not this time? As he saw the moment of confusion in their faces appear, as they pushed themselves to the brink of making mistakes.... he clapped his hands, and the show ended in Red.
The Sword Swallower suddenly felt dizzy, falling over as poison coated upon the blades not only caused a fatal ulcer, but also made him fall upon his belly, the blades rupturing his throat. The first scream started the chain reaction. The rods that the acrobats grabbed onto suddenly collapsed, falling apart as the screws came undone, the tightrope walkers suddenly found that their rope snapped under their feet, blades and flaming clubs falling with them, the strongmen suddenly having their weight shift under their feet crumpling like a sack of flour, the beast tamers, suddenly finding that their beasts were no cowering in fear... but were licking their chops as they pounced upon them. All while the ring leader watched in satisfaction. The greatest show of this circus, the greatest act.... was sabotage. His arrest was certain, and the evidence would be clear as day that he was the only one who had access to everything. It made the headlines of Lantern, the Bloodiest Showsman, as he was called. A man who orchestrated the bloodiest show that anyone could have imagined. A master who knew manipulation like no other.... and a man who would face his crimes with death, but Brandon knew that his show was just beginning.
