Physical Description: Arthur is a 5 foot 8 inches tall young Fortisan adult who appears to have fair skin, black unkempt and slightly wavy hair; with piercing green eyes. His body is fairly fit, though he does not have the broader shoulders and built upper body, though he does have a well trained body that is suitable for extended fights, and long distance marching and jogging. While his time in the Templars has not been long, he does have several scars along his sides, legs, arms, and back from various fights with monsters, though they are mostly minor scars.
Clothing: Arthur's casual clothing while he is not on duty usually consists of light, comfortable cotton shirts, linen pants, and leather shoes. The colors do not tend to matter, but he's partial to a dull yellow color for shirts, as with his Templar uniform. Arthur's Templar uniform consists of dark brown leather and cloth padding; with a dull yellow tunic layer that blends into the dried grasslands of Certa. Along with a cloth of molted green color that can be used to assist in forest camouflage. Along with that, his uniform includes metal plated bracers, shin plates, a breastplate, and a singular large conclave shoulder plate. When out, he does carry his templar service pack, which includes tent tarp, sleeping bag, basic supplies, canteen, and rations.
Armor: Any Armor? If so, use the following spoiler to list and describe each piece.
[spoil]Armor Type: Steel Breastplate
Appearance: A steel breastplate issued to most basic soldier. This breastplate protects vital organs such as the heart, and lungs, while leaving the lower half free to a full range of movement needed for monster fighting. This plate has evident scratches, some more evident than others, but most showing signs of being actively maintained.
Armor History: One of the first pieces of armor that he was ever given via the Templars.
Armor Type: Steel Bracers
Appearance: Bracers attached to combat gloves that aid in protecting the user's wrists from direct damage, and can deflect minor blows if utilized correctly. The design prevents some damage to the back of the hand, but is unable to protect the underside of the arm, but allows for an effective range of movements. This bracer shows evident scratches, and a few stains of faded rust or blood splatters.
Armor History: One of the first pieces of armor that he was ever given via the Templars
Armor Type: Steel Shin Plates
Appearance: Steel plates that are attached to combat boots that protects the user's shins, but leave the back exposed. Made to prevent frontal attacks towards the legs from severing or cutting tendons. The back side is unfortunately exposed to allow for a range of needed and required movements. This armor piece has evident scratches, and has a few repaired dents.
Armor History: One of the first pieces of armor that he was ever given via the Templars
Armor Type: Steel Shoulder Plate
Appearance: A singular convex shoulder plate situated upon the shield arm. Larger than the typical shoulder plate, this plate is made to help prevent injuries to the wear's shoulders that would hamper or disable the user's shield arm. Higher ranking officers are often given a pair as opposed to a singular plate. This plate has a sizable dent on the backside, and scratches that show how often and effectively it is used.

Weapons: Any Weapons? If so, use the following spoiler to list and describe them:
[spoil]Weapon Name: Templar's Shortsword
Appearance: A basic standard issued shortsword used by most infantry and units for Templars, and acts as a suitable backup when the enemy slips past a spearhead.
Weapon History: Issued to him via the Templars.
Weapon Name: Templar's Spear
Appearance: A basic standard issued spear utilized mostly by Fortisan Templars for both attack and defensive formations. Made to help fight monsters, the shafts are reinforced to allow for the shaft to be used as a makeshift pike if stabilized into the ground.
Weapon History: Issued to him via the Templars upon entering Lancelot's unit.
Weapon Name: Templar's Knife
Appearance: A standard issued ballistic knife that is issued to every templar soldier. The blade is designed to aid in general survival and as a last resort weapon should all other means of defense be compromised. The knife has an emergency function that allows for a high compressed spring to be released upon a button press to launch the knife's blade at a high velocity with two meters. This is suggested to be used as an absolute last resort action, as it takes considerable time to reset the spring and reattach the blade.
Weapon History: Issued to him via the Templars after completing basic training.[/spoil]
Miscellaneous Equipment/Items: Any items you may carry around that serve a function other than as armor or weapon.
[spoil]Item/Function: Standard Issue Knapsack
Appearance: The standard issue knapsack that contains most equipment that templars use for expeditions. Large enough to allow for rations, canteens, rope, and basic survival gear any Templar soldier could need. Includes straps along the bottom of the knapsack to secure sleeping bags, and tent tarps.
Item History: Issued by the Templars to soldiers
Item/Function: Canteen of Dragon's Blood
Appearance: A specially marked canteen that contains the blood of a dragon.
Item History: The canteen is from his fallen comrade, and good friend Yorik Gonova, to contain the blood of a dragon that he encountered in his last mission with the Lancelot Unit.
Item/Function: What is the item and its' typical purpose?
Appearance: What does your item look like?
Item History: How did you obtain your item?[/spoil]
Bonded Object
Object - Arthur's Warhammer
Appearance - A Warhammer made for Arthur as a gift from his family. The warhammer is made from steel, with a square shaped hammer head. The backside of the head has a thick spike that can be used to puncture armor or flesh alike, and is long enough to easily pierce vital organs with a well developed swing. Steel langets guard, and prevent attackers from slicing or chopping the shaft holding the head of the hammer off, while also stabilizing the head and absorbing some of the shock. The handle itself is made of wood char treated wood with grooves along the bottom and mid point to allow for a more secured grip. The size of this weapon can allow Arthur to use it one handed or two handed if need be, measuring roughly 30 inches (2.5 feet/0.762 meter) long. Of course with that said, using this weapon one handed while it does allow for significantly higher strike speed, does reduce it's strike force by an equal measure. Lastly, the weapon only weighs slightly more than the average sword.
[spoil][/spoil]
Source of Bond - Arthur's first weapon, given to him when he finished his basic school training by his father and brother as a gift. Arthur only recently bonded with the item due to how much the weapon meant to him growing up, of heroes who would smite down evil and overcome the odds that his father told him about in fortisan stories. Though Arthur now knows better, the emotional weight that this object carries represents his family's efforts to ensure that he would become a hero in his own right. With the death of his allies in the Corrupted Leyline, this is made all the more significant, as Arthur developed the Smite ability in the middle of his battle in the leyline.
Powers Choose a maximum of 3 to start, remember the powers must be related to the object thematically, and the stronger the power the more severe the drawbacks should be
Ability Name: Smite
Ability Description: Arthur can choose to activate his ability to double the impact damage, force, and speed of his warpick swing, all while charging it with a large chunk of Mystic Energy. When the attack hits an object, whether enemy or not, it will send the payload of mystic energy into his target with twice the force of his attack, meaning that if Arthur lands a blow on a weak spot that would normally crack under the attack normally, it will instead double that damage. The effect of smite is so condensed that most attempts to disperse the effect have little to no effect if defended against conventionally.
Ability Drawbacks: Smite drains a large chunk of Arthur's mystic reserves, and while he can charge the attack, he will continue to drain energy if he does not strike something while gaining no extra power. This ultimately caps Arthur's Smite to only be twice as strong as his initial strike is. What's more if Arthur charges for a smite, he cannot actively release or deactivate the ability; which can lead him to being forced to expel the energy into something. In short, when he charges a Smite, he has to use that charge no matter what or risk draining all his mystic energy. Lastly, the energy density of a Smite strike is able to be seen as a visible distortion of his weapon, giving those who know what to look for an idea of what's about to happen. What's more, if a strike of similar magnitude intercepts the strike, it can cause a shockwave that can blow Arthur back if he doesn't mystically reinforce himself.
Ability Name: Brittle Strike
Ability Description: Arthur's attacks with his warpick can cause various problems for the defenses of those that he targets, and acts as an active debuff which stacks the more he strikes his enemies. Each strike upon a part of his enemy will cause that particular area where the strike landed to become effectively weaker and more vulnerable to further strikes. This eventually allows Arthur to do things such as punching through armor, breaking bones, walls, or even break mystical barriers or other solid things that his hammer can interact with. This in combination with a Smite can cause immense amounts of damage if timed right.
Ability Drawbacks: Due to the nature of Brittle Strike, Arthur must strike the same spot at least three times before the effects begin to bear fruit, and even then it could take anywhere from five to twenty strikes before he can render the object weak enough to break in one blow. The general consensus is that organics such as scales, teeth, claws, bone, and chitin take less strikes to deal significant damage, as opposed to non-organic objects taking significantly more strikes to render weak enough to deal lasting damage. Another downside is that if the enemy has a form of regeneration, then it can delay the effect even further.
--Important Information--
Personality: Arthur is a person who dreams of being a hero. It has ultimately been his life's goal, and even now is what he strives for. Often times he appears confident, and can almost seem to lighten anyone's day or rally a force to do the impossible, or simply just be a helpful, kind, and polite person who doesn't seem to let his pride go to his head, staying humble even when he's complimented for something. Other times, he's seen as someone who cannot stand the injustice that occurs around him, challenging those who would actively harm or purposefully exploit others in front of him. This duality makes it clear that Arthur isn't afraid to speak up when he wants to about what he believes, and while in normal conversation he does seem somewhat awkward, in moments where a clear head and courage are needed, Arthur is often the first one to step up to the call. He isn't one to call attention to himself needlessly, and it's even seen that he doubts himself, his abilities, and his natural talents, often times saying that it was what anyone would do, when that's not the case. Arthur strives to be a hero, and is a prime example that heroics don't need to be flashy, grand, or even be told to others, but that they should shape our morals, and standards to strive for.
Likes: Pimento Green Olives, slightly sour things, roasted asparagus, Heroic actions, True Heroes, Humility, happy endings
Dislikes: Overly sweet things, undercooked Onions, Injustice, True Cowards, Nobles, Greed, Sadism, General disregard for humans, and villainous tactics.
Strengths: Arthur strives to be a hero. Not only in title, but in action as well. He strives to push himself, as well as promoting others to try their hardest, and push themselves towards a goal that is just and righteous. He has strong ties with those he bonds with, whether they be family, friends, allies, those that he saves, or even comrades that he fights with. He believes in the ideal of heroism, never backing down if he can help it, and showing courage where others might falter. His determination to push not only himself but those around him to be their best selves, innately makes him a profound leader, even if he refuses to admit it due to his humble nature. This leads him to be a person who will listen to anyone in need, offer solutions to their troubles, or even just be there when they need someone.
Weaknesses: Arthur is ultimately a dreamer. While he holds good intentions, he often times tries to prevent anything bad from happening in general, though as the saying goes, "you can't be in two places at the same exact time.", and "You can't be everyone's hero." He is somewhat gullible due to his nature of being a dreamer; and can be mislead indirectly into doing something he truly thought was good. He also cannot stand injustice anymore, holding grudges and distrust against nobles specifically due to the nature of his experiences with the Templars and with Lancelot himself. He does get emotional, and even frustrated when he cannot do what is right, and is prone to not listening to reason when in such states. Aside from this, he generally tends to be introverted, seeming to be somewhat sheepish at first, and only opening up when there is common ground. He also constantly judges or berates himself for things that were not in his control, or for things that have already passed in hindsight.
Skills: Arthur has gained the skill set that any Templar may need, from surviving in the wilderness, to basic first aid, weapon and armor maintenance, weapon training, monster identification, and even improvised combat. On the personal side, he does have the ability to read maps and literature, experiments with cooking (though he often leaves himself the lab rat for his inventions), has heightened endurance from his training, is an adept at spears, and swords; but is nearly a master with the Warpick. He has even begun to work on using mystical enhancement, though he does still need work on maintaining those bursts of power efficiently.
Talents: Arthur has a talent for leadership, combat, analyzing, stratagem, and teamwork. However, he does not have a knack for these things, often times believing that he is rather lacking in those aspects. He does have a knack for rallying allies, promoting good deed, and inspiring those around them to act upon their better selves.
Motto: "I will be the Hero that no one else will be."
Goal: To become the Hero that tears away the falsehoods that the nobles have built around themselves.
Music Video: If you have a song, you may place it here.
History: Arthur Canardne' was born to a family who lived in the capital of Fortis, a family that worked for a living, but never wanted for more than they had. In all honesty, Arthur's life was pretty normal. He wasn't born into a noble house, he wasn't born into poverty. The third son of the Canard family, Arthur is also the youngest of his family, left in the footsteps of his older sister and brother. His sister helps to make money for the family by selling bread with their mother; while his elder brother aids his father as a factory worker. If anything, Arthur should have also followed in some manner of way to finding a trade as an apprentice. He did of course choose, but his choice was shaped by something else. While his sister was always helping her mother, and his brother was always trying to help his father any way he could, Arthur was mostly left to his own devices. While he did not dive into the attention seeking activities that would obviously catch the ire of his father and mother; he did play soldier out with his friends, going through the town to watch the parades, and hear the stories of soldiers who fought the evil monsters that existed outside of the walls of the capital. Sure, he kept up with helping his father and mother in their household, but Arthur's ultimate choice to join the Templars was his own choice. While his family was ultimately unsure, they did not discourage him, but rather made it a point to push him forward towards his goals. They didn't cheer him on, but they did attempt to make him aware that his goals would be difficult, and that there would be times where he would be pushed farther than ever before. His father would take time after work to help train him, his mother would become stricter than usual. This sister and brother would also pick at him, pushing his buttons, but always helped him whenever he needed. In a sense, the ultimately helped to get him use to the life he would pursue. This was only proven true when he finally became of age, and became a Templar's apprentice. Where others might find the tasks of an apprentice to be pointless, tougher than usual, or even difficult to deal with emotionally; Arthur found that he took this in stride. Thus, he quickly rose past his apprenticeship quickly.
Ultimately though, Arthur would become a member of the Templar.... and it was then that he realized something. It was true, the Templars did fight monsters outside the capitols walls, heroes did exist, and there were parades to celebrate the nobles that had tales of valor and courage to share.... except that was also the problem.... namely the Nobles. Arthur discovered quickly that a Templar's duty was indeed to the protect the people, but the needs of the people came after the Nobles. Nobles had habits. They wanted things, things that did not benefit the people, and only pronounced their vices. Greedy people who turned a profit by exploiting others with "protection". Envious Nobles who desired things that they couldn't have, but strove for them in a manner that showed who they really were. Even the Heroes who he thought were the definition of what it meant to be a knight of Fortis. However, as time passed, and he was moved from detachment to detachment; he discovered who these heroes were. Nobles who were only heroic for their own means. Who strove for fame so much, that they stripped or tricked the troops below them into letting them take credit for deeds that these "Heroes" didn't even do. Slowly, but surely Arthur became disillusioned by what he experienced, and saw. Still.... He strove to move on. He wanted to become like Lancelot Jerkin, a hero who strove to take on the most difficult of tasks that threatened the kingdom of Fortis and it's people. This motivation to become a hero outweighed the problems that plagued his minds in regards to what he saw. Of course Arthur also found that nobles had one other flaw that he found beyond irritating. They had no respect for anyone below their titles or rank. There were those who did care for their troops, and those who did care for the people, but they were only of certain rare houses. Most nobles did not care, and sometimes even did things out of spite. The reason why Arthur moved about from company to company was due to this. Arthur didn't want to let them take credit for things that they didn't do, but when they caught wind of his efforts, they would move him to another company. That wasn't to say that he didn't find camaraderie along the way. He often times didn't move onto a new company without someone else joining him, or if they couldn't then they gave him a good ship off. Of course this trend of consistent individuals that joined him in moving from company to company also helped give him people to fight for, as well as a reason to continue to strive to improve. While others had items that bonded to them, often times giving them an advantage in some way, Arthur had no such thing, and eventually began to improve his own fighting skill, gaining particular talent with various weapons from spears and pikes, to shortswords, and even warhammers. He did this all while continuing to move, and while his continued success in his short assignments didn't give him much in terms of reputation; it did eventually catch the eye of his Hero, Lancelot. A recent fight had made a dent into Lancelot's platoon, and Lancelot was looking for Templars who were young and looking to prove themselves.
Of course Arthur would join this. It was his dream in a sense. To follow a hero that he had idolized when he was younger, listening to any tale of his heroic exploits, the monsters he slew, and the innumerable people that he saved. Surely, Lancelot Jerkin was the Hero that everyone said he was, and for a while Arthur believed it whole heartedly. Sure, Lancelot did send templars ahead to weaken monsters before he approached with the killing blow. Sure, he did have moments where it was clear that he held no respect for women. Sure.... There were times where he would fall back before his men, but he was the platoon leader, without Lancelot they wouldn't be able to make a comeback...... Except, this trend of flaws, and falsehoods only began to grow. Lancelot was a noble..... A member of the Jerkin Family, A womanizer, an alcoholic at times, a man who honestly didn't care if a man died for his home, or his country.... or even a friend. To Lancelot, his troops were just that, troops. He was married, but he held no care for his wife, or even the women that he slept with. He struck officers who dared to question his "wisdom", and called out those who even dared to imply that he was a coward. Of course that last one was reasonable. No Hero would ever want to be called a coward, especially if it wasn't true. Lancelot did fight. He did strive to defeat monsters that plagued the villages, but after he would often times require a feast, or call those he saved "ungrateful". There were many nights where Arthur wouldn't partake in these feasts, and his allies didn't either, opting to stand watch for threats that would approach because of the noise or smell of food. Sure, Lancelot never ordered his men to attack people, and he never ordered them to turn those who needed help away.... but he never made it a point to help those who were in dire need. Starving people who were not under monstrous threat were left begging. Children who lost parents to monsters were not given homes, or new families. That wasn't Lancelot's "Problem" to attend to. That was the role of the Fortis law to handle. Still.... Even after this, Arthur simply decided that Lancelot was just human. A noble, yes, but human. After all, he had a kingdom to defend from monsters after all. He couldn't help everyone who needed help. He was just one man.
So Arthur continued to work under him, serving nearly 7 straight months under his banner. He lost comrades, even trying to save those who were clinging onto life. He watched as troops lost life and limb, those who were unable to fight were sent home with a piece of themselves missing, mentally or physically. Other times they were sent home with cloth over their bodies, and faces. All for the sake of..... For the sake of what? Lancelot strove to fight monsters, that was a noble cause... but there were times where he would send his platoon into places that they had no business being in. Nests of Lashers so far away from any settlement that it made no sense to attack them without provocation. Naga Coves that would have been better left undisturbed that were so far from ship lanes or fishing towns that it made no sense to even bother raiding. Even Aeriokats, monsters that rarely ever caused problems with humans directly, choosing to live in prey rich forests as opposed to hunting livestock; were indiscriminately hunted if there was so much as even a rumor of their presence. There were even times where the platoon was sent to areas where monsters were rumored to be, only to discover that it had come from a drunkard, or an old man recalling an event that happened years ago, and had been resolved. Lancelot didn't care about his troops, the people he used, or even those he helped. He cared about his image. Lancelot the Heart Piercing Blade of the Templars. Slayer of a Thousand Monstrosities, and more! Arthur considered resigning from the Templars several times. Only staying because he didn't want to abandon the few friends he had made along the way, people who actually believed in what they were doing.
So Arthur kept telling himself that Lancelot was a hero. He was a symbol of the Templars Oath to defeat any monster that reared it's head at humanity. However, it wouldn't be long before he would realize a truth that would break him. Lancelot had heard rumor of a dragon. Old, last seen flying over towards the wastelands where countless battles between Pulic and Fortis, and even where the death of a Harbinger had scarred the land far beyond recovery. Following his chance to be called Lancelot the Dragonheart, Arthur followed his hero into the wastes. The monsters he faced there were unlike any before. He had heard of Revenants, but never of what they could do. He had never heard of Weepers, but quickly found out the dangers they presented to the unwary. Monster after monster, each almost fueling Lancelot's drive to find any trace of this dragon. Eventually, the platoon discovered a cavern, the last place where the dragon was said to have even been remotely seen heading towards. This cavern was the place, "I can feel it! Within shall be the Dragon, sleeping from it's reign of terror, nearing the end of it's rest, and it shall find itself waking not to the sound of it's belly crying for blood; but that of the sound of my blade piercing it's cold blackened HEART!", Lancelot would say, as he attempted to rally the remains of his platoon, all still ready to fight for Fortis to defend it from a threat, some gone, but NEVER forgotten. It was an agreement that each Templar had made with each other. At this point, many were questioning Lancelot's sanity in mutterings far where even Lancelot's trusted stood. Arthur even had his doubts. Still, they all agreed, and they all strove forward into the depths of that cavern.... If only they knew what had awaited them, maybe they could have told Lancelot to send scouts, MAYBE they could have convinced the knight that the dragon would never nest in such a hostile environment. No, they strove on. For Fortis.
It was only when they were well into the Cavern, that they realized what danger they were in. A sickening sensation would crawl over them, monsters would come from the shadows, stronger than anything the platoon had ever faced before! Terrors that seemed to know just how to catch you off guard, to give you a blow that even if it was a flesh wound, would prove fatal. It was as this chaos devolved, that Arthur saw something. He watched as Lancelot, realizing the actual danger that he was in as he watched Templar after Templar fall, had gathered his strongest and most loyal members to defend him as he retreated. More than three quarters of their force was being left behind for bait, or dying. Any that attempted to follow in retreat were shot or cut down. Another body for the horrors to feast upon. His final illusion was shattered violently. Rage that had been bottling up, boiling behind this illusion finally let loose now at this obvious betrayal towards the very men he swore to fight for, and with side by side. They were scapegoats left behind to allow this..... Coward..... To live. Letting loose the fury within, Arthur not only cut down beast after beast, but began to rally those who remained, friends who he had made so many months ago, comrades who he had gained respect for in Lancelot's platoon. He strove to fight not for a Noble, but for those he felt brotherhood with. Monster after horrid monster, they fought on, being forced deeper into the cavern. Where they would cut down one monster, two more would appear. Still, they fought on, Arthur trying to fight off each monster and horror who attacked him or his companions. Each time one of his comrades or friends fell, he would feel that rage burning again, fueling his drive to defend the others. Eventually the tide began to stem. The horrors no longer able to keep supplying their seemingly endless numbers. However, with each five they killed, another of his comrades would fall..... Eventually though, they would find the end. And it is here, with his last three comrades in arms, and long time friends, that he would encounter something that would change his entire life.... for better... or worse. They would enter the Dying Dragon's Lair.
Stats
Level - Your level represents your overall ability in comparison to others. These levels grant a general sense of your character's overall strength in comparison to others. Each level up is a larger gap than the last. (the gap between a 4 and a 5 is larger than a 1 and a 2, and the gap between 6 and 7 even greater still). Which is not to say a level 4 cannot beat a level 5 under the right circumstances (or any other example, 3 beating a 4, 5 beating a 6, etc...).
Stat Graph -
[spoil]
[/spoil]
This is where a picture of your radar graph will go for your stats. Stats are NOT COMARIATIVE, meaning that the radar is more a means to get a general measure of your overall strengths and weaknesses. Moderators/Co-Moderators can handle creating the graph in your stead, but for those who wish to make it themselves we provide this link. chachart.net/radar?lang=en
Physical
Strength: 7
- pretty self explanatory here, how much you can lift, how hard you punch, etc...
Speed: 6
- Also pretty simple, some people are faster than others, especially in this world where mystic energies can enhance your speed or reflexes greatly.
Durability: 10
- both a measure of how long you can fight without getting fatigued, and just how much punishment your character can withstand before going down
Skill : 8
- How good you are with your equipment. Are you a master of a sword? Or maybe you're a marksman who can shoot off the wing of a fly without killing it from a mile away? This stat reflects that.
Spiritual
Intelligence: 5
- very self explanatory for the most part. This stat also affects how much information you can get out of me or a mod in various situations. An intelligent character will notice more of the results of their actions for example, or be better at sizing up an enemy NPC, getting more accurate and precise information on their stats. An unintelligent character may misjudge an enemy, or perceive their actions and the results of them incorrectly (or simply not notice things)
Mystic Reserves: 4
- The amount of mystic energy your body produces and/or can access. This stat is like strength, but for your abilities
Channeling : 2
- How well you can utilize your Mystic Reserves efficiently. It tends to act as a form of endurance for your abilities, but it can also be utilized to grant an increase to your physical abilities. Humans cannot naturally tap into their mystic reserves without bonded objects, or training, and as such this stat mainly affects your abilities. Humans who have received special training can utilize channeling to enhance their physical abilities like monsters, but this requires much more focus upon the human's part as opposed to monsters, and cannot be used passively without abilities.
