Tall, muscular and strapping, Benjiro stands at 6'5" and wields a body of toned muscles underneath pale skin. He is a handsome man with a chiseled jaw, pleasing facial features and a scar that crosses the bridge of his nose. His hair is black and shaved short, save for a white tuft of fringe right at the front of his forehead.
Civilian Clothes
Benjiro is quite fashionable, though mostly because he is given free outfits to wear in exchange for sponsorship and product placement.
Hero Outfit
Hero Outfit
Strive wears a skin-tight black suit, with a thick collar and full-length sleeves. His right arm is covered by a light-weight but durable metal, flexible and sturdy. His other arm ends in a fingerless glove, with the sleeve right down to his wrist. Around his waist, Strive has a utility belt containing a few items that benefit him as a hero.
The Shield of Justice
Strive wields a round metal shield that is slung across his back. It is an item he can use with his quirk for transport, as it has the ability to extend into a longer board-shape. The shield is fitted with magnetic technology that matches his arm, allowing him to recall it from within a hundred feet if he throws it.
Utility Belt
Containing a first aid kit with medical supplies, a selection of weighted ball-bearings, a pen and a small pad of paper.
Bad Habits
Giddy Optimism
Benjiro always sees the best in every situation. Even in the worst circumstance, he puts on a smile and laughs in the face of danger.
Trusting Nature
Benjiro also sees the best in everyone, even villains. He will always try and solve conflict by talking first, unless it is truly dire. He has full trust in other heroes and allies, despite what happened with his uncle and parents.
Selfless Acts
Benjiro won't hesitate to throw himself in front of danger or into harm's way if it means saving someone.
Goal
To stop those who look to harm others
To be a Symbol of Peace
To always wear a smile and make others smile back
General Personality
Benjiro is an upbeat, positive and charismatic man. His attitude is all about being the beacon of happiness and laughter in a situation, especially in moments of dire pain and stress. His attitude, which he absorbed from his dad, is that people need a smile. When things look bad, in disasters and darkness, it is the ones who smile which lift the spirits and hearts of those around them.
It is not a real wonder why Benjiro has been the Symbol of Peace for Japan, and why his name is spoken with reverence on a global scale. His is an attitude that encompasses a True Hero, a day-to-day approach to life and the world that lifts the spirits of other heroes and dampens that of villains. Benjiro holds truth and justice above all else, and strives to bring both of them to anyone who dares muddy either.
Benjiro is a selfless being. Everything he does, he does for friends, allies or even strangers on the street. He will readily throw himself in harm's way if it could save someone else from pain. Benjiro invests all of his time into being a hero, rarely taking a moment for himself. Whether it be training, civilian outreach, volunteering or good old fashioned Hero work, Benjiro is always working to either better himself for the sake of justice, or helping others to do the same.
Resolute and determined, Benjiro never backs down from his ideals, or from a fight. He sees the world in a kind of black and white; either you are a good person, or you're not. Villains, heroes, Vigilantes... labels like these don't actually mean much to Benjiro. He sees actions as the thing to judge a person on, what they do in a time of need. That said, if there is someone who puts others at risk, Benjiro won't hesitate to stop them in their tracks.

History
Benjiro and his twin sister, Choyaku, were born into a family of Heroes. Their mother, father and uncle were part of the hero team The Resolutes, a group of six who tackled major villain groups all across Japan. Benjiro watched his parents from the home of their grandmother, and was in awe from an easly age. He thought heroes were so amazing, and the Resolutes were so brave, selfless and strong! Benjiro knew that he wanted to be a hero just like them, following in his parent's footsteps and saving people with a smile.
His sister was not so amored by the hero lifestyle. She saw instead that their parents had left them in the care of their grandmother while they gallivanting across Japan, barely seeing their children. It put a rift between Benjiro and Choyaku, and the two had a strained relationship as children. It seemed like his sister was growing anti-hero with every passing day, something Benjiro couldn't comprehend!
When they turned 11, their parents and the Resolutes were decimated by a villain attack. Only their uncle escaped with his life. Japan was in shock, mourning the loss of a popular and seemingly unbeatable team. How could a villain be able to defeat them? Benjiro and Choyaku both found sorrow in different ways, and it was the final stretch of their relationships downfall. Choyaku began to actively hate heroes and hero society, whereas Benjiro was more determined than ever to be the kind of hero people could look up to.
"Breaking news tonight, as the pro-hero Finite, the last surviving member of the Resolutes, who were killed recently in a devastating villain attack, was apprehended by the Number Four hero for commiting murder, robbery and arson. It has come to light that Finite, who now demands he is called by his real name of Termination, was working with a villain group for a while now, and ultimately was the reason that the Resolutes met their demise. More details are on their way, but we expect this disgraced hero to be sent to Tartarus for the rest of his life."
Benjiro was in shock. His uncle, a member of the Resolutes... he had actually been a villain this whole time. Not only that, but he had betrayed his parents and led them to their deaths. How could someone so young cope? Choyaku certainly didn't, leaving one morning and never returning to their grandparent's home. Benjiro, however, found strength in the dire news. It just meant that more true-hearted heroes were needed. It just meant that he had to be one of them, and show others what it meant to be a hero like his parents had been!
Dear Benjiro,
If you are reading this, then I am so sorry. Your mother and I are no longer here. Just know we gave our lives for you and your sister, so you could live in a world free of villainy and injustice. Don't be too upset. Don't wallow in sadness. Strive! You always wanted to be a hero like us. With your heart, you can do just that.
Look after your sister.
Dad
Benjiro didn't let anything hold him back. He studied hard at school, never slowing down as he trained and studied hard. He was accepted into U.A. after a stellar performance in the entrance exam, and was granted a place in 1-A. Benjiro was a dutiful student, a strong ally and above all a wholesome, charismatic boy. His quirk was strong but needed training, and Benjiro never held back against his peers and teachers. He made a name for himself, both through the Sport's Festival and with his internships, and pro-heroes were clamouring to have him come work for them.
He made many friends over his school year. Moonbeam, Giga Bite, even foreign exchange students who went on to become top heroes of their own, like Sizzle and King. He also made a close friend and ally in a boy named Ma, who had incredibly synergy with Strive and who he formed a hero team with in their third year of U.A., Team Showtime, which they continued on and off in the following years of pro-hero work.
Benjiro graduated top of his class. Off the bat he set up a hero agency, and it was less than a year of his role that he was voted as the Number One Hero of Japan. The pro-hero roster had been fluctuating for a while, with no one standing out for long, but this new young hero with a powerful name, Strive, and determined, plucky attitude made an impact.
Strive held the number one spot for the next ten years. He set up the Resolute Heroes Agency, bringing in the best and brightest to aid him in bringing peace to Japan. Under his tireless efforts, the crime rate dropped by 15% over a decade. Now he maintains his course, named the Symbol of Peace by most, feared by villains and admired by heroes and civilians alike. He strives to protect everyone that he can!

Gearshift

Power
Benjiro can control the speed and trajectory of an object that he touches!
Supermoves
Supermoves
First through Fifth Gear
Each gear represents a different speed. First Gear is the slowest; used on himself it makes him faster than human speed. It is the gear he can use consecutively for the longest time. Fifth Gear makes him incredibly fast, but can only be used in short bursts before having to drop down a gear.
Hard Brake
Benjiro can reduce an object's speed and trajectory to zero, stopping them dead in their tracks.
Transmission
Benjiro shifts up a gear via a series of punches, allowing him to reach fifth gear and use it without having to rest as long. Because he shifts up his gears and then back down to zero in a short time, his cells don't have to overwork themselves and he avoids having to have downtime. However he needs to land a blow with each gear shift with this supermove, otherwise his quirk might stall.
Overdrive
Benjiro pushes his limits to put his quirk into absolute Overdrive, a level beyond fifth gear. It allows him to essentially become a blur to the naked eye, travelling at such insane speeds and throwing barrage of so many punches that sometimes even sound can't keep up with him. Using Overdrive puts him into a state of paralysis however, and he has no choice but to recharge for a while afterwards.
Drawbacks
Gearshift only works on objects that Benjiro touches, and only one object at a time. He can only affect inanimate objects, the only exception being himself. Using high gears or Overdrive for too long means he is forced into a state where he has to rest before he even moves, a final gambit that overclocks his very cells and leave him vulnerable afterwards.
Benjiro can't skip a gear, and has to run through each consecutive speed to reach higher gears. If he has exterior momentum, then he can sometimes skip one or two, but he has to be in motion from another force. He can Hard Brake from higher gears, but it has the potential to stall his quirk and leave him vulnerable for a time.
Fighting Style
Strive is a brawler, a close-quarters combat expert who gets in close and overwhelms his opponents with speed and power. He utilises his quirk to make his attacks fast, strong and brutally swift. Strive uses his quirk with his shield to travel around cities and the country, always chasing the next villain. He never backs down from a fight, not when there are the lives of others on the line. While he has a mind for tactics during a fight, Strive tends to throw that out the window and rely instead on his insane combat abilities.
