Common Info
Name: Diego Barbosa
Alias: The Pugnacious Pugilist
Titles: Captain, Devil Fruit Hunter, Martial Artist
Race: Longleg Tribe
Gender: Male
Age: 28
Place of Origin: Samba Kingdom (South Blue)
Bounty: N/A
Physical Info
Visual Picture:
Physical description: Diego is a man nearly eight feet tall, though at least a foot of that comes from the extra length of his legs that come from being of the longleg tribe. Still, even legs aside, he is a big man, full of powerful, bulging muscles that make his body a solid, imposing mass to many despite having what more than a few would consider a strong and handsome face. A single strand of blond hair sticks out from a head that is otherwise completely bald, curling over his forehead, but a bushy, well-maintained handlebar mustache is quite prominent on his upper lip, of the same color as his one piece of head hair. He does have a few scars but all in places that are typically covered by clothes and none are particularly notable or nasty, and his skin, despite years now spent on the sea, is more pale than one would expect, but not in an unhealthy way, he's just naturally that light-skinned. Though it's not uncommon for it to be gleaming a little with sweat from the day's exercise.
Clothes: Most often he is in uniform, though he often forgoes the coat that comes with his rank, finding it a cumbrance to the typical day to day routine on his ship. Only when the situation absolutely requires formality does he wear it, though in such cases he is quite capable of adding some frills in his own style that don't quite defy dress code but suggest to some he might have hints of a noble background.
Defining feature: Aside from his nearly bald, gleaming head, he has a deep belly laugh, "BROUHAHA," that sounds suspiciously like a word for turmoil or excited interest. It usually only comes out when he is challenged to a fight, whether for a spar or in earnest.
Personal Items: The only item he cherishes enough to keep around is a recipe book, full of his mother's old hand-written recipes from when he was a child.
Personal Info
Personality: Diego is a man who above all else strongly believes in personal fitness and self-discipline. Exercise daily (except when you need to rest to recover from illness or injury), avoid eating or drinking to excess, especially avoid excess vices such as cigarettes, alcoholic beverages, or other addictive substances. He is proud of the physique he's earned through many years of such work and discipline, though he understands sometimes the importance of letting go and just having a good time with food and friends, as long as one does not make a habit of doing it too often. He doesn't often tell jokes or smile, but he shows his appreciation for those around him in other ways, protecting his crew from both foes and overzealous allies alike, enjoying himself at the occasional celebration, and overall, adhering to the same standards he demands of those under his command.
Morals: Everyone should be able to strive to be the best they can, whether that is in physical fitness, gaining knowledge and wisdom, or even just being the best at a game they happen to enjoy. Whatever they are good at, whatever they have a passion or ambition for, they deserve the chance to grow and improve and become better at it, so long as it isn't explicitly at the expense of another's potential. And if that passion is to be a marine, and they aren't being allowed to be the best they can be due to prejudice from race, having fruit powers, or being former pirates (or other ex-criminals) wanting to turn over a new leaf, he'll take them on himself if he can.
Passion: Aside from his personal passion for fitness, and the challenges of growing stronger as well as a more skilled pugilist, he also has a passion for cooking that is both nutritious and delicious. On rare occasions when he is not needed for anything, one might find him in the galley whipping up a little something, especially when it's time to celebrate a victory or such.
Loathe: Bullies. He absolutely cannot stand bullies--and he tends to view racists, and most pirates, as bullies. Bullying wastes the potential of both bully and victim, alike. For a similar reason, he also loathes an unwillingness to grow and try new strategies in the pursuit of ones' goals. What potential is there in just doing the same thing all the time, every time? That leads to stagnation, the final thing he absolutely loathes! A win isn't really a win in his eyes if it doesn't accomplish something new or worthwhile in the process.
He also is quite annoyed with the alias people have given him, he does not view himself as especially unnecessarily combative, so to be called pugnacious feels like an insult.
Flaw: There is a crack in his absolute devotion to fitness or trying something new--some old foods he loved as a child that he still has a soft spot for. When overly stressed or even sometimes when just missing home, he has a craving for fried, greasy foods--specifically fries. Pot pies are good too, but french fries are his true comfort food (might have something to do with his mother's willingness to feed them to her children growing up), and he wishes he could beat this craving. But...they are just too tasty, and too much a reminder of the home he grew up in.
Also, he may struggle a little from time to time trusting long-arm tribesmen and women, but he's working hard on this one, and if they prove themselves he'll still take them on in his crew.
Personal Goal/Dream: Diego dreams of a world where everyone is able to pursue their passions. Whether they succeed or not isn't important to him, only that they have the opportunity to try, if they really wish to.
Defining Moment: Diego was challenging himself (and earning a pretty penny in the process) by being a prominent prizefighter back in the Samba Kingdom, right up until the moment a man named Captain Thomas Leyte wandered into the seedy establishment he was having his latest bout in. Diego remembers the moment quite well, the absolute confidence and self-assurance of the man as he stepped up to the edge of the ring and challenged him, not physically, but mentally. Was this all he aspired to be? Did he really think fighting was all he was capable of? Sure he was good at it, but couldn't he do more, be good at more than just beating another person to a pulp?
Needless to say Leyte's words struck a chord in him and the very next day he signed on to the captain's new taskforce, the DOGS, with the ambition and thirst to prove himself that would lead to his own captaincy later.

Devil Fruit Info (Only edit if you have eaten a devil fruit.)
Devil Fruit Name: Horm-Horm Fruit (Horu Horu no Mi)
Devil Fruit Type: Paramecia
Abilities: The user can generate and inject themselves or others with powerful hormones that have a variety of near instant effects on a human body, from increasing stamina, to changing skin pigmentation, gender, internal temperature, the size of one or more body parts (including the entire body), or mood. Healing hormones can be introduced to help the body recover from illness, injury, or poison by enhancing their natural immune system and other recovery systems. Changes can be reversed as quickly as they were made. In addition, to aid in the rapid delivery of these hormones to the target (including themselves), they can turn the tips of their fingers into sharp, syringe-like needles for rapid injection. In a pinch these needle-fingers can be used as slashing weapons, as well.
Weakness: The process of inducing a patient to heal from anything severe is extremely painful for them, and time-consuming (hours or even days, depending on the severity of the required healing process), both to the point the recipient requires a strong will to survive the process--and even if they do, it can potentially shave years off their lifespan if what they are recovering from is severe enough to have been life-threatening. As far as can be told, though, there seem to be no long-term negative side-effects to any other hormone exposures as long as the injected body is already reasonably healthy.
Special Moves:
Iron Rampart: Diego injects himself with significant amounts of testosterone to enhance his already massive body and muscles to utterly ridiculous proportions, multiplying his physical mass in all dimensions until he looms over most nearby friends and foes. In the instant of injection, he activates Iron Body, making himself into a near immovable object to physically block enemies or otherwise devastating attacks on his person, crew, or ship.
Iron Saber Slash: With fingers sharpened to their needle-points and flattened out side by side instead of tightened into a fist, Diego extends his arm and swings it in a straight line in any viable direction (i.e. up, down, at an angle, horizontally across the body) while also using Iron Body to harden them, aiming to induce long, deep slashes akin to those received from a cavalry saber.
Sapper: An extremely simple move where he stabs his syringe-like fingers into an enemy and pumps melatonin into them to make them sleepy, thus sapping their strength.
Tactics info
Personal Equipment:
Boxing Gloves: Diego puts these on either for sparring, or for other situations where he wants to minimize the raw damage he does, often aiming to subdue an enemy without risking lethal damage.
Gauntlets: These are his weapons of choice when he gets deadly serious, full gauntlets covering his hands and forearms nearly halfway up between wrists and elbows, but leaving his fingers bare past the base knuckles. The inside is padded and insulated with leather, to keep him from damaging his hands and keep his skin from coming in contact with the seastone on the exterior--specifically the spikes on the knuckles to do additional damage, and plates on the backs to allow for painful backhands.
Steel-Toed Boots: Normally he wears the standard boots that come with the uniform, but when the gauntlets come on, so do these particular boots. The heels and toes are also coated with a thin layer of seastone.
Skills:
Cooking: In his pursuit of trying new things, Diego discovered both a passion and skill for cooking, ending up serving in the DOGS' galley for a time until he grew into being an officer.
Kickboxing: Even before joining the marines, Diego was a notable pugilist, participating in combat sports for the money they offered--but more for the challenge, and is quite proficient in the use of fists and feet alike to inflict damage on an opponent as this skill was honed during his training.
Six Powers--Iron Body: The user of this skill tenses their muscles to the point it hardens them to the toughness of actual iron. Powerful physical attacks can still cause damage to the user, nor, as the user is still flesh and blood, does it grant immunity to other forms of attack or the elements that the user would still otherwise be vulnerable to, such as heat or cold, but it does allow the user to significantly resist many forms of damage they would otherwise be vulnerable to. It also usually tends to limit the user's mobility when active, so any desired movement needs to be in progress before activation. The more powerful the user, the more damage is mitigated.
Haki: Until Haki is capable of being learned, this will stay empty.
Combat Style:
Diego is a captain that prefers to lead the fight from the front, the first to charge in for attack, or serving as the bulwark, the center of the line, in defending his crew and ship. He is big and tough enough that if he feels it necessary, he will sometimes let weaker foes land a hit just to give himself an opening to subdue them, but more often he will simply choose to unleash a rain of hammer-like blows before their attack even lands. Grappling is also sometimes an option if he is trying to take the target with minimal damage, but usually Diego goes for pummeling opponents into submission rather than physically restraining. Additionally, to prepare for a fight he knows is coming he may inject (willing) crew with hormones to enhance their natural combat abilities, nor will he hesitate using his fruit power against an enemy if he sees an opportunity to sap their stamina or otherwise induce weaknesses for himself or his crew to exploit.
To note, he has three levels of how serious he takes a fight. For friendly spars, it's the boxing gloves and bare feet. For an actual fight against an enemy, he uses bare fists and standard boots. For deadly enemies who are likely using fruit powers, on go the gauntlets and the steel-toed boots.
Techniques:
Cannonfire Kick: Diego firmly plants one leg and lashes out in a single, powerful side kick, making full use of the strength in his long legs as his foot impacts the opponent, sometimes even launching them back powerfully if they are unprepared or weak enough, or if he put particular force into it. Can be modified with Iron Body for an Iron Cannonfire Kick.
Chain Shot Kick: A sweeping leg kick, one foot planted firmly on the heel to allow for a rapid pivot, and the extended leg sweeping across at minimum, 180 degrees, to trip up or bowl over several foes at once, or one very large or stubborn foe. More force in starting the attack results in a wider degree of sweep. The technique name is usually modified based on the number of degrees he intends to spin around. Can be modified with Iron Body to be called Iron Chain Shot Kick.
Firing Line Pummel: A rapid series of punches, varied up to come from a variety of angles aimed at a variety of points, with the intent of overwhelming an enemy by making them unsure where is best to block and where is best to avoid. It can also be used as a means of crowd control against squads of enemy grunts. Punches can be almost anything--hooks, jabs, crosses, uppercuts--in any combination, and can often recycle the rebound from one impact to more quickly wind up for the next blow.
Iron Body--Arquebus Punch: A single powerful right or left hook unleashed just before hardening hand and forearm, allowing the blow to damage or even penetrate armor or other solid defenses depending on the quality of said defenses. If used against a soft target it enhances the damage done to them.
