The fog was tirn asunder by Ivan, revealing him standing in the centre of the room with a cocky grin on his face. Yoichi glowered, but took note of everything. That armour... it could release massive quantities of energy. He could keep chipping away from her at this distance, a battle of resilience between it and her arrows. Or... she frowned, thoughtfully this time. Maybe...
Yoichi knocked the two arrows she had been holding in her teeth. They had pointed heads, more like a classic arrow than her others. These were ones that she had made for driving through objects, armour busting arrows.
Swiftly she aimed and fired, one for each leg. She imagined he would release energy to cancel them out, one kick or maybe two, which would then head gowards her and throw her backwards... but as soon as the arrows were loose, Yoichi moved.
She leapt diagonally forward, out of any potential blast radius. In one hand she had looped a thick strand of her hair. Yoichi pushed herself with a burst of speed, leaping towards Ivan from the flank, hoping his deflection of the arrows allowed her one... small... opening.
If it did, and if she got close enough, Yoichi would loop her hair around his leg, hair much stronger than normal folk. She would twist, tighten, then... using all her strength, aim to trip Ivan onto his back with the hair lasso!

So she'd hatched something? Ivan would slowly bring his leg down, mainly to deflect the first arrow. The clanging sound was apparent, but he faired better than time rather than last time. Part of this was because he was accustomed to getting hit hard, and knew just how hard to brace himself and his honed armored legs. The shining example squinted at her. There was a tug as his leg. Did she really think something like that would make him fall? With both legs clad? Hmmph. Ivan took one large step back, and kicked hard away from Yoichi to drag her along the ground like a school yard toy if she didn't let go. Hopping over the strand, he'd spin violently expending raw energy to amp his strength and drag the girl along with no mercy. "Get serious!" He'd repeat, hopping over the strand and gaining some speed as he did so.

Yoichi was indeed dragged as Ivan spun her around, but she managed to get herself upright. Her hair had snapped, and that meant it hardened like a thought wire around his leg. She swiftly brought up another arrow, tying it to the shackles that now held around the boy's leg, and fired it in a swift, practised movement.
The arrow struck the wall, and Yoichi leapt away. Not Ivan was wrapped by her hair shackles, and linked to the wall by an arrow... Yoichi swung up another three shafts, knocking them into her bow. She grinned.
"You too!"
She fired the arrow with a swift movement, then ducked to the left and went on the move again.

"You too!"
He'd get low to the ground, namely to duck under the incoming arrow. "On second thought... " He said, tone finally settling into a more serious one albeit briefly. He'd leap into the air to dodge one arrow, another plinking off his armor. With a simple point of his support gear, he was yanked and reeling himself to the wall where her hair was attached. He "land" with a firm kick right where the attached hair was. Releasing his reeling device, he'd slide down the wall and begin a sprint. He'd take a round about way of chasing Yoichi, but he was closing in little by little. He was getting more and more used to how she fought. She'd need to come up with another weapon. The only issue Ivan was having was actually taking it seriously. Although he agreed... he couldn't think of a way to end this without wounding her in a dire way.
Shoving both reeling devices in his utility belt that was hidden under his sash. Think! He'd snag some of the arrows from the ground and analyze them. One leg would collapse its armament, the metallic cladding finding itself back onto his arm. This was more intrigue than anything. He'd gather load and launch them right back at Yoichi, return to sender!

Yoichi gritted her teeth. While Ivan was getting used to her way of fighting, she was still on the back foot. Ivan was too strong! He was fast, powerful and could deflect her attacks... so this was the power of a third year? Yoichi felt a sting in her chest. How was she so far below his power?
Ivan then grabbed her arrows, hurling them back at her. She had to duck and roll, narrowly avoiding the projectiles. Return to sender. As she righted, Yoichi shot another three arrows. She felt blood running down the side of her face. He's pushing me to the edge with no escape! Think, Yoichi... how can we beat this? Her eyes darted around. She needed to use her environment , get him to make a mistake.
Bravely, Yoichi rose to her feet. She wasn't running for now, instead notching a realistic arrow into her bow. Her expression was dark and stormy, though her eyes were focused. Her body tense. Yoichi drew back her arrow, and fired, aiming for Ivan's armoured legs. She was ready to make a move, whatever he would throw at her!

Ivan squinted at Yoichi, analyzing, thinking. He took no chance in letting her rest, but neither did she. From what he was seeing, she was gradually picking up the pace the longer she fought. That archer's patience was wearing thin, clashing with her lust for winning. He liked that look as he held the same. He'd shake his arm the armor from his fist, loose, and release it as the arrow came in. The projectile would pin the falling armor and clank against his leg leading to a manageable and shallow wound. This left only his leg clad in armor so he could build load faster. If she'd up the pace, he'd make it harder for her. With a deep inhale, he'd bring his leg up readying a kick. It was different than before. In fact, the dark metallic armor gave off a glorious silver and gold glitter.
He'd line himself up to the running archer and let it rip. The clatter of the armor's building load could be heard, but the usual shockwave didn't come. Instead, a beam ripped through the air as he followed through on his kick. "Radiant Gun!" The armor would crack, as he forced himself high into the air as soon as his clad foot hit the ground. "Rise Above." He too was getting antsy for a win. Well above the battlefield, his cape obscured his body as he somersaulted repeatedly. He needed to up his load cap, and stress testing was the only way to do so. While pushing his limits was ill-advised for real combat, this spar was a perfect time to try! This high jump was compromising, but Ivan never did anything without thought put into it. From his book of tricks, this was one of them. He grimaced, noticing the small crack in his leg's defenses. -Push yourself harder! HARDER!- He'd send another crack into his armor, forcing more raw energy into the armored leg.

The beam was a surprise. What couldn't this annoying guy do?! Yoichi had been ready, and dove out of the way of the intense beam of light. She rolled, coming up to a crouch, eyes following Ivan's movement through the air. Could he maneuver mid-jump? Judging by his quirk so far, she was sure he could. Still... she draw back her arrow, firing it at the boy.
Then, as she assumed he would either counter it or dodge it, Yoichi pulled a dozen hair's at once. Blood sprayed from her scalp as she knocked them all, standing as she pulled her bow back and ground her teeth. It was a volley, a black cloud that filled the air as she fired. If he could dodge them all, then that was fine! Yoichi would just hit him again, and again, until she won!

An explosion occurred as the beam missed. A large, glowing red footprint was left in the clearing smoke. With time it would cool, but it would present the fact that the beam was just an incredibly dense kick, packed with so much raw energy it could have come out any other way. Again, that voice in the back of his head. It was clearer now than ever. He couldn't help but wonder how to end this bout without hurting Yoichi too badly. All the fire would burn out, just as quickly as it had consumed him. Damn it... He could envision his father's telling him to keep pushing and make her beg for mercy. It was all the more reason to listen to his own thoughts. The boy held a stark yin and yang within him. A angel sat on one shoulder whilst a devil sat on the other. The light had been telling him to stop since this spar began...It looked just like him, a hero's conscience. The dark one... well it was no devil, it was like himself, but much more like his father with glowing red hair and gold clad armor covering his arm. The Valor Jr. sounded like his father too... It made Ivan's stomach turn. "Why am I hearing your voice more when I'm further and further away from you...?" He questioned the dark passenger riding along his shoulder.
Crest squinted to find the thin projectiles flying through the air as he coiled and shot his reeling device to alter his falling point. Closer to the wall he'd come, and in no time he'd cling to it. One foot dug itself into the wall with its enhanced strength and excess load. He'd even out the load, coating his other leg in armor. With both feet embedded into the wall, he could stand and turn toward Yoichi. He'd put his hand up and shake his head. He couldn't continue with a waning mindset. His reeling device would unlatch, coiling back up to be stuffed into his sash once more.
Silently he'd adjust his footing so that he'd slowly skid down the wall. Spark would fly as he descended back down to earth. Folding his arms, he- "I've had my fill... I guess it'd be more accurate to say I lost my fighting spirit by being too deep in my own head." He seemed to be pouting, spitting on the ground. Pouting might not have been the right words. To be more truthful, he was making himself ill by acting in alignment with his father, and the psychological result of all his tutelage, the Valor Jr that appeared on his shoulder... Wasn't the initial point a conversation? That's what Hiromi had said..."Aaaaah, what the hell am I even doing...?" He muttered, not realizing he said this out loud. Ivan gritted his teeth. Was he to be his own person in this new country like he planned, or was he going to forever be his father's son? Presently?-Definitely the latter.... from the moment he stepped foot into this school, he'd been listening to the dark passenger on his shoulder rather than the shining example on the other shoulder, the person he wanted to be. It needed to change!

"What are you talking about?"
Yoichi clenched her fist, teeth bared as Ivan just seemed to... give up! She took a step forward, feeling a wave of vertigo washing over her, but steadying herself. Blood dripped like rain to the floor, welling up from her overused scalp.
"I... can still fight! I... can still beat you!"
Yoichi's eyes felt damp, her face hot. He had brought her here, and was now leaving? Because he was in his head too much? How dumb! Voices screamed at her too, but they never stopped her! Voices... she suddenly paused, muscles loosening. This boy... he was older than her, but they were both still young, right? Her eyes glassed over slightly as she swayed a little where she stood.
"Do... do you ever manage to get rid of the voices?"

"Sure you can still beat me. Yeah yeah." Ivan squinted at Yoichi. She was... a lot, almost as much as he was admittedly... Hiromi was right. He'd shove a hand into his sash and pull out some bandages before throwing it directly at her bleeding head. He'd sigh, before gathering his thoughts for her question. It felt like a loaded question, despite how simple it was. Voices... When did they even start? It felt like they were always there. At the same time so did his father. Was she facing something similar? He pinched his own arm, forcing an answer out so he wasn't leaving her hanging. Was there an appropriate way to put this? A way for it to make sense. No the only way to say it was to just spit it out.
"Voices... I typically do whatever I want, but recently it feels like I've just been listening to this damn voice the whole time. " Just talking about it seemed to piss him off. At his secondary notient, he relaxed a bit. "Well, that's not true. One of those voices is clearly mine, but there's so much noise sometimes..."

Yoichi grabbed the bandage out of the air. It confused her for a moment before she realised how much of a state she was in. This was her own power, a double-edged sword. Ivan had landed a few blows in, but the damage was really through her own tenacity. She sat down, a bit heavily, cross-legged on the floor.
"Sometimes, she can be so loud," Yoichi said, more to the world at large than to Ivan himself, "and so... forceful. Right now, she's pushing me to get up and keep going. To win, no matter what, whether I break my fingers or pass out from blood loss."
Her arm spun around her head as she bandaged the bleeding folicles. From what Ivan would be able to see from this movement, it wasn't the first time she'd done this, an indication that she pushed herself beyond her body's limits often.
"It was somewhat better when she was actually there, in front of me. Now I have to hear her, like an echo, impossible to block out or run from. "
Yoichi looked up at Ivan, her eyes conveying a deep sadness that seemed to well up from some dark, fathomless ocean.
"I wish you told me it would get better. I don't know how much longer I can deal with her poisonous tongue at the back of my mind."

Ivan watched her closely. While his guard slowly diminished in conversation, his stance didn't. Still, he stood, arms crossed whilst listening to her own experiences. So that's how it was for her. He couldn't blame her, nor could he coddle her feelings. Instead, he would just rudely bark out what sounded most natural. "If you're getting sick of it why not rebel?" He glared. Seemed obvious enough. The major issue was Ivan had been in his rebellious phase for too long... It was bleeding into the most casual of behaviors and had already made him so few friends as a 3rd year. Still, Valor's voice was plenty prevelant especially during the spar that ended only a few moments ago. Rebellion was just a stepping stone, he was still figuring out the parts after.
Confidently, he'd correct himself.-"By that I mean find out what Yoichi wants. Everything else should come last after that. She's not here with you... it's not like you can get yelled at by her." This portion equally sounded like advice to himself. Maybe he just needed to hone in on what Ivan wanted. Not the Ivan he's supposed to be, but simply the Ivan that is. "I can tell studies is gonna be the least of your worries. Combat too. Do you any have a single person you can call a friend? What do you do for fun, even?" Ivan rubbed his head. Friends? OH, he had Youta! If he were lucky Ouju could count as a close associate as well. Tanzo could be considered a rival. Yeah... he did have friends. He gave a sigh of relief.

Rebel? Fun? Friends? Yoichi stared at Ivan like he had just told her to wear her shoes on her hands and sing the national anthem backwards. She looked at her feet, sat cross legged as she was, and frowned. Rebelling was... well, it was everything she'd dreamt of. She looked up, slowly, still frowning.
"I've got... a friend."
Yoichi rose slowly to her feet. The blood loss was making her a bit dizzy as she focused on Ivan.
"Fun... I've never had it. Except reading poetry... but .."
She bit her lip. Stared at him more intently.
"Is that what you've done, by coming here? To U.A.? Rebelled? I... how hard is it?"

Ivan blinked at her. She seemed so unsure of whomever this friend was, he grinned as if he'd gotten the one up on her. It wasn't the point of the conversation, though. She'd never had much fun. Meaning she wouldn't even know if she liked or disliked most things. So there were varying degrees of hellish parenting? Ivan still knew what fun was, he just couldn't walk after "training days," and had to lie about his wounds. There was the unnatural amount of spying that was done when he was in the academy back home... Yes, there were varying degrees of hellish parenting indeed. He'd slightly adjust his chin toward her, showing a bit more respect than before.
"Is that what you've done, by coming here? To U.A.? Rebelled? I... how hard is it?"
"Hardly, I just took advantage of an allowance. I'm sure once I graduate, they'll show up ready to whisk me away back overseas. I won't be going anywhere though." He nodded. He thought a bit more about it... most of his dealings with his father were physical altercations. So in a way, he was used to being at odds, but what of Yoichi. She sounded fairly obedient. Whoever her parent was had a formidable grip on her. "Hard? It's always gonna be hard to live the life you really want. You've gotta show just as much grit as you show trying to become a hero." Was this the right advice for her? Who knows?

"...yeah."
Yoichi was concentrating, but now looked up at Ivan, her eyes glinting with some new emotion. It would always be hard, but it wasn't like her life had ever been easy. A hero couldn't let up, not for a second. Yoichi knew the voice would always be there. She just had to learn how to drown it out. She smiled to herself, clenching her bow hand as she stared down to it with a furrowed brow.
"Yeah... you're right. It's not like she's actually here. It's just a whisper, an echo."
Yoichi looked up at Ivan again, then gave a polite, formal bow.
"Thank you for this session. If it's okay with you... I'd like to spar again. Watch me grow stronger, and next time I'll beat you for sure!"
