The crimson sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow across Seattle. As twilight settled in, the bustling streets came alive with the soft hum of evening activity. It was in this vibrant atmosphere that a glowing figure soared through the air, like a bird riding the wind. Scarlet effortlessly glided above the streets. The sleeves and body of his jacket billowed, catching the updrafts and accentuating his ethereal flight. A faint red glow trailed in his wake, as if the very air itself ignited in his presence.
Down below, people paused in their hurried steps, their faces lighting up with awe and wonder. Children pointed excitedly, their eyes wide with amazement as they watched Scarlet weave through the cityscape. Scarlet's path meandered through the urban maze, traversing over the iconic Space Needle and weaving between the towering skyscrapers. His gaze swept across the streets, ever vigilant, his sharp eyes scanning for any signs of trouble. With each brilliant maneuver he surveyed the city, looking out for someone like him, someone in trouble, or to be perfectly honest, some street food.
Scarlet's flight path took him across the waterfront, where the soft sound of waves lapping against the shore melded with the distant melody of laughter and conversation. He descended gracefully onto an empty pier, his boots touching the wooden planks with a gentle tap. Scarlet stood for a moment, taking in what breeze he could through the fibers of his mask, before turning his gaze toward the starlit sky. He breathed in deeply, his eyes glimmering with determination, his stomach growing angrier with him by the minute. The waves beat a hypnotic tempo as he continued to gaze upward, lost amongst the myriad constellations. His flight resumed with a sense of vigor. Rolling over in the air, he pried his phone out of some hidden pocket underneath his vest. "West, wait. Northwest...hemisphere?" He peered through a handful of pictures of constellations, saving a few that struck him, or that seemed complicated, then rolled over once more. "I wonder if I can trace any of these."
Scarlet rushed through the air, keeping one eye on his phone while trying to keep the other on anything that came blistering past him. With each agile maneuver he weaved through the sky, his movements became a harmonious blend of precision and urgency, leaving a vibrant trail of energy in his wake.

Scientists had never been a rare commodity in the world Dr. Rebecca Lawson inhabited. A seemingly overpopulated profession, segregated only slightly by whatever specialty one would choose. And why wouldn't it be? In a world where the impossible happens daily, it's difficult to not be enamored by these mysteries and trying to see how they all fit together. If they even do. Sometimes something simply didn't make sense, yet existed nonetheless. That never deterred Rebecca, rather it only fueled her determination. She knew she wasn't exactly in the "big leagues" of the scientific world. She didn't need to be nor had the desperate desire to reach that point. She only knew that what she was doing was important to her and would perhaps grant new insight to how these larger than life superheroes worked. What made them tick and, most importantly, the various origins and applications of their abilities. So when the Kree invasion essentially jumpstarted and revealed the abilities of a significant portion of the world's population, she knew the time was right. Fate seemed to have a similar idea, placing the young Joseph Hanson on her path. While his capabilities weren't terribly unique, they still struck her as different enough to merit investigation. Of Kree or Kryptonian origin, he was likely not, despite the numerous similarities to some individuals from both species. Whenever he moved and used his abilities, there was an easiness to them. As if he was much lighter when he flew or even when he struck something with great might. Many others with the similar power package portrayed the heft and weight these powers projected to their fullest, whether consciously or not. Fascinating indeed. It was why she was with him. Determined to find out what exactly he was. She was his 'lady in the chair', albeit more accomplished and determined than someone's high school best friend. And as endearing as his curiosity about everything was, they had business to attend to. She spoke into an earpiece donned with a small camera she had given him prior. "Got something for you. Armed robbery near Westlake. The police are on their way, but you can get there befo---"Lawson's sentence was left unfinished, as a figure flew downward right in front of Joey at rapid speeds. If he would look down, he'd see it was actually a person falling. Closer inspection would reveal that it was a pink-haired girl, though her falling speed would leave other details vague to Joey for the time being. Who was what? Unsure, but both Joey and Lawson would recognize the next person flying past them, deliberately towards the one falling.
"Watch out!"Supergirl's voice carried a sense of urgency, yet not the intent of actually trying to rescue the falling woman. She didn't make much of Joey being in the way, flying capes weren't an uncommon sight, even if she was the more prominent one in Seattle. Kara sped up, reaching the woman in a few moments. Her eyes were already glowing, powered up, when she instead opted for another powerful punch right in her adversary's stomach. The emerging sound felt as if a mountain was being cracked in half. The girl seemingly stopped mid-air for a millisecond, before plummeting even faster and into the pier Joey had stood on before. It was still empty of bystanders and now, it was at a quarter of its original much longer length, with the subsequent impact with water caused a fairly sizeable eruption of water. Something Supergirl likely could've avoided, along with just maybe punching too hard, causing her to curse at herself silently. Those who may have been caught in the water had managed to flee already. A lucky break. Kara knew her hit wouldn't do much either, despite the force of the impact. She reached the, now non-existent, pier, floating and ready to strike again once she would rise. Her vision was about to make out where the woman was, when Kara's eyes were overloaded by a bright pink neon, seemingly swirling everywhere around her. Abigail Walker, though more commonly known as Fetch, had quickly recovered and began her own assault with neon projectiles being flung at Supergirl. Kara dodged them as best she could, but with her faulty vision and Fetch's speed, she knew she would take hits. A few neon bullets struck Kara's torso, causing her to fall onto what was left of the pier. She managed to recover fairly quickly, though had to react fast, as Fetch was already speeding towards her. Supergirl stood, and at the last possible moment, to increase her chances of success, she would douse Fetch with her freeze breath. It did the trick for the moment, with Abigail's lower body encased in ice. Before the Conduit could unleash her neon powers again, Kara's plea for her to listen paused Abigail.
"I can't let you run again, Abigail. You need to stop, please!"
"It's still Fetch, to you. And killing them was fucking justice! You couldn't get the job done the "right" way, so I will do it my way."
"I am trying to help you! But if you keep going, it won't end the way you hope."
"Great way of showing it, skirt. If I have to, I will go out on my own terms. I won't be locked up, not again."
Kara was about to offer a rebuttal when Fetch blasted herself free from her icy confines. She was a difficult one to deal with, though Kara admitted that she could've said something more reassuring. She didn't have the chance now, however, as Abigail was already running and leaping away towards the skyscrapers. Supergirl blasted into the air a moment after, continuing her pursuit, all the while regretting her handling of the situation.
Just as Supergirl flew past them and Lawson registered who it was, her priorities changed immediately. She had been hoping to spot the Girl of Steel eventually and this close encounter was the perfect opportunity for Joey. She knew it was putting him in danger. Yet danger had been beneficial in the past. There was valuable data to be gained from encountering Supergirl and whoever she was going up against. Just before most of the pier was destroyed, Rebecca issued a new set of instructions.
"Nevermind the robbery, the authorities will handle that. Follow Supergirl. Help her if you can, but look out for the other one. She is probably more dangerous than she looks."
Rebecca wasn't the type to get giddy. Yet this was something that forced a small smirk on her. Joey wouldn't see it not could he tell otherwise, but she could tell he was going to be plenty excited about this encounter, however it would turn out.

Joey was so close. If only he was a hair or two faster, the trail he left could connect into a coherent shape. Drawing out neon artwork in the sky. He could only imagine. If this cape thing didn't work out, maybe he could have a promising career in adverti-- As the Doctor patched in through light static, Joseph nearly dropped his phone in a burst of excitement. He let out his arm and banked sharp westward, pulling in his legs before letting out burst of-- WHAM!
He barely saw her in time, much less making out what she said, cutting his turn even sharper into the corner of some brick and mortar corner store. With a wince he bounced off of that impact into the back street, laying in a bed of rubble and back alley refuse as the scene in the sky unfolded, if even just for a brief moment. Joey hoisted himself off the ground and against the wall behind him, peeling off his cloth mask, shaking out the rubble and checking it for holes. "Right.. Okay. OKAY!"Pulling his mask over his face, he was off, tracing Supergirl's leading trail as he fought against the wind to find his eyeholes. His heart pounded in his chest as he pushed himself to keep up, adrenaline raking an elated buzz down his spine. He couldn't believe his luck, stumbling upon such a high-stakes encounter with actual supes. Must focus, can't fumble this, he thought to himself. Joseph could only hear the echo of their conversation by the time he had caught up, and by then they were off again. With an eye roll, he darted back after them, pressing a finger to his ear in contact to the Doctor. "So who's the mall goth?"From overhead he made out the extent of the pier, or lack thereof, before catching stride with Supergirl.

The young hero was still a novice, which would make this scuffle his first major contact with capes. Lawson saw his earnestness as a semi-boon. It meant he was willing to test his capabilities and that would come to often mean being in real-life situations. There was no way around it. Lawson saw it as a necessary pilgrimage, the earlier he started, the better he would become in a shorter amount of time.
As he was following Supergirl and Fetch, Joey asked the pertinent question. Rebecca chimed in shortly after, running Fetch's visage through her systems.
"Abigail Walker, though mostly goes by Fetch. Vigilante, has been on the run for a while. One of the Protectorate's most wanted. A Conduit, meaning she's more durable and heals faster by default. Primarily manipulates neon though. Can siphon and store that energy for a wide range of abilities. What kind? Unsure. The PRT reports only indicate her assassinating local drug lords with sniper-like precision. If there's anything else, the PRT keeps it from prying eyes. But you already saw that she's fast too, so look out for any more surprises."
Rebecca spoke quickly, while still having to leave out some details. What mattered was that she got the most important things across. By now, Joey would've been close enough to the fleeing pair. Especially since they were now near and almost atop a skyscraper, dealing blows.
Abigail was fast, an inexplicable part of her abilities. Kara didn't have time to think of the specifics of what she could do, instead intently following her and trying to catch up. As Fetch started making her way up a skyscraper with astounding speed, Supergirl spotted an opportunity.
Changing trajectory for a brief moment, Kara now flew towards Fetch not from behind, but from her side. The aim was to catch her and lead her to the ground again. Giving herself a boost as she got in position, Kara swiftly reached Fetch, attempting to grab her waist and yank her away. The Conduit's speed and quick reaction time thwarted Supergirl's plan, however. Giving herself a swift boost just before impact saved Fetch from the Kryptonian's fierce grip. Kara flew past Fetch, shattering the windows on the floor of the building as she passed. She made a note to ask the DEO to cover the costs later.
Kara was quick herself, however, recovering shortly after, but was met with an arriving barrage of neon blasts. Sounding like lasers, they collided with her body, leaving her reeling for a moment but not causing any visible damage. Fetch continued her run upwards, lobbing projectiles at Kara as she went. Deftly avoiding the projectiles this time, they would likely cross Joey's path still.
Speaking of, Kara's hearing picked up two unfamiliar voices nearby. One slightly more quiet than the other. Not paying them much mind yet, she sped towards Fetch, who had now boosted herself off the ledge of the skyscraper, aiming to make her way quickly to the other side of the roof. At least that's what it looked like to Kara. Instead, Fetch turned around in a quick motion, and released her unused energy from the boost to strike Supergirl with precision. The laser-like projectile hit the Girl of Steel right in the chest. With Kara being in the air and the unexpectedly powerful blast from Fetch, the former was caught off guard. It disoriented her enough to lose her focus on flying and started plummeting towards the ground.
Fetch now also noticed a young man tailing them. Immediately assuming it was backup for Supergirl, she released another precise projectile aimed at the young man. Nobody was catching her today.
As the pair followed Supergirl and Fetch, Joey would soon be caught in a barrage of broken glass and neon projectiles as Seattle's premier hero avoided them. Rebecca urged him to avoid them as best he could, before everything else happened.
"Catch her!"
It was the only thing she managed to blurt out, the incoming projectile being an obvious threat that Joey should avoid. Catching Fetch was secondary for now, but if Joey was quick enough, they could still catch up to her. The neon assassin's power was to be taken note of, having enough power to inconvenience a Kryptonian.
