Appearance
Visual Appearance:
Physical Appearance: Yoo is a decorated man, who's covered in scars. The most notable is the one over his left eye. His slicked back hair is jet black and compliments his tan skin. He is a man of battle, and as such procured a strong body that exudes strength and mobility. He is 6ft flat and weighs 210lbs solid.
Civilian Clothes:
See below
Hero Outfit:
Whether for business or pleasure, Yoo's appearance does not stray far from that of a salaryman. He's own many suits, in many different colors, some that even have a intricate design or too. Lining the suit jacket is usually a shock absorbing padding, the breast pocket holding shuriken. The wooden practice swords rest at both hips (see below)
Support Item - Licht Saber - a highly reflective blade hidden with the sheath of a tan bokken practice sword, used to reflect and refract light, giving choice to curve and bend shadows at the user's whim. Can blind enemies in bright situations, and is best used in the day time.
Support Item - Nacht Saber - a black blade hidden with the sheath of a grey bokken practice sword, used to accumulate and carry shadows at the user's whim. Can almost appear invisible in dark situations, and is best used at night.
Personality
Bad Habits:
The lack of sleep can cause him to be short tempered and snippy.
To offset his appearance, he tries to warm people up and sometimes makes them even more intimidated by accident.
Communicates through haikus from time to time
He taps his scar when in deep thought
Goal: To be useful
General Personality:
Yoo is a man who grew up around the likes of the cut throat Yakuza. There are a few tendencies he can't quite shake from his history and still presents an intimidating demeanor til this day. However he bodes a kind spirit, and a want for peace above all else(No matter how it is achieved). Easygoing and almost lazy, Yoo prides himself on "heroing ergonomically." It's true that the profession it difficult in many ways, but Yoo thinks many heroes not only try too hard, but tend to put themselves in extremely compromising situations. He often gets in debates with other heroes about heroic politics, and semantics because, he genuinely thinks that a hero should find their niche or place instead of forcing themselves to fit the all-rounder, pillar of justice. More simply put, Yoo believes some people simply operate better when they stay in their lane.
In a world of the positive and boastful types, he tends to come off pessimistic at times and would probably be like the farthest example of Plus Ultra. But this isn't true at all, he just believes to truly surpassed your limits, you must understand and fine-tune what is already present in your own abilities.
"Only the best version of yourself can truly be Plus Ultra."
His presence on the top ten rankings is quite controversial as he is paraded as a popularly branded antihero, but his family's history puts a damper on many of his peers' opinions, as well as some civilians. Some people purely forget he even is on the roster due to his humble appearance and personality. People either love the safety he provides, or are afraid, thinking perhaps Yoo and his agency are villains in a hero's cape. This bothers the man a bit, as gaining a rank from popular vote does not garner the same respect as the heroes with elite rank and high success rate.
While being a teacher is a rather new experience, he heavily enjoys the student-teacher bond, and tries his best to assist any student, so long as he is well rested (which is never). Because of his lack of sleep, he is usually rather irritable causing him to throw suspensions, and detentions out like candy, as he simply doesn't have the patience for unruly students. He cares quite a lot about how his students end up, and even tutors anyone who seems to be struggling.
Personal Life
Mother: Kanami Ryuujin, Alive, Owns Ryuujin Kendo School ( Shadow Quirk )
Father: Zanshoumaru Ryuujin, deceased, villain ( White Dragon, an telekinetic quirk)
Siblings: Yoo-jun Ryuujin, his brother, Alive Kendo Instructor(White Dragon)
Extended family: Grandfather, Yoosui Ryuujin, villain in prison (Mysterious Dragon of the North, an illusion quirk)
History:
Yoo-doumaru had always been the odd man out in his family. Meny of the men and women of his family joined the Yakuza to not only provide protection for the family, but to make money. The ends of Shizuoka were rough, and it was kill or be killed. The boy mimcked his family to get by, but always wanted more for himself and his last name. Their reputation took multiple hits as one person after the other got arrested. Things had gotten so bad that his mother Kanami, had to send him to a cousin's house in Musutafu, near Tokyo. At was in this very city, that Yoo discovered U.A., his way out. Or at least that's what he believed it to be. The Tokyo branch of Yakuza had a firm understanding of the crumbling situation in Shizuoka, and would lend aid to young Yoodoumaru, although only for a gamble in the far future.
"When the time comes, you won't be able to hold onto that cape for any longer. Should you ever fall into that depraved of a state, we will welcome you, young dragon from Shizuoka."
It was one hell of a statement for a kid who just wanted to escape his family's ambitions. To a kid any route was THE route, even if it meant coming back full circle in the end. He'd half to find his way out when the time came. He'd enroll in U.A., just barely passing the exam he landed in the hero class. While his saving grace was his combat ability, it had nothing to do with his quirk. He was a far cry from developed and Dragon of the Depths was extremely hard to control as it was the marriage of the telekinetic might of his father's side and shadows of his mother's side. With blood, sweat, and tears, he'd quickly solidify himself as one of the top combatants in the school. It was an astonishing feat considering he never once competed in the sports festival. Having graduated, he took time to head back home to Shizuoka. Unlike most kids looking for an agency, Yoo already had goals to achieve. In the next 20 years, he spent cleaning up the streets of his hometown, and beginning an Agency of his own. Yoo wanted the Ryuujin name was going to be a name of peace rather than a dominating force. Soon enough both would become true. As the range of his agency slowly matched the size of the gang's territory, his popularity grew immensely. People were enamored with the idea of a crime boss themed, hero. This wasn't an act or a character he put on, Yoo had gone through so much just to get to where he was. While Shizuoka paraded him as a true hero, but along with the rest of japan... that had only been the image and branding. In all honesty all of this was just a restructuring. The Yakuza never stopped committing crimes in the city, they only became more discrete. With many more players behind the scenes, they figured out a way to pin the dusk hero. All it took was patience. He met the woman of his dreams, but things came to a disabling halt as things crashed and burned just as quickly as they started. On top of that, after finding out his secret, she moved back to her home country. The man was left with nothing... only his pride would allow him to pick up the pieces. At this point, he was a zombie... a figurehead for the yakuza to play in Shizuoka while he tried to continue his heroic career. This was until he got a phone call.
"Oh, dear hero. You're needed back near Tokyo."
As it came time for the Hero Ranking Event, the man barely secured 10th. His achievements were few in comparison to the others, and some of the heroes seemed to disapprove of his presence. Nocturne was a trendy anti-hero who solidified his spot by popular vote and controversy. It resulted in Yoo looking to soften his image, since that was all people cared about apparently. In an attempt to his two birds with one stone, he decided to give back to the very institution that helped him get to this point, U.A, while also getting within range of Tokyo's branches instruction. They'd give him orders when the time came, but for now... he was to be a hero and save lives as he pleased.
Quirk
Name: Dragon of the depths (Shadow Manipulation)
Quirk Type: Emitter
Power: As a manipulator of darkness and shadows, Yoo can do a few things. He can actually manifest physical constructs of shadows, these dark creations have a telekinetic strength to them. With a strange denseness, the manifested shadows have an almost cold, sludgelike and otherworldly feel to them. Coating himself in his own shadow, or even expanding it can allow Yoo to dive into other shadows or completely camouflage himself. As his quirk need more darkness to thrive, he sometimes will steal and accumulate other shadows during battle to supplement his own.
Supermoves:
Umbra Invent- Compressing his shadow or surrounding shadows into physical form, Yoo can create strong constructs. Because he likes to honor his name and family, a lot of these constructs tend to be parts of a dragon. His strongest creation being his "dragon dive," a serpentine dragon that lunges forward tearing into whatever is in his path. Yoo can effectively layer constructs with Nacht's reverse flash to blind, or North Shore's anchoring to further incapacitate his foes.
Nacht- A black cube that acts as a reverse flash bang. This darkness "flash" only lasts for a few seconds, but during this time Yoo will be able to dive into a great hiding spot. While shifting the field into darkness, his physical strength, durability, and speed are greatly enhanced for these few seconds. Yoo has further developed this super move into a full body equip. This equipped version is called "Stealth Scale," which lasts for much longer as casting a shadow over his own body is much easier than casting a shadow over a whole area. This thick coating of shadow over his skin and clothes work as a great defense against heavy hitters.
North Shore, Return- Yoo will launch a shadow spear or slashing shadow to his opponent to effectively anchor said limb down and restrict movement. He may also strike their shadow to make a quicksand-like trap. In combination with kendo, (Iai usually) this is a versatile and strong move.
South Shore, Full Takeover - When back into a dark corner, a small room or somewhere he has enough shadows to accumulate, Nocturne can create a tsunami of shadows. Much like North Shore Return, this large wave is heavily weighted, and can slow enemies down with the same sinking (pit effect) but at a much faster rate. Yoo can effectively hide or surf through this black wave with ease, to confuse and strike foes while they are overwhelmed.
Kotai (Solid) - A best-kept secret. Because his shadows can already take on a solid form, Nocturne actively refines solid shadows onto his person as an almost tattoos ink. These shadows get more dark elements added to them each day, they are a procured solid vantablack of a shadow, able to be used in the light. The biggest caveat is that once used, they cannot return to his person or be used again. The most efficient use is to mix Kotai with regular shadows to improve light resistance and raw power. Its most standard and energy-saving use is to use it the exact same way he would use stealth scale, empowering his body. Its strongest and least efficient use is to directly use it for a construct. Once all of the tattoos leave his skin, he is effectively out of vantablack shadows. Creating more on command is incredibly straining.
Nisshoku no Kuni(Eclipsed Country ) - When pushed to the absolute brink, Nocturne will create a land of rising black sun to gift himself the environmental advantage. As an even-keeled and reserved man, unleashing his truest desire allows his quirk to carry out his rawest emotion or death wish. Kotai will cover his body as he finally "lets loose." If he does not have enough Kotai, he will rapidly create it at the expense of his own body(nose bleeds/nodding in and out of consciousness).Yoo will create a Nacht so solid in the darkness that its expansion will eclipse the sun. This will allow for unlimited shadow usage at greater range, raw power, and potency. Note: This is not the real size of a moon so it will be a bit brighter the further away one goes from Nocturne. As this umbratic cube hangs high over Nocturne's head, the closer you get to him, the darker it gets, plaguing where ever he goes into forced night time.
-For a realistic perspective, if he did this in Tokyo for example, it would basically be night time in his immediate vicinity. The rest would seem like a strange lasting dusk (til his passes out, is knocked out, or dies)
-The "Rising Black Sun" (darkest area,5 mile radius), casted shadow (25-50 mile radius) very visible to see the cube up high from other cities in japan.

Drawbacks:
-All powers depend on how bright his surroundings are, effectively getting stronger and weaker accordingly
-He can still be struck while hiding in a shadow.
-He is restricted to short to medium ranged combat, with a maximum range of 25 meters
-As fire creates light, he has a tough time with fire users.
-Wide open area can prove challenging as well, as he has no environmental shadows to accumulate or hide in.
Fighting Style: Yoo is a close-quarter combatant, making expert use of his Katana and shuriken to dispose of foes. As a master of both Kendo and Karate, he doesn't particularly need a weapon to be effective either. Despite his assassin-like approach to combat he is actually well rounded. He possesses a strong shadow-manipulating quirk which creates a balancing act of having to be extremely invasive and swift or evasive and coy. With a quirk that is so flexible, he is able to improv a solution for just about any scenario so long as the lighting(or lack there of) allows it. With his long career comes a reliable amount of versatility, and calm under pressure.
