Common Info
Name: Jazz E. Red "Jazzy"
Alias:
"Purple Smoke Jazz"
Titles: Musician ~~~ Swashbuckler
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Place of Origin: Unknown, likely GL
Bounty:
75,000 beli - The Curl City incident, a purple smog of spores poured over the town as she played a sad song to commemorate her caretaker's death.
Physical Info
Visual Picture:
Physical description: Jazz is a slender girl, with medium bust. Her blonde hair comes down to her back and compliments her stone-blue eyes. She keeps herself fit enough to clobber someone if necessary, but otherwise maintains a great deal of charm without makeup. Her eyelashes are naturally thick, and make her eyes pop. Long and nimble fingers allow her to play instruments with ease, whether it be a guitar, drums, violin or piano.
Clothes:
She likes everything really, just as long as it's not TOO girly. She is more than comfortable with her sense of style, and can pull off nearly any look. She prefers overdone and gaudy accessories to fit her punk look. She's always got plenty rings, bracelets, and necklaces/chains on. On a hotter island, she may rock a plaid skirt, or black shorts, high socks, and some flip-flops. On a colder island, she may wear a dramatically oversized puffy coat to hide herself in.
Defining feature:
She usually sticks out due to her style.
Distinct Laugh: Trying to hold it in or be devious "Pffff-fff-fff" Or a harmonic // happy "Lalala~"
Personal Items:
Her first instrument. Cronin's Cherrywood Dream= It's an old violin and could crack any day now. The signature reddish hue has long since faded but it makes such a sweet sweet tone still. She generally keeps this one on the ship.
The first instrument she created- A low grade horn made from wood and bird bones. It's sound is shotty, but can be a good addition in an ensemble.
Personal Info
Personality: She presents a tough exterior, but it's paper thin. Jazz is pretty transparent about everything whether she wants to be or not. Her highs are high and her lows are looooow. With this teenage angst comes a fair amount of aggression, but she's been able to survive on her own since young. While being dramatic is etched into her very being, she is actually a pretty easy person to get along with. All one really has to understand is what makes her tick, and what makes her happy. As much as she pretends to be independent, and that she doesn't need anyone, she loves being around the crew. She's spent most of her life being sheltered, so she has a distinct love for nature and exploration. All things give her inspiration for writing and playing.
She is spiritual in a way. She believes she can hear a person's inner song, and this allows her to discern bad people from good people. Everyone has their own tune, and people who have passed away no longer play a tune. Life has a beat, and she is to abide by the changes in flow and in rhythm. This can sometimes lead to flighty and inconsistent decision-making.
Morals: Directly from the horse's mouth.
"Be for self...
My own safety takes priority above all else.
When in doubt, blame the captain. It's never actually the crew's fault.
Stand up for the little guy, but only if it benefits you. "
Passion:
-Song writing
-Beautiful Views
-Flora and Plant Life
-Freedom
Loathe:
-People who stick to hard to a system.
-People with no rhythm
Flaw:
Extremely untrusting of newcomers- She's only had herself to rely on, and when Cronin came into the picture, the two were inseparable, almost like father-daughter. She has a pretty hard time making friends.
Mourning- Despite her talents, she is afraid of the big stage. She used to have all the confidence in the world until Cronin's passing. Ever since then, she's struggled when asked to perform on the spot. Currently she can only perform when completely lost in her own world. This will slowly be conquered with time and some healing.
Rebellious
Personal Goal/Dream: ALOT, she's a dreamy gyal.
She is as free as a bird, and sticks close to those who can provide that lifestyle for her (aka the next pirate king)
To sing songs about the different places she's been and people she's met.
To be a witness and sing the legendary epic of the pirate king.
To be renowned as one of the greatest musicians in the world.
To become as grandiose a pirate as "Sing Hard Die Hard" Cronin, the Porthouse Pirates' Captain.
Defining Moment:
-There were legends about Jazz E. Cronin, the "Sing hard die hard" pirate captain of the Port House Pirates. Tales were told of his glorious ship, a floating gazebo with dancing, great food, and music. The man escaped the grand line and found himself in the south blue. Nobody knew why he came back home to Curl Town, but he was rebuilding. His crew was no more..., he'd only describe them in glory, through songs at his night club. A few years later, and he'd even opened a black-market music shop. One could buy instruments... and well, a ton of other things. One of its main visitors was Red, an incredibly young orphan. Cronin would gift her with a warm plate and a new song to sing every time she visited. To her, he was a superhero. To the world government, he was a criminal in hiding... and so he was. With no crew, he'd laugh a hearty laugh and call Red his first mate of his new crew, The Danseur Pirates. They'd be even bigger and better than his last crew.
-From singing lessons to dancing lessons, even lessons on how to fight, Red became a devout apprentice to the former Port House Captain. As a thank you for being to loyal to a washed up criminal like himself, he'd feed her a special meal. A bowl of diced-up fruits. "I'll go ahead and bet my future on you now while I'm still breathing and singin. You just ain't Red anymore, you're Jazz Red!~Lalalala. JAZZ E. RED" He laughed with a hearty smile. It taste god awful, but she'd eat it anyway. She didn't know why he was always so kind, or why he would talk like he'd never see tomorrow... He was ALWAYS there the next day.
Defining Moment))-The day would come when she'd find Cronin dead on the nightclub's stage. The only thing she could think of was singing... It was what he loved to do, and what they loved to do together. Resting his head in her lap, she'd sing for him one last time, her fruit ejected poisonous spores into the air. It's effects spread through the town like wildfire causing mass sickness and uproar. The marines would flood the town in search of a "Purple Smoke Jazz," a song that created this hellish condition. It's sad tones were said to have come from Cronin's nightclub! Seeing as she was a nobody, and Cronin was a wanted man there would be no happy ending if they found her with him. So she'd run... She'd narrowly escaped by a dingy, but the world news would dictate the town to be unsafe to travel to for the new few days. As marines gathered more information, they'd learn about Cronin's apprentice, Red who sang that dying song, that Purple Smoke song that caused mass sickness and a few deaths.
-She'd find herself in Baterilla, trying to start from scratch. With a chip on her shoulder about singing, she'd have to resort to good old fashion piracy for now to survive. Everything Cronin E Jazz taught her from this point, was going to become crucial.
Family Tree: An optional section you can fill out. Use only a name and relation if you choose to fill this out.
Cronin E. Jazz, her mentor and Captain (deceased Captain of The Port House Pirates, a GL crew whose members are either dead, missing, or in impel down)
Devil Fruit Info (Only edit if you have eaten a devil fruit.)
Devil Fruit Name: Shroom Shroom fruit (canon) // Noko Noko no mi
Devil Fruit Type: Special-Paramecia
Abilities: A fruit that allows the user to create and manipulate poisonous mushroom spores, effectively making them a Mushroom Human(not to be a confused with a logia user) While the spores by themselves are a danger, the user however can deploy the spores in any way she wants, from small bursts or in a large cloud. This includes shooting out spores at opponents in a way that looks like energy blasts, growths, and morph/grow in some sorts of mushrooms on their person.
Weakness:
-The major weakness of the fruit's powers is fire, which will eliminate the spores on contact. Either burning the spores themselves or setting the user himself on fire, can stop the spores before they can affect anyone
-Environment plays a large role in wide-range attacks. Extraordinarily hot and dry locales slow the production of growths and spread of spores. Wet damp, and dark locales make for an extreme advantage.
-by soaking oneself in Saltwater or Seawater, the growths pop themselves off of the victim.
-Sea Prism Stone
-Strong Antidotes
Special Moves:
Pop Hypha - A cluster growth of mushrooms on her person to both pillow strikes from an attacker and rub off poisonous spores to affect them over time.
Pileus Launcher - An oversized mushroom will sprout and launch whatever is sitting in front of or on top of its cap. It's a great trap to set to send someone flying or a mode of transportation in an emergency.
Umbrella Dance- Jazz rapidly fires concentrated bullets of spores at the enemy from her hair. They have the appearance of pink energy bullets. They pierce wherever they land, injecting poison and sprouting mushrooms from the source injury. Pulling off the mushroom and fungi growths can help slow the spread of poison.
Rhythm PURPLE- With the unique shape of her guitar, Jazzy will coat her weapon with a glowing purple aura. From a running start, she will speed up to lance into an enemy with a brutal impact. The strings will make the weapon's sharp side vibrate into whatever it landed on causing a secondary wave of pain. This will leave residual poison and mushrooms to grow from the enemy's wound.
Glowing Purple- A bioluminescent mushroom, that she can grow in dark places. It's not really an attack, but it's still highly useful.
Run Hypha- A blast of spores running through the ground, allowing mushrooms to bloom in their waking path. They can easily branch onto and combined with each other to encase a foe in a hardened mushroom prison.
Snow Spore- A forbidden move that she will only use if absolutely necessary. Jazz can release a torrent of spores through the air to affect a wide range and poison whoever is in the vicinity
Cross Shade - Coating her nails or even her guitar, with a clawing motion or strum, Jazz can send slash waves of spores to slice and infect whatever they land on with mushrooms. This can even be honed into multiple consistent streams to sting into an enemy.
Rainbow Hypha- Specialty multicolored spores, that actually aren't poisonous, but are extremely psychedelic. It caused foes to see things upon infection, whether touch, inhaled spore or stab wound.
Touch Hypha- A condensed amount of spores in her hand to clutch onto someone. It's a violent and practically acidic touch that grows mushrooms rapidly where ever the handprint is.
Tactics info
Personal Equipment:
Cronin's Black Lobster - A incredibly solid weapon, shaped and carved with care. It's base end is carved like a pincer and holds a dastardly sharp edge despite being made from wood. This guitar would be a graded weapon if it were a sword. Not only that but if it gets stringed, and tuned, it's a fully functional instrument.
Skills:
Musical Genius- She can play just about any instrument if given enough time to get to know it. She specializes in making music in these genres: jazz, funk, disco and classical, despite her actual favorite genre of music being soft rock.
Shifty Combatant- She never had formal training, but she has had plenty of formal training with dance, song, and playing music. Those are her weapons and she uses them with precision.
Street Performer- Can make money with ease, by singing or playing an instrument for the masses. This comes with a charisma that allows her to get along with towns folk easily. Music connects people.
Novice Doctor - She's learned a great deal just because of her fruit. She can wrap up people pretty good, but at the cost of subjecting them to trippy mushrooms to numb the pain.
Crafts- One of her favorite past times with Cronin was creating instruments, makeshift weapons, and other trinkets. She's keen enough to help out with ship repairs whether it be with her own skill, or using fungi to fill in the gaps.
Haki:
Until Haki is capable of being learned, this will stay empty.
Combat Style:
Combat Minstrel- Jazzy's fighting style is a mix of dancing, instrumentation, and strong-arm tactics she learned from Cronin. From a simple 1,2,3 to cracking someone on the head with her guitar, there is a steep gap and plenty of areas to play in between of having glorious finesse and being an absolute brute.
Techniques:
Lullaby Rhapsody- A sweet and satisfying tune or song to sing that puts people at ease, and to sleep depending on how high or low their guard is.
Bleeding Rhapsody- A curdling pitched tone to ruin enemy ears, and disorient them.
Karmic Rhapsody- A violent strum to blast away enemies with a shockwave of rock n roll sound.
Rhythm and BLUES- A dancing motion making heavy sweeps and slashes at an enemy. The breezing winds pass over the strings, a soothing blues-style hum erupts from the instrument.
Rhythm RED-With the unique shape of her guitar, Jazzy will speed up to lance into an enemy with a brutal impact from a running start. The strings will make the weapon's sharp side vibrate into whatever it landed on causing a secondary wave of pain.
Dance some FUN!- Not an actual combat move, but it's a fun tune to play to get people out of their seats and dancing.
Dance some METAL!- A violent guitar swing to bash enemies with all her might. She may be small but this feels like a cannonball.
Dance some SAMBA!- Fancy footwork to swirl and shake her hips right by enemy attacks. She can even work a nice few kicks into this.
