Servant Information
True Names: The servant Valkyrie, while consisting of three primary individuals who each have their own true names, has manifested in a unique spirit origin container under the shared true name Valkyrie, wherein their saint graph manifests a different individual depending on the current mana capacity of the spirit origin. It seems that it is also possible to manifest additional Valkyries for the purposes of their Noble Phantasms.
Aliases: Valkyrie Thrúd, Valkyrie Hildr, Valkyrie Ortlinde
Class: Lancer
History: During the twilight of the gods, in around 12,000 BC, the White Titan Sefar descended to Earth and destroyed the majority of mankind's civilizations, gods and humanity alike. After being slain by the wielder of the Holy Sword, Sefar's body became the basis for a number of beings, such as the Gigantes of Greek mythology, and the Valkyries, who were created by the Great God Odin of Norse mythology, in preparation for Ragnarök. They behave and operate similar to automata, naturally instilled with core functions and behavior aligning with Odin's inclinations, primarily serving the purpose of supervising great heroes and choosing valorous souls to bring to Valhalla, so that they may live in glory in the afterlife and prepare for Ragnarök. Such beings were not as machine-like as they seemed, however. There came a turning point in the Valkyries' existence when the eldest, Brynhildr, one day chose to decide a battle between humans in the favor of the side opposite of Odin's intentions. She was cursed by Odin, had most of her Divinity taken away, and was banished to a hall of flames within Mount Hindarfjall, and was later rescued by the hero Sigurd, whom she fell in love with. From there, the number of Valkyries gradually declined. By the dawn of Ragnarök, there was perhaps only about half their original number remaining. Aslaug, the daughter of Brynhildr and Sigurd, was the last Valkyrie. She slept through Ragnarök, having been sealed in a magical silver harp by her foster father and caretaker Heimir, and awoke in the 9th century, long after the Age of Gods had ended.
Personality: The Valkyries are all fundamentally alike, existing as diligent and devoted individuals who uphold a sense of dignity and elegance. They have thorough knowledge of battle, hold admiration for exalted and valiant heroes, and excel in matters of insight. Due to the nature of their origin, which drives their behavior, it would not necessarily be wrong to call them a single existence, one-and-the-same. Yet, the individuals may differ in their superficial tendencies on how they carry themselves and interact with others, seemingly giving them a variety of various personalities... Valkyrie Thrúd appears to be the earnest, honor-student type who is a diligent hard worker. Valkyrie Hildr feels intimate and easy to talk to, and expresses herself more openly. Valkyrie Ortlinde seems like more of a reserved, quiet individual who hides her emotions.
Physical Appearance:
Designed by the Great God Odin himself, the Valkyries are the personification of beauty, with not a single imperfection on their bodies. All of them measure in at an identical 159cm and 46kg. They can be identified by their striking red eyes and small winglets protruding from their hair in addition to their signature insignia of light hovering close behind them almost like a halo of sorts, which appears in combat. Traditionally, the Valkyries are always found dressed in their Svanhvít clothing as their form of protection, but can be hidden at will, allowing them to wear other clothing as they see fit by manipulating their spiritrons.
Clothing and Armor:
Casual (Thrúd)
Casual (Hildr)
Casual (Ortlinde)
Swimsuit (Thrúd)
Svanhvít — See below.
Weapon of Choice: Gungnir (False)
Noble Phantasms:
Gungnir (False) [Rank B Anti-Army]
A degraded version of the true Gungnir, the holy spear of light wielded by the Great God Odin. These replicas were created and bestowed to the Valkyries by Odin and are wielded either as regular weapons or as Noble Phantasms. If thrown as a Noble Phantasm after the True Name is released, a sure-hit function will activate, causing the spear to never miss its target. It can be said that the true Gungnir was the original prototype of Gáe Bolg, which has a similar technique in its Soaring Spear that Strikes with Death.
Ragnarök Lífþrasir [Rank B Anti-Army]
Fully synchronizing the Valkyries' existences, additional Valkyries are summoned in the preparation of this Noble Phantasm. It can be considered a holy selection of sorts, wherein the Valkyries fulfill their purpose of taking the souls of the fallen brave to Valhalla and completely extinguish those that are evil or unworthy. By raising their Noble Phantasms, Gungnir, the assembled squadron of Valkyries throw their spears at a target area, forming a large Bounded Field. Within this boundary, pure souls are granted mercy, while the lives of the wicked are cast aside. It is a realm that completely purifies enemy Servants, familiars, spells, phantasmals, magical beasts, and any other beings that fall under a magecraft and magical energy category.
Svanhvít [Rank A Self]
The Valkyries are dressed in swan-white clothes from the Great God, Odin. While they are worn, they possess the ability to fly, able to maneuver adeptly with extreme speed and agility. However, the true value of this Noble Phantasm goes beyond enabling flight, rather, its primary function is providing divine protection from the Great God Odin - Norse mythology’s highest being. Because of this, it preserves the absolute nature of the Valkyries' mind and soul. Magecraft and abilities that could potentially affect the mind are completely repelled, and on top of deflecting all physical attacks of Rank B or below, their physical bodies will not change in form regardless of anything that would otherwise cause them to. These garments can also be hidden at will without being unequipped, for purposes such as bathing.
Skills:
Divinity - A
Valkyrie are the daughters of the Almighty God Odin and their existence can even be called true Demigods. They possess an extremely high aptitude as a Divine Spirit. This skill also has an effect that can pierce special defenses and defensive skills in accordance with the Divinity's rank, which in their case is extraordinarily strong.
Magic Resistance - B
Granting protection against magical effects, with a rank of B in Magic Resistance, spells with less than three verses are nullified. Even greater magecraft or greater rituals would cause next to no effect on them. In combination with Svanhvít, the Valkyries' defensive capabilities are incredibly formidable.
Primordial Rune - EX
Primordial Runes are the equivalent of a Norse Magic Crest, allowing them to perform an equivalent of magecraft of all kinds. It differs from those used by modern mages, concealing astounding power because they are the original runes created by the Great God, Odin, whose power transcends human understanding. The Valkyries prefer to use these runes as various combat enhancers and support magic. While they can be used directly as offensive magecraft if needed, the Valkyries don’t often use it as such, because they believe that the merit of combat isn’t from magecraft, but with flesh and armaments.
Fate Weaver - B
The Valkyries were occasionally depicted weaving with terrifying looms. When supervising a battlefield, they determined the victory or defeat for each side through the use of their cloth, as a form of divine intervention.
Master Information
Name: Leon Andersen
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Visual Appearance:
History: Leon Andersen was born into, at first glance, a rather ordinary line of mages. Despite being an only child, his parents cared greatly for him during his early years. They lived a modest life in the northern midwest of the United States, where his father, Elias Andersen, ran a simple traveling fix-it shop. This of course was aided by his lineage being partial to the electricity sub-attribute, allowing for easy solutions to a wide variety of technological issues, an area with no end of problems in the modern world. And for the most part, the Andersens blended into a normal lifestyle just fine. This however, while being a legitimate business, was also a front. Leon's father took trips from time to time to meet with the local magus sector for various news sharing of 'their' side of the world, which typically lasted a week at best and usually served as a simple check-in. Despite his appearance and aging body, Elias was a highly accomplished veteran magus, capable of handling himself easily, which left his wife, Sophia, also an established magus, with little worry when taking care of their child.
Within the magus world, however, the Andersens were a skilled line of combatants descending from Scandinavia with a high quality magic crest dating back many centuries. Elias had followed the traditional route of slowly transferring his magic crest to Leon throughout his childhood, but the initial reason for it was a sudden realization of his own mortality. It was originally out of selfishness that he wished for his family to life a peaceful, happy life, not wanting his child to grow up experiencing the truth of the world, but knew that such things were dreams of pure fantasy when involved in a world as messy as that of the mages, and that there would eventually come a time where Elias would have to tear down the veil and ensure that Leon had what it took not only to survive but thrive.
Unfortunately, while it was a good plan, it was forcefully accelerated early upon a series of incidents across the country. Word from the magus guild in the region was that a worldwide Holy Grail War had not only been going on for some time now, but was not limited in its number of participants. It was theorized that these irregularities may have been an issue with the Holy Grail, but there was no such way to confirm any claims, of course. What it did mean, was that the threat of Servants was very real. And very imminent, as it turned out. Elias received news from the guild that a chase between a fleeing Archer servant and a Berserker servant and their masters would end up bringing Leon's hometown into the danger zone. Yet, the moment that Elias had resolved himself to protect their town from damage, a red light began emanating from the back of Leon's hand, which was immediately recognized as a command seal.
Leon's reason for participating in the Holy Grail War was born from his simple desire to not see his father potentially sacrifice himself to protect them. With haste, Elias guided his son through the summoning ritual using one of the books on his shelves in the family's study, but for unknown reasons, the ritual did not proceed as expected despite following the directions. While it did indeed lead to the summon of a Lancer-class Servant, she appeared to be seemingly divine in nature, whose identity could not be discerned until Leon introduced himself to her. It turned out that the Valkyrie, Thrúd, had manifested in a spirit origin container that was compatible with any of the Valkyries; as similar enough beings, they were more or less interchangeable. As Leon began getting used to the flow of mana through their Master-Servant connection, the Valkyrie's saint graph stabilized between three individuals — herself, Hildr, and Ortlinde, who also briefly introduced themselves before Thrúd reappeared. She smiled, admitting that as descendants of the Norse, they had always been watching over the Andersen family, among many others, from the Throne of Heroes, and would be more than happy to lend her aid in defending them now.
In a pre-emptive declaration of victory, the Valkyrie traveled to the far side of town where the combatant masters had taken their moving conflict, with her Master following close behind. It was a one-sided affair — even as the two adversaries, threatened by the new arrival, both attacked Thrúd, she swiftly dispatched the both of them, sparing their Masters and leaving them to flee in separate directions. Reconvening with Leon's family, the Valkyrie encouraged Elias and Sophia to take up shelter within the mage's guild, while probably not the most trustworthy of places, would serve as a staunch fortress that would not dare to be attacked by rogue Servants such as the ones earlier. Leon, however, did not want to be put to use for anyone else's purposes besides his own, trusting his Servant more than any other mages that might try to take advantage of their family, and resolved himself to travel the country, or even the world if necessary, to get to the bottom of the mystery surrounding the current irregularity of the Grail War. As saddening as it might be for their child to leave the proverbial bird's nest, Leon's parents could not be more convinced that he would at least be in good hands, and wished them the best of luck on their journey, and if possible, to check in every now and then. The young man left with a smile.
Personality: A calm, typically steady individual dragged into the Holy Grail War through collateral damage. His exceptional sensory capabilities make him a natural at analysis. As a result of his father's successes and line of work, Leon was forced to mature quickly, and outwardly, deals with it well enough, but still is often troubled by thoughts due to a lack of experience. He's good at understanding and adapting to situations, but isn't much of a conversationalist, and often chooses to defer to the preferences of others when no significant difference in outcome would result from it. Despite this, having set off on travels with just himself and the Valkyries, while Leon has always excelled at decision-making, he is now making more of an effort to take command of situations himself. Inwardly, he knows he's still quite young relative to most mages, and is still nervous about the irregular Holy Grail War situation, but is glad to have the Valkyries by his side knowing he has their dedicated support. He does not know his wish for the Holy Grail, understanding that it is a life-changing decision that isn't to be taken lightly, but also believes that he will discover his wish along his journeys. Never wastes an opportunity, and is prone to daydreaming.
Magical Preference: While Leon's family specializes in electricity, having the dual elemental affinity of Wind and Fire, he himself leans more towards the properties of magnetism, and commonly fights by applying and manipulating polarity in order to force the movement of objects such as his combat daggers, or even the movement of other beings directly. He also can use conventional electricity magic, such as his father's favored array of various lightning bolt spells, but is not quite used to their proportionally higher mana usage.
